AfricaFace: it beats my imagination how NOKIA out of carelessness lost African market.
they tought they have teh greatest market share and refuse to innovate.

see where they are in the competition today. their Research and developement team meeds to be hanged, they refused to do market survey to hear the voice of their customers...

in as much as they have lost in SMART phone competition, why don't they design a new technology entirely.

Thats exactly what they are trying to do with this asha phones. The majority of africans are not ready for smartphones yet cos of money. But give nigerians a 16k touchscreen phone and they will rush it like ice cream grin
You must av been seeing this asha phones everywhere, now compare the number of pple using them to those that use android, or iphones (nt to talk of other java phones o). Blackberrys are the only smartphones u'll find common cos they have cheap data bundles and you can get uk used ones. Africans are still looking to beat poverty and hunger, last thing they wanna do is spend 60k on a 'midrange' smartphone

Nokia 701 is 48k, is there anything like 600? Thought it was cancelled and changed to 603.

I guess all the ones I know av been mentioned, I think all this beliefs work only if you believe in them. A particular one I dint believe was spitting on the floor (causing sore throat) but now I know its only a way of preventing pple from spitting around, without covering it, which can be nauseating to others
Phones / Re: Ucbrowser Versus Operamini by Damon03(m): 7:12am On Sep 25, 2012
Buchika: @damon03: yea uc browser is cool but when it comes to ui opera takes it. My little annoyance with uc browser is that when I open a page from wikipedia and some other sites it must divide it into several pages unlike opera mini, i ve tried all the settings but it s still same. Also i dont know if Anyone has experienced this, when i am browsing with uc browser on my belle phone most of the time it will just close itself. Its very very annoying apart from this uc browser is ok

try to update it to the latest version. That should solve the problem
Phones / Re: Ucbrowser Versus Operamini by Damon03(m): 2:49pm On Sep 23, 2012
O.michael.O:
about the closing of tabs you mentioned,it depends on phone...cos it has never happened on my nokia 603
yea thats to be expected from a belle smartphone, mayb cos of RAM space. Uc has its limitations too. But definately nt in data compression or copy/paste. Its just fully packed with features
Phones / Re: Ucbrowser Versus Operamini by Damon03(m): 9:37am On Sep 23, 2012
toba: u dont know what u are talking about. operamini allows u open more tabs than UC browser. with operamini, u can highlight texts and copy/paste. Uc browser is only better than opera in terms of ease of navigation and picture quality. aside these, opera rocks.
interms of compression, no browser can beat opera mini
Bla bla bla bla, u even had the audacity to tell me that i dont know what i'm talking about... FYI if u try to open multiple tabs with opera it will close the other tabs and tell u to reload them. Why dont u go to ur opera right now and try to open 14 tabs with average pages on each, see what happens? Now try 14 heavy pages with uc and you will understand

copy/paste? grin I cant believe u said that, why dont u find someone to tutor u on its use since u cant get around it urself. Uc has more copy features than opera, its nt even debatable *Hint: try pressing 1* thank me later...

About compression, both of them claim 90% compression like i said but atleast i av 5 diff. image options on uc and i can reduce the data consumption as i want. Since i started using uc browser going back to opera feels like going into a cage, nt enough features!!

I'm quite disappointed, i thought u would compare performance of the two browsers but instead u want to compare data compression. Anyway, both of them claim 90% compression ability. Now folks, uc browser vs Opera mini, which is better?? I'll say uc browser cos of the multiple tabs

Politics / Re: Soldiers Open Fire To Disperse Jos Protesters by Damon03(m): 12:03am On Sep 15, 2012
Let's be reasonable here, I noticed on the first page that any post against the protesting youths or islam generally gets an outrageous number of 'likes' (so I jumped to the reply section), I understand that nigeria has a serious religious problem (quite an understatement maybe) especially with the boko stuff, but thats nt enough reason why threads that can stir up arguements and encourage division to always make the frontpage (like the igbo vs yoruba ones?) . Pple have right to protest although in this case they were wrong cos there's already a law that prohibits protest in Jos( or so they say). So I dont see the reason why a melee should be the next thing on our agenda. If pple made a movie depicting ur God or prophet in a bad way u'll probably react in a worse way (bloody hypocrites). Most of you only know how to protest or abuse while u neglet all the laws set by ur various religions. Bunch of fo0ls.

If u have a problem digesting that then go Bleep urself

Health / Re: Sleeping Paralysis: Share Your Experience by Damon03(m): 3:11pm On Sep 11, 2012
Behind bobo: The fact is even if u do nothing and stay calm you ll come out of it.It s a protective mechanism like someone on this thread explained.A man without this mechanism almost killed his wife by vigorously punching her while dreaming.
It happens when your body awakes without the brain sending neccessary signals to deactivate the paralysis we all experience while dreaming.
However there is a close yet distant relationship between science and the spiritual. just as Galileo was improsoned for insisting the earth was round many centuries back due to his scientific studies, religion beleived otherwise(religion skipped the verse where it was written 'the spheres of the earth').Science was however proven to be true many years later.
In this case one cannot rule out spiritual forces in some instances but the fact is sleep paralysis is natural occurence which protects us from acting out our dreams.

