There is no dearth of evidence for an eternal universe and all evidence point to a universe with a beginning .

They have speculated that the universe had a begining. Allen Guth has clearly said the BB is purely based on assumptions just like the theory of evolution. Origin science is filled with assumptions and suppositions.

Wether the universe had a begining or not no one knows. It's just like me bringing evidence from scientists that establish that all life evolved from single cell organisms billions of years ago. That is purely speculative. Same applies to the origin of the universe hypothesis.

Science is very limited and has nothing much to say presently about the origin of the universe, origin of life etc. Origin science is nothing but speculation. Allen Guth his Co author and colleague when asked if the universe is eternal said he doesn't know, he said it's possible but for now we just don't know, since everything is just based on some agreed assumptions and speculations.
