EducationKWASU VC Conveys Virtual Senate Meeting, Appoints New Dvcs by damilare442(op): 1:38pm On May 28, 2020
The Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete on Thursday set the pace for other Nigerian Universities as the Institution, under the leadership of Professor Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi SAN, conveyed a virtual Senate meeting.

The meeting which is the Vice-Chancellor's maiden Senate meeting since his emergence as the second substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University, gave all Senate members the opportunity to participate via video conferencing.

Presiding over this virtual meeting, the Vice-Chancellor said the rationale behind the video conferencing was to comply with the Federal Government's social distancing policy and at the same time keep the University administration running.

He said the University keys into all measures to mitigate the spread the current Covid-19 pandemic and as such was poised to prioritise virtual learning in the business of dispensing quality education to her students.

Topmost on the agenda of the meeting was the appointment of two new Deputy Vice Chancellors and two internal members of the University Council; Professor Omololu Oladele Fapojuwo of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences was appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration while Professor Sheikh Lukman of the Faculty of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences was appointed the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic.

Professor Abiodun Amuda Kannike of the Faculty of Law and Professor Emmanuel Ajani of Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences emerged as the internal members of the University Council.

While unveiling his programmes for the next five years, Professor Akanbi stressed that his agenda has been carefully designed to make KWASU a worldclass Institution.

He noted that the changing of the University's Collegiate system to Faculty system was to reflect what most academic staff were trained for.

Professor Akanbi also added that there are plans to introduce more innovative courses and programmes that will make graduates of KWASU total students and job creators rather job seekers.

According to him, students, irrespective of the course applied for, will now be advised to register for any language of their choice from Arabic, French or Mandarin and will be given certificate and transcript after their graduation in order for them to be self-reliant and have the opportunity to work within and outside the country after their graduation.

The Vice-Chancellor explained that all students would also register for any vocational skill of their choice along side their primary courses while all General Studies (GNS) courses will henceforth go online.

Other large classes will equally be online to afford students equal opportunity in terms of accessibility to lecture.

While thanking his predecessors, Professor AbdulRasheed Na'Allah and Professor Sakah Mahmud for laying solid foundation in KWASU, Professor Akanbi mentioned several other short term and long term planns and innovations to enable KWASU compete favourably with other leading Universities across the country and beyond.

Professor Akanbi also thanked members of the Senate for their support, cooperation and sense of understanding which facilitated the seamless and rancour free virtual Senate meeting.

Science/TechnologyWhat Is A Browser Cache And How Does It Work? by damilare442(op): 10:38am On May 16, 2020
So you've just finished redesigning your website. You're excited, it looks great, and you're patting yourself on the back. Before you start parading around this new great design like a kid showing off their new toy, you want to give it a whirl and see how it all looks from a visitor’s perspective.
And there lies your first problem: For some reason, you can’t comprehend, your web browser is still showing the previous version of your site. What the heck's going on here?

This is when your browser cache comes into play.

We've all heard this term before... but do we really know what it is? I’m willing to bet the majority of us have thought about our browser cache as some magical place that we have to go to and clear every so often so our site and others render as they should.

Show of hands? Yep — that's what I thought.

Below, you'll find a simple description detailing the ins and outs of browser cache that should clear up any misconceptions or questions about it you may have.

The Basics of Browser Cache

A web browser — such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer — is a software application that we use to fetch and see information living on the internet. In other words, a browser looks, finds, and presents to us websites and/or other pieces of information we look for via URLs.

A browser’s cache is its appliance or instrument through which it saves data, such as images and HTML, needed to see a website. The intent behind saving such data is to help with bandwidth.

So, the next time you go back to see a page, it takes less time to load as a cached version of the page has already been saved. In other words, because you have a cached version of a page, your browser will not need to send a new request to see that page.

How Browser Cache Relates to Cookies
Some of you may be wondering, "How does all these impact tracking cookies?" Let me explain.

Browser cache saves data like images and HTML, which are needed to see websites, right? Well, cookies are smaller pieces of data, such as names and email addresses, a website saves to your computer. This comes in handy because this is how a website knows who you are next time you visit.

Ever wondered how a website greets you by name? Yup, that's cookies. A website picks up on the cookie it previously placed on your computer — therefore, it recognizes you.

The important thing to know is how a browser cache and cookies together can affect your work as it pertains to updating pages on your site, testing forms, and appropriately rendering pages. This is an easy variable to understand and usually one of the first ones to troubleshoot, as it can — in the vast majority of instances — resolve the issue(s) you're experiencing with your site.

