The govt can afford such stadia they just were more concerned about improving the social wellbeing of Kenyans. Thats why we have a higher HDI and better standard of living than Nigerians. I see Botswana as the most African of all countries because they truly embodies progress. Don't sweat according to UNTCDA - about 46 out 53 Africa countries are commodity depedant - it could diamonds in Botswana and Sierra Leone, cotton in Burkina Faso, cocoa in Ghana, sorghum in Mali, oil in Nigeria,Gabon and Angola, and copper in Zambia. All these countries if they don't diversify will have cyclical growth just like commodities behave in global markets...booms and bust cycles. You can't plan anything long term if you're busting and booming.

How can Nigeria have diversified when oil still make 95% of it's gov revenues & exports.

You need to go back to 1960s - ramp production of cocoa beans, cashew nuts, palm oil and such easy wins - and seize the global market.

You need start building manufacturing base that can export to Africa countries. You do that by opening your manufacturing sector. Right now you're focused on import substitution. It like you never learnt of 1980s WB/IMF import substitution...it rarely works.

You need to fix the basics...electricity, roads, gov bureaucracies...make it easy for business to thrive.

I can go on and on...but you're FAR from being diversified.

In other countries - they would call the military - Kenya combined police force respond to terror attack at Riverside, Nairobi. These consist of regular police, the two paramilitary wing (AP & GSU - with elite squads) and the CID (plain clothes)

In kenya rarely are military ever used in anything...and majority use to retire without ever firing their guns in battle. Apart from somali war..they are mostly kept in barracks or outside the country in peacekeeping missions. That is how Kenya has avoided military misbehaving or overthrowing civilian rule. There is a difference though. Alshaabab are launching once in a blue moon attacks dressed like civilians - Boko haram basically occupy territory, drive military cars, and basically rule most of North East Nigeria. That is more a occupying force. Alshabaab do that in Somalia. Not in Kenya.
