It surprises me that our fans still think we have the best personnel to win afcon right now,

It surprises me that our fans don’t rate friendly matches

It surprises me that our fans are quick to look away from obvious shortcomings and weak links

It surprises me that our fans think we have a world class team

It surprises me that our fans are ok with our wingers being the most inconsistent players on the team.

It surprises me that after our loss to ghana till date we still have no #10

It surprises me that nobody is talking about how our play style is all over the place 2000s kick and follow style of play.

I’m not here to criticize but make afcon come first.
Just negodu this guy 🤣🤣

If it’s tickets holders that are complaining it’s absolutely fair

Because the team has to show value for the ticket you bought

But it’s those Tv watchers and piracy streamers that complains most

Same people who won’t watch super eagles if they’re playing a match in their city but can criticize criticize

It’s getting out of hand abeg

Guys here always naming unknowns but can’t work with what they currently have

If somebody has to buy a ticket to watch a football game, then what is tjr essence of the sport going digital? They should just reverse back to the olden days when nobody knew the existence of several teams and it's players..

You know what I find very funny? It is the fact that somebody like you who has a reputation for insulting players on this thread has suddenly turned defender of the universe..
Abeg, wetin u chop? Pass it acorss to darkelf/blueelf and maybe Gustav and aforbear too

i think the guy is right. Moses is just like Sterling in Chelsea very annoying player but still more effective than the other wingers. Moses should be one of the oldest in the team, people expect a more mature play from him.

The thing with Simon is that he can be very hot or very cold in the SE. Mostly, he is cold. But when he goes hot, he is a fun player to watch.. Like during those group-stage games at the AFCON. He later went cold against Tunisia, lol.
His style of play makes him too predictable IMO

100% with you on the bolded. 3-5-2 would be the best as it helps stabilize our MF and gives cover to our back line. Our strengths are in attack and the wing back areas. This formation would maximze our strengths while mitigating our weaknesses, but this JP guy na better fool.

Even that 4-4-2 can still work if the right personnel are used. Like I suggested some days ago, Iwobi should be deployed to the flank in the 4-4-2.. Iwobi loves dropping into midfield and as such, he would provide extra body in the midfield..

This is true, even Argentina played a 4-4-2 at times during the last WC but the difference is the 4 across the midfield had at least 3 actual midfielders in Rodrigo De Paul, Enzo Fernandez and Alex Mac Allister. It was more of a 4-3-3 as Messi would play as a RW and Alvarez as ST.

We play 4-4-2 but with only two midfielders. That is the issue.

Another issue with our own 4-4-2 is that the two players that ought to start RM and LM aren't exactly adapted to the role.. I'm referring to the duo of Lookman and Chukwueze..Even Simon isn't that adapted to the role... They drift away from midfield too often and that leaves space for opponents to explore...
I'll say it again, if Peseiro wants to stick with playing 2 forwards up front, 3-5-2 is his best bet..

Just to chip in.. Man City weren't exactly a useless club.. they were more like just an average club.. A club many people didn't expect much from.... So their supporters couldn't have abandoned them, given that they didnt really have high expectations from them... The Arabs coming in totally changed things..

The fans also underestimated the teams that won 1980 and 1994 Afcon abi.

In the history of Afcon,Nigeria is always amongst the teams to beat except 1990 and 2013 where fans are not sure but Westerhoff and Keshi knew what they wanted but can we say the same on Peseiro.

Nigeria fans were so sure of US 94 team and also France 98 team....fans didn't rated 2002 and 2010 WC teams fans and it came to pass...2014 it was 50/50 cuz some fans are skeptical of the team but they made it to second round.....2018,fans are not expecting much.

So I don't believe in fans underestimating eagles will lead to better outing.

I don't even agree with the notion that fans are underestimating the team. The team has been largely unconvincing under Peseiro, and nothing seems to be getting better.
I remember Randy Waldrum was not liked by most fans before the women's World Cup, and rightly so, because the man was doing all sorts of nonsense experiments with the team. But prior to the World Cup, his team started to get better, and he was getting his tactics and selection right. That improvement extended to the World Cup.
But with Peseiro, I can't see any sign of improvement yet.
I pray I'm wrong, though.

I thought they said he used 343 today.

