chyke7000:1.I was sure till the end of last year that University of Portharcourt certificates is not been evaluated by WES...its always displayed in red whenever you choose Nigeria as a country.Funny enough even though I cant seems to remember,I read someone who said WES evaluated the certificate for him/her....in all fairness,I cant confirm this to you. What I have noticed on their website unlike before is that its no more displayed on their website that they are not doing evaluation for them.I will advice you to send an email to them (contactca@wes.org) before you make an informed decision. 2.I want to believe CES is out of your oprions because as of few minutes ago,its been displayed that they do not do evaluation for Uniport. The options you have is that of ICAS or WES...but WES is subject to confirmation when you send mail to them...while we all know that ICAS will take time. I have a friend who used ICAS to evaluate his Msc certificate,He got the evaluated copy exactly one year from the day he initiated it ![]() Cheers. |
tlamp:I have responded to your PM.......you can easily reach me through the displayed email address. Cheers. |
bunni12:On your travel update, you don't need to inform them. On the Surname issue, from my conclusion,it seems your former surname and new surname are all contained on the generic form... If this is so,no issues regarding it....these are not the type of issues that results in denial of application. I wouldn't mind if you explain better your usage of your new and old surname in your application. I want to be sure you have included a document that showed the change of name from old to new.... Does the documents you used contained the old or new surname? Which of it was used on your birth certificate? For myself,my surname is a shortened form of my surname...but the shortened form of my surname reflected on all my official documents and my birth certificate despite filling parents's name and siblings with my original surname....and there was no issue......so are you in the same scenario?....if yes,you are cool.If no,explain better. Not that the issue is a serious one, just want to be sure of how you used the names in your application so that we can be sure of raising a CSE or not. Don't also forget that, most applicants will be asked to update some forms especially during medicals. Cheers. |
kart042000: kart042000: kart042000: kart042000: kart042000: kart042000:I am of the opinion that you made reference to your spouse around during submission period with regards to Marriage certificate and PCC....I hope my memory is still active .If this is true, you can use her to proof the POF by depositing the cash in her account while she prints the statement in conjunction with yours as a proof of fund. Alternatively,if you run more than one account, you can use two account to electronically pay cash into your POF account. Even if you don't work,it doesn't mean you couldn't have had some cash saved down before you left your previous Job......plus the fact that you can always raise cash from the sale of capital assets like your vehicle or landed propriety.....but these needs to be supported by verifiable evidence. I'm more assured that AVO is concerned about you giving any evidence of salary paid into from your previous company than knowing the source of your accumulated POF. What I'm yet to deduce is if you were actually asked to show POF or just to proof the inflow of your salary from your former company into your account. Summarily, find the few payslips that you can laid your hands on and send it........I'm hoping the request you were asked is just to print a statement of account showing salary inflow from previous company into your account. Cheers. |
Meritl:Congrats on the funding secured.... Meanwhile, its better your program commence before informing them. Once you have a change in address/employment/status,then you can forge ahead in informing them. Cheers |
DoubleBam2X:Congrats buddy ..... Happy for you.... Wish you speedy completion of the remaining processes. Cheers. |
bayulll01:Not sure I really understood your question but as far as I am concerned, you dont need to send anything to the test center. They will contact you about 7 days to the exam date to notify you of the exam venue and where you will do your listening test session. If you are making payment for registration through draft, you may need to contact their office but if not,no need. You may re-phrase your question if it has not been addressed. Cheers. |
