Business / Re: Soko Loan Fined ₦10 Million By NITDA For Privacy Invasion by dangelo101(m): 2:45pm On Aug 23, 2021
The NITDA fine is most likely not because the digital loan firm engages in alleged unwholesome loan recovery methods.

A new data and privacy protection guideline called NDPR has been in effect for a while now and would soon be passed as a law at the National assembly.

This law would compel all organisations operating in Nigeria to adhere to global practices when it comes to personal data and privacy and give periodic reports to the regulatory agency.

Most digital and general firms would run foul of this law if it is passed today.

Learn more about the NDPR and how it would affect your business. And contact me if you need a NITDA licensed Data Protection Compliance Organisation to guide you.

Thanks
Business / Re: Palm Tree VS Plantain, Banana, Casava, Yam by dangelo101(m): 10:50am On Nov 10, 2015
PapaBrowne:
Plantain is by far the best. It produces like a goat. You plant one and come back in a year and it has over 20 shoots around it. But in all, you should ask an expert to ascertain the quality of land and what produce is most suitable.

Another thing I recommend is pepper. Or better still Fresh vegetables. The turnaround times are lower and the prices are better.

What location is your land. I have about 40 plots of 100 x 100 in Edo state. I am looking to scoop up even more.Agriculture is the bomb.

Papabrowne Please I know this post has been here since 2013. But I'd like to know if you ve still got those you plots in Edo. Let's do some business.

Agriculture / Re: Cost Analysis/How To Setup Plantain Plantation In Nigeria With Pictures by dangelo101(m): 10:37am On Aug 23, 2015
@ world 1. I must commend you for the ton of good you have done with this thread. I must confess that I have been a silent follower, never even asked a question. But I want nothing more than to give you the satisfaction of knowing what your thread has done to help improve people's finances and ultimately their lives. I started following the thread while doing my personal research on plantain a while back after I and a colleague decided to start a farm by the side. And I must say going through here daily gave me the strength to continue even when my intending partner gave up. Now I have succeeded in planting over 700 suckers on my 1 acre farm with the help of an iita agric extension staff and I intend to follow through with this till I can set up plantain farms anywhere in the country off the hat with my template. I do have a vision and I know we would ultimately work together as I skirted with the issue of reaching out to you but the financials played a big role in me getting a local consultant from my state, nevertheless you ARE indeed a partner in progress even though you never knew it and now you do! Keep up the good work and soon we WILL do business one way or another.
Thanks.

P.S: if you follow this thread and are serious about venturing into agric as a business then please be ready to treat it as such and prepare to be a part of the growing population of the country that would ultimately find financial freedom the right way.

I think we should appreciate the role of time passage here on this thread. This is my first comment but I understand how long this thread has been for, and progression of events from the very first post by the op to the moments of the last. I think It would be in order and also rather instructive that we all learn about the progress albeit rocky that our farms and all the older posters

I took my time to go through this thread from the beginning to this point, yes every single comment. I must give kudos to you guys. I mean you, yes you. grin grin grin
As an aspiring young oil palm small holder, I have learnt so much from the thread. I have done loads of research in this field but the information I've got from here is second to none.
The real life and practical lessons here have really inspired me more, things I never thought of or came across during the course of my research have all been dealt with and future opportunities.
My dad would always say that there is no substitute for experience and it remains the best teacher till date but learning from the experiences of others and avoiding some careless mistakes makes one even more smarter. That's exactly what I have learnt from this thread.
I have been able to put together some funds and going by this thread its time to take action and START.
From the acquisition of farmland to the sales of the product, everything will be well detailed out.
I'll be posting update on this thread and whenever I need help I can always run here for one.
Once again I thank you all.
are doing. So as to embolden the spirit of this thread which is geared towards idea sharing and common growth I would like to think. One we all appreciate!  Let us conclude on the best practices to grow crops satisfactorily for exports and viz a viz the numbers behind agric, which is generating revenue sufficient enough to cover running costs and returns on investment. Examine a scenario where 1 hectare is said to produce about 2MT a month. And the price intl for a metric ton of palm oil as at Jul 31 according to commodity trading sites hovers around 600usd, annually that brings the figure you can earn from a 1 ha palm tree farm to 7200usd even though it doesn't include cost of processing the fruits to palm oil! When that same 1 ha of plantain can yield in 10 months about 1800 bunches which can sell even at give away confidently at 600 naira per bunch, without any form of processing and a chance of getting higher prices if your yield is good and not forgetting it's (plantains) much more shorter harvest time and hence shorter turn overs! This lack of a discernment of the small holder farmers to choose crops based on the numbers and many more vague business choices after laborious farm work plague the mass engagement of many of our farmers and their ability to turn their farms into profitable money making machines as opposed to the tedious route it is today for many of our African farmers as a vehicle of financial prosperity.

