tidytim:
Liberal Christians hate Paul, Muslims hate Paul, everyone who defends sin hates Paul. I believe one of the reasons is that he brings the fact that homosexuality is judgment from God from the O/T to the new, in the Book of Romans. Those who defend homosexuality say that Jesus said nothing about it. True, however Jesus raised up Paul to be the apostle to the Gentiles and he had plenty to say about it.

Also, most of religiosity, Christianity, Judaism or Islam or whatever, love the ceremonial legalism they practice by which they think they will attain heaven. Paul clearly explains and defends the gospel of Grace. People hate the gospel of grace because that means that they can do nothing to save themselves, and people just hate that. They love to believe that if they live good lives, are tolerant, accept everyone no matter how anti God their lifestyles, that God who is love will accept them. Bull puckey. God is love, true. But he is also holy, righteous and just. He said what he said in the Scriptures. There's only one way to get to the Father and that is through his Son Jesus.

I have to believe people hate Paul is because Paul so clearly explains and defends the Gospel of Grace. Grace is the antithesis of the religious ceremonial legalism found in Islam and Judaism and every other religion on the planet.

Thank you Lord Jesus, for the Apostle Paul!! And thank you for revealing the mystery of the church and the mystery of the rapture through him!

I doubt everyone hates Paul

Thank you for the prompt reply

Of course, dont we all know that

However  isnt "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours wife is in the law" and " . . . don't have to honour your neighbour's wife" dissimilar

Inadvertently confugulating. Yeah?

Anyway, what I'll be sharing is in accord with your "circumcision is in the law.  it is annulled"

and is about what brought it and/or how it came about (i.e. Abram and/or Abraham stringing God along etc)

grin grin grin Just making me laugh, thinking about it

Abram and/or Abraham holding God up with his various antics & how God showing him how He meant business

(i.e. by asking Abram to set himself & his household up for a kick, literally, where it hurts the most)

Christianity Etc › Re: Justified—by Faith Or Works? by Daiquiri: 4:57pm On Dec 03, 2011
Pastor AIO:
It might be worth considering that when Paul was railing against works of the laws he was actually specifically referring to the ritual acts of circumcision and the dietary code.

These were the sticking points in Paul's ministry and as he went on and on about it it is quite possible that he didn't realise that things he said against these particular aspects of the law would eventually be applied to the entire law, including the aspects of moral conduct.

If you don't have to be circumcised then by the same argument you don't have to honour your neighbour's wife.
Joagbaje:
I understand James perspective. He made a good point. Faith is dead without work.

But the truth remains. A man is only justified by faith. Not by the works .that doesnt negate the place of the works
Pastor AIO:
This is a good example.

I think what Paul is trying to say here is that the Circumcision ritual is not what will make you justified before God.  This argument is then later applied to the entire law.
@Pastor AIO

before I post and share on Abraham's "faith", his "work(s)" and the "Circumcision ritual"

hmm well I did ponder on that statement for quite a while and weighed each word against the other.

I did initially see the difference in the terms and fairly understood what that particular poster was trying to communicate.

I also can accept the definitions you offered for each term

and I quite agree. . . "exist" appears rather static to me but "lives" renders the subject being discussed some movement.

However I actually prefer your connotations.
@emofine

Not mentioning earlier that lives and what exists may have more than one meaning was deliberate,

an idea could exist and be alive in the mind or thought but not alive on ground, if you know what I mean

The idea when now alive on the ground, doesnt necessarily means it lives or is animate

Re: God Doesn't Exist, He Lives?

The statement on the fellow poster's signature was a tongue-in-cheek and rhetorical question

asked merely for sport or an effect without expecting a reply

God The chair doesnt exist

- as in, doesnt exist physically or doesnt exist in terms of form or matter,

God it lives?

- as in, lives in a thought or an imagination and not being actual or real?

I saw this statement on a fellow poster's signature and it made me to pause and think for quite sometime.

Perhaps the way I have been evaluting God in a close minded way.

So I contrasted two statements to detect a difference in meaning:-

"God exists"

"God lives"

What do such sentences connote with each term adopted?

How important is it to differentiate between these two terms "exist" and "live". . . what is the difference?
@emofine

They mean God exists, and not as an imagination or fathom

but that, God is real and animate, as it were

Exist = Real; Live = Animate

Dear Daiquiri,

If you see someone who commits i.ncest when you look at yourself,  then you are in dire need of psychiatric help.

Matthew 18:9 is another silly verse that just goes to show my point further.

How debased of morality jesus can be.

Re-iterating, what you conveniently or selectively side stepped

The captivated audience related to the story & didnt protest the action of the earthly and mortal king in the narration

They felt it to be a justified act and that the king was within his rights

Dont you see it? When the chips are down, what happens?

then it says it all, when it's the turn of the Celestial - The Eternal and Immortal King of Kings . . .

Why would a perfect God confuse us with something like this,

This is clear as can be, and it is not subject to any misinterpretation

I agree, Jesus said some nice things. The same way some poisons have a sweet taste.

Just because he made us smile once in a while,

it does not mean we ignore the racism, murder, violation, inc.est, genocides, immoral messages, bigotry, human sacrifice etc
@gotizsata

Gotizsata, my dear brother,

Confusion? I am yet to find God confusing anyone . . .

Well its kind of the look out of the window classic.

When you look out of a window. What do you see?

How about when you look into a mirror. What do you see?

The perpetrator of racism, murder, violation, inc.est, genocides, immoral messages, bigotry, human sacrifice etc. Isnt it?

Anyway, its a narrative metaphor to get the message home.

Your camp, might say, a bit of an overkill with a tinge of OTT

but shall we say, it shocked and awed the audience, just like you already are.

Its birds of the same feather like the below verse and I dont see one-eyed' all over place

"And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out.

It's better to enter the Kingdom of God with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell
"

If that earthly and mortal king's act, which the captived audience can relate to & didnt protest, is justified and capable of being overlooked

Then it says it all when it comes to an Eternal and Immortal King of Kings . . .

Also, needs to be said that your thorough examinations or studious manner is admirable

Important fact worth noting is that angels are not organic, as man is

Man (i.e. human beings) is characterized and distinguished as male or female according to what sêx that man has

Organs defines sêxuality. Angels are asêxual.
