The north was largely made up of loose small Hausa states with diverse paganism states in the central ( plateau, Niger, Kaduna, nasarawa), many diverse pagaism state in the northeast ( bauchi, adamawa, southern borno, taraba ete), the only area with concederable political and economic structures was the el kenemi empire of northern boorno and south western chad.

This movement happen between 1804–1808, also known as the Fulani War or Jihad of Usman dan Fodio at this point many southern groups like the OYOs, Benis were already trading succesufuly with the portugues and other european group.

Ajami education aka Almajiri educational system which involved memorizing islamic test doesnt count in term of education and this was evident in the gab between the north and the south when the colonial master came. Without the resources of the niger delta, the north east will be as poor as Nigeria republic ( a country with hausa majority, about 55% hausa nation)

Nigeria need to be restructured, the amount of uncertainty we get the moment a serving head of state is having health issues or incapable of performing his duties us alarming. A number of uncertainties that also surrounds transition from one government to another are also very high. A true federalism and decentralization of power from the hand of a strong central government to the states or region will help to curb these power mongers and help to developed the nation

2 things caught my attention...
1) the gains of democracy since 1999... this is coming from an apc chieftain... it's the first time in 3 yrs that there's been any acknowledgment of gains in the 16 yrs of pdp rule

The Yoruba race led the struggle for Jonathan to become president. Wole Soyinka and Tunde Bakare formed the Save Nigeria group. Now the Yoruba have championed the release of Nnamdi Kanu. It was when the likes of Fayose and FFK started calling for Kanu's release that the likes of Soludo and Chidoka joined for political reasons.

But the Igbos always forget and try to stab the Yoruba at every opportunity. They forget that teaming up with the Yoruba is their only road to actualizing any dream, because the North will never trust the Igbo nation. The best bet for the Igbo nation is to team up with the Yoruba.

Where are the Igbo leaders today? They should be the ones championing for Kanu's release. They are all in Abuja trying to decamp to APC - the same party they tell their gullible followers belong to the Muslim North!!. They had to rely on FFK and Fayose. Shame on Igbo leaders.

You've captured the problem well: Nigeria's problem is the great mass of Nigerians themselves, most of whom are insanely tribalistic, woefully ignorant (yet highly opinionated), greedy for quick riches, indifferent to their civic responsibilities, and superstitious in the extreme, spending far more time in churches and mosques than they do grappling with the science and technology that actually makes nations rich.

The reason why PDP lost was that they lost the Middle Belt.

Key states like Benue, Plateau and Nassarawa had PDP gubenatorial candidates imposed on the local branches from Abuja...which led to the popular choices going to APC. (Benue State is a good example).

Then PDP governors in those states....were not doing well at all. Benue was owing workers months of salaries in the run-up to the elections, same for Kogi.

In my opinion...if Benue, Kogi, Plateau had voted for PDP.....the way they did in 2011...GEJ might have edged into victory.

Another reason was in 2011....GEJ built alliances. He allied himself for example with Tinubu in the SW...which enabled PDP win the Presidential election there. By 2015...that alliance was in shambles...and Tinubu had switched to the opposition.

And then they lost Obasanjo to the opposition too. OBJ might have been able to help PDP well....if he and GEJ had not quarrelled.

PDP isn't learning from its mistakes.The party is divided, and members are running to APC. Ah well....Nigeria politics.
