EducationAppeal For Re-opening And Extension OF Direct Entry Registration Till April 30th by damilare442(op): 10:47pm On Mar 14, 2019
Consequent upon the unprecedented closure of the Direct Entry form registration portal on Thursday, 21st February 2019, I am compelled to write and appeal for an extension and the re-opening of the Direct Entry registration till 30th April, 2019.

From precedence, the sales and registration of DE form normally extends to the month of June and beyond on
yearly basis.

This practice has always given opportunity for prospective admission seekers of IJMB, OND, NCE,
HND, Cambridge, and JUPEB programs to meet up and complete their DE form registration before closure.

Recall that IJMB examination ended on 12th February 2019, while students for the 2019 Cambridge and JUPEB
programs have not even received their examination numbers with which to fill their DE forms.

I am an admission seeker, who have been trying my luck since 2013. I decided to try A’level this year after writing JAMB five times without luck of securing admission.

The 2019 Cambridge and JUPEB examinations are due to come up between the months of May and June.
Recall also that the government mandated the academic institutions to release the students for holiday in preparation for the just concluded 2019 general elections. Consequently, parents called back home their children.

The sudden closure of the DE registration portal during the course of the elections was a bombshell on thousands of prospective applicants who never heard of such notification earlier. Such decision by the office of the JAMB Registrar to close the DE registration portal lacks adequate publicity, contrary to the existing practice.

It would surprise you to know that most institutions and stakeholders even advised their IJMB and JUPEB students to wait for their examination numbers so as to enable them fill their DE forms appropriately.

Sincerely, I understand that the Registrar,Prof. Ishaq Oloyede is a man of immense integrity who is focused on introducing, consolidating and maintaining a more stable educational policy for the country.

I however appeal that such policy should take cognizance of the timing
of the various examination bodies whose candidates are the prospective applicants for the DE Registration.

Improved public awareness on any change in existing practice is also vital. A systemic educational policy is
necessary for an enduring development.

My suggestion, and the ideal practice, is for the UTME registration to close
first before the DE registration.

In the light of these, I implore the media houses, concerned stakeholders and citizens to prevail on the
Registrar to revert the decision, to re-open the DE portal and extend the registration till April 30th 2019 for the sake of the thousands of prospective applicants like me who could not register for the obvious reasons stated above.

On behalf of the millions of Nigerian admission seekers through the Direct Entry, I am hopeful that this
appeal will be given the required attention in favour of public interest.

For the Attentions of:

Registrar of JAMB
All Media Houses
Minister for Education
Minister for Information
Chairman Senate Committee on Education
State Commissioners for Education
National University Commission
National Board for Technical Education
Advanced Level Examination Bodies: IJMB, JUPEB, NABTEB, CAMBRIDGE

Adekunle Oluwafemi Abraham, the activist that instituted a court case over authenticity of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate of the Kwara state governor- elect, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has debunked news going around that his life is being threatened by unknown people.

Abraham said although a lot of people are not happy with the news that he is instituting a case against the Governor-elect said he is safe and not being threatened whatsoever.

Abraham, who said that he instituted the court case based on personal conviction to expose illegality in the society in line with the anti corruption posture of the current administration in the country, added that he did not do it in the name of his community, Apado, in Ilorin East local government area or any political party.

Describing himself as an activist from his school days at the University of Ilorin, Abraham said "instead of being celebrated as a whistle-blower, I'm here being castigated by my community. And I don't see any reason this action should be treated in isolation because there are other cases before this in this country, which did not attract much attention.

"Yes, I'm a member of the PDP, but I'm not holding forth for my party or my community. Nobody is sponsoring me. And I hope I deserve a national honour for this action of mine. If we say we are fighting corruption and are still perpetuating corruption, it means double talk. When are we getting out of this corruption mess we've found ourselves if we go on like this?", he asked rhetorically.

Abraham, had on March 7, 2019, instituted a court case against the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, over the authenticity of the governorship candidate's West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate.

The case with suit number KWS/73/2019 was assigned to a Kwara State High court presided by Justice Adenike Akinpelu while the court gave the APC governorship candidate, now governor-elect, 30 days to defend the authenticity of his WAEC certificate.

Meanwhile, the APC governor-elect, through his media aide, Rafiu Ajakaye, said that, "we are not aware of any such pending case nor a court order in Kwara state or anywhere in Nigeria", described the court case as desperate propaganda of a dying dynasty.