nice point, well said. But lets prevent misinformation. Galileo's argument was that the sun is the centre and the earth is moving round it while religious believe at that time was that the earth is stationary and the sun was moving around.
Health / Re: Sleeping Paralysis: Share Your Experience by Damon03(m): 8:42am On Sep 11, 2012
Billyonaire: It is a condition where your physical body goes out of alignment with the human soul. Consciousness lies with the soul, and it becomes aware of the immediate environments, both physical and astral. It is the first step to what is termed Astral Projection only for those who know how to travel within that body which is not physical. I also experienced it and was scared before I understood what it is, right now, I wait for it to occur cos I know how to make greater use of that natural state, or I make it happen when I wanna travel the world within. Astral Projection, Out of Body Experience and Soul Travel are naturally possible if you harness the natural potentials. And it is exactly where our scientist go for that inner knowledge of truth which assists in discoveries. I have been taught many things while in that state. And I truthfully know who I am today, is based on being able to explore the worlds within the world.
I think I like this approach.

And for those that pray, shout a name or whatever, like i said its good to pray but the only reason it doesnt happen when you pray is cos u are nt afraid of it. Fear always magnify things in our minds.
Damon03: Best thing is to relax and u'll be back 'together'. By the way nt being afraid of it anymore kinda worked for me. It stopped happening years agoafter knowing that i'm nt the only one experiencing it.

Forget all these demonic conspiracy theory joor... For those that see thing or hear spirits talking to them you can choose to believe its the work of demons. But some of us just cant move or open our eyes. First time it happened to me I freaked out, but freaking out just makes it worse. Best thing is to relax and u'll be back 'together'. By the way nt being afraid of it anymore kinda worked for me. It stopped happening years ago after knowing that i'm nt the only one experiencing it.

I used to experience this too, its very disturbing. Its good to recite quranic verses or read the bible but this sleeping paralysis of a thing is purely physical. Sleep on your right side nt on ur back or your left(dont put ur weight on ur heart). If you still experience it then just try to go back to sleep and u'll be suprised how easy you'll wake up.

But seriously this is impressive and exactly what geeks would want - A more than competent iphone competitor.
Its ios vs wp. All others can go to sleep for all i care. undecided

The two times you have handed over power,Nigeria ended up being worse off.I think you always
do that intentionally so you can open your mouth to say your time was far better.

You are a very BAD leader!!

I think N5000 is too much oga Sanusi. But some pple here need to get someone to teach them economics or simply STFU and stop this utter display of ignorance. Imagine pple saying introduction of N1 and 50kobo will bring price of goods down, seriously? This is economic blasphemy... So u as a producer will reduce the cost of ur good cos there is N1 coin? And others ar saying removing the zeros will make the naira stronger.... I cant laugh o, I'm suprised u're literates. So the us dollars will simply comply and the exchange rate will change right? Get real. Redenomination is crap. Unless u want to create an illusion for urself or ur country is like ghana and u need N500 to buy pure water then by all means remove the zeros. I'm begining to think alot of nigerians are just too fucking ignorant.

Phones / Re: Nokia C7, E7 And N7 Which One Is The Best. by Damon03(m): 10:02am On Aug 12, 2012
First of all, there is nokia N7, the poster may mean N8 (cos its more popular) but there is N7(a simple google search will do justice to my claim). Now to really help the poster, buying the 701 is better than buying nokia C7 and buying N8 is better than buying N7. Now to compare 701 to N8 is really tedious cos of the pros and cons of each of these devices. Comparing the camera and multimedia as a whole the N8 is a winner: N8 vs 701; 12mp vs 8mp. HDMI VS AV-out. In simple language its the best for a multimedia person. Now to the processor, RAM and general speed and flexibility of a device, the 701 is awesome: 701 vs N8; 1.3GHz(after FP1 Update) vs 680mHz i.e in simple language the 701 is more than 90% faster than the N8. RAM: 512 MB vs 256 MB. The 701 has 2x more RAM, More RAM means better multitasking. Now to the screen, n8 has amoled which is good for multimedia, deep black for nice picture display and videos( thats no suprise), the 701 as TFT-LCD which is better for browsing( yes, I said that. A simple google search will prove me right). Apart from the 808 pureview, these are the best symbian devices available. If you are not a camera freak I'll advice you get the 701.

jedisco:

This has nothing to do with love for a device I may soon stop using. I just felt like giving some input about my preference and like I remember posting 'except if your mind is made up'. This was me just just saying what my choice would be.

Coming to the screen issue. The last time I checked, the most expensive and successful general phone the iphone which together with the ipad receives over 75% of smartphone profits uses a TFT screen (which obviously has sold better than all of Nokias AMOLEDs put together)
There are several high-end androids that use a TFT screen.
So the issue of TFT being on low end devices is false. And like I keep repeating there are several cheaper AMOLED screen devices.

Moreover, I don't know where you got the idea that a great screen all depends on whether it uses TFT or AMOLED.

Alot of factors are involved like: physical screen materials, screen technologies (LCD versus OLED), pixel layouts (RGB variations), brightness, color accuracy, contrast ratio, reflectance, screen size, and pixel resolution.

Taking the 701 and C7(or N8) for instance most of the above are constant except for brightness (with 701 having the brightest screen on a smartphone) and reflectance which Nokias ClearBlack display more than takes care of.

So all-in-all, I still prefer the screen on 701 to that on C7. As far as symbian is concerned, only E7 and 808 have better screens.

Also a comparison has already been done:
