Johnnyessence:You need not just conclude. If u are in the know about Kwara politics, you will confirm the news. Kwaragist broke the news and it has been generating reactions on various kwara based platforms. |
The political turbulence being witnessed in Kwara by the two leading political parties, PDP and APC took a new twist over the weekend as PDP faction of Barrister Akogun Oyedepo lay claim of the party structure in the state, saying they were never dissolved, suspended nor expelled for any anti-party activities. The Kwara PDP faction led by Akogun Oyedepo affirm their loyalty and commitment of the party towards victory come 2019 and has since released names for major elective positions in the state. The faction is fielding Rukayat Romoke Sheu as the candidate for the Kwara Central Senatorial district and Ramatu Bola Malik as the candidate for the governorship position. Razaq Atunwa is the Saraki led PDP faction's governorship candidate. You will recall that an Ilorin based High court last Thursday declared the Balogun Fulani faction of the APC as the legally recognized faction in the state based on similar reasons cited by the Barrister Akogun Oyedepo led PDP faction. The judgement of the Ilorin High Court last Thursday has been faulted by the national working committee which installed the Bashir Bolarinwa Faction. The National working committee of the APC presented Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as the governorship candidate of the party to INEC. The Balogun Fulani faction governorship candidate is Kayode Omotoshe. The Barrister Akogun Oyedepo led PDP have also initiated a court process against the legality of Saraki's led PDP executive in the state and seek that the court should compel INEC to stick with list submitted by only Akogun led executive which remains the only legally constituted executive. The next few days no doubt would be days of courtesy and perpetual visit for the two main political parties in Kwara state as the 2019 general election count down begins. https://www.instagram.com/p/BruZMaCBrSr/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=tyd0v0wnbpfv

It has become necessary to draw attention to avoidable deaths of personnel in FAAN in general and Aviation Security in particular arising from two fundamental factors such as STRESS related overwork and Medical Inadequacy. As we lost yet another officer of impeccable character and hard work, Comrade Usman Mohammed who slumped and died without adequate medical attention as there were NO medical facilities available, urgent attention is hereby demanded and required to starve off further death of staff. Worthy of mention is the fact that Aviation Security staff in particular are being made to work MORE than the required hours (8hours per day) without rest periods or compensation. It is said that some of them work for TWELVE HOURS at a stretch without break, simply because the Directorate of Aviation Security, which operates under Section 17 of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) conventions is suffering from dearth of adequate manpower yet we have thousands of Nigerians roaming the street in search of employment. Notwithstanding the fact that FAAN employees personnel every now and then, these employments are not on need basis as expected but on political expediency. In the last nine months or so, FAAN has lost more than 12 staff whose untimely death could have been averted if things had been done properly. Correct and adequate manpower supply on one hand and effective, adequate and functional medical facilities/attention. It is reported that the Medical Centres do not have the necessary tools ( drugs and infrastructure) to cater to anyone on emergency even though the Clinics parade highly trained professionals. Something must be done and done quickly to remedy this unacceptable situation. |

Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mallam Ishaq Modibbo Kawu has described the statement of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on investigations into N2.5 billion said to have been paid to Pinnacle Communications Limited, licensed private signal distributor in the Digital Switch Over (DSO) project as inaccurate and misleading. Answering questions from newsmen in his office in Abuja on the ICPC statement alleging “misapplication” of the funds meant for DSO by NBC, the DG observed that the ICPC did not have the correct identity of the NBC which it referred to as the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation and also wrongly described the DSO as dealing with the migration of telephone lines whereas it actually had to do with switch over of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) signals from analogue to digital, adding that the statement could not have been based on genuine investigation by the ICPC. The Director General emphasized that contrary to the impression conveyed in the ICPC statement, Pinnacle Communications Limited was not only duly licensed as the private signal distributor for the DSO in accordance with section 11. 2 (a) and (b) of the Federal Government White Paper on implementation of the DSO after a transparent bidding process and payment of 685 million naira since 2014 but was currently the “largest single contributor to the successful roll out of the DSO in the country”. He said the company withdrew its court case which stalled the DSO since 2014 until the inception of the Buhari Administration when it voluntarily agreed to support the new administration’s determination to correct the infractions on its license under the previous administration and give the new NBC Director General a chance to achieve successful DSO by withdrawing its suit and later facilitated the National Launch of the DSO in December 2016 from its Mpape Hill Broadcast Centre in Abuja and the launch in Kaduna in December 2017 from its Kaduna Broadcast Centre, both of which had remained on air uninterrupted till date. Malam Modibbo Kawu stated that Pinnacle was not paid “seed grant” as claimed by the ICPC but for services duly rendered in accordance with the White Paper on DSO adding that all companies involved in the DSO implementation such as ITS/NTA public licensed signal distributor, set top box manufacturers, content aggregators, satellite provider, call center as well staff training received similar payment under supervision and approval of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.