"It is on record that AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq submitted his WAEC certificate for two previous elections -- in 2011 and 2015. In the two instances, the INEC duly vetted his credentials and found them to be genuine. Nothing has changed", he said.

PoliticsBreaking: Atunwa Pulls Out Of Kwara Governorship Race by damilare442(op): 7:55am On Mar 09, 2019
In a new twist, Kwara PDP gubernatorial candidate, Razak Atunwa has pulled out of the gubernatorial race. He announced his withdrawal minutes ago after series of meetings with stakeholders of the party and pledged support for the development of the state by supporting whoever emerges.

Asked why he waited till the morning of the day of the election, his spokesperson said this was due to the pressure on him especially from the party leader Bukola Saraki and all the House of Assembly candidates whose chances will be affected if he had pulled out earlier.

He asked his supporters to troop out en masse to support all the PDP candidates in the house of Assembly race.

PoliticsGov. Ahmed And PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Atunwa In Heated Fight Over Election by damilare442(op): 12:47pm On Mar 08, 2019
Razak Atunwa, the gubernatorial candidate of PDP and incumbent governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed are said to be at war over the sponsorship of Saturday's gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

Maigida was said to have taken the back seat after they lost the Presidential and National Assembly elections which the PDP lost.

Maigida is troubled with the recent ruffling of his appointees who are in EFCC net. The silence of Saraki on the matter is really another dilemma he has to deal with. Some of his close aides are saying that their boss feels neglected and fears going down alone in case the incoming government decides to go after all financial dealings of his administration.

Atunwa on the other hand is unhappy with Maigida over his lackluster support for his ambition. He (Maigida) failed to release fund, and muster the needed support for his ambition.

Saraki has been quiet and won't give financial support to the election holding on Saturday. He claimed he was scammed by the stakeholders after they failed to spend the money he gave them during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

PoliticsSchoolmates Slam Certificate Scandal’s Claim Against Kwara APC Candidate by damilare442(op): 9:09am On Mar 08, 2019
We, the Class of 1976 at the Government College Kaduna wish to strongly condemn attempts to tarnish the image of one of us, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in the name of politics. We are particularly worried that a segment of the media could pick what was clearly a smear message planted on social media and dignified same as a news story. This is dangerous and irresponsible.

We state that AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (1841), who was a member of the Elkanemi House, did not drop out of Government College Kaduna as is being alleged by the mischievous elements behind the smear campaign. We confirm that he duly sat his final secondary school leaving examination in 1976. The onus is on anyone who doubts this verifiable information to prove the contrary with credible evidence.

We urge our politicians to run issues-based campaign on what they have to offer the electorate. This seasonal resort to blackmail and downright falsehood serves no public good especially when such mischief is targeted at professionals and genuine businessmen who venture into politics to make things work for the poor man.

Nairaland GeneralBreaking: Bukola Saraki Flees Ilorin Following Massive Defeat by damilare442(op): 11:13pm On Feb 23, 2019
Senate president Bukola Saraki has reportedly fled Ilorin in the wake of the election collation in Kwara.

Saraki whose party, the PDP is faced with losses in the early results trickling from various polling units and wards across the state is the party leader and the DG of Atiku campaign organization.

The APC gathered lots of support and momentum in the state after he left the party for the PDP last year along with top political bigwigs in the state. The party soon became unpopular among the populace with the introduction of the OTOGE (Enough is Enough) campaign mantra by the APC.

One of his top aides who do not want to be mentioned confided in this medium that “the leader” as he is fondly called has quietly left the state and complained bitterly that he left his political troops, wondering what’s next after this massive defeat.

PoliticsAppeals Court Upholds Apc's Abdulrahman's Candidature by damilare442(op): 12:43pm On Feb 12, 2019
The Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld the nomination of Kwara State APC governorship candidate AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, setting aside an earlier ruling by the state high court.

The appeals court also held that state high courts lack powers to entertain any suit against the INEC.

In a unanimous decision on the interlocutory appeals filed by the APC, Justice Hamma Akawu Barka, who read the ruling, said the originating summons by the Balogun-Fulani's faction was not sealed by the registry and that robs the court of jurisdiction.

He upheld all the four grounds of appeal filed by the APC and set aside the ruling of the Kwara State High Court which was given on Oct 24.

The court said the nomination of AbdulRazaq by the APC National Working Committee was in order.