How to Clear Browser Cache

In order to eliminate browser cache as the culprit, you’ll need to clear it. The steps for clearing your browser cache will depend on the device and browser you're using. Different browsers have different interfaces for accessing these settings.

Here are the steps for the most common desktop browsers:

Chrome

1.Open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click the three vertical dots.
3. Click More Tools.
4. Select Clear browsing data.
5. Choose your time range for deletion.
6. Check the boxes next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files."
7. Click Clear data.

Safari

1. Open Safari.
2. Choose the Safari menu in the top left.
3. Select Preferences.
4. In the pop-up menu, click the Advanced tab.
5. At the bottom of the window, check the box "Show Develop menu in menu bar."
This will add a Develop menu to your bar.
6. Click that.
7. Select Empty Caches.
8. You can also delete your browsing history by selecting the History tab.
9. Click Clear History.
10. Choose your time frame and select Clear History.

As you might agree, a good digital marketer should be active and well-informed, and also have basic knowledge on some of these topics, including HTML and CSS. This can go a long way with impressing your colleagues or with a simple breakthrough in one of your projects.

Business5 Ways To Market Your Brand During COVID-19 by damilare442(op): 11:47am On Apr 27, 2020
It is possible you might be running out of ideas on how to engage and market your brand to customers online at a time like this, it’s understandable. Keeping up with clients (audience) in this period could be demanding.

It is logical enough to know customers (persona) will be more active on the internet like never before in this social distancing, stay at home /work from home period.

Believe me, this is the best time to engage more with your audience and create a good impression, long-lasting reputation, and also to position your brand well for sales (market your brand well).

Here are 5 ways to market your brand during COVID-19
1. Interview your customers: As mentioned before, the best time to position your brand for sales and make good and long-lasting impressing is now, customers now have the luxury of time to do whatever (logical) thing you asked them to do, why not seize this opportunity to ask help from your loyal customers to make videos not more than one minute to share their experience with your brand and offer incentives in return.

Doing this you are opening doors for new clients at the same time you are connecting and engaging with old clients example, let them Start with their name, where they reside, how they have benefited from your brand, etc. you can embed this interview (video) on your website, social media, and your email marketing.

2. Create Indirect Sales Pitch that adopts Open-ended questions: This is an easy and fun way to engage your fans (customers) and market your product and services especially in this stay at home period where everyone needs something to keep them alive and active. Ask questions relevant to your brand or products. For, if you can create a post and compare two different dresses and ask which ‘would you rather wear at a date this question’ this question allows you to incorporate your product into question (market your product) and also help you engage with your customers in a fun and helpful way without appearing sales. This is because, at a time like this, people are unlikely to pay much attention to blunt marketing messages except if you are marketing consumable items.

3. Make use of infographics and graphics that can be related to easily; A well-designed infographics help you convey your complex information and make it easy to digest. A show-stopping infographic would boost your credibility and help position your brand well for sales since marketing aims to make sales.

4 Make to use Animations: Research has revealed that people engage more with animated content better than most other content. A good animated video can grab the attention of your target audience since it entertains, it will increase engagement which can then translate into sales.
There’s never been a better time to use animated video to get closer to your customers, generate leads than this period of social distancing.

You can embed them on your website, share them on social media, and include them in your email marketing.

Importance of animated video:

i. It helps you stand out from your competitor
ii to Increase your conversion rate
iii. Bring your ideas to life
iv. Help clients to understand your product
v. Improve your SEO

Example of an animated video maker for business use includes Animatron, Moovly, PowToon, GoAnimate, To only , etc.

5. Leverage on local SEO: If there is no total knockdown in your country or state yet, this is the best time to optimize your website for near me searches, doing this, customers in your geographical region will be able to easily find you and turn to you first. People are now home, they are looking for convenient means to order for products and services without having to step out of their house.

This gives your business a better chance, making sales, and also to be of help during a critical time of COVID-19. One of the best ways to boost your local SEO is to make use of Google my business (GMB) if you don’t have one already.

With this, nearby customers can reach you and if you have a strategic and effective delivery system, you are likely to win big!

Remember to stay safe during this period.

Nairaland GeneralThe Truth About Ejigbo Returnees - Osun Govt by damilare442(op): 12:25pm On Apr 04, 2020
Our attention has been drawn to a story purporting that six persons were missing from our Isolation centre in Ejigbo.

One of the writers quoted a non-existent statement from the government to lend some measure of credibility to the story.

