MT:That is part of the problem we have in this part of the world - MAUDLIN SENTIMENT! It is almost impossible to engage in an intellectual discussion with a sentimental person. The sentiment is why many believe that the streets of other countries are paved with 24 carat gold. They resign good jobs, sell off their houses, cars, appliances and in some cases their parents' houses as well, and leave Nigeria with no solid plan, just to become 3rd class citizens abroad. Truly appalling! |
The initial N615,000 demand from labour was actually unrealistic. They probably started that high because they knew that the government team would also start from a ridiculously low figure. |
LordIsaac:Yes indeed. Every violent uprising carries the risk of sudden deaths. |
NaijaphiliaBlog:And here we go again! Yet another coup attempt. Africa! |
NaijaphiliaBlog:Interesting! Just learned something new. |
Man, you are funny! JapaNinja: |
Mynd44:Thank you! I don't understand the level of self-hate that would make someone continuously run down his own country. |
Human bones? Wow! |
MajorOvakporaye:Ha! Ha!Ha! Major Ovakporaye, you are really funny. This is one of the reasons I love visiting Nairaland - to get a good laugh. I mean, you already know this garfield1's: -- Real name -- Place of residence and -- Type of apartment. |
Iremis:My thought exactly! However, it has already gone viral on Twitter and TotalEnergies Nigeria Plc is now investigating the incident. https://saharareporters.com/2024/04/29/total-energies-vows-investigate-its-lagos-station-forces-customers-buy-meat-pies-being |
samuel9000:Interesting... And what if they later start asking us to buy chicken and chips plus a drink, before buying fuel? |
Interesting! Surely getting better. |
This is a good development. |
malali:Perhaps?!! Really interesting. Knew crude oil was discovered at Ibaji some years back but didn't realize Kogi is already pumping it out. |

Sunnyrado:Opay actually gives interest on a daily basis. |
DonMarkuzi:Really? Actually, it has! It was the lingering June 12 crisis that led to the resignation of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (to boot, a military head of state!) in August 1993. |
Tjra:Yes... some promised 100% interest per annum or more. Technically, it is possible to make even more than that from Agriculture. However, it is not possible to consistently promise and deliver such returns to tens of thousands of subscribers. |
This is a surprise to me... I thought some of these platforms were genuine. NaijaphiliaBlog: |
NaijaphiliaBlog:Nice one! |
Tallesty1:Why is that? Is it that yam is highly perishable, that it requires processing before export, or some other reason? |
Kankawormm:What precisely do you need - foodstuff, a job, money, counselling / mentoring? |
sleek214:This deserves to be framed and hung at every port of departure in every African country! |
Now I'm REALLY starting to enjoy this thread. |
... Interesting chart!

Hi DanielBen, what you have described is not peculiar to you. Lack of self-confidence, stage fright, etc can VERY easily be overcome. How? The easiest and fastest way to overcome EVERYTHING you have described is to get involved in activities that essentially force you to interact with others and to speak before an audience. For example: 1. Join a book reading club. 2. Join a group in church like the Sunday School teachers, the choir, the evangelism/outreach group etc. 3. Actively participate during Bible reading or Sunday School sessions in church. 4. Attend and participate actively in your neighbourhood, Estate or town meetings. 5. Make a habit of reading slowly (while standing in front of a mirror) for at least 30 minutes everyday. 6. Any other activity that forces you to speak to other people. By applying this methodology, I've had very shy teenagers in my church who have now turned into confident motivational speakers. Best of luck! |
