rvp20183: You want to turn Lagos into Beijing or polluted India cities where sun is covered by smog. Looking at pictures of Lagos - you're well on the way. Now imagine with your population and your lack of serious on matters enviroment - soon you'll need face masks.Lagos pictures are so grainy it can only indicate there is a serious air pollution problem. I doubt you cannot afford high resolution cameras. Learn from Nairobi and put greenery or enviroment as top concern. Even in whatever CBD - you can still insist on building owners planting trees - elsewhere - including the streets - to compensate for all the carbondioxide they will generate. There is a lot of pubic land that can do with trees and other carbon sinkers - you build a skyscrapper - you got to plant 1 million trees. https://www.chinasmack.com/wp-content/uploads/chinasmack/2012/06/china-beijing-air-quality-pollution-02-tiananmen-square-chinese-face-masks.jpg https://www.dw.com/image/18447440_303.jpg You for kukuma plant the entire Amazon forest join It's not good for elderly people to tell lies. We are part of the European Tour. This are the levels that you won't easily reach. Over 500 million people will be watching the Kenya open in TV screens worldwide! I can authoritatively tell you it doesn't include Nigerians |

Goel: I'm talking about fertility rate buddy. India's population growth rate is 1.09% and fertility rate is 2.3 children per women. If you actually have 2% population growth rate, then look over, its high. Population Growth Rate of India: 1.098% p.a.
Fertility Rate of India: 2.34 children per women
Now, give me stats for Kenya and Nigeria.
I'm repeating, population growth rate higher than 1.5% per year and fertility rate more than 3 children per women is an issue which can your hold per capita income back even after enormous growth.
And don't confuse population growth rate with fertility rate. Fertility rate defines your future population growth rate.
Look when per capita income growth rate has not gone below 5% for last 27 years continuously, population growth rate isn't an issue in India.
Middle income traps happen because of slowdown of consumption and lack of sophisticated technologies, not growing population.
Does not make much difference with an area of 3.3 million square kilometers, our country is populous but not that congested as its large in area also.
We just read the we are second most populous from our books and astound ourselves.
Our most cities are highly congested though except some well planned like Bangalore, New Mumbai, Surat and Chandigarh. We have very few cities which can compete with western countries, China has a lot.
Delhi is one of worst cities in India you'd like to reside, Chandigarh & Surat are best. Why do indians promote English at the expense of Hindi |

I think Njoroge can replace Rotich incase of a cabinet reshuffle or go anywhere either in the public or private sector, he won't miss a job .Ouko too won't miss a job anywhere!
Anyways, whoever comes in has to meet the total credentials as the CBK post is one that cannot be given to just anyone. It requires more than good papers to land it.
Other important posts that would also need new persons include that one of Mwathethe and Boinet. We should easily find correct men for this two positions. You should be grateful to Nigerians and Tanzanians for giving you lazy asses a platform to discuss about your country |

TayserMahri: He has to leave depending on who wins. This is Nigeria! CBN governors in Nigeria are like ping pong. They come and go with every election. The current one knows he only has a few weeks to loot.
Woe unto anyone who thinks Opus Dei makes him or anyone incorruptible. The guy has been accussed of being party to the NYS loot. Its alleged that a lady transferred Ksh 15 million of the loot from CBK to her account under his watch. How did you manage to bring in Nigerian CBN into a discussion about your Central Bank governor. You have a low self esteem FYI, the current Cbn governor was appointed by the Jonathan government and he is still the governor today in the Buhari led government even with a change in government(new rulling party). |

TayserMahri: For your info, Kenya had a massive forum called Mashada as way back as 1998. I think back then you were still having coup d'etats. By the time you were creating Nairaland in 2005, and Jamii Forums in 2006 for Tz, Kenyans had forummed long enough to the extent of misusing fora with the kind of tribal vitriol I see on NL today. Jonraid: Thanks to Rotich, it means that I'll have to fork out more to buy my first car. A new Prado in the Kenyan market costs nothing less than 100,000 dollars whilst in the Australia and Japanese market, the same unit would range from 45-50k US dollars.
I'm not complaining, this is a good move nonetheless. It's about time our local automotive industries benefit from this policy. One of the intentions of such a directive is to make imports expensive in the eyes of our own locally made cars.
In June 2018, Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohammed said that the government was set to block sale of vehicles aged above five years saying the move was aimed at boosting local car makers, calling for discussions with stakeholders.
Second car traders at the time criticized government’s proposals to impose new age limits on second hand vehicles imported into the country saying that lowering this period to five years will lead to a sharp drop in revenue and affect jobs.
Kenya, Algeria, Mozambique, Tunisia and Libya currently allow importation of used cars between age of six to eight while Countries such as Morrocco, Sudan and South Africa have a total ban of second-hand car imports.
The regulations by KeBS will be drafted by Tuesday, January 15 then after, the gazettement and enforcement later in June after budget reading.
According to Car Importers Association of Kenya (CIAK) chairman an average of over 24,123 used cars are imported into the country per month amounting to Sh13.5 billion(130.5 million US dollars) in revenue for the government. How does this concern Nairaland? |

rvp20183: That is Yemi Kale yarn. "The country's economy has traditionally been dominated by oil and gas production (about 30–40% of pre-rebased GDP), but the rebasing revealed major growth in the services sector—including in telecommunications, banking, Nollywood, and the informal economy (which was previously unaccounted for in official statistics)."
I honestly don't see how telecommunication, banking, nollywood and informal economy(how do they measure it?) which appears to be twice kenya can be that huge. Kenya services sector is probably worth 60% of GDP - that is around 55B dollars..Nigeria service sector would be 2.5 times that - around 140B.Your agricluture is just overstated. Your manufacturing very puny. And then just add oil & gas industry.
Re-based GDP has two big lies 1) Agriculture is so over-stated it not even funny. Yemi Kale claims Nigeria has 80B dollars of Agriculture ( I am not talking Agriculture as industry - just basic crops & livestock production). That is size of Brazil - a well know tropical agricultural giant. How does Yemi Kale collect agriculture data - mostly through guesswork. Nigeria hardly export any food - apart from few cocoa nuts & shrimps. 2) Service sector is also inflated...nollywood & informal sector (how does that even work) . You have been shouting yemi kale for over a thousand page now, plus who the fvck is he? Yarn isn't that Nigerian pidgin? Warri pidgin for that matter.. All Kenyans are desperately learning awa language and culture and desperately wish to be like us and talk like us |
