National Independent Wireless Broadband Quality Reporting (NIWBQR) which measures the quality of customers’ experience in mobile wireless networks in Nigeria, has ranked MTN Nigeria first in terms of quality of service offered to customers. This is a report on tests carried out in November 2019 on the Island in Lagos. The ranking was performed by processing Connection Drop rate, Connection Setup failure rate, Throughput and Latency, and assigning figures of merit based on the results. Important Metrics Considered: 4G availability: 4G Availability is a measure of coverage from areas they tested and confirmed the availability of 4G or the absence of the technology. Latency: latency refers to the delay users experience as data makes a round trip through the network. visit https://www.enextwireless.com for the full detailed report and other reports from other areas around Nigeria. visit https://metrics.enextwireless.com to check quality at your location today!!!

Visit www.enextwireless.com, they perform the National Independent Wireless Broadband Quality Reporting (NIWBQR ). They benchmark the performance of Mobile Network Operators accross Nigeria. |
In Nigeria, mobile service operators do very little or no optimization after deploying their network, Rainfall also increases call drops and punctuated connectivity. Some networks are already very choked and performing poor, rain will aggravate the effects of already choked networks. Sometimes this happens where the local telecoms infrastructure is already old or badly connected allowing water to get into the equipment and change the electrical properties thereby causing a change in performance and in some cases causing a short of certain lines, reducing the total bandwidths. In microwave communication there is a phenomenon know as Rain fade which refers primarily to the absorption of a microwave radio frequency (RF) signal by atmospheric rain, snow, or ice, and losses which are especially prevalent at frequencies above 11 GHz. It also refers to the degradation of a signal caused by the electromagnetic interference of the leading edge of a storm front. Rain fade can be caused by precipitation at the uplink or downlink location. It does not need to be raining at a location for it to be affected by rain fade, as the signal may pass through precipitation many miles away, especially if the satellite dish has a low look angle. From 5% to 20% of rain fade or satellite signal attenuation may also be caused by rain, snow, or ice on the uplink or downlink antenna reflector, radome or feed horn. Rain fade is not limited to satellite uplinks or downlinks, as it can also affect terrestrial point-to-point microwave links (those on the earth's surface). |

Enexgen Wireless has been reporting performance of LTE service providers in Nigeria, this networks are still performing poorly, perfect 4G before leaping to 5G. Some areas dont even have 3G service. |
National Independent Wireless Broadband Quality Reporting #NIWBQR- evaluation of the quality of LTE Technology deployment in Nigeria, A case study of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. In this study, the qualities of service (QoS) of the deployed long-term evolution (LTE) cellular networks of five (5) Nigerian mobile network operators (MNOs), namely MTN, GLO, Airtel, GLO and 9Mobile are evaluated. Drive data was collected within Port Harcourt city, Rivers State, Nigeria. Key Findings: >> Airtel has the best LTE Signal Quality >> MTN has the highest peak downlink throughput The Nigerian mobile data market has witnessed an increased demand for broadband with increased usage of smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and laptop computers. Users now demand services and applications from mobile communication systems that go far beyond mere voice and telephony. According to Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) [1], sum total of all active telephony subscribers in Nigeria increased from 142,320,120 in Nov 2017 to 169,104,830 in Nov 2018. This is equivalent to 19.30% change in tele-density. |
