In trying to impress, they are always running into issues. It all started with BUBU's visit to Lagos, where the whole state economy was grounded for a whole day. It got him in the news for the wrong reasons.

Next is the London Commonwealth where Bubu not only disgraced the country but lowered his 'alleged' popularity.

The torcano jets purchase, the U.S visits among others.....

You see, you can't rebrand failure by painting it with lies. The skeleton will surely expose the ineptitudes of the painted lies.

My simple advise.....Go Get Your PVC no matter how stressful it may be to get one. That's the only way we can Change the Change.

Do your accounting well.... 'Cause that up there is sh!t!

The network operators would definitely get a dividend of maybe 2 naira per SMS.

Do you know how much they pay entertainers?? In millions bro. For tecno, Dices, Basketmouth, Simi, Davido and other top entertainers. They would probably spend 200mil alone for inviting them with their flights and hotel bookings and the rest.

Let's say 28# per SmS, that's 4.7b.

Flight tickets for the 30 housemate to and fro, plus The two returnees, venue used, the 45mill.

Bro, in all, they spent nothing short of 1b.
They would not have spent 800m on all these. The op analysed the money made from votes alone apart from sponsors and money made from ads.
Nairaland GeneralHas Africa’s First Lecturer Hiphop Artist Given Up On Music? by damilare442(op): 1:38pm On Apr 23, 2018
In 2016, mixed reaction trailed the announcement of a political science lecturer from the University of Ilorin who launched himself into limelight by venturing into Music.

Many saw it as an innovation and the move was widely commended as a creative and audacious move which unofficially landed him the title of “Africa’s first Lecturer Hip hop artist.

The Lecturer who goes by the name Isiaq Abdulwaheed with the stage name “Theorist” rode on the media frenzy generated by this exciting news and released at least 2 songs to his credit.

His most popular song till date is “Pack and Go“; a song that is themed on the controversial topic of divorce. The song got a wide attention from his expectant fans and was widely promoted by his team.

But the attention the song got was short lived as his fans were expecting more songs especially in other themes, dimensions and style. The other tracks which was released thereafter failed to get much traction like the Pack and Go single.

This might have been demoralizing and might have dampened his spirit towards making other hits, bearing in mind the competitive nature of the Nigerian entertainment industry. We suspect he might have gone into oblivion ever since.

A visit to his official Instagram page showed that he has not been active lately especially with music. His page was littered with birthday shoutouts of some strugling and popular Nigerian artistes whom he must have been opportuned to meet.

We all know music is tasking and demanding especially in Nigeria. A lot of challenges needs to be surmounted to be successful in music or entertainment in Nigeria. But one will expect things to go smoothly for Mr “Theorist” going by the fact that he already made a name for himself in the academic sector.

Well, you may say we are judgemental here for saying he has given up on music but it may also be wrong for you to judge us that we judged him. For why on earth will a new artiste who is serious about his trade (music) would not drop any hit in more than a year?

Who knows he might have dumped music and decided to focus on his academic works or perhaps his school (University of Ilorin) which is known for ‘high handedness” might have issued him strikes which could have made distance himself from music.

Nairaland GeneralDo You Have A Blog With At Least 3 Million Ratings On Alexa? Let's Rock And Roll by damilare442(op): 12:52pm On Apr 20, 2018
Nowadays, blogs are just too common in Nigeria to the extent that you get confused why many are opening new blogs when the existing ones are not well utilised.

A common thing about Nigerian bloggers is the fact that almost three-quarter are focused on either entertainment, news or gossips making most blogs boring and unappealing.

Having an active blog with an Alexa ranking of 3m is not a joke.
So to the main cause of this thread is to identify blogs (especially new blogs) with contents that have Alexa rating of 3 million or less.

Back then, during my youth service to this country (I still can't come to terms that I served this country )

Those guys at mammy market, I mean the hair salons and mani- pedicure shops. Due to the small size of their business, they comfortably seal up their makeshift shops with thick dark cloths and curtains then put their wares just at the front of the shop to attend to their customers.

Right inside the the shop was a bed, pillow, standing fan, bucket and whatever you wanted.

You pay per hour to use the place, of course just on that same line you have the barbers shops with their music on - some little noise were helpful. grin

I actually had a room there, I paid for the whole time at camp as I needed to stay away from lectures and drills.

Hence till date I do not have any pictures from camp, i was always indoors. my uniform is still clean as snow. Recall, how I was outstanding at POP everyone else had torn uniforms undecided

BusinessAngola Overtakes Nigeria As Owner Of Most Battered Oil Currency by damilare442(op): 11:22pm On Apr 11, 2018
Oil currencies have been hammered since crude prices crashed almost four years ago, and none more so than Angola’s.

After a series of devaluations that started in January, the OPEC member’s kwanza has now lost 55 percent of its value against the dollar since June 2014, when Brent crude began its slide from a peak of $115 a barrel.