bayulll01:Seems IELTS and WES are two different things.... Please ignore the part you are referring to or just say NO. For IELTS,you will receive the hard copy result from british council when the result is out.....no need of sending it to any bodies....just ignore it. For you WES evaluation, you will receive 2 copies of the original ECA when its completed. You will need both details before you can create your profile on Express entry. At the point of submission after ITA in the express entry stream, you will need them too. Summary, you are not meant to send them (IELTS and ECA from WES) to anybody....the originals will be with you. Cheers. |
bayulll01: bayulll01:Though not sure of the link not responding...or maybe it was down when you tried to access it,most immediate dates are filled up for this month and next. princessayinke:No problems. Cheers. |
As many of our colleagues getting set this new week for interview with AVO this new week,we all pray that your preparations will yield positive result and favor of God and Man will rest on you. For those who have been privileged to see their GCMS notes,I am sure you know where you need to focus on your file with reference to why you were invited for the interview. For other that were not able to order GCMS notes due to time constraint, please focus on every detail on the forms and supporting documents you submitted with reference to IMM5669 as advised by solomonwis.Be consistent in every information you will give with relevant supporting documents....remember,nobody knows your profile better than you. This should not be taken as a criminal interrogation of your personalty but a confirmation/explanation of ambiguous statements in your files to AVO. We all wish you the very best and expect positive news after the interview process. All the best. Cheers. |
azeezbaba: solomonwis: azeezbaba:Congrats.... So happy for you that your medical request came without complications. Much of the advice has been given to you already. For the PCC,since you have done it before,if you still have the electronic copy, send it to a trusted friend in Nigeria to help you take it to Alagbon for renewal...for same amount. If your passport has not been renew since then, its straight forward for the renewal. They already have your finger prints so they will just issue another certificate for you.If you have renewed your passport after the last one, make sure you include a photocopy of the new biodata page so that they can make changes to the previous passport number on the PCC.....you may also need to send passport photographs to be used on the renewed PCC. The above processes are what I did for myself barely 7 months ago while outside the country and it worked perfectly so i suggest you do same too......Photocopies of PCC are not permitted to be submitted so please try and get your fingerprint sent as advised or do it my way. I am not also too sure you can do your kid's medical without the international passport document as it seems they need to sight. If the process is not rigid, then you should be able to do it without it but if its a rigid process, you may have to wait until you get your kid's international passport before doing medical for him/her. Wishing you the best. Cheers. |
shopaker:Sorry I've been missing your question but seems solomonwis has shared more light on this for you... Please see the links below for more clarifications on CRS/ITA and possible how to improve it... http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-tool.asp http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/invitations.asp Cheers. |
Phemmie72:It depends...you can do both if you have time on your side.If you do not have time,The highest will be fine since it has been proven that Msc in Nigeria will generally equate to to Canadian Msc(I;m assuming its in Nigeria that you had it....its your call. EE is not dependent on your profession so I guess you are fine since you have documents to cover your current profession. Cheers. |
solarmanng:Your application is permanent resident....not worker. Cheers. |
DoubleBam2X:Congrats... Seems a third approved hospital is in Ikeja now,I've not heard of anybody use it but I want to assume its good for the mere fact that CIC approved it. I'm confident that Qlife in VI and The children practice in Ikoyi are both fine. The one in VI will charge between 20k and 24k for children depending on their age while adults are charged 28k.The children's practice charges 28K flat for all age group but you can walk to them and do it anytime while you may have to book for appointment with Qlife. wish you the best. Cheers. |
LadyGuinivere: LadyGuinivere: LadyGuinivere: wordsmithng: otunbateekay: LadyGuinivere: otunbateekay:Lol. So ul gist me how e be. Do u have your POF?
