Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State governor, Charles Soludo has said that companies that produce products with harmful chemicals will either sit up or be put out of business if Nigerians imbibe the culture of healthy living. 

Mrs Soludo stated this during an interaction with the media at the governor's lodge, Amawbia, Awka on Tuesday. 

The Anambra first lady who recently launched her "Healthy Living Club with Nonye Soludo" across schools in the state said the essence of imbibing healthy living has far-reaching effects on every individual in the society.

The 'Healthy living club' is aimed at setting up Healthy Living Clubs in primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions in the state. The goal of the club is to educate and promote healthy living values to children and youths and help them live better and healthier lifestyle. 

Mrs Soludo said the club is hinged majorly on six thematic areas which include;   fitness, nutrition, environmental cleanliness, basic skills, sex education, and mental health education. By imbibing these values, the Anambra first lady aims at educating young persons and mothers in the state on how to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

In her speech with newsmen, she spoke extensively on the need to catch them young. According to her, children learn better and the skills and knowledge they gain will live with them for a lifetime. 

She said, "We teach them how to take care of their environment, personal hygiene, basic first aid skills, dangers of drug abuse, right eating habit, sex education, and the importance of exercising."

Speaking on the need for daily exercise, she emphasized the need for daily exercise and the importance of consistency in working out.

A Maid of Honour caused a stir with the bride after she lost a significant amount of weight ahead of the special day and struggled to fit into her dress.

The woman claims that the bride was furious and her weight loss allegedly dampened spirits on the wedding day since her outfit had to be ‘pinned’ and adjusted accordingly.

Mexican authorities yesterday said they have seized a huge collection of exotic animals including 10 tigers, six jaguars, five lions and other species in a cartel-dominated town.

The announcement came just a week after U.S. prosecutors revealed that a boss of the Sinaloa cartel fed his enemies, alive and dead, to tigers he kept.

The discovery announced Saturday came in the western state of Jalisco, the turf of a cartel of the same name.

Authorities did not identify the owner of the land where the vast menagerie was found. But the township of La Barca, Jalisco has been the scene of mass graves and cartel executions in the past.

A young Nigerian Pharmacist identified as Obinna Charles Emeka, has reportedly lost his life after an Abuja hospital demanded for a full X-ray before treatment would commence on the accident victim.

A Facebook user, Chukwuemeka Okwo, while narrating the incident said that the late Obinna was not attended to five hours after the accident as his friends could not get the scan on time.

A 300-level student, Okongwu Ebuka Joshua, of the department of business administration at Nnamdi Azikiwe university has committed suicide. According to eyewitness reports, the sad event occurred in the early hours of Thursday, December 2nd.

The young man who was said to have consumed a whole bottle of sniper was found lying lifeless in his room after he came back from lecture yesterday, His body has also been taken away and investigation has begun as regards the reason for taking his life.

A 36-year-old man has lost his life after he was attacked by two wandering german shepherd dogs in Lagos, the police has confirmed.

This was made known by the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a Twitter post.

Hundeyin said the incident happened late in the night, adding that the victim died in the hospital as a result of injuries sustained from the attack.

The police spokesperson further advised members of the public to chain their dogs as owners will be responsible for any damage caused.

Yet to be identified gunmen have killed about five Nigerian soldiers and a civilian in Umunze, Anambra State on Wednesday.

The gunmen ambushed the soldiers in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing many officers of the Nigerian army.

A video clip obtained by Daily Info showed the moment after the attack as locals gathered around the scene of the incident.
Meanwhile, Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo has condemned the attack in the strongest terms.

Soludo in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, promised to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The statement read, "We condemn this wicked and cruel attack in the strongest terms. The perpetrators of this act must pay. We are not going to rest on our oars, including those people that attacked Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and the rest. There will be absolutely no hiding place for them.

"Going forward, our actions will show, as these people must surely pay for this heinous and repulsive attack".
Soludo urged residents to maintain calm and remain law-abiding as the security agencies are on top of the situation.

An unidentified man was seen naked in the premises of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, spraying money under the rain.

Daily Info gathered that the young man who should be in his early 30s drove in a Toyota Corolla car and parked at the popular ‘Love Garden’ within the school premises to perform the act.


The action was said to have attracted the attention of the male occupants of the school hostel who came in their numbers to attack the man before he sped off with his car.

As lovers readied their plans for merriment to mark Saint Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2022, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, announced the commencement of strike.

The strike, which started off as a rollover strike, has since transited to an indefinite, total, and comprehensive strike.

Although stikes are not new to the Nigerian education sector, their duration and consistency give cause for worry. Barely do you meet a graduate from a public university in Nigeria who did not experience an ASUU strike before graduation. Prior to the ongoing strike, students were forced to spend nine months at home in 2020 due to a strike that was suspended after the President Muhammadu Buhari administration committed to addressing the demands of the union.

Consequently, to tackle one of the mainstream issues raised by ASUU, government set up a committee headed by Prof. Munzali Jubril to negotiate with ASUU on a new salary scale for academics in the nation’s universities. While the constitution of the committee may have seemed like an act in good faith, a few months down the line, after the committee completed its collective bargaining with the union, the federal government failed to implement the agreements reached.
Instead, a new committee was set up. The constitution of the new committee was not done until the union embarked on the ongoing strike. The Nimi Briggs committee was inaugurated in March to negotiate and come up with a new proposal on a salary structure. The Briggs committee, in collaboration with the ASUU leadership and other relevant agencies of government, engaged in a new round of negotiations.

In June, there was excitement in the public sphere as there were hopes of an end in sight when the committee concluded its task and came up with a draft agreement. The agreement was to be assented to by the federal government and the union.

However, all hope was dashed when the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige publicly criticized the committee for arriving at what he described as a 109-185 percent increase in the salary of academics.

Ngige added that ASUU leadership insisted that critical federal government ministries and agencies such as the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Budget Office of the Federation, National Salaries Income and Wages Commission, and Office of Head of Service of the Federation recuse themselves from the sitting of the committee. This claim was refuted by the Briggs committee in a statement. They insisted that the team imbibed strict adherence to best practices while discharging its duty.

Unlike in recent strikes when ASUU had several demands, the union appears to be prioritizing the review of their welfare package and the deployment of the locally developed University Transparency and Accountability Solution, UTAS, as a payment platform. The union faulted the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, for its inconsistencies and for not fitting the peculiarities of the university system.

A second-year student of Fine Arts Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, identified as Onyemaobi Esther Chidimma has been found dead in her hostel.