Nothing can be further from the truth. As a government, we have not issued any statement to confirm or deny such story. Besides, a quick check showed that the name and number of the first person on the list of the purported missing patients, is indeed currently in our facility in Ejigbo.

Recall that  about a week ago,  we received 127 returnees from Ivory Coast and we have kept them since then to avoid community transfer of the virus.

This morning we embarked on a headcount and found out that only one person could not be accounted for by officials stationed at the Isolation centre out of the 127 persons.

The State Government is currently investigating the matter and will ensure that the missing person is brought back to the Isolation centre and we will also ensure we trace all his contacts.

We want to reiterate that any official(s) found culpable will also be dealt with accordingly.

We implore members of the public to discountenance the alarm being raised. We will continue to do everything to protect the lives of our citizens in this fight against Coronavirus.

Mrs. Funke Egbemode

SinisterX:
Coronavirus: A Facebook User’s Experience Of Getting Tested In Abuja

ATTENTION: PRESIDENCY & FED. MINISTRY OF HEALTH

To tell you the truth, NCDC can't do anything for you because they are not ready.
All this PR they are doing they are assuming people will not try that's why.
On Wednesday (25/03/2020) I and a colleague of mine decided we want to be sure of our status before going into #selfisolation.

So we went through the following steps

1. We called the toll free line and after all the normal recorded stories, when we chose to speak to an agent they end the call.

2. We went to University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, they told us they don't do testing there, that the hospital is only an isolation center. They refer us back to NCDC office in town, told us that's where testing lab is.

3. We drove to NCDC office at Jabi. There are two NCDC offices there in close proximity. The first office told us they don't do testing but they directed us to the second office saying that's where testing is handled.

4. The second office too absolved themselves of that responsibility and directed us to NCDC National Reference Laboratory, Gaduwa.

5. We visited the NCDC NRL. On getting there, the security at the gate informed us that a lot of people were there too earlier in the day and were turned away. That they don't do testing for individuals unless your state took your sample and submit to them.

6.They refer us to a circular posted at the gate and told us to contact the FCT Epidemiology team lead on COVID-19.

7. When I called him I introduced myself by name and then asked him if he's the FCT team lead on this issue. He answered yes. I then asked him how do I go about getting tested. He asked who are you? Who gave you my number? I told him I'm an Abuja resident and his number is on a circular at the NCDC office. He told us he doesn't know. He said we should go to NCDC. I told him but they referred us to you. He was silent. I then asked him to advise us. He told us to go to "National Health Disease Control" which doesn't exist.

I will send a copy of the circular to this forum.

Obviously they are doing selective testing which is dangerous.

It means a lot of people might have been infected already but for lack of testing they are moving about infecting others.

While the information from the official channels are saying people are not coming forth, the truth is that people are going but are been turned away.

And I know because I was turned away first hand.

It also tells you that either the NCDC are lying to us or they are not coordinated at all. How will you explain three branches of the office each denying responsibility and pointing us to the next instead of just explaining to us the laid down procedures by the NCDC

https://m.facebook.com/673827759324224/posts/3897292313644403/
A friend also experienced this today In Kwara. He has been showing symptoms of Covid19 since Wednesday. She called the Covid19 response number and was told to isolate himself and that help will reach him soon. That soon eventually happened after the person called someone that knows someone who now eventually sent one of their field officials to visit her house for testing.

Insincerity and lacklustreness is a huge problem in Nigeria.

sad As a born again Christian who is meant to speak the truth at all times, i think this amoketun issue is being hypocritically blown out of proportion to expand hatred for other tribes especially the Fulanis. Why must we Christians be the brain behind the vast support for Amotekun when the Nigerian constitution is clear about the roles of the armed forces and police in the security of the country? Why must we form an ethnic militia to target fellow Nigerians when the constitution guarantees freedom of movement and doing business nationwide as long as we are Nigerians? What we fail to realize is that the south east cheering on Amotekun sees its as a synonym for their biafra agitations and they will rather support anything that will disband the relative peace and unity of Nigeria. The IPOB sympathizers will be the one to cry wolf when Amotekun starts targeting their tribesmen who commits various crimes in the south west. MURIC recently condemned the killing of a CAN pastor and sympathized with we Christians, how many Christians will condemn the killing of an imam or Muslims? Instead we rejoice when tragedy strikes them forgetting we are all humans before religion. Instead of emulating our Muslim brothers who have remained silent on this issue of Amotekun, we Christians are disturbing the cyberspace with hypocritical comments. Amotekun will never see the light of the day as long as we remain one Nigeria. It's a bad policy and a tribalistic security outfit aimed at persecuting other Nigerians. The Kwara State government announced that it will demolish the popular family house of the Sarakis last month. The decision generated heated controversies between the followers of Sen. Bukola  Saraki and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The decision was reached after a panel by the Kwara State government recommended that the house be demolished because it was acquired illegally. The demolition was done over the night and the once celebrated house popularly known as "Ile Arugbo" now lies in ruins . The land will now be used for the construction of a secretariat by the government.