otunbateekay: Meritl: wordsmithng: otunbateekay: otunbateekay:I see that some of us have been invited for interviews with AVO...seems the week of 20th to 24th April is laden with interviews for most of our colleagues. For most of us who may have premonition about this and ordered gcms notes, you will know the actually place to tackle. If you have not order gcms notes, the odds fall on you to decipher what could be wrong in your application with reference to your work experience and relative documents...marriage certificates(declared profession in it) and the authenticity of your company's address. Its been found out in some applicants that their presumed companies where they work doesn't really exist...so they need more evidence which is why they are called for interviews. Your marriage certificates may also carry a profession which is not accounted for in your submitted documents...AVO may flag this too. They may want to compare your salary with name of company paying it into your account. We just need to scrutinize our documents to see the grey areas....if possible, send to a thried neutral party to help you constructively cricize your submitted documents for errors. Please go through links below to get an idea of how you can prepare..... http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/interview/applicant/conduct.asp http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/interview-call-from-lvo-in-abu-dhabi-t180658.0.html http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/interview-call-from-lvo-in-abu-dhabi-t180658.1890.html http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/interview-call-from-lvo-in-abu-dhabi-t180658.1905.html http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/interview-call-from-lvo-in-abu-dhabi-t180658.1920.html I really wish all of you the best. Remember, its an interrogation of your credibility...take it as if you need to explains some things that were not clear enough to the officers. The fact that you are invited means they are giving you chance to present yourself under their searchlight....so make best use of it as its a privilege. Cheers. |
solarmanng:Congrats on your updates . Notify them of what actually happened and attached both to stress your point and let them know you are prepared to send them colored photocopies if it is requested from you.Use the medium to tell them about the omitted travelling history for wifey and state the details.Try to explain it's not a deliberate omission. If they need anything from you, they will contact you but it's good to notify them. Cheers. |
Apologies for not posting this earlier.... It was partly due to some of our collective concerns for some of our colleagues having pending issues to sort out with AVO especially the resolution of the POF issues and I'm hoping we have taken the right step in the appeal case....I enjoy all of us to always pray for a positive resolution of the appeal to favor them. Apologies for not virtually joining the eagle's meeting last Saturday....I tried my possible best as may have been communicated to you by the organizers but you guys were too engrossed in your pep talk that I could not get noticed. For many on the Whatsapp group also, I'm sure you know I'm a passive member....apologies for not been active in chatting....I'm lazy and can't keep up with your chat pace....but I have very good buddies who knows how to bring me out of my shell....funny enough, I seems to monitor all the events in the WhatsApp groups. I have too many of us as friends so it will be selfish of me to mention their names by leaving the rest out....I'm used to all the dramas in the house now. This is just a brief synopsis of the pre and post landing preparations and my personal advice/opinion and I'm sure most of you can contact me here on the thread, via PM,via whatsapp chats especially if you are landing around my vicinity for me to offer my small piece. British airline was my option of flight despite knowing the benefits of Qatar airline financially. It involve a 6-hour flight to Heathrow airport with a waiting time of about 8 hours. Another 9hrs flight to YYC Calgary international airport followed. Arrived in Calgary at exactly 5.50pm in Calgary to a rousing welcome by the CBSA officials. A declaration form that will be given to you aboard the airline is expected to be given to them once you land. It's in this for that you will first write your Canadian address where your PR cards will be sent to while in Canada. You are also meant to indicate if you coming in with up to 10,000CAD or not. Other personal information are also asked including the type of goods accompanying you into Canada. I gave this form to the CBSA officer who after welcoming me on sighting my COPR and passports, still verbally confirm if I'm with illegal goods or not....this took about 1 or 2 minutes. I was directed to another officer who confirmed the address I want the PR card sent to again and asked me to check if my details were corrected...and I signed the form off.POF question isn't a routine question here to be asked so nothing on cash was discussed. None of the accompanying luggage was checked even though the 2nd officer accompanied me to take the luggage off and once again, welcomed me to Canada. Some forms on information regarding permanent residency, its renewal, citizenship and qualification in