It said a state executive committee of a party is just a branch of its national headquarters and so has no power or right to conduct any primaries to the offices of the president, governor, National Assembly or State Assembly positions.

The appeals court also slammed the Kwara High Court for entertaining a suit against the INEC on the matter since it has no jurisdiction on the matter.

The court upheld the four grounds of appeals and said the case of the Ishola Balogun-Fulani was defective in all ramifications because the originating summons was incurably detective.

By the ruling, the dissolution of the Ishola Balogun-led APC Executive in Kwara State by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole led National Executive Committee now stands.

Nairaland GeneralMy harrowing experience with Air France by damilare442(op): 2:33pm On Jan 31, 2019
The first time I flew Air France was in 2012. We nearly crashed in Abuja. For 20 minutes, we were tossed up and down to the point that suitcases in the overhead bin were falling out.

The pilot never said a word to us until we touched ground in Abuja. I went to him and said: "Why were you not talking to us?" "I was struggling to control the jet. I've never seen it this bad. I thought we were crashing," he said.

That day, I swore in both testaments never to fly Air France again. I saw this coming as soon as we boarded in Paris. The AC was not working. No power outlets to charge electronic devices. They sure gave us a 15th century aircraft, I said to myself. I guess because we are blacks.

While searching for last minute flight to Nigeria this past Christmas, I saw a good offer from Air France. I talked to a friend who flew Air France recently and he said he enjoyed it.

I decided to give them a second chance. Everything went okay from BWI to Paris. For Paris to Lagos, they gave us an old school Belgian jet. The flight was smooth.

But my return flight was a hell. Air France officials at MMA1 were nasty. First, it took forever to check us in. Their system was running at a snail speed. At the boarding gate, they started weighing hand luggage. It was there that trouble started. We were asked to pay 40k or 105$ for any hand luggage weighing 12kg+

Yes, Air France says 12kg in their policy but why did you not enforce this at check-in when passengers had the opportunity to give things to families? Why did you not talk about this at check-in when passengers, who didn't have money, could have raised money to pay from friends and families?

There was chaos everywhere as passengers cursed out these mean and clueless employees. Some passengers did not fly because they had no money on them to pay 40k at the time of boarding. Many had their credit cards but they would not accept credit cards.

The sad thing about this was that the employees were selective. They let some people go and insisted that others must pay. We later realized that the ones they let go were those that gave them generous bribes at check-in.

This confusion led to flight delay. We did not leave MMA1 till 12.40am. Again, it was an old school Belgian jet. The jet was so slow that by the time we arrived Paris, my U.S. flight had left. They booked me for another flight that took me to DULLES instead of BWI and I had to wait till 2pm for this flight to take off.

I am a frequent flyer, but I stick to Delta. Good bye to Air France.

PoliticsVIDEO: Kwarans Boo, Praise APC Guber Candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq by damilare442(op): 7:34pm On Dec 25, 2018
There was pandemonium in Ilorin on Tuesday when the annual apolitical gathering of Ilorin Emirate Progressive Descendant Union (IEPDU) was hijacked by supporters of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

The incident occurred at the 53rd annual national conference of the IEDPU where the APC candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq was invited to launch the 2019 almanac of the union.

Eye witness account confirmed that prior to the event date, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in the state had mobilized some youth groups to be present at the event and allegedly paid them in order to hijack the gathering and humiliate the APC guber candidate.

This, according to sources is to swiftly react to the slogan of "O' toge" making rounds in the state and also mislead members of the public ahead of the forthcoming general election.

According to a source, "Saraki knows that his days are numbered in Ilorin and Kwara politics. There is no doubt that APC and Abdulrahman Addulrazaq is the choice of the people in the forthcoming poll.

"When the APC governorship candidate was invited to the rostrum to announce his donation, PDP supporters were intimidated by the wide acceptance of the APC candidate in the Emirate city of Ilorin and couldn't withstand the support he enjoys from his supporters.

"They quickly heeded to the instruction and plans of their paymaster to disrupt the event and embarrass the APC candidate.

"I can confirm to you that the people of Ilorin are now wise. There is no going back, we are sending Saraki back to his origin, enough of slavery, enough of armed robbery attack, enough of corruption and enough of politics of deceit." The source said.

An eye witness who was present at the gathering but who doesn't want to be named said the treatment given to the APC candidate is as a result of his unacceptance in the emirate and said all true sons of the emirate are solidly behind Saraki and will ensure he produces the next governor in Kwara.