It’s overtaken Nigeria’s naira as the worst-performing major oil currency in that period, excluding crisis-ridden Venezuela’s bolivar.

Russia’s currency is not far behind. The ruble, floated in late 2014 after the central bank gave up trying to defend it, recovered in 2016 and 2017 along with oil prices. But the U.S.’s new sanctions against Russian oligarchs and listed companies last week hit the nation’s assets hard. The ruble is down 9 percent versus the greenback this week, extending its loss since mid-2014 to 47 percent.

Christianity EtcOur VAL-IN-TIME What’s In The Air, What Does The Church Say? by damilare442(op): 12:37pm On Feb 14, 2018
The 2018 Valentine’s Day coincides with Ash Wednesday, and there is some panic in that sense. Many see that as a clash, not sure how correct that is. On its own, Valentine’s Day evokes a feeling of amusement, merrymaking and revelry. Ash Wednesday, on the other hand, elicits austerity, introspection and reflection.

It introduces the forty days of prayer, fasting and abstinence to commemorate Christ’s suffering and death. Different dioceses and churches have put out some directives to the faithful regarding the primacy of Lent over Valentine’s Day. For instance, the Archdiocese of Baltimore in the United States reminds the faithful that despite Ash Wednesday coinciding with Valentine’s Day, Ash Wednesday will be observed as a day of fasting and abstinence. Wow! The big questions: is the Church canceling this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration or should it be postponed? Do lovers not have to exchange gifts on that day as usual? The susurrations are many. Some say Christ has hijacked the day as though it’s different from other days. Others insinuate that the church wants to strip the day of its mundane connotation. What exactly is happening?

What connects Valentine’s Day with Ash Wednesday?
From a religious perspective, Valentine’s Day seems to be flagrantly mis-celebrated. But in a sense, it can also be said to be a celebration that bridges the gap between young people in the world and the church because it is all about love notwithstanding how it is interpreted. Saint Valentine died for love; martyred under the emperor Claudius 11 because he embodied Jesus. He embedded Christ’s love thus, “This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this: to lay one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:12-13). According to sources, Saint Valentine was either a priest of Rome or the former Bishop of Terni, Narnia and Amelia, a town of Umbria, in central Italy. Valentine used the opportunity of his imprisonment to spread the good news about Jesus. He converted the judge prompting him and his family, his forty-four-member household (family members and servants) to get baptized.

On the other hand, Lent is celebrated the world over. In the Church, it is a special forty-days period marked by prayers, fasting and almsgiving. This practice follows from Christ’s forty days’ fasting in the desert immediately after his baptism. He “was led into the desert to be put to the test by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty nights” (Matt. 4:1). Fasting is about mortification of our bodies, abstinence from the things we naturally crave for. Prayer is a channel to stay connected with God, a weapon against temptations from the devil. Almsgiving expresses our faith in God, who “loved the world and gave his only Son…” (John 3:16). Through almsgiving, we are able to extend God’s love beyond our comfort zone. In Lent, believers are invited to give up pleasurable goods for the sake of those in need. The United States Bishops Conference remarks, “We are called not just to abstain from sin during Lent, but to true conversion of our hearts and minds as followers of Christ”.

So, what connects Valentine’s Day with Lent? The first thing that comes to mind is love. Valentine’s Day is Lover’s Day, that’s obvious. It originates from the idea that Saint Valentine was imprisoned for love; performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. Prior to his death, Valentine was said to have written a letter to the judge’s daughter whom he healed and which he signed, “Your Valentine”. This seemed to be the spark for what is known today as “Lovers Day”.

How does Love override?
Love originates from God. In his love, he invites us to love one another. Valentine’s Day becomes that great opportunity to love. Love is the elevation of the human being to that divine resemblance injected at creation. That’s what Saint Valentine sacrificed his life for. He believed in God’s love and dignified it through the sacrament of marriage. He understood the futility of the flesh without God’s love. He realized that mortality is symbolized by the ash (Ash Wednesday) and transformed into immortality in Christ who is our eternal Val. In Saint Valentine, agape and filial love overcame eros or erotic love much orchestrated by mis-celebrated lover’s day. Love is not a commercial venture. It is not just about watching movies together. It is not just about giving flower to one’s love. It is a commitment, a sincere gesture. Love is a relationship.

Secondly, Valentine’s Day seems to remind us of the oneness of humanity despite faith affiliation. For instance, Saint Valentine is commemorated in the Anglican community, as well as in Lutheranism on February 14. The Lutheran Service Book commemorates Valentine on this date. The Eastern Orthodox Church also allows their members named Valentino (male) or Valentina (female) to observe their name day on February 14 following the Western calendar. And universally, it is celebrated as Lover’s Day.