later years were handed over to me.Service Canada had already closed for the day so I could not get Social Insurance Number (SIN) immediately. From my experience and in most cases (unless new sets of pictures is been requested for your preparation of PR cards), you can be sure that the PR card will be ready exactly 6 weeks from your landing date and posted by mail to you. Winter at my arrival time was the best Calgary have had in about 40 years as confirmed by Calgarians even though it was -17 degrees....and -21 degrees real feel. I was told its meant to be between -21 and -30 degrees at the minimum. Coming from a temperature range of about 30degrees, the skin felt the impact as the tolerance level in the winter for your body will just be 5mins before your body start reacting. The good thing about Calgary weather is the “Chinook wind” which is literally called the “Snow-eater”. Its basically a warm wind that eats snow away which makes Calgary weather very unpredictable. The snow partly melt and partly evaporates in the dry wind. History has proved that Chinook winds can raise winter temperature from about -20 degrees to like 10degrees within hours and when the wind isn't blowing again, it's vice versa. In Calgary ...Calgary is so blessed to have this warm wind, I guess most of our kids will know about it in school since they know everything about Canada. The SIN was done the following day with little or no stress after which the nearest registry was located to get the Alberta health card numbers for health coverage which start immediately. Once you have a date you intend to travel....I will strongly suggest you make plans on accommodation on arrival even before you leave Nigeria know most of us wants to do soft landing with our friends and relatives...it's a good thing but it should not be over-exploited.You need your friends/relatives for better things than accommodation when you land so don't use accommodation as a hindrance to it. Please get this form (http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4a.pdf) and fill it to be shown at the port of landing. On POF issues, it's a generally knowledge that they do not ask but I don't want you to relax because of it.The POF for your family size will actually help you settle down in Canada so if possible, bring more especially as this time is not much of good news for workers in Oil and Gas.The Gospel truth is that companies are not recruiting and it may be until end of the year or early 2016 before things start coming into shapes. This does not say you cant get work....but you need to have reality at the back of your mind.Bankers may find it a bit easier and other professions in sales and marketing but please, prepare for the worst. From statistics, new immigrants takes between 2 to 5 years to settle down in their professions....please don't ask me how I come about it but it's the truth. That been said, some are so lucky to get their desired jobs under three months so who says it can't be you? If you are landing with friends/relatives, make plans to move out under 4 weeks especially if you have kids. Enrolling them in school in your temporal address may create issues when you get a new accommodation that is not in the same area. Changing your address also entails a lot in Canada so it's better to figure your accommodation out within a month. Personally have a bosom friend who I can stay with and also an arrangement from my Church for soft landing on arrival but it didn't stop me from securing accommodation before leaving Nigeria was able to make my security deposit before leaving Nigeria (700CAD) for a two-bedroom apartment of 1400CAD monthly. If you are a new immigrant, you will be asked to pay for 3 months because you do not have prior history of rent in Canada (or maybe it's in Calgary). Searching for accommodation can be funny on arrival as some prefer you to have a pet than having kids....some do not want under 18 living in their apartments......some wants to see an evidence you are working in canada......some wants references from previous landlord....some does not want children...e.t.cthis is just for you to prepare what you meet on arrival while searching for apartments. Your choice of apartment also matters but the best time to rent an apartment is during Winter....because you will know the full properties of your apartments. AS much as possible, get an apartment that have most utilities included in the monthly rent (especially water and heat).Mine apartment is/was a good bargain even though you may say its expensive. Water and heating is included, internet and TELUS cable is also inclusive. The washing machine and drier is coin operated with 2CAD each for every wash and drying....expensive but it makes you plan ahead not waste resources have all the major malls infront of where I live so its just like when I lived in Ketu few years ago and I can always run into the market to get things for every meal....it saves time to have mall beside/around you.Bus stops are littered around me also and its just a 5 mins bust to Brentwood/Dalthoutse train station. As much as possible (especially if Calgary is your destination), download “Calgary transit” on your android/iphone fone pre/post arrival because it is needed(other cities have their apps too)....google map also helps alot. Once you have data on your phone, you can never