The Business is rewarding and Interesting when you deal with honest players. I personally only involve myself with sellers that can provide a chance for physical inspection of POP documents. Once they can agree to this, I get my buyers to sign their SPA at the same meeting. Although I have only started working on my own, but with my last firm,we were able to seal some deals. In this business its all about contacts, contacts and more contacts. At the moment, I have a seller for BLCO that is ready to provide physical inspection of POP documents for a TTT delivery and now,all the buyers seem to want a CIF delivery situation instead. Perseverance is the name of the game. We push till we can stake up some claim.
Goodluck to all facilitators. your next big deal is just around the corner.
email me at gab.inotu@gpointsms.com if you have credible BLCO buyers.
Education / School Fees Saga In Ambrose Alli Univeristy by dangelo101(m): 10:26am On Feb 23, 2010
"Schools were I learned ,they should be burned, It is Poison".
Now Ordinarily one would take this line from Idealist rap song as a mere metaphor, but in the case of my Alma Mata,Ambrose Alli University,it could actually be taken as literal as possible, the recent happenings in that Ivory tower leaves a lot to be desired or how can you ever explain the very fresh Increase of students school fees by an unprecedented 300% ! It is nothing but sheer madness!,the cited reasons were said to be due to the increase in salaries of University workers and the sincere desire of this administration to develop the University.Reasons, which smirk of insolent abuse of the wishes of the common man so much that we can even allude to the fact that maybe its their grand idea after all, maybe they are finally in their last lap of cleansing out the common men in this Nation.
For a farmer who works real hard and has dreams of his 3 kids going to school and living a different life from his,the reasons are really not plausible, because now you have just shattered his dreams and I'm not writing this to draw blood but to show how insensitive the Nigerian system has become to its very own people. How do you expect one who goes weeks without food in the family to raise fees for his kids to go to school to continue now.Now that all his efforts look as if they are in vain. This is not just an example, this is a mans life.Just one household out of the thousands that this would affect. It is therefore no surprise that some students took the law into their hands by going on rampage, although unnecessary,it goes to show the total discontent in the hearts of the common Nigerian and further presses the question, why?.
Why would a University that has been totally neglected over the years suddenly think it is the students that would bear the brunt of such Decadent Neglect. All the while that Monster of a governor called Lucky was busy Looting,no University Lecturer or academic ever raised a voice not even now while hes walking about free with all our looted monies in his accounts, believe me if we ever get just 1% of that ,our university would not need to increase fees, but no.All they ever wanted was there salary, they dont care what happens to the students they claim to educate, thats if they ever come to class to educate them in the first place. They dont know what goes on in the homes these kids all come from. They frolic with peoples daughters and get paid at the end of the month, now they want more and what do they do,lets milk the students. And wheres our government in all this? silent, like they ve been since each of these student was born.
Not to be totally indignant and unobjective,I seriously think they way the government is going about this is wrong.yes, lets raise revenue.Lets develop, but lets not kill the common man with stress while at it,we dont give student loans,we dont give jobs where students can work and pay back,we dont give welfare packages to parents who are struggling but we want to Increase the school fees, how does the math ever equate into justice? How do we make sure the common man is not victimized? Whatever happened to government subsidies or the likes? Whatever happened to slow increases and cushions? Whatever happened to Sensitivity and the Interest of all at heart?.Instead of this fire brigade approach, why dont we look around at an all encompassing approach,a broad one that helps the payers of this fees while making sure that the fees are paid in return.Whatever happened to the ultimate goal of societal Education not attained by school fees paid through the Nose.Until this Issue is thoroughly looked it,the masses will hold all of these in their hearts, they will carry it about and God forbid the day students starts taking frustrations out on Lecturers.God forbid the day the Ivory Towers in our dear Nation would be nothing more than a bloody battlefield.Think Nigerians.Think.

Yes .I am.and I know a million youth out there who are just fed up.but have no voice to stake a claim for a change.Their time will come. Our time will come and we will not disappoint.for our kids sake,we wont, unlike our elders,we wont.I remember a time when they said Nigerians traveled abroad on Uk scholarship and sorts, now we cant even get a good school in all of the country. If they enjoyed Nigeria when it was still better and left this nearly failed state for us(actually still dragging it with us).we would leave a better country for our kids.
Politics / The Panacea Anyone? by dangelo101(m): 1:02pm On Jan 30, 2010
I have only just Joined Nairaland and like many my age,I actually joined to post CV's,I never Intended to be drawn into the refreshingly nice Web Family of Nigerians that I have come to see here in the last couple of days. One thing stands out though,I ve noticed that in every forum, topic or thread(I'm still pretty much a novice at this) that I come across,I have been faced with anger and disillusionment with the project Nigeria, people are giving up on the country on a whim and there are so many posters who post from abroad who give stories of how embarrassed they are to be Nigerians.I say, arent we all? But if we all continue to be this Negative, who would be otherwise? So I thought of this topic,as a nice way of opening up the brilliant minds of my fellow Nairalanders(If im right to call myself one),I really would love to see a change in My country and would love to see everyone participate. From Bankers,to engineers,to Lawyers, doctors and Nurses,no matter what or who you are,If your a Nigerian and want to be part of the change, please talk about a problem you dislike most in the country, one thorny issue that you just cant get out of your mind,One great mess that just embarrasses you every time you think of it and after you do that, write about how best you think a solution can be found, yes a solution!. A PANACEA !
let us use this topic to find answers to our 101 billion problems as it were, little by little, issue by issue, lets say what we dont like and say how we think it can be resolved, maybe, just maybe we can look through everyone of them, come together, and then forward our best ideas to the right authorities(ok,i know what you would say now,but Lagos state is a good example,I dont think if Gov fashola hears about a group of Nigerians calling at his office to visit him, bringing ideas to solve problems in Lagos,he would fight against it),above all, lets see if we really and actually know a way out of this lingering mess,is out our electoral system? is it the way our politicians see their office as investments? is it the nonchalant attitude of our civil servants,or the total downturn or our education sector, whatever it is we feel we want to talk about, lets end it all with what we feel would be the solution, please in your replies,do not leave without a solution.
Thank you.

