DoctorAlien: It's a waste of time arguing with some unintelligent people, really. How can a simple question be asked, and somebody who claims to be intellectually sound will start answering another thing?
Chai! Please, before you attempt to answer my question, make sure you understand what a moral absolute is. It is not a rule enforced by man. Who enforces rape as a rule? |

DoctorAlien: Humans cannot declare moral absolutes because rapists don't agree that rape is bad. I can choose to state emphatically now that rape is not bad. Just because one random individual is of the opinion that rape is bad, and then 999 999 more people coincidentally are of the same opinion does not convert what could have been a relative(desisting from rape) into an absolute.
If I say that rape is not bad, and I find 2 500 752 rapists who agree with me that rape is not bad, to us(our group of human beings), rape is not bad. But then, is rape really good? Humans have done it already. We have a few groups of people that we have chosen to serve as our law makers. Once they deliberate and make laws we have to accept them whether we agree with them or not. Once the law makers say rape is wrong it is binding on all people that live in that society. That's how all laws were made. Before the religious institutions were used to make and enforce laws, now we don't use them anymore. Discriminating against gays in the wet is an example I an think of. It is now on the same level with racism. I know many people living in the West that detest gays and will happily discriminate against them, but they can't because a few law makers sat down and made it the law that gays must be accepted and not descrininated against. Majority of the American people living in the South were totally against civil rights and equality when the civil rights act was passed into law. A few law makers passed it and it became law. Blacks had the same rights as whites despite the fact that majority of the white were totally against it. Racism open racism and segregation became a crime in the US after the civil rights law was passed by law makers including those from the south whose constitutents were against it. |

DoctorAlien: So far so good, no "atheist" has been able to tell us why they cling to moral absolutes, when they can't even tell who declared them absolute.
Conclusion: atheism is a very illogical ism? Moral absolutes were declared by humans. Rape is wrong because it inflicts pains on the victims. Human beings have the ability to sell reflect and empathize with others, that is why over the years we evolve some moral absolutes. Morality must be learned. Even your God did not see any thing wrong with rape as he rewards rapist with their victims as marriage partners. Humans thought themselves some moral absolutes. Societies that believe in no deities thought themselves that as well. Buddhist have no deities but they have all come to see rape as a bad thing through consensus. Human beings didn't just start with believing that rape was wrong. They had to be taught that rape was wrong. The bible doesn't see rape as wrong. God told the Jews to take virgins in the lands they won over as war booty. But our morality has evolved so much that today we look at that ancient Jews and piss at their way of life. Morality is a man made concept and as such it is man that has to define it, accept it and enforce it. |

felixomor: Quiet. What u r calling slavery(biblical servant by agreement ) is not the slavery that people in africa were being kidnapped to europe and America without conscent for.
Dont tie things up from two completely different eras to create confusion. You sabi lie. Which servant by agreement? However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 So buying slaves and treating them as property is servant by agreement abI. Wuna sabi tell lies for Jesus oo. |

jonbellion: I think the best way to put that statement for the followers of the divine command theory is that the Abrahamic God seemed to portray a very arbituary form of morality A good example was that the Abrahamic God after giving Moses the 10 commandments saw the isrealites worshipping a golden calf. He wanted to destroy them all(genocide) but was talked out of it by Moses ironically after giving the commandment thou shalt not kill That was a very arbitrary use of morality and Moses made him change his mind. Now if they are proposing thy idea of absolute morality then why did morality change so drastically in the new testament If something is wrong only because God says so then is it really wrong. This actually validates the statement above Why do these people always want to eat their cake and have it Is this a joke Smh *walks out of thread* I can give very cogent points as to why some moral principles are absolute and how men formed such absolute moral codes. I don't consider him as a honest person as such I am just answering him the way he answers others. |

You must not make foolish comments all the time. The action of your God embarrases you. I wast the one that was telling guys to marry their rape victims. It was your God who you claim to be the source of morality. Even you are ashamed of his injunctions. Will you allow a man that rapes your daughter to marry her? Your God doesn't see anything wrong with it and told people to do so. |

Sir , your signature says: religion started when man had enough intellect to form profound questions but not enough to find answers for them ; considering that atheists in the ancient times believed the universe was eternal including matter ,they also had ridiculous beliefs about the ingredients that make up all substances in the universe , should we say that atheism was born out of ignorance and that theists were right about the universe with a finite past and the contingency argument ? |

DoctorAlien: That women should desist from driving is not a moral absolute.
Don't prove to us that you're not intelligent. Humans can create moral.absolute laws. A few men ended slavery and criminalized slavery. Same with genocide. A few men criminalized it. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Exposing The Inconsistencies In Atheism by dalaman: 8:16pm On Jan 10, 2017 |
DoctorAlien: Can the views of a group of persons turn something that could be a relative(desisting from rape) into an absolute? Yes. In Saudi Arabia the views of a few men have turnew something like driving for women into a crime. Today in Saudi Arabia if you drive as a woman you will be arrested for breaking the law. Remember humans were the ones that formulated and legislated laws for slavery and when they realized that slavery wasn't good they legislated and formulated laws against it. Humans are the ones that created all moral laws of conduct. Religion is only an enforcing mechanism. Read the US Constitution as a perfect example. |

GOD gave man freewill. As such, man can do whatever he wants. But he is not free from the consequences of his actions. Any action has a consequence.
Are you confused? How can you say we have no purpose and then say that evolution programmed purpose into us? What is the purpose of man from the evolution POV? What is the purpose of humans? The universal purpose of humans that is acceptable by all humans on earth is what? |