get lost in Calgary. This brings me to choice of fone to use. There are ranges of good networks(between to 44CAD to answer100CAD month) to use when you arrive Canada but from my investigation and personal experience, wind network comes good for a new immigrant based on my comparative analysis to others.Like I have told some people that landed after me,please don't take mine as a rule of thump. You will need a network that the monthly package comes with fairly good data usage on it.You will need a line through which you can call Canada and USA for free as part of the monthly charges. You will need a fone to send international txt messgaes and and also call some of your friends back home.”Wind Network” at 44CAD/monthly gives you 5GB data monthly, unlimited text messages to any mobile number in the world, Canada &US wide calling, free 200 minutes call to any mobiles aside US and Canada on monthly basis...the list is endless.Since you do not have a credit card history, they will get a deposit from you to be refunded back to your line after 6 months since you are on contract with them. You can either bring you unlock phone (provided it works with their network) or better get their phone(which I think is best). For both options, the monthly cost is same so why not get the phone? You can get good smartphones (Samsung or Huawei) with / month and if your taste of phones is higher, you will surely get but with higher monthly charges....Personally,I think you will love their services. Banking options, from investigations, seems RBC have a soft landing for immigrants in their services and I have found them to be good. Though I know some of us are looking for ways to open one before you land but I am not really in support of it because anything on the issue of money prefer you to be in your right senses at your final destination while signing the forms.Once you open your account in RBC bank, you get to have your temporal debit card immediately pending the posting of your original client (debit) card to your home address within 10 working days. You will also get a credit card with a credit limit posted to your address too. Schools – Not sure I need to spend too much time on this since we all know kids 5 years and above can get schools as soon as they arrive. Vaccination records are good to bring along for 16 years and below so I advice you this form filled with you when coming (duly signed)...( www.chinacanada.ca/ss/down/immunization.pdf) . For kids under 5,you can just bring their immunization records if it is available. You may need to put kids under 5 at pre-schools at a cost which depends on what you want. Your children are going to enjoy schooling in Canada because they will be virtually competing with the best brains in the world. Getting a family doctor is easy as ABC here so you need not worry yourself much about it. Driving – I know most of us are so anxious about driving here which is why there is always concern of using your license to drive for three months on arrival. You can use your Nigerian/international driver license for 3 months but you will still need to surrender it later.Personally,my opinion is to get synchronized with Canadian system by first taking their knowledge test (Class 7).This is like a learner permits which is valid for one year before you can qualify to do a road test. The good thing is that with your Nigeria driver license, you don't have to wait for one year since your license will be verified after you pass the test and you can/will be qualified for a road test within a month and become an expert Canadian driver. The knowledge test consist of 30 questions and you need to score 25 to pass it.The questions are simple with preparations. You can use these sites for preparing (http://practiceexam.keys2drive.ca/),( http://www.transportation.alberta.ca/Content/doctype47/production/quiz/PracTestOne/quizmaker.html) and you can download this manual to read and practice (http://www.transportation.alberta.ca/Content/docType45/Production/basichanbookmay08.pdf). Please see this link for more info (http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/Drivers_Licence.cfm).The knowledge test cost about 17.60CAD on the registry that is doing it. Job Search – I will advise us all too be prepared for uncertainty especially if you are in EPC,Oil and Gas sector as the fall in the price of crude oil is having a negative effect on employement. To be realistic, most companies are laying off their staff....last week, about 1,000 staff were laid off by Husky Oil coy.The crude oil price is a circle which will soon be favorable again but the truth needs to be told now that currently, it's not favorable some of us. As much as possible, let everyone of us have a backup plans B,C or even D so you don't get disappointed. Some sectors are doing fine but please let us have our plans to set it rolling on arrival. The best way to seamlessly enter into the Canadian system/workforce is to get their certificate. Settling down pace is different for individuals...very few gets settled quickly but they are just few. The bulk of immigrants will take time to settle professionally...it hurts but that is the realistic truth. Survey has shown that it takes between 2 to 5 years for immigrants to settle down professionally so if by chance nothing comes up professionally on your arrival...just know it's a learning curve that will soon straightened with time......don't also forget the God factor for each of us.I'm saying this to encourage us prior to arrival so that couples wont regret ever leaving Nigeria to come here with no realistic professional opportunities in a year! Too much to say.... To be continued...... Cheers. |
