Firstly, the decision to invest is a function of whether the bond and it accompanying 'yield' (more on that below) meets one's cashflow objectives.

Secondly, the Feb 2034 bond is a 10 year bond originally issued 2 years ago at 19%. The 19% was reflective of rates in secondary market two years ago. When existing bonds that are trading on the secondary market get re-issued, they are auctioned and the rate that clears the auction becomes 'marginal rate'. This marginal rate is usually reflective of current rates in the market and also determines the price you pay at the new auction.

Using the N1m as an example.

If you bought this bond two year ago, it would be at N100 per unit and you get N19 interest per per unit per annum being N190k in coupon interest received.

At yesterdays auction, the rate that cleared the auction was 15.5% including accrued interest (N.B: in the this auction, accrued interest is very negligible because the last coupon payment was 21 Feb and the auction was 23 Feb).

So the price per unit would be 19/15.5*100 = N122.58 per unit. So, a N1m bid would buy N815,793 worth of bonds at the auction. This is the face value of the quantity bought.

However, the interest paid would be the original bond coupon rate of 19% on N815,793 which would be N155,000 per annum.

FGN Bond prices have gone up over the last two years just as in this example, which brings one nicely onto 'yield'. Now the 'yield' is simply the amount received in coupon payment over the amount paid. So two years ago the coupon and yield was 19%. Today, whilst the bond coupon is unchanged, the yield is lower at 15.5% because the price of the bond is up c22.5%, i.e. N122.58

Note also that, even though N1m was invested in buying the bond, N815,793 is paid at maturity because that is the face value purchased at the current price.

Finally, your question about the USD:Naira exchange rate. This is a normal exchange rate risk bond investors are exposed to. It can go either way. It could go to N1000:$1, N2000:$1 or any rate for that matter. If the Naira does rise to N1000:$1 as in your example, then it simply means that Naira bonds bought today and their corresponding coupons would be worth more in US dollars and vice-versa if Naira to falls. The most important thing is to be sufficiently diversified for all outcomes.

it helps greatly. it shows that the lower the marginal rate, the poorer the face value you get when purchasing the re-issue bond. So it would be better if the marginal rate is closer to/ above the original bond rate when it got originally first issued.

Also, buying a new bond as first issue is the best. For the dollar fluctuations, I guess it is a little tricky to figure out, but generally find it that the better the rates of dollar, the better it is possible to get returns for investment in bond

If you invest, you're going to get what is quoted in the marginal rate, not the 19% you see at the top.

The Nigerian law has nothing against it. There have been countless of people who took that route especially using IVF and surrogate mother.

I am only trying to get information on hospitals in Lagos offering IVF treatment and to be sure if they have contact for willing surrogate mother. Contracts would be drawn up by both parties.

This information is just a summary of my personal steps which I took inorder to fix my issues which had been a hindrance to me renewing my international passport.

All these steps are carried out with my phone with good camera though it took long time for facial verification to be registered.

1. Go to national population commission and get get Birth Attestation certificate (if born before 1992 year) or Birth Certificate (if born after 1992 year). Cost 20dollars and can be done using self-service option. You need to wait at least a day before downloading the certificate. After validation of NIN in the NPC website, you can modify your date of birth by selecting the correct date on the calender before you continue filling other details. There will also be a page prompt at the end of filling the form for you to confirm your details before proceeding to submit the form. (After the submission, you can only modify few things in the birth document to be generated. Be sure all details are correct before submission.)

2.Proceed to self-modification in same national population commission website inorder to re-arrange/fix up your name details (if your first name and middle name is arranged inappropriately ). This service will cost you 10 dollars. There is a service charge of extra 1 dollar for step 1 and step 2. Don't forget to copy the code generated because it will be needed to download the certificate or start up your registration depending on which stage you are. You can screenshot each stage completed with the code generated for easier reference when needed.


3.When your birth certificate/attestion is in order, you will then be able to proceed to NIN website to initiate the necessary correction for the birth date that is wrong. You will need the digital copy of the downloaded birth certificate/attestation (plus an affidavit). For other modification in NIN website, they have various documents requirements and also cost 20 dollars each plus 1 dollar service charge.



4.After the completion of the NIN document birth date modification, please allow them time to process your document. if successful, you can then proceed to download it.


5.With this updated NIN certificate, you can now be able to rectify whatever issues you have in your bank or proceed to start your international passport processing/renewal depending on what you actually wanted.


6.This updated NIN certificate can then be used to update your BVN details in your bank. Once your BVN AND NIN details matches together, the sky is your limit for any future registration or renewal of government documents you will be doing in the future.


Expenses so far:

1. NIMC modification (date of birth ) 21usd (1usd service charge plus 20usd fee )

2.Birth attestation (21usd )

3.Birth attestation modification (11usd ).
This is for the re-arragement of my name and addition of my middle name to the birth certificate.

4.Birth attestation Re-print (21usd).

5.Miscellaneous expenses (30usd )

This is the major step taken and all issues resolved fully.

I requested a sponsorship letter for visa processing last week, and they agreed to send it as soon as possible. I'm unsure about the content and whether it will cover my expenses. Should I wait for the sponsorship letter or proceed with preparing my Proof of Funds? The resumption date is March 5, and I'd appreciate any guidance or advice. Thank you.
