I am very much like you as I watch football for enjoyment not as an intellectual exercise but goodjoe and Mickael2 pushed(I bet they don't know) to want to develop a more tactical eye. I wanted to understand what pressing meant, double pivot, gengen pressing, regista, libero, false nine etc. This site helped me. You might want to check it out: http://www.thefalse9.com

thanks for recommending that site. I have checked it out and it looks like one I'll enjoy thanks alot

na u sure pass. no tell me u dey wait for new npfl season b4 u get active again. join us na.

Bro make I no lie u, I m not really good at discussing football tactically and analytically, reason is because 1) I am not always opportuned to see games frequently, Nigerian matches are the few ones I see on a frequent basis
2) I watch to entertain myself most of the times .

however I really want to go deep into tactical discussions but I find it hard to do and that's y I always watch others do it in order to learn.

before I only knew 4 departments on the field of play which is GK Defence Midfield and Attack now I know the sub departments like DM AM CF WF LB RB and some others. I v learnt a lot from this thread even more than playing Play Station has taught me.

I really value the contributions of Kog45 Tbaba Icon4s, please where is Joseph the founder of this thread he also is a member of the honourable elders, someone who has slotted into this thread without any look of a newcomer is soetanoreoluwa, I like his contributions too AiG07 where at thou, in fact everyone on this thread is great I appreciate always being here. Goke too is someone who drops by time to time. thegoodjoe I no 4get am. forgiveness, Mickeal, elyte and omanbala, how can I forget Komekn. he believes league 2 in England is bigger and better than the eredivise in Holland (na joke o bro).

so davep I'll join in the tactical and analytical discussion when I get the full grasp of it which is very very soon. for now I'll discuss the ones I can and no I'm not waiting for the NPFL that's a long time from now.

libero808 u r doing a good job. joebie where are you its been a while I saw ur monicker and tbaba i love ur updates on the Nigerian players every match day.

any one notice how iheanacho almost put a heavy touch on that pass he receive before laying it to slimani?

many have talked about his poor touch but I just had the best view of it tonight, I saw that one against Zambia in the first leg but I thought it was one of those things anyway I hope he improves, just one touch can make a win and one heavy touch can also make a team lose a game.

no one gets angry sir...it's just your opinion...
It only draw my attention whenever epl or championship league is being used as a yardstick to judge SE players...because England that have been using same league players since ages have not won any world cup for years....the only one they've won was in 1966 during the time men still wear pants to play football..a tournament of just 8 teams...

so let England thrive wit those players first in the world cup, Euro nations cup...
beat Brazil,Spain,France and Germany...
then I we all can join in canvassing how good the championship is....

moreover....take a look at all the winning teams in the world cup and Euro nations cup....their players are scattered all around Europe they have those playing abroad...and lots more...e.g France...I think a player from the MLS was invited last time during their Euro quest...and they beat hell out of the lowly Iceland that whipped England.

lastly if shehu playing in backwater league...could develop so much guts some he displayed in the last olympics and presently in the colours of the SE...then the epl and it's kind Should never be used to judge our players....
moreover this boys potentials are never in doubt...but just that not everyone got the opportunities those borough players enjoyed...
well trained, groomed and cultured and happen to play in an organised league unlike here in Nigeria...I can tell you talents abound in Nigeria...should Nigeria have a league as organised as the south Africa or Algerian league.....we will likely win the world cup..

despite the organised league England has...at their disposal all they could get from it....in senior men's football is world cup qualification and nothing more.

Bro even the British media have been coming to terms that the league x made interesting by foreign players not majorly English players, Harry Kane x the only English shinning light in that league then just Rashford, Ali and a couple of young goalkeepers the rest are just dere. their squad x mediocre and just average or a bit above at best. apart from Kane Dele Alli, the rest are just bunch of players enjoying prominence and popularity because of the EPL image nothing spectacular about them, Chamberlain, Theo Walcott even Stones are a good example of how mediocre their players are. Remove foreign players making waves from the league and what u v is a Scottish league.
Komekn bias x based on his long stay over there and because he has seen a lot about the players and football in England which I don't blame him tho everyone has one bias or the other but komekn should know that the world doesn't start and end in the Epl and championship

Even before reading those comments I already knew those that will be for and against Mikel.

Reminds me of the days of Kanu Nwankwo as a player. No matter what he did some people still never rated him highly.

Finally October is here, our month of World cup qualification.

Happy new month all.

good morning happy new month.

Happy independence to Nigeria as well

Yes he was their captain at some point but in no way is/was he a Madrid legend. That is the thing, just because you play very well for a team over a long stretch does not automatically make you a legend. Hierro would probably make it into the best 50 madrid players ever but that does not make him a club legend, Mikel wouldn't even make it into Chelsea's top 50 players(he probably should though but he is black)

I didn't see this yesterday, waking up to see it dx morning meeehn I SMH. who are Chelsea that Mike won't make their Top 50 players, u r the one that would probably do that compilation if Mikel wouldn't mk it. before Abrahamovic era Chelsea were just a normal club the seldom won titles n cup, how many legends do they v during the 1900s till 2000 b4 the take over, how many do they v after take over , Mikel should top 20 of any sane Chelsea legends list, the top 5 of that list would be Terry, Lamps, Drogba, Cech, Di matteo, etc etc if I ask u to continue till 20 I'm sure u would be lost before u get to 15. even Arsenal who had a long history and lots of players still see Kanu as a legend, if Kanu is an Arsenal legend my good brother Mikel is a Chelsea legend.

typical. I have already pointed out that Mikel was a great player for Chelsea who deserves a place in their history but not their legend, how does that make me a hater? Whenever you criticise a nigerian you become his/her hater? Will hating on Mikel increase my salary? Or will it elevate me to the rank of a consultant in 2months?

see if u wan criticise Nigerian players u v to do it objectively, with little or no Bias, we argue with evidence of the way Chelsea see Mikel not because of His Nigerian blood of because he is from Nigeria. Fifa will recognise him a legend, CAF will do d same those are the other 2 apart from Chelsea and NFF whose Opinion about him will be held in every argument.