WoodcrestMayor:Some or most of these may be asked but i don't think you should fret if your documents at submission stage is genuine. Trust me,you need other bother about questions above unless there are grey areas in your application which may be doubtful to even yourself .The most common is to ask for the update of your POF especially if the evidence used at submission stage looks suspicious or unsatisfactory. Congrats on your PER . Cheers. |
skidmarkz:If I understand you well...you want to know the validity of the issued visa before entry into Canada. The permanent resident Visa (PRV) is normally valid for one year from the date an applicant successfully carried his/her medical test out......or if by chance,if your passport document is not valid up to year and you submitted it to your local visa office like that, the permanent resident visa(PRV) on such passport will expire on the date the passport document expires....because it is less than one year. Otherwise...its one year. Please be informed also that Accra normally require that the passport been submitted have a minimum of 6 months validity to be considered for stamping. Cheers. |
toksys:Maiden name or married name.....the most important thing is that both of you are legally married. With the inclusion of your court marriage certificate in your application, you have no issues. Foe the IELTS,the result will obviously comes out with the name on the passport document she uses. She can apply as married....remember the inclusion of the marriage certificate is enough reason to know she is answering your name despite that some/most of her documents still carry her maiden name. Whatever you are going to do....dont forget to include the marriage certificate. One last thing...the CIC staff are not dump ....they understand a woman can be legally married and still not have a name change with the evidence of the marriage certificate.Summarily....its not a reason to get yourself worried on. Cheers. |
Biadroit: Sleekjaguar:Funny i'm just seeing this now. Unless categorically included in your returned package to re-send a draft....I'm sure your package wont be accepted again. You should know that 31st December,2014 was the last date for FSWP so any application received by 1st January,2015 will not be considered for FSWP. I may be wrong but its actually the truth of the matter so I will advice you commence express entry route as soon as possible. Cheers. |
labiz001:I really do not know who told you the draft can only be raised in USD. If you check the link below, you will know that in submitting to Accra Visa office, you can actually raised your bank drafts in either Ghanian cedis,US dollars or Canadian dollars. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/ghana/visas/fees-frais.aspx?lang=eng Meanwhile,I think its easier and cheaper to raise US dollar draft than CAD so the current equivalent of 150CAD according to the link above is $120. Please check the link ago to be sure of the existing rate as posted on Accra visa office website. Cheers. |
sevule:Congrats. Wish you speedy processing. Cheers. |
Blackkie:General. Cheers. |
lonchi:Congrats. The POF is a hotly contested topic so be careful not to be caught unaware. My advice is that you get the cash readily available to present it whenever its asked. Even if you invest it,make sure you have verifiable plans to present the documents supporting it whenever you re-coup the cash back into your account as a bulk amount. The POF update may be asked...and may not be asked depending on if the local visa office is satisfied with the documents presented during submission. Cheers |
toksys:The main attributes of the reference letter especially if you are no more there is for it to introduce you as a former staff of the company, your job tittle/designation while there, your period of employment with the company(duration in date),Your job deliverables...functions,Monthly/Annual salary while with them, working hours per week/full time status. The company should also give a brief synopsis of their services. Let it be on the letter head paper of the company and signed/stamped. Cheers. |
bal2012002:Though I did not understand the statement well....but I think you should go all out later in the morning to top up the amount in your account......because they will surely try it again if its CIC. Do not take this chance for granted. Wish you the best. Cheers. |
loriaidah:Firstly ....Have you looked at the option of express entry ? Secondly, please send a CSE to the link below to ask for the status of your application from CIC. https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx Cheers. |
DoubleBam2X:Congrats. 1.Raise a single draft ...either CAD draft or USD draft. 2.You should raise the 1130CAD draft as a whole and include a cover letter that shows breakdown for the three payment. 3.You need to have a domicilliary account ......better still, look for a friend or relative of yours that have to raise the draft on your behalf payable to "Receiver General for Canada". Cheers. |