This poem is an African story of those with tribal marks and a man who finds beauty behind those marks. Inspired by @adetutuo.j. . ÀDÙKẸ́ ONÍDÌRÍ I love it when you laugh and smile, At the same time, in my delight I get sad. Because I wish I could be the only man while other men are animals Àdùkẹ́, you're so beautiful with those marks. Don't be bothered about the city girls, you got tribal marks not devil marks. When you laugh I see a rihanna, When you now decide to keep it low I see a Michele Obama. Àdùkẹ́ Onídìrí, follow me to the city, I'll open a fashion hub for you at the riverside of lekki. Ẹni bíi ọkàn mi, please help patch my broken ribs. Àdùkẹ́ èmi ọwọn When we've a daughter, we'll name her Arẹ̀wà èkó (Lagos) With your hands on her hair, beautifulness will be a course in the university. Àdùkẹ́, dùkẹ́, Shake those beads on your waist for me and let's dance to Àpàlà like sányẹ̀rì ọ̀kọlà. Poet Olajire Damilola Muyideen (SmilingPen) Instagram | @smiling_pen Copyright Owner Olajire Damilola Muyideen I hope you enjoy the read and help share till it gets to the one inspires this piece.. @adetutuo.j

This news is not only malicious but unwarranted. The reporter failed to do proper investigation before rushing to file the report. I am very close to the NBC and I've been an ardent follower of their activities since the roll out of the Free TV. This same news was published by the same medium in 2017. This time its even poorly crafted. There is nothing like Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation. Its National Broadcasting Commission. The alleged fraud is the issue between one of the two companies handling the DSO project and the Former DG. |
When I recently met Adekeye Oluwayomi Funsho, one of the leading house of Reps aspirants in the 2019 Oyun/Ifelodun/Offa federal constituency, I had lots of questions on my mind. I first read about him in an electronic bulletin early this year where he discussed on strategies youths can leverage on to better position them for leadership roles in Nigeria. Oluwayomi hails fron Ifelodun Local government in Kwara State. He attended Agunjin District High School, also in Kwara State. He proceeded to obtain his OND from Gboko state polytechnic in Benue state. He is one of of the most vibrant youth politicians in North central Nigeria with track records in community service and youth advocacy. He contested in 2003 for councilor in Ilorin under the APGA political party. He was the convener of One Adult, One Youth in Kwara state. I was stunned by his achievements in the areas of leadership and community service especially in the areas of advocacies and youth awakening. Our discussion led me to ask him about how he intends to win in the keenly contested election coming up in 2019 especially with the fact that he is contesting under a less popular party (UPN) in Kwara state. He carefully explained how his team and party are exploiting the 'loopholes' other parties are not seeing to better project their manifestoes and plans for the people of his constituency. He further reiterated his plans which is centered on giving more opportunities to the youths through creative empowerment and employment. Amb. Adekeye Oluwayomi was recently honored as an 'Indigenous African Ambassador' by the Indigenous African Ambassador group (a cultural and leadership inclusive African group with robust network in Africa). He believes his records of service yo his community will give him more opportunities at the polls. https://kaybaba.com.ng/nigerian-youths-can-utilise-their-strength-and-population-to-effect-changes-in-public-service/

Governance is more of experience and having the balls to make decisions and basic education. Although being brilliant and educated can be an added can be an added advantage but People like FFK are perfect examples of 'brilliant' people with less ideologies or outputs. |
qwertygeni:You are funny.. Who does business and invest such huge amounts of money on a platform without plans of monetization? I'm sure if WhatsApp had been own by a Nigerian or African, he or she would have monetized it right from the beginning. Zuckerberg tried by waiting till this time. |

The same thing GEJ did few months before election that backfired. If they had been serious about her rescue all these while, the young lady would have not only been released but also forgotten her ordeal with the Islamic monsters. |
Ever since a guy who happens to be the former students union president in my school started supporting Fela, I knew the integrity and charade they are trying to push is fake. The truth is now being revealed. Nigeria and Nigerians are too complicated to be governed by a motivational speaker. Fela is good motivating Felas and not even fit for a House of assembly rep. Now we know .... |
We know where he was and the role he played during the celebrations. Kwara PDP Selections is a big event he can't afford to miss. So whatever celebration in Abuja matters less. Saraki is the greatest scammer in Nigeria's 58 yr history. It is always about him and his interest. |
