eddiebruk: Exactly, the N-Deltans have failed to realize that, they pretend as if they are not aware of those who are stealing the returns of oil from them all in the name of being their leaders, I am from Warri, but not in Nigeria although i should be back anytime soon, i have lived there since birth until 3years ago, so i know exactly how they deceive the youths to believe anything they say why the youths themselves act ignorantly like they don't know what is going on all in the name of God father-ismNow you are from warri, tell me what you have done to stop the stealing politicians, apart from complaining? You are part of those who have been told for long that you cannot manage your resources, and now you believe that you are second class. The northerners and SWers should help you manage your resources... This country was better run when governments depended on taxes..... Is the government of delta state run on taxes gotten from the people? do the LGAs pay taxes. Your inability to see how the present system enhances corruption is oustanding |
Sloan: That is a wrong analogy! Cooking food implies addition of value by labour and costs. The ND does not add ANY value to the oil so there is a big difference. One quick comment I will make is that asking for 50% derivation is rather shortsighted. This is an opportunity to ask to fiscal federalism, resource control, etc in a comprehensive federal restructuring not just trying to make a quick buck of 50% derivation.Apart from the resource control you rightly talked about, I dont understand what you are saying about adding value and cost? the cost of producing a barrel of oil is more than $10 a barrel, did the Nigerdeltans have a chance to control their resources, get loans and technical pathners and refused too. Please change that statement that no value or work is done to bring oil to the surface.. if the FG ask Hausa and Yarubas to stop tilling their lands and the FG decides to use Igbos to till the lands, patherning forign exparts, do you think that will be fair? |
eddiebruk: The whole country doesn't think so, it is the N-Deltans that are making too much noise with oil and threats of breaking up which is now causing National Issues, and since it is now a National Issues every contribution made by Non-N-Deltan regions seems to look like a negative thought/influence on your ideasBut look at it like this, what is the contribution of the rest of the country to the expenditure of the FG? |
eddiebruk: Have you seen now that the problem is from the N-Delta and not the Northerners..? the people that gives others the right to intrusion of the N-Delta areas are your community, local government, state and federal Government, if you start your fight from the grassroots with your community leaders, you will get the truth that the FG have actually been paying your communities, but there are people who are stealing those benefits without your own Notice.we dont want people to sit around idle while government pays them, they can mine the oil themselves.... Imagin if the FG ask the SW people to sit aside while the FG imports others to till thie land and produce the cocoa, and then pay the community leader something? Can you see that this is a very faulty system? People need to be engaged to determine their own destinies |
manny4life: Nigeria isn't rich compared to her population, we're POOR, however, Oil receipts isn't the only revenue realized, non oil receipts includes corporate and individual taxes, VAT, agency revenues like Customs, NNPC,etc...Yet but oil contributes more than 80% |
eddiebruk: The Bolded will only be achieved if you give less attention to Oil and encourage agriculture and other productive measures besides oil as you are already doing. N-Deltans thinks Oil is the only thing that can lift them away from povertyEven if 9ja deltan think so, why should the whole contry think the same way? |
eddiebruk: Exactly what i want you to admit, but truth be told, the Oil has made %90 of those in the affairs of the N-Delta corrupt and as such should be regarded as being greedy and selfishWhat has made them corrupt is the system of free oil allocations to politicians, what I am asking for is a system where the communities and land owners mine the oil themselves and pay taxes to the government.... these are two different ways of doing things...he who plays the piper dictates the tune |
eddiebruk: This greediness pulled Delta State away from Bendel State which was then both Benin City and Delta State, now Benin City has been in existence without Oil for over 21years now, and yet can still be compared to be in same social economical level as Delta State with her oil, so tell me, how has the Oil made Delta State any better....?Guy try to look at things from a broader perspective.... if oil that generates $100b annually for the federal comes from 6 or so states what are the other 30 states contributing? Assuming my figure is correct, right now the FG would have a pantry sum of $45b annually to spend on all its projects and salaries. 55% going to the States and LGAs... But if each region struggles to produce just $50b ber annum, the country would be generating $100b +(5 X $50b) or $350b. At 50% tax, the FG would collect $175b annually, that is a lot better that the $45b we are collecting now... stop focusing on the Nigerdelta and start becomeing productive...thats all |
eddiebruk: How about the large number of farm produce that are being imported from the north into the South..? Tomatoes, Rice, Yam Tubers, Even Livestock, Cow's and others...? have you heard from the Northerners claiming to be the major contributors of such good and as a result should be considered a larger percent of Agricultural Budget...?The question is how much of this contributes to the money needed by the federal government to run the country? How much of the agrictural produce is part of the money the states use to run thier budgets? Isnt it surprising that in the 60s the northern regoin taxes farmers to run it's self but cannot do it today because everyone is waiting for free oil? |
