What the atheist scientists are trying to do so is to claim that there is a possibility that the universe came from utter nothingness uncaused .But of cause that's magic not science .

Just know that science has nothing to do with atheism , so I'm not sure why you think an eternal universe stops God from existing . It does not . We theists are arguing for a universe with a beginning because it makes God a personal God who has freedom of will to interfere in the affairs of the universe .

The deists and some panentheists are likely to accept an eternal universe because it makes God an impersonal God .

The argument is kinda complex because an eternal universe does not actually make God an impersonal God .

The scientists he mentioned are the ones who don't want to concede that the universe had a beginning because it strongly suggests that it was caused by God - the transcendent creator of the laws of science or the law-giver .

[At least Hawking was bold enough to circumvent God by saying that God couldn't have created the universe because there was no time before the Big Bang . The simple answer to that 'conundrum' is that God is timeless without the universe and in time with the universe (God became temporal when It created the universe ) .

I think these scientists should bother themselves with understanding other exciting things about our amazing universe because the right questions have already been answered .
