i don't disbelieve them, you're the one that does. The OP asked for the usefulness of communing with God and i gave him common knowledge. Thousands of people from time immemorial have stated that God/gods have been useful to them contrary to the ignoring presumption of the OP. Dogs are useful personally to him but not to millions of other people.

I disbelieve them because tey haven't show us how any God has helped them achieve anything. They do all that is expected of them, after achieving something they simply regurgitate the tradition of attributing it to their God. Nothing there at all. Every body does that. It's a normal human behavior amongst religious people. The claims remain empty, since no one has been able to demonstrate how his/ her God alone has specifically helped him/her achieve any thing, they wouldn't have been able to achieve without doing what was expected of themm

You may want to ask them. The other athletes that lost out or couldn't participate also trained for four years or more, certainly that's not the ONLY determining factor. Many people work very hard, harder than anyone all their lives without results. Wisdom is the principal thing, ever heard that?

My point is saying that God made you achieve something without telling us how he did it is empty. Muslims, Hindus, christians etc all ascribe their various achievements to their various Gods after working hard and doing all that is expected of them.

No scientist has claimed God told him to mix A ND B and he'll get C. All they do is just thank God for giving them the wisdom, something they got through their personal hard work and determination.

Juse as hardmirror said, ab athlete trains very hard for 4 years, competes in an olympic event and wins a medal, then he goes ahead and gives thanks to God. How did God help him win?

I know someone that church helped with 5 million naira. But it happens rarely that it is a big issue, unless if you don't want to admit the truth and reality. You talk as if we don't attend church or live among christians.

The answer is NO.

Of course there are tens of threads where people tate that pastors have helped them. But what is tens out of the many christians that we have around. Nigerian churches are some of the richest institutions that we have in the country. The current emir of Kano stated that he was suprised how much the churches were making when he was the CBN governor. With all their wealth how many people do you personally know that run to the church when they are in need of financial help? People run to their friends and families always. Very few go to the churches because there is no help to be found there.

People run even to people of other religions instead of going to the church when in financial need. I repeat if you are desperately in need of 1 million naira to save your.life your church will be the last place you will visit for assistence. You will start with friends(regardless of religious belief ), Colleagues at work, relatives etc. Your pastor won't be the first person you will run to because you know he won't be of any help to you. We have christians all around us. I don't see them running to their churches for help when in need. They always run to other people. They never run to the church.

Aprt from enriching the lives of their GO'S and those close to their GO's what has the Nigerian church done to the life of the average christian apart from lie to them and take their money? I am tired of life. I feel depressed and like a failure. it seems that God has failed me
there is something I seriously prayed about but it didn't work out and that shattered my faith.
I have read things here from atheists and satanists and there arguments are very convincing and for the first time in my life I doubted the bibles credibility.

Why become an athiest because you feel God disappointed you? That shouldn't be the reason why anybody should become an atheist. Atheism is the realization that no God exist because you got to discover that God is a.man made idea and creation not because you are angry at any God. I left christianity and the entire God enterprise after discovering that it is a man made institution and creation.

It'snot an intelligence contest. Yahweh remains a fictional character in a story book. Some atheist chose to learn from his evil deeds. Why they do that remains their own problem but Yahweh remains one of the most vile characters in fictional stories invented by men.
