PoliticsBoko Haram Can No Longer Attack, Says Buratai by dahaz(op): 4:12pm On Dec 25, 2015
Tukur Buratai, a lieutenant-general and chief
of army staff, has assured residents of the
north-east that 2016 will be a more peaceful
year for them because Boko Haram “can no
longer coordinate any attacks”.
He gave the assurance on Thursday after his
operational visits to troops locations in parts of
Borno and Yobe states.
He said within the time frame given by President
Muhammadu Buhari, joint forces had
decimated Boko Haram and substantially
destroyed its enclaves on Nigerian territory.
“Going by the present pace and momentum of
the military operation, no insurgent or group will
be able operate freely by 2016,” he said.
“Since Mr President’s mandate, we have done a
lot to defeat these criminals; we have degraded
them in such a manner that they can no longer
hold any ground in our country.
“They can no longer coordinate any attacks; we
will, in the coming few days, completely close in
on them, so the outlook for 2016 is bright. I
want to assure Nigerians, especially the
Northeast, that 2016 will be more peaceful.”
Buratai said that the military would consolidate
on the successes recorded in the operations so
far, stressing that there would be no room for
the insurgents to operate henceforth.
At the army brigade in Biu and the armed
forces special forces battalion stationed in
Buratai town, the army chief conveyed the
president’s congratulatory message to the troops
for meeting the deadline.
He said that the president was pleased with the
successes recorded, especially in meeting the
timeline in fighting insurgency. But he urged
them not to be complacent, saying the
insurgents would employ desperate measures to
survive the onslaught by the military.
At the base of 21 Brigade deployed from
Damaturu to Buni Yadi, Buratai commended the
soldiers for their efforts in curbing the activities
of the insurgents in the area.
He urged the troops to remain alert and make
good use of available equipment for the
operations.
The chief of army staff reiterated the
commitment of the army and other relevant
authorities to providing the necessary logistics to
enable troops sustain the momentum.
Buratai, who held durbars in all the locations
visited, also addressed issues raised by soldiers
and officers.
Some of the soldiers who spoke at the durbar
expressed their desire to end the counter-
insurgency operations and return home as soon
as possible.

Delphi:
That action is the worst embarrassment of the year 2015. The initiator of that wrong ingenuity did not think of the implication of such sordid act. Can they actually confirm that in Bauchi airport its only one motorized stair for passenger disembarking that they have, in this 21st century!. That was an eye-sore and a national embarrassment. I sincerely hope that appropriate deterrent action should be taken against any ensuing lapses/ laxity.
I think most of the blame should be on the regulatory agency NCAA

Something they can just direct the Aviation authorities to look into it

Must we set up panel for every and any single thing that happens in this country??
No were in the article that a probe panel was mentioned. What the minister said was investigation.
PoliticsGovt. Orders Probe Of Airline For Using Ladder To Disembark Passengers by dahaz(op): 10:44pm On Dec 20, 2015
The Honourable Minister of State for Aviation,
Senator Hadi Sirika has directed an immediate
investigation into the use of an unauthorized
equipment by Aero Contractors Airlines at the
conclusion of a charter flight to Bauchi over
the weekend.
Several reports received by the Honourable
Minister have indicated the airline used a
ladder to disembark passengers from a Boeing
737 aircraft at the Bauchi airport on Saturday
December 19th 2015.
According to the Minister, the act is
inconsistent with Nigeria Civil Aviation
Regulations (NCARs) and International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and
Recommended Practices (SARPS).
The investigation will determine the
immediate and remote causes of the incident
with a view to developing and implementing
measures that will prevent a reoccurrence of
the unsafe and unacceptable procedure that
exposed
passengers to high risk of serious injury.
He reiterated that if the airline is found
culpable, the full weight of sanctions within
extant laws and regulations would be applied
on it.
The Honourable Minister assures the traveling
public that the Ministry of Transportation in
collaboration with Nigerian Civil Aviation
Authority (NCAA) will ensure strict adherence
to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations as
well as ICAO Standards and Recommended
Practices by all operators.
Sirika further states that the ministry will not
shriek in its responsibility to ensure a safe
and secure air transport services which he
views as sacrosanct.

PoliticsPeoples Daily Newspaper Disowns Obaigbena Over NSA Payment Claim by dahaz(op): 11:52pm On Dec 11, 2015
The management of Peoples Media Limited,
the publishers of Peoples Daily, has
dissociated itself from being part of the 12
newspapers companies who allegedly
collected the sum of N10million each from the
office of the National Security Adviser, NSA,
Sambo Dasuki.
The publisher of ThisDay Newspapers, Nduka
Obaigbena, had said he received N120 million
in March 2015 on behalf of the Newspaper
Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) and
12 newspapers who asked to be compensated
for the “unlawful seizure and stoppage of
circulation by armed soldiers in Abuja and
several cities”.
Peoples Daily was named as one the 12
newspapers that filed claims.
But a statement by the Chief Operating
Officer of the newspaper, Ali Ali, said the
newspaper never received such money under
whatever guise.
“One of the revelation on the current
inquisition of the tenure of the former
National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki
(rtd) is that this newspaper, among several
other national dailies, received the sum of
N10million from the office of the former NSA
through Nduka Obaigbena, the President of
Newspapers Proprietors Association of
Nigeria, NPAN.
“This is new to us. At no time such money
was made available to us in whatever guise.
We wish to state clearly that it is false and
therefore, wish to completely distance this
medium from this revelation.
“We don’t know of others, therefore, we can’t
speak for them,” said the newspaper.

I think people dont know the personality of the president. He does not rush and takes his time to plan.I urge people to go back to history and find out about the buhari ptf years. He spend his first year absolutely doing nothing. But three years after that we could see the positive effect of ptf.
Am urging nigerians to calm down.change shall come beginning from next year.but for now,we must recover the 'yams' people like dasuki ate which will be used for development