It's really good to see how much passion and love we have for a country that doesnt recognize our existence,.We would at a heartbeat talk back at any foreigner who makes the mistake of saying our country is corrupt, bad or any other foul adjective we have come to be known by these days.We come online and pour out our views and then we go home to sit through the roller coaster ride called Nigerian Life, but it baffles me to know that even though the country has Minds, brilliant, sane and knowledgeable minds who think they know how the government should be run, none of them ever stands out to be counted amongst the people who actually do speak out. There's no true fighter for our rights that we can stand behind and clamor for everything thats ours to be ours.
The Nation is without a collective voice that is strong enough to be thorns in the side of the oppressors.all we do is indoor talk.talk ,talk and more indoor talk, If Only FELA didnt die.If only Dele Giwa didnt die a martyrs death,If only Gani didnt leave early to join his ancestors. If only, they hear our cries. If only we had a Voice. We have elders in this country that sat by and watched all this happen to their nation at its birth and now they are still siting by,no one is talking, they want to live to be a 100,no body wan die,but everybody want Nigeria to better. But until we realize say we go need to wound, injure, even die for our country before e go better. One thing remains though, the disillusioned youths that you see today, you shall see them no more, they will make a way for themselves and when the time comes ,when our time comes,we will not make these same mistakes.NO SIREE,WE WONT!

Now can someone tell me how a whole Nation can be kept in the dark by its own leaders? The passage of a bill like the FOI would see this sort of thing never happening again, but would they pass it? that remains to be seen. Now how do you assure 150 million people that they are being ruled by the constitution when a few Govt workers can seat down and say their word is what we should listen to.What is wrong with the president? Is he unconscious,Is he dead? Is he living? why would you put a whole nation in a state of confusion when a simple Public address could end all of the speculation.I dont blame them,I blame the journalistic Influence in this country that has gone dead since the days of the daily times,or how else would you explain one single journalist not being able to Investigate and inform us on what is going on? If the Senate, the National Assembly and the FEC cannot some together for the good of the Nation, then they are coming together for their very own Good.which obviously is not in the best Interest of the Nation!.Why are we so blind to see that the cabal that has its hold on our country isnt about to let go,they are creating a state of lawlessness that would ensure the coming back of thier cronies, either Millitary or so called Democratic,I hope we realise this before its too late,Centre for democratic Governance,Please take note. Its high time the Nation itself fights for the right to govern itself. We the people are afterall the rulers, not them,we need a state sponsored enquiry into the present health of the President, and we need one now! in the meanwhile, SOMEONE PLEASE pass on to the Deputy PLEASE!
Politics / Re: Reps Reject Foi Bill Again by dangelo101(m): 12:10am On Jan 29, 2010
I am a young Nigerian and have always wondered if truly the one we call our elders and leaders ever think about us when they make certain decisions, especially decisions that affects us ,although ultimately I know that our future is in our hands,it goes without saying that the leaders are responsible for laying the ground work for whatever future it Might be,and it is pretty obvious that these crop of leaders are not the ground work laying type, and there are so many evidence to that effect.I would not want to go into what FELA would call Old story thats why I would rather post a reply here,I think this is Huge, yes the FOI bill,it is huge for whatever democracy we think we have now or one that we would like to have in the future,It is a visionary Idea and one that has lived with every democratic government since the system of government was created, what shackles would break from the necks and legs of the masses by the passing of this Bill goes without saying once again,so why foot drag, why stall something that could actually put this generation of politicians in a good light in the eyes of posterity, even though some of them deserve never to be remembered? why lose the only chance to redeem the damage that their Politricks have brought on the Nigerian People, are there actually sincere Elders/leaders out there with the future of the nation in Mind.what sort of solution do we expect to get from people who dont even care about how we live, eat, drink or sleep.Half hearted ones at best.ELDERS /LEADERS INDEED.