Apparently he didn't want to switch because it's probably all he knows

IMO, 3-4-3 is more or less like 4-4-2 because in the end, we will be having 2 midfielders... the man just doesn't know anything.. Rohr was better than this..
I don't miss Rohr, and I never liked the idea of hiring Peseiro either, especially after I saw his CV

Well written and of course you are an incurable optimist which is a great thing. Better to be an optimist than a pessimist. I remember the tournament very well with the team led by Chairman Christian Chukwu.
But in this instance, I believe JP is incompetent in my opinion. Our marriage with him isn't just working.

I share your sentiments... I'm here thinking our current form won't matter given that we have shown that we can step up when people least expect..But Peseiro doesn't inspire me with confidence.. For one thing, he has shown that he doesn't want to switch the team lineup and tactic from the archaic 4-4-2 despite many proof that it doesn't work anymore... The man no sabi at all...

Nwabili

Osayi-Samuel
Alhassan
Onyedika

Chukwueze
Simon
Sadiq

3-4-3

It seems like Peseiro is still not sure of which lineup to use at the AFCON.

Some reports said he tried 4-3-3 in training, but yesterday in the test game, he tried 4-2-4.. Today, he is trying 3-4-3.

Your stuck in mediocrity and lacking in knowledge both theory and participative quality experiential. Essentially you still deh village .

Quality midfielders don't get type cast into a one dimensional straight jacket 🧥 of one role, DM.

Ngole Kante is primarily a multi skilled and dimensional midfielder that turns defence into attack and has innovation with creativity, creating multiple attacking options and contributions. You would not call him a strict DM , he is so much more.

You clearly have no idea 😞

The same goes for Rice, Casemiro, Bissouma, Caicedo, Rodri, etc. The DM role is not so restrictive anymore for the top teams its more of a HM ( Holding Midfielder) where you become ambidextrous and multi skilled shifting seamlessly from one position to the other connecting and determining the nature of play, offensive and defensive.

Rodri last season in Manchester city had the highest number of passes in the EPL, 189 higher than Lewis Dunk in second, and 546 , Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, the closest midfield player. He has also had more touches than anyone in the league.

So when I look at midfielders, if you are limited to just playing primarily defensive, little or no creativity and offensive ability. You are not going far and I can't take you far. That will be the basis of my player assessment.

You went from calling Douglas Luiz a DM (because you said Ndidi couldn't get into the Aston villa team) to giving a lecture on how he is a versatile player 🤣😂 Nice one

Sounds like you just educated yourself..

Still it doesn't explain why Tim has made less than 5 appearance this season..if he is so rated, he would be getting quality minutes

I once donkeys 🐴 ago said the NFF should very quickly cap Tomori before he BLOWS as well as Eze they did not.

Apart from Iwobi none of our midfielders will smell the Aston villa bench including Ndidi.

Tim is on the bench with Brazilian international Douglas Luiz standing in his way.

The midfielders he would have to contend with are Alhassan, Onyedika, Onyeka, Aribo, Ndidi ( and for some highly delusional Nwakali)

My answer is a very loud 🔊 and resounding capital YES.

For goodness sake it's an insult when you can have Nwakali in the SE discussion to ask the question❓ Can Tim get into Eagle's current midfield? You dey shalaye

Dey play...
This Tim has barely made up to 5 appearance this season... You're mentioning Douglas Luiz because he is the only top quality midfielder in the team..Funny enough, the other day you called him a DM, which he clearly isn't..
Just dey play

From what I see of Awaziem I would say he is the slowest player in the SE a complete snail 🐌

There is a reason why Awaziem and Omeruo have never gone to any better league or club and are always in regression. They are poor quality.

You would have been better off getting 10 or more Nigerian origin CB's available in the Championship.

Awazeim has played in the Spanish, French, and Portuguese leagues. So those are not good leagues?

i just can't phantom the rationale why the super eagles choose to camp in Dubai when they could have camped in nigeria, considering our proximity with tournament host.
Well, on one hand, camping away from Nigeria can help kee the players from distraction by fans, journalists, agents and all those clout chasing politicians. On another hand, the training facilities over there might well be better than what we have here.

Omeruo is an expired drug there is nothing to try out, IMO.

KC is supposedly injured and may incur the wrath of his club, although he is no longer a crucial player for them.

After 20+ games in the Championship he has scored 5 goals and is joint 35th in the Championship 🏆 alongside 16 other players. It's not exceptional and outstanding quality currently.

If Iheanacho wasn't a crucial player for Leicester,he definitely won't be playing that many games...
Anyway, in the super eagles,he's been known to step up at times when the chips are down.. he is one of our most technically gifted player.

Meanwhile, Owngoal are reporting that Peseiro is trying out Omeruo and Bassey partnership.