eddiebruk: Don't kill yourself with hypertension, I am from Warri, even though i am not in support of your lousy reasons, you should keep quiet and think about why are these things happening if those whom we call the N-Deltan leaders are not giving them the reason to do so, Your own Leaders are responsible, they are the ones selling out your rights, so if you want the right thing to be done, start with your leaders from your grassroot, put the frauds of DESOPADEC, NDDC, and other NDELTA organization into consideration and you will see how your own leaders are responsible for the loot and not the northerners, the leaders deceive you by making you believe that the Northerners are responsible for your setback, but do you know that Former DESOPADEC chairman (Named: Okrika) stole stole $17Million dollars in cash that was found in his house and till today nothing was done about that situation..?Hope you know that individuals being corrupt does not in anyway affect the quest for greater autonomy for the nigerdelta and resource control... |
ilugunboy: Well...the truth is the protection of Nigerian territorial waters fall on the Nigerian Navy and not NIMASSA.Territorial waters is different from rivers and creeks, that much I know |
nagoma: Perhaps Tompolo will give them part of his loot and they can then be happy. You keep saying "their wealth " as if those goons did anything to contribute to the oil presence. It is the wealth of the Nigerian nation and of course people who live nearby and have their lives affected by the oil industry must be compensated. They had an option in 1960; they could have asked for or fought for their independence from Britain. They didn't , they chose to go with the Nigerian nation.Stop being silly, does anyone contribute to putting any natural resource anywhere? arable land, gold , coal or oil. Does that mean someone whould bully you out of it? As at 1960, each region exploited their resources and paid 50% tax to the center...the FG was not responsible for the farmers tilling their land to produce groundnut or cocoa... |
eddiebruk: How about the large number of farm produce that are being imported from the north into the South..? Tomatoes, Rice, Yam Tubers, Even Livestock, Cow's and others...? have you heard from the Northerners claiming to be the major contributors of such good and as a result should be considered a larger percent of Agricultural Budget...?Chief, do the farmers give it to the south for free? Ijaws are asked to leave the resource, the FG colabos with other nigerians to mine it and they give whatever they decide to political administrators who are not choosen by the nigerdelta people... why are you comparing this two things? |
take dat: So the membership of the conference will be on the basis of government invitation? Reminiscent of OBJ's NPRC charade. Then the conference is Dead Before Take Off!Tinubu can decide not to come, he is not under any obligation to come |
eddiebruk: It is because of people that think like you do that makes others wants this country to be divided, consider this situation..? What if it was the Northerners that has this same oil..?And this is the great mistake you make, no country ever pulled itself out of poverty by sharing proceeds from sales of natural resource...the only place this has happened is in very lightly populated middle east countries with more oil than nigeria and less population than delta state....that is not an economic model that can work in a highly populated country like ours? Each state needs to think of how to industrise based on the natural resources found in its environment, this will create jobs and pull people out of poverty, free money distrubution will not encourage governments or governors to do this. If funding is a problem meduim and long terms loans can be sourced with the governors thinking creatively...again governments dont need to be involved in running the business...else they will continue to be poor forever |
eddiebruk: Dubai has Oil just as Nigeria does, how many times have you heard of a particular region claiming ownership of her resources...? if you want to claim ownership of a Natural resources that is meant for the whole country, then you should be paying for the Rains and Air you breath.I have not heard of it many times because I dont listen to local dubai news... what do you define as natural resources? For me natural resi=ources are 1-Human resources 2-Mineral 3-Land mass, Arable land 4-Rivers and sea 5-Air 6-ETC Does it make sense that the government of the country is run on natural resources from only one part of the country? Stop sharing and start contributing, and see how all the parts of the country will wake...because it will be stand up for yourself or die.. |
nagoma: Then They should get the hell out of Nigeria and move to their tiny enclave in the swamp and creeks! If we cannot leave equally in one country, then we can go, no qualms... but in the near future, every body needs to say what they are bringing to the table in this union. |
idupaul: Be fooling yourself there and live in denial . But this will come to haunt you and ur descendants in no distant time. And while you wait for that time why don't you enlighten us on what services exactly global west is offering Nimasa.. How many employee does global west have? , How many Ijaws are employed by GW? Where is GW office located ? Has GW been paying its due company income tax?I thought the onus is on you...the accuser to prove that he is guilty of corruption? Because before shouting corruption...you should at least have some little shread of evidence |
ilugunboy: Good....so whose statutory duty the business of protecting Nigerian internal waters all this time before the contract was given?Appearently, Nimasa, who have contracted it to Tompolo...I may be wrong... The improtant thing is that I dont have all the facts, but I dont start shouting curruption and funding Niger delta army like a loony toon |
