I undastand why you are tensed. Most times we all get tensed b4 interviews. Calm ur nerves. Since its graduate trainee. Try and google some basic drilling infos, read abt roustabout, am guessing that's where most questions will come from as rig operations trainee usually start from the roustabout. Stay composed, know ur cv as well. Goodluck.

Majority of drilling contractors want to start a new negotiation for her workers. Heard from a NUPENG man that "Transocean and shelf drilling will payoff people in active service and start up with a new condition of service.

Transocean had paid alot of guys off as a result of low rig count. Currently only 3rigs are operational with 702 having better years to stay in 9ja.

My advice: while you wait, try something elsewhere just like me. I worked as a third party and was promoted within 6months to roughneck!!! did interview with seadrill and shelf drilling early july cos of Transocean experience. on my way to shelf drilling/seadrill as a roughneck....

PiperAlpha: Bro, I would advise you to think about this critically. Subsea Engineering is the bomb now, no doubt about that, now that drilling activities are taking place in water depths exceeding 2000 m. However, the prospect of gaining employment as a graduate subsea engineer is very low, except you are connected. If you really are, you can go for it, else I would advise you to think it through, it might not worth it.

. I am always of the believe that There is really no limit to what you can achieve as long as u set ur heart to it. For me, I still insist you go for it. Think inwardly if you can persevere, Job search isn't the easiest of things this days, but I can assure you that with subsea, you stand a very good chance of getting opportunities both locally & internationally. The choice is Yours!!!

Subsea pays real good. If you are fortunate to get a job with one of this multinational oil servicing firms, I bet u can recover that within 6months. So, go for it. Cheers!!!

GeneralShepherd: Hello house. I recently got an admission to study subsea engineering at Cranfield University. Having studied electrical and electronics engineering in my first degree without good grades I believe I can graduate with good grades too from the msc.

The real reason,I am here is for to ask one simple question,is spending 6million at Cranfield University a justified investment? What's the salary range for a subsea engineer? I currently have two years
work experience in the manufacturing industry, will it hamper my chances after the msc to secure a job that will help me offset some of the debts that will result from this advanced degree?

DWD is here for a short contract of 8 months (can be extended tho) with SNEPCO .... So, d ivara induction is basically contract staffs......#i stand corrected still#

@KcPresh82, wish I had all d info to put across, am having similar thoughts with mickeymon tho. Heard ivara is the 3rd party for DWD, so I think the guys that did d induction will be contract staffs unlike the supposed permament/full staff that it shld be through transocean.

For the upcoming Mechanical Engineers, the field of metallurgy and Material Science are great as they have very wide applications particularly the oil and gas sector. One can be a Corrosion Engineer and also a Material and Testing Engineer.

While u consider most of the above mentioned mechanical options in previous posts. I'll also recommend MAINTENANCE as a very vital option in mech eng!!! U can fit into just any industry with it. Its d key to company n operational continuity and sustenance.

Monitor was suppose to be heading for stacking in cameroon nxt week, but seems a last minute turn around is abt changing tins there (what wld hav happened to d crew dats was goin to be on standby?) They wld obviously get preference b4 fresh intakes. So, hope more rigs come in so that enough spaces can come up.

Rig arrival has been shifted to 1st quarter of next year....... So, just keep d faith n stay focused on whatever u have going on for u right now.