Pinto is synonymous to Agbim. he was lucky to be in a championship winning team.

Thank you for your exceptional point. Even though Giggs did not cross over to do it in the International stage, his longevity which spans almost two decades raises his status to legendary because Giggs did it for so long at a very high level.

you said if you remove his Man City era then he has nothing. Well he has the champions league for Barca and an Afcon for CIV, so his own Afcon is different from Mikel's own?

the thing is YAYA'S IMPACT @Barca is nothing Compared to Mikel's IMPACT @Chelsea, if I was lucky to sit on Barca's bench during their champions league winning campaign I too will v a champions league medal. u get?

the IMPACT over a LONG PERIOD is what stood MIKEL out. yes MIKEL won the Afcon before YAYA.

another thing, Mikel SURVIVED over 13 managers in one team before Conte came, but YAYA in his prime lost out under only the 3rd manager. Mikel survived different philosophies even when he was in form, out of form, inside form, on top of form he was always innit.

so he is a legend who was never even nominated for the FIFA XI never mind getting into the team? Ok

Excuse me are there just 11 world class player playing every year? there are many exceptional players who miss out of the FIFA 11 and dat doesn't devalue their talents and qualities most of the times the trophy winning teams like BARCA and Madrid dominates the fifa 11 and say bayern but that doesn't mean legends don't exist in other parts of Europe and elsewhere. if u use ur logic then people like Giggs isn't a legend cuz he never played a major international tourney abi? remember unknown players from Saudi and Honduras players do make the World cup.

Mikel wasn't so famous at Chelsea so Legend? No

Wasn't "FAMOUS"??!!!!!!

Does "Famous " now v a different meaning which I don't know. why do u guys like antagonising him?

OK I think it's high time u people stopped this Mikel argument. the guy x a chelsea legend so nobody's opinion cam change that. I mean comparing Yaya at barca to Mikel at Chelsea. remove Man City era from Yaya's career and the rest is average. but unless u remove chelsea era from Mikel's career u can't render him average cuz he still has the AFCON & the FIFA recognition. 2nd behind Messi no b beans abeg.

if he were white u guys disputing him wouldn't be doing that, referring him to people like Pinto?? that useless goalkeeper. he was long at barca coz they really had no need for a 2nd goalkeeper during that period values had little to do as number 1.

Mikel x synonymous to Chelsea many know him for his exploits in both the GWG jersey and the Blue shirt

Enyeama Remains First Choice, Ezenwa Is Our Fourth Choice Goalkeeper – Rohr Clarifies

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says FC Ifeanyi Ubah shot stopper Ikechukwu Ezenwa is official the fourth choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria.

Rohr made this known while discussing the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers game which ended 1-1 between Nigeria and Cameroon in Yaounde, a game Ezenwa kept goal for the Nigerian team.

The Franco -German coach of the Nigerian team revealed he wasn’t disappointed with the performance of Ezenwa despite the goalkeeper giving away the penalty from which Cameroon levelled.

“You know that he’s our 4th goalkeeper, the three other ones you know-Enyeama is injured and cannot play, Carl Ikeme is sick and we are praying for him, Akpeyi is also injured, so it was a problem for us going into this fixture,” Rohr said.

“You can say he did very well; he must work harder now. We have two goalkeeper trainers to help him improve more, but overall, he did brilliantly well and also he played well for the CHAN team against Benin, so I am excited that he will deliver for the team when called upon.”

Shedrack Obi

owngoalnigeria.com/2017/09/05/enyeama-remains-first-choice-ezenwa-is-our-fourth-choice-goalkeeper-rohr-clarifies/

based on what Rhos has said here we can assume Akpeyi will go to d world cup, shey? since he is 3rd choice(let's assume Ikeme recovers on time)...... issokay

BTW if Ezenwa is fourth choice, what choice is Alampasu oo, fifth choice, or is it sixth since Ajiboye is now in the picture........ is it a crime to be a youngster in the team ni, somebody cannor shoose to be yung again, if I b Alampasu ni, I go just ask rhor may he kuku kii me, Haba 5th choice lai she JAMB slip.

4 those saying Cameroon are minnows, u r wrong, by that logic of its then we can assume Netherlands are minnows as well because thay are not finding things smooth, we beat them 4-0 doesn't make them minnows overnight, abi no be here we they pray make we win them in Uyo and at most a draw in Yaounde, now that we went ahead to claim 4 points they r minnows....... SMH abeg if they are minnows what is Algeria oooo Minnowestest abi.

let's give it to the only Nigerian Referee that has been involved in International matches in recent times, Anietie Ferdinand udoh, he was the referee in the South Africa vs Cape Verde game that just ended. his AR1 is also Nigerian but can't recall his name. sincerely I v not really heard of any other Nigerian referee on the African scene, he was involved in some Caf champions league and Caf confederation cup matches last season. I hope we produce more of him.