Therefore, if Lent celebrates Christ’s sacrificial love, then love becomes a gift for us and for one another. Lent draws our attention to God’s love made visible in Christ. Lent focuses our attention on the need to sacrifice for one another. It invites us to authentic love as demonstrated by Saint Valentine, who guided the Roman soldiers to the true meaning of love. Lent tells us that we are all lovers for God’s sake as Pope Francis puts it, “…a favorable season for opening the doors to all those in need and recognizing in them the face of Christ.”

There is really no clash between Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday because Christ is our capital “VAL-IN-TIME”. Christ is the “Beginning, the first-born from the dead”, …and through whom God reconciles all things to himself (cf. Col. 1:18-19). Valentine’s Day represents God’s love whereas Lent makes that love available to God’s creatures.

The great lesson from these apparent co-events is to enlighten us that our life should become a spectrum of Valentine. Sacrificing for those we love should be an ongoing process. Giving up what we value for the sake of love should be a life commitment. Praying for loved ones should be a constant practice. Scripture says, “When the completion of time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born subject of the Law, to redeem the subjects of the Law” (Gal. 4:7). That’s the meaning of Valentine- Christ, our capital and eternal VAL came at the appointed time to save us. Saint Valentine also died for the Roman soldiers because he understood the mandate of Christ, “There is no greater love than this: to lay one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:12-13). So, both Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day celebrate one and same thing- GOD”S LOVE in our midst. Love doesn’t come and go; as Saint Paul says, “Faith, hope and love remain, these three; but the greatest of them is love” (1 Cor. 13:13). That’s Valentine. That’s Ash Wednesday. That’s Lent. That’s our life.

PoliticsRe: 2019: Nigeria Will Regret Having Youth As President — Sagay by damilare442: 9:57am On Feb 13, 2018
divinehand2003:
Hmmmm

Professor Sagay should have rephrased his points. It is true that even if you bring in a younger man or woman to run this country in its current state, that person will be corrupt in no distance time. There are so many reasons why this is so.

Firstly the present 1999 constitution which has undergone numerous amendments by the NASS largely favours corruption of our leaders. It is fashioned in the direction of dictatorship than democratic system of government.

Second, the weak nature of all our institutions which are meant to be truly independent and free of any external influences also open the door to corruption of our leaders. As long as the president has the power to interfere with the processes of these agencies, ministries and parastatals, they become his personal property while in office. How won't Mr President become corrupted whether old or young?

Lastly, Nigeria is bitterly diversified along ethnic, tribal, religious and political lines. Our country is also deeply dis-united to a large extent. Every move by the president of the day brings about mutual suspicion and negative reactions. These are also good for corruption to easily behold a president no matter his good intentions.

The solution to our leadership woes lies in true federalism, reorientation, rebirth, restructuring and reorganization. The various federating units in Nigeria have to find a way to come together to discuss, argue and come to a reasoned conclusion of how they want to be led. This is the solution for sustainable growth and development with peace and tranquility. That is the way to go at this critical time of our national life.
Reading this gave me the basis to argue that we still have youths who takes their time to study the complex nature of Nigeria politics and still proffer reasonable solutions.

Nairaland GeneralDigprom Launches In Nigeria, Promises To Redefine Content Promotion. by damilare442(op): 1:27am On Feb 11, 2018
Content is king. I'm sure you must have heard that many times. And yes, it is still king. The issue of the distribution of content is what is yet to be decided, and found a way round. Well, we do hope what we (want to) do at Digprom would have even the littlest impact on it.

Digprom, a digital promotion platform which focuses on songs, for now, has launched.

The platform wants to help artistes in the country (and outside) distribute their songs evenly over the internet to their targeted audience. While also giving bloggers the opportunity to earn from the platform.

*Concept.*

The concept of the platform allows the artistes to upload their songs, which would in turn be distributed to different bloggers based on chosen plan coupled with their audience specifications. Songs uploaded would be assigned according to the niche of the bloggers, location and the type of songs, making sure they tally. The bloggers earn through the number of streams or downloads the assigned contents gets from their blog.

The company currently pays 5 Naira stream or download. The money accumulates and can be monitored directly from the bloggers dashboard.
Earnings are paid directly to the local bank accounts supplied during registration.

Artist also gets to monitor their songs performance directly from their dashboard. Each download or stream is recorded as well as the direct URL of the blogs where their song sits.
This concept allows artists gets value for every kobo spent on promotion as well as it ensures bloggers do the needful in ensuring the songs get effectively promoted to their audience.

This is just the beginning, which is why there is only a focus on songs. In times to come, full fledged contents would be delved into. As content would keep remaining the king and what keeps people online.

We believe that, "Digprom will revolutionalize content distribution in Nigeria by pitching contents from contents creators to their desired audience."

Numerous artists and bloggers are already making use of the platform since it launched in Jan. 2018. Artists can sign up via digprom.com/artist/register.php

Bloggers can register their blog via digprom.com/blogger/register.php

Do checkout digprom.com, tell us your views, and let us be better.