Many aged women staged multiple protests and kept vigil at the house before it was demolished over night.

The state government plans to build a secretariat on the land in 2020.

Nairaland GeneralWizkid On Plastic Chair: Africa's First Lecturer Hip-hop Artist Breaks Silence by damilare442(op): 7:07pm On Dec 27, 2019
Nigerians and the music world at large, has spent a significant portion of the past couple of days grappling with the implications of “Wizkid" coming to Ilorin, capital of Kwara State.”

The Sensational Singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, had on Wednesday (Christmas night) arrived in the capital city of Kwara state, Ilorin, Kwara hotel.

But immediately  after his exquisite performance, some news emerged about the young artiste being maltreated and disrespected by citizens of Kwara, after a footage of the handsome young artiste sitting on a plastic chair at the beginning of the concert went viral.

However this is not true! As a researcher, entertainer and public person,  I got to the concert venue quite early. However, in order for me to watch the unfolding of events and have an accurate report, I became a participant observer as always.

Before the arrival of Wizkid, who has been one of the world’s brightest and most influential pop stars in his own right, everywhere was jammed and over- crowded. For anyone to move between the huge crowd, it is like one trying to dribble across a line of four super defenders.

Wizkid finally decided to walk through the backstage. Unlike most of his contemporaries in a comparable stratum, He attracted little attention because he dressed in a very simple and unique style. As at the time he arrived, the time wasn't ripe for him to mount the stage the veteran musician decided to sit on a white plastic chair.

It is important to note that, the chair upon which he sat was among the triads of seats, myself, Alhaji Mashal, and Ahaji Abefe had earlier sat on when we arrived. Therefore, the media's quest and some people's desire to make an unnecessary fictional scene about it is unethical and improper.

Everyday, the media exaggerates negative news, and I'm afraid this distortions have consequences. News is about things that happen, not things that didn't happen. I did not see a journalist saying to the camera, “I’m reporting live from ilorin where Wizkid is currently being mobbed, disrespected or humiliated."

Indubitably, Ilorin people are cultured and well mannered. We are respectful and our society is filled with highly sagacious intellectuals. No culture or tribe is totally perfect or knows it all
though, however, I hate it when people look down on us. Those who are knowledgeable know we manufacture knnowledge here. Many people came from diffrent states to tap here also. You can check your Google and see many things that have happend here. The fact that we don't make noise doesn't mean we represent those uncultured and uneducative adjectives flying arround on social media.

As much as I love constructive criticism and appreciate people's suggestions, often times, the biggest problems I do have is the manner, style and tone of criticism.

For instance, I was astounded to see some blindfolded comment stagging Ilorin as a city of local people living in a state of dilemma. Some even professed that nothing good existhere. This is highly derogatory and myopic.

Ilorin is the home to the famous University of Ilorin, the city has welcomed both international and local students for decades and it is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to study in Nigeria.

Ilorin is one of the safest places to live in Nigeria, very friendly and peaceful. This has been the reason why some strangers could choose to stay on and start a family here or even convince thier family to move here along with you.

The essential part, the public and fans of Wizkid should take cognizance of, is the singer's virtue of patience and humility.

A king who sits among his people desires total closeness, freedom and much love from his people. The first test of a truly great man is his humility. Wizkid was not offered a plastic chair by the organisers.  He simply saw the chair when he arrived at the back stage waiting for his official call to perform. Wizkid was at the concert not to sit, he came solely to perform and thrill his fans. Even if he sat on a plastic chair, is a plastic chair not a chair?

For Wizkid to have sat on that chair without hesitation, considering his legendary status, simply depicts his Noble character. Truth be told, I'm a true son of the soil, and here in Kwara state, respect for ourselves guides our morals, and respect for others guides our manners.

