eddiebruk: Now you are from warri, tell me what you have done to stop the stealing politicians, apart from complaining? You are part of those who have been told for long that you cannot manage your resources, and now you believe that you are second class. The northerners and SWers should help you manage your resources... This country was better run when governments depended on taxes..... Is the government of delta state run on taxes gotten from the people? do the LGAs pay taxes. Your inability to see how the present system enhances corruption is oustanding |

Sloan: Apart from the resource control you rightly talked about, I dont understand what you are saying about adding value and cost? the cost of producing a barrel of oil is more than $10 a barrel, did the Nigerdeltans have a chance to control their resources, get loans and technical pathners and refused too. Please change that statement that no value or work is done to bring oil to the surface.. if the FG ask Hausa and Yarubas to stop tilling their lands and the FG decides to use Igbos to till the lands, patherning forign exparts, do you think that will be fair? |

eddiebruk: we dont want people to sit around idle while government pays them, they can mine the oil themselves.... Imagin if the FG ask the SW people to sit aside while the FG imports others to till thie land and produce the cocoa, and then pay the community leader something? Can you see that this is a very faulty system? People need to be engaged to determine their own destinies |

eddiebruk: What has made them corrupt is the system of free oil allocations to politicians, what I am asking for is a system where the communities and land owners mine the oil themselves and pay taxes to the government.... these are two different ways of doing things...he who plays the piper dictates the tune |
Politics / Re: New Revenue Formula...n/ Delta Demands 50% Derivation by DaLover(m): 1:26pm On Oct 14, 2013 |
eddiebruk: Guy try to look at things from a broader perspective.... if oil that generates $100b annually for the federal comes from 6 or so states what are the other 30 states contributing? Assuming my figure is correct, right now the FG would have a pantry sum of $45b annually to spend on all its projects and salaries. 55% going to the States and LGAs... But if each region struggles to produce just $50b ber annum, the country would be generating $100b +(5 X $50b) or $350b. At 50% tax, the FG would collect $175b annually, that is a lot better that the $45b we are collecting now... stop focusing on the Nigerdelta and start becomeing productive...thats all 1 Like |

eddiebruk: The question is how much of this contributes to the money needed by the federal government to run the country? How much of the agrictural produce is part of the money the states use to run thier budgets? Isnt it surprising that in the 60s the northern regoin taxes farmers to run it's self but cannot do it today because everyone is waiting for free oil? |

nagoma: Stop being silly, does anyone contribute to putting any natural resource anywhere? arable land, gold , coal or oil. Does that mean someone whould bully you out of it? As at 1960, each region exploited their resources and paid 50% tax to the center...the FG was not responsible for the farmers tilling their land to produce groundnut or cocoa... |
Politics / Re: New Revenue Formula...n/ Delta Demands 50% Derivation by DaLover(m): 12:51pm On Oct 14, 2013 |
eddiebruk: Chief, do the farmers give it to the south for free? Ijaws are asked to leave the resource, the FG colabos with other nigerians to mine it and they give whatever they decide to political administrators who are not choosen by the nigerdelta people... why are you comparing this two things? |

eddiebruk: And this is the great mistake you make, no country ever pulled itself out of poverty by sharing proceeds from sales of natural resource...the only place this has happened is in very lightly populated middle east countries with more oil than nigeria and less population than delta state....that is not an economic model that can work in a highly populated country like ours? Each state needs to think of how to industrise based on the natural resources found in its environment, this will create jobs and pull people out of poverty, free money distrubution will not encourage governments or governors to do this. If funding is a problem meduim and long terms loans can be sourced with the governors thinking creatively...again governments dont need to be involved in running the business...else they will continue to be poor forever |

eddiebruk: I have not heard of it many times because I dont listen to local dubai news... what do you define as natural resources? For me natural resi=ources are 1-Human resources 2-Mineral 3-Land mass, Arable land 4-Rivers and sea 5-Air 6-ETC Does it make sense that the government of the country is run on natural resources from only one part of the country? Stop sharing and start contributing, and see how all the parts of the country will wake...because it will be stand up for yourself or die.. |

If the North has used the threat of force to make the Nigerdeltans to surrender their wealth without getting anything in return, shouldnt they build thier capacity so that any future negotiations can be on equal terms? Without going into the details of the services provided, comparing with similar services around the world or even in Nigeria, people have concluded that it is corruption...since when did being Ijaw become a crime in Nigeria. There were several militants in the struggle who were persuaded to drop their arms and take up legitimate business, if few of them become millionaires, how does that translate to abandonment of the struggle? So if business opportunities present themselves, Tompolo should refuse and say because I was involved in the struggle, I should allow a yopruba man to benefit? does his company not employ 9ja deltans? Instead of the lazy goons here to focus on how each part of the country can contribute meaningfully to the national purse we have a gathering of vultures seeking to use negative media to destroy the niger delta struggle. Wickedness in its truest form. |

SLIDE waxie: This is m favorite amongst the whole epistle: If not for your tribalism you would realise that resource control is different from derivation you are talking about, if 50% tax is implemented under resource control, the oil industry controled by the niger deltans will pay the Tax, the state governors will be forced to create condusive environments if they want the to increase their tax baseline... This is against the present system, where the 9ja deltans are denied opportunities in then oil industry by the lagos axis politics 1 Like |

If nigeria generates $100b annually from 6 states, and shares between the 36states and FG, would it be better if the country was generating $600b from the 36states? |

Now if a yoruba man is president now, he will like to be president for the next 8years, then it will go to another notherner for 8years, hence the SE will have to wait for another 24years starting from 2015. The man Tinubu, is making so much money from the present that he will not like anything that may change it... right now, oil money comes into lagos, his party divide and kill, and nobody asks questions..... Most likely after the constitutional conference, Nigerdeltan are going to insist that all regions contribute to the center instead, this will definately affect how he generates his funds, the question will now be, do lagosians want to continue funding Tinubus wealth? it will now be up to Lagosians to decide alone, no more free oil funds to steal... The same for all other states, including the niger delta states |

Ngwakwe: You failed to remove the equity accruing to Oil Companies. Ngwakwe, the FGs revenue is not more than $100b annually, more than 80% is from oil...(whatever calculations)...now remember that the FG is only entitled to 45% of this, 55% goes to States and local govts from the link I posted, the Australian govt earns $550b per annum for 22million people...check that out |