nagoma: Take this posting seriously it's very true. Tompolo is the Minister of Defense for both Nigeria and ND. Most the arms they import and amass in the ND are paid with crude oil( dubbed as oil theft but the presidents turns a blind eye). Some are paid through Tompolo's company. Among the amnesty militants thousands are on fighter pilots and aircraft maintenance training in canada, south Africa, brazil and the US, all in preparation for war with nigeria, after Jonathan's Presidency. tompolo's so called sea patrol team are the ND Navy. Niger Delta republic is already existing with Deasini clerk as the oil minister and Ngozi iweala as the prime minister. It is a hybrid with Nigeria and we have one president who cares only about the ND republic.i don't know if they have started taking delivery of their fighter jets.Even if it is true....ask yourself one question, are majority of the Nigerdeltans happy with the present arrangement of Nigeria? If the North has used the threat of force to make the Nigerdeltans to surrender their wealth without getting anything in return, shouldnt they build thier capacity so that any future negotiations can be on equal terms? Start thinking of how to contribute to the national purse and stop all these your paranoia, its bad for your health |
lygn19: Nobody says u ppl cannot go into business,,,but pls I want u to always have d Niger delta ppl at hearts... Tell asara to relocate that University to hz home town just As EK clark did, that wud help matters here. THANK YOUClark decides to establish in his home town, Asari prefers Benin republic, why is the personnel preference of people an issue? how does this affect the Niger delta struggle for resource control? The struggle for resource control does not say all militants should be poor or must establish business in 9ja delta...people should stop delibrately mixing issues to give a dog a bad name.. |
ilugunboy: Nwanne.....if you have to defend things or rationalize them....let it be those things that at least make sense...The nigerian navy does have business in the internal waters of nigeria only the internal boundary waters. Just as the army does not have any business internally in nigeria.. |
Without going into the details of the services provided, comparing with similar services around the world or even in Nigeria, people have concluded that it is corruption...since when did being Ijaw become a crime in Nigeria. There were several militants in the struggle who were persuaded to drop their arms and take up legitimate business, if few of them become millionaires, how does that translate to abandonment of the struggle? So if business opportunities present themselves, Tompolo should refuse and say because I was involved in the struggle, I should allow a yopruba man to benefit? does his company not employ 9ja deltans? Instead of the lazy goons here to focus on how each part of the country can contribute meaningfully to the national purse we have a gathering of vultures seeking to use negative media to destroy the niger delta struggle. Wickedness in its truest form. |
lygn19: What a very small world we live in... Is dz not d same Tampolo dat wz rumoured to have bought a private Jet... I wonder how buying a private wud change d life of Niger deltans dat re suffering(and he calls himself a freedom fighter, he bis fighting for freedom from what?)...Show me a law morally that says a freedom fighter must be poor and not go into business? The fight for Niger deltans to control their resources lives on |
raytony: First, Asari Mujahid Dokubo established his own university, now Tom polo has 325 paid into his account. Abeg, with all these corrupt cases making headlines, I see why ASUU believe FG has the money to meet their demands. But sha e be like say if man pikin wan make am for Nigeria, na to go study militancy for Dokubo school be dat o.Where do you see curruption here? |
SLIDE waxie: This is m favorite amongst the whole epistle:If not for your tribalism you would realise that resource control is different from derivation you are talking about, if 50% tax is implemented under resource control, the oil industry controled by the niger deltans will pay the Tax, the state governors will be forced to create condusive environments if they want the to increase their tax baseline... This is against the present system, where the 9ja deltans are denied opportunities in then oil industry by the lagos axis politics |
eddiebruk: We are talking about Niger Deltans here not Nigeria as a whole, Niger Deltans are greedy, selfish and Lazy, take it or leave itWhy shouldnt the 9ja deltans talk about their oil, isnt it their resource? This is really irresponsible thinking on your part? If nigeria generates $100b annually from 6 states, and shares between the 36states and FG, would it be better if the country was generating $600b from the 36states? |
eddiebruk: I just cant understand why we Niger Deltan's are so greedy and selfishI am surprised at this? its either you are not a real niger deltan or very ignorant |
SLIDE waxie: Tinubu fuccked up big time! This is exactly why we can live with SWers, too arogant over nothing, empty boasting and inslults, thats all they offer us. |
OsunOriginal: Okoro wants to reap where they have not planted anything - their usual way of life. You are supporting the dumbo in ASO rock and at the same time you want us to take you seriously.I remember that Rochas told Igbos recently that APC is the best way the IGbos can get to be president... Now if a yoruba man is president now, he will like to be president for the next 8years, then it will go to another notherner for 8years, hence the SE will have to wait for another 24years starting from 2015. Thus under APC the Igbos can hope to be president 2039...Is this Rochas intension? |
The man Tinubu, is making so much money from the present that he will not like anything that may change it... right now, oil money comes into lagos, his party divide and kill, and nobody asks questions..... Most likely after the constitutional conference, Nigerdeltan are going to insist that all regions contribute to the center instead, this will definately affect how he generates his funds, the question will now be, do lagosians want to continue funding Tinubus wealth? it will now be up to Lagosians to decide alone, no more free oil funds to steal... The same for all other states, including the niger delta states |
Ngwakwe: You failed to remove the equity accruing to Oil Companies.Ngwakwe, the FGs revenue is not more than $100b annually, more than 80% is from oil...(whatever calculations)...now remember that the FG is only entitled to 45% of this, 55% goes to States and local govts from the link I posted, the Australian govt earns $550b per annum for 22million people...check that out |