Nairaland GeneralRevealed: Minister Behind Protest Against DG NBC In Abuja by damilare442(op): 12:49pm On Dec 22, 2019
Goes petty as he engages drunkard to revolt against Kawu

Induced underage boys with N1,000 Naira each

The minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has been fingered as one of those who allegedly sponsored a protest against the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mallam Modibbo Kawu.

On Friday, a man who identified himself as Yunusa Rikoto; a level 14 officer of the NBC led about six underage boys to the visibly sponsored protest.

In a video made available to this medium, the lack of composure and coherence of the lead protester is something disturbing to sane minds.

The obviously sponsored protest might have been the height of frustrations by Kawu's traducers who appeared flustered by their inability to remove Kawu.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9_P_UyNn2M

In a viral video taken from the protest, Yunusa Rikoto who is the Chief Monitoring Officer, in the Directorate of Monitoring of the NBC was seen granting Interview to an unseen Interviewer, young boys are seen bearing placards with the following Bold inscriptions:

“NBC under Kawu is a sinking Ship”

“Modibbo Kawu, where is 2.5 DSO Money?”

“Modibbo Kawu must go!!!”

“NBC has lost respect under Kawu among media houses”.

Rikoto when answering a question from the anonymous  interviewer said:

"Nobody is talking about how it is paid. I implore all investigating agencies to come to NBC to investigate all the monies that Kawu have squandered."

"Anybody who knows NBC, I am Yunusa Nari Rikoto, Staff of the National Broadcasting Commission. The chief Monitoring Officer for that matter, Level 14.  If I can come out to protest against the maladministration of my organization, that has touched my heart. Look at me, I am more than 40 years, I fear nothing. I know with this, he will victimize me but I don’t care. Let Justice be done. That is all what we are asking for." he continued.

When further asked by the Interviewer whether he knows the corruption case he is currently in court,

Rikoto responded; "I am very very much aware. The case is lingering because the man is using one political personality or the other to squash the case. Big politicians and his cabals in the Villa who are shielding him from"

The placard bearers were chanting in the background….Kawu is a thief! Kawu is a thief! He must go! He must go!.

Those who want Kawu out of the NBC have been making frantic efforts to instigate things against him by sponsoring a protest since he brought the different reforms that the commission is now enjoying on board.

The court case and documentary shown on TVC which exposed the conspiracies of the duo of Lai Mohammed and Vice president Yemi Osinbajo. The documentary gave a boost to the activities of NBC led Kawu on the digital switchover (DSO) project.

Realised that they cannot achieve their agenda through court (as most of the allegations are frivolous), the traducers have resorted to instigation of staff of the commission to lead a lone protest against the head of the commission.

If you look at the protesters, they were covering their faces. The only staff of NBC, Yinusa Rikoto, who addressed the rented crowd is a well known boy of Armstrong Idachaba who was recently transferred to the directorate of Broadcast policy and Research.

Idachaba has been promised the position of DG by the information minister, Lai Mohammed. Rikito is therefore only doing Idachaba's bid. There are others behind this protest too. It is instructive to note that many people who got the videos of the protest said they got it from Godfrey Ohuabuwa. He even wanted to put it on the BON website but was turned down. "

The source further said Mr Ohuabuwa, former acting chairman of BON, and a close friend of ex DG of NBC takes the issues personal. Under Emeka Mba, Ohuabuwa allegedly made billions of naira in manufacturing set boxes contracts. The source said Ohuabuwa sees Kawu as a personal enemy since the new DG had greatly cut off the shady deals hitherto enjoyed by the Mba crew.

Also fingered are Lai Mohammed's SAs: William Adeleye and Segun Adeyemi. The source said the duo are coordinating all sorts of attacks from the ministry of information to force Kawu out.

You will recall that Lai Mohammed has continuously failed to appear in court as a prosecuting witness in the ongoing sensational trial of the NBC in a suit brought against it by the ICPC.

At the said protest, Rikoto expressed worries that the court case was taking too long and Kawu may be enjoying some protection by, in his words, a "cabal".

Further findings revealed that Kawu always give priority to staff welfare in the commission, in fact the 13th month salary was just paid to the staff.

As usual Nigerians will be quick to criticize. Most of the critics are losers with no reasonable achievements to their existence.

PoliticsRe: Do Our Political Parties Have Ideologies? by damilare442: 7:55pm On Dec 03, 2019
Yes they do. They have different ideologies on how they loot and share money.

APC introduced technical looting while PDP is known to be openly corrupt.

PDP share money and boast of chop I chop while APC gives you the opportunity to take and share within.

Now you know some of the ideologies, you can choose the one you wanna join.

Taink you.
