We, however, have no choice than to bear our burden. Though, our women are sometimes erratic in behavior, but we can't do without them. After several years in marriage, I learned that our wives are more or less like our mothers May God give us the strength to take care of them and children.

Lenny5000: My question to some ladies is why do you allow somebody treat you like a piece of rag? From her interview it's obvious she doesn't even know the guy, yet she went ahead to marry him. Again he has shown sign of violence before and she still went back to him. I have zero tolerance for a guy that hits a lady.. For crying out loud this lady looks beautiful and seems to have things going on for her, so why settle with someone that turns you into a punching bag? Waiting to be killed? Now he says he didnt touch her...meaning she took a stone to hit herself and cause all these body marks. Truly sad!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Vacancy For Paid Forum Moderator With Spam Management Focus by dagreen14: 10:36am On Jun 08, 2012
dmainboss: @Seun

I am interested in the job and here's my solution:

First the manual way: I will setup a report address or similar (if that doesn't already exist) where users can report spam posts from any section. I will monitor these reports and take appropriate action based on what Nairaland considers as spam. I will do this routine say like every hour or more for all threads with priority given to front page threads.

Based on the above, I will monitor the user names and possibly IPs of offenders and keep a list of such and use that to prioritize future spam considerations. E.g. By keeping the number of times a user has been reported by other users and the number of times a user has been banned, those with higher ban rates can appear in a special cases list. This list can facilitate fast monitoring and filtering of spam.

Next is the automated way: This will require some programming and I would go about it as a project within a specific time frame. I did a spam filter for a cybercafe timer/proxy some years back, so I have real experience with that. I can give more details of that privately.
I will, for example, develop a filter script that will study patterns of spamming and use those patterns to filter the posts and suggest possible spam. These posts can then be reviewed and checked for spam. The script will also be used to do a delayed posts condition for known spammers. With that I mean a situation where a known or suspected spammer's post is delayed for say 10mins or more before it appears on the thread. I have seen this used in many forums, especially those of media organisations. But in this case, the posts will be delayed while a notification is sent to the admin, i.e. me, for consideration and necessary action. This will only apply to "known or suspected spammers" or to posts that are highly suspicious.

These are a few suggestions on how I will handle the spam issue if I get the job.

Regards

I think you should be considered for the post

Watch that plan! Yes, that building plan you are drawing, you may look as it is small on paper and think it is a small project, well, its small till you dig the foundation and if you don't take time, na the house go drag you for neck dey waka from here to there.

One of my coleagues in the office brought his house plans he paid N40k to draw to my office yesterday for me to advice him. I took a long look at this beautiful drawing and asked him point blank how much was his last month salary, he told me "hmmmm, around 60k" I sat back and told him, at this pace you will finish this house in 15 years. He looked sad as he was going, I later adviced him to cut it down and start small, till his incomes expand then he can step up to another land/ house.

Does it sound like I am contradicting myself? First I adviced us to start with what you have and now I am discouraging my friend and coleague who wants to start with what he has, well the difference is the plan. The building plan is bigger that my friend and I don't want him to pass through too much trouble building his house that he will be discouraged and abandon the house. A building plan should be tailored to suit your income, except you don't have immediate need for the cash you want to tie down or the apartment itself.

The more twists you add to a house is the more money it gulps, you love a parapet finish, a tiled facade, an additional pillar, more room for your kids or some superlative finish, be sure you are going to spend for it. Watch your budget, stay focused with your building planning and be fast in execution of the project, the more a house lingers the more it costs you money to build it as some of the things you bought may start to go bad. by spyder880(m): 11:52pm On Oct 13, 2011

spyder880: I will post my latest colour chart for aluminium roofing sheets later today. Plus, some inside roofing info from those who knows, samples of high and low quality roofing sheets etc. This post will be for the viewing pleasure of the 2 clients who called me for roofing inquiries for their houses, and for my readers here.

We just want to make the art of building as fun and transparent as possible.
Hey Mr Spyder,

I just want to say a big thank you for bringing this up.

can I ask Please, my carpenter will be finishing the nugging of my roofing today and we have the quotes for the Aluminium roofing sheet already which am happy to proceed with, However my Carpenter said to me to hang on for about 3 weeks for the rain and sun to beat the roofing structure before covering up… ...Does this really matters ...I hope you understands what am on about....lol
FamilyRe: Please Help Ayomide - An Abandoned Child by dagreen14: 11:59am On May 09, 2012
queenafric: On my way to Lagos from Abeokuta today, while waiting to get attended to at a mama put joint, I was aroused by people shouting at a little girl who was about trying to cross d highway. Almost immediately, a woman ran towards d little girl and dragged her off d road. I was shocked when after some mins, I saw this same girl standing beside d road again but no one seems to pay her any attention again. I was expecting that at least someone out of all d women I saw there might be d girl's mother and will be worried that their child is by d roadside but that wasn't d case. Then I got curious and payed close attention to d child. She looked unkept, unhappy, malnourished and gaunt. I called out to her to go stay somewhere shady but she just looked away and remained under d hot sun. I swear...mere looking at this child, I could sense d insecurity and unhappy on her face and it was so touching, I was almost moved to tears. When I asked d buka woman about d child's mother, she heaved and said ha! that one is a lost case o. I persuaded her to tell me why she said so, she was a bit relunctant at first b4 briefly telling me dat the child's mother dumped her with an old woman and ran away. Since d woman is so old, she can't be running around after d little girl. Hmmm...I can swear dat this child hasn't eating in days as she looks so worryingly thin. She seems disturbed kinda. I tried to chat her up but she just wouldn't respond. I wanted to buy some food for her but I was afraid of being accused of trying to lure her with the food inorder to make it easier to kidnap her. This is naija and one has to be really careful about things like this. I gave d girl a token which she accepted, then I left. Right now am back home in Lagos but am restless. My mind keeps going back to d little girl. Dunno what might happen to her but I wish her to be in safe hands and in good health. What do I do? Does anyone know a good NGO that can take her case up? I don't support this kind of unnecessary suffering especially to a child...a supposed leader of tomorrow....
Mature advice needed pls. Thank u all.

Hi, if this is a true story i will be happy to support financially in terms of up keeping the little girl and please keep me updated
N.B- attached is d pictures of d little girl.
