dami24: Hi all,
I’m very worried about something, don’t know if anyone has been in such fix before.
So I applied for Uk visa on 12th and applied for Italy visa on 14th. I paid for keep my passport with UK in order to be able to submit for Italy visa processing.
1. I didn’t know that I will have to resubmit my passport when Uk wants ti make a decision, I thought they’ll just courier the vignette to me to stick on by myself.
Fine, I found that out on processing day and thought okay I’ll just resubmit when Italy own comes back.
But now I have found out that Italy processing particularly takes forever and apparently if you don’t resubmit your passport within a specific time frame for UK decision making, they will deny you. 😭 It’s been a long month and a half. But my passport is finally back with both UK and Italy visas. |

Blessedsteph: Mine took a day. Submitted 11am and the next day before 10am I got a collection mail (TLs Abuja) Wonderful. So quick. I’m hoping we are able to resubmit the passport tomorrow. Got a text that passport has returned from Italy embassy today. Hopefully I can collect from TLS italy and handover to TLS UKVI immediately. Cant believe how absolutely nerve wrecking this process has been 😭 |

Blessedsteph: Hi Dami any luck with your Italian visa? How many days has it been now? Got a call from British embassy yesterday asking me to submit my passport to TLS contact. Exactly a week after biometrics. Hasn’t been returned yet…. I mailed them asking them to return the passport that I need it for something…. They responded asking for details and asked for bank statement…. I mailed them again on Friday asking to please just return the passport. They responded on Monday that they will return it that Monday. I am still waiting. Today is like our 26 or 27th working day to return it to ukvi😭 |

realmidas: Has anybody applied to and/or received any decisions from the Italian embassy lately? Awfully quiet here. It appears they are very slow with decisions as I submitted my application on the 14th of April and still have not heard a word. People I know that went via the French consulate received their decisions within a week. Make it make sense. it is seriously impacting my summer travel arrangements. It’s very annoying to be honest. Submitted on the 14th as well. They have been radio silent. Had to send them an email requesting for the passports back because we need them for another travel arrangement we had made. Good enough they replied that email asking for our details. I was thinking we should have the passports back by now but it’s almost 2 weeks since that communication with them, nothing! It’s so disheartening. |

Blackfinegirl: You can "borrow" your passport from italy embassy and give them back when you are done. I asked for it back the week before last that I will send it back or if it’s possible for them to fast track the application and just make a Decision before they send it back. And they responded asking for our details but almost 2 weeks later, the passport is still not back |

Blessedsteph: I am about doing same But submitting to UK first on Monday May 15 for 10yrs standard visa with my daughter. Then june 8th to France embassy. Hoping UK comes out before my June 8th appointment. Was hoping you ask the TLS people how long you have to turn it in? Keep me posted please. Oh UK visit visa will definitely be ready before 8th June. We submitted for UK on a Wednesday and by Thursday the following week, they called for passport return. We really should have just waited but were trying to avoid traveling to Abuja twice for application submissions |

Blessedsteph: Hi Dami I submitted today and from the document I signed for KMP, it says you have 28 working days to resubmit your passport or risk losing your visa. Hope this helps. All the best Hi Blessedsteph, thank you so much for this information. Please just for confirmation, is it 28 working days stated or just 28 days? |

Blessedsteph: Hi Dami is there any update on this? Did Uk give a specified timeline that the passport must be brought in? I read somewhere it’s 28 days? I haven’t got any update. When they called to request the passports, they didn’t give any timeline. They have called twice so far. |

Champora: For the italian visa: I applied on the 12th of Jan, it got sent to the embassy on 13th jan, received an email from TLS that it was ready for collection on the 23rd and 24th DHL delivered it to me. That’s a record… 10 days! That’s wonderful. Did you have prior travel history? did you have any issues with documentation at TLS? Oh my goodness , so many questions I have…If you don’t mind, can you tell all the documents you submitted? |

Newbiein2016: Not familiar with this scenario - ask in the UK visit thread for guidance as well.
It looks to me you'll have to wait it out with Italy and send a letter explaining the situation to the UKVI team - not sure if it will help. Thanks for your response. I’ll ask there as well. |

Why is this thread so dead? Abi no one is going to Italy these days. When I was applying for Italy visa, I searched so hard for a thread for Italy and couldn’t find. Had to be asking questions on the France thread. Finally found this thread today after submitting visa application yesterday.
Now I am worried by the time scales I have seen that it takes to process the Italy visa.
Issue is I applied for uk visa on 12th April and paid for keep my passport so that I can apply for Italy visa on 14th.
I didn’t know that I will have to resubmit my passport for UK decision making. Okay no wahala, I decided I will submit after passport comes back from italy consulate. Now I am seeing that italy processing can take forever and apparently if you don’t resubmit passport for uk visa within a specified number of days, it can result in refusal?
This kind living on the edge kind of risk I have gone to take like this I don’t even understand it 🤦🏻♀️ |

hunee: In addition, if you have a previous UK, US , Canada visa, you do not fall into first time category. You are a frequent traveler. Wishing you all the best. Really? I chose first time traveler already. Meanwhile I have previous Uk and US visas. My application on TLS is showing as first time traveler. Is there a way I can change it please? |

Hi, please advise, which do you think is better.
I am applying to Italy embassy but I also intend to visit Greece. Do you think I should mention that and do flight itinerary for Greece as well or I should just put the entire duration for Italy and then visit as many schengen states as I want when I get the visa.
Please advise. Thanks |

vozkini: Visa alert. Submitted 29th Passport return 6th April Visa issued 5th April. Applied last year for business visa but was refused. Applied for UK thereafter and traveled to UK and come. Back still valid. Then applied again for 8 trip. Visa approved for 24 days validity to stay 8 days. I just observed that UK, Usa and Canada or Australian gives you 50~70% credit for them to consider issuing you visa. Congrats. Please which schengen consulate did you apply to? Did you use and agent? I’m trying to apply for my parents through italy but it all seems so stressful |
