First what big deal about Abuja or Lagos - Boko Haram are killing Nigerians every week - both civilian and army - and have send nearly 10M off their settlement as refugeees.

Why would they bother attack Abuja or Lagos when they control most of North East. Alshaabab use to leave Kenya alone when they controlled large swatches of Somali and had governors, levied taxes and the works. They only resorted to cowardly terror tactics when Kenya forces went for them. Otherwise they were busy fighting Somali gov in conventional warfar.

The day Boko haram is weaken - and they are far from being weaken - I think this year if you count the atrocities - it probably a thousands plus dead and hundrend thousands displaced - then they will resort to guerrilla warfare and will employ suicide bombers & the works. But they are so strong in North East - the scared Nigeria army abandon posts and barracks - and ran on their sighting.

Right now Boko haram are actually fighting a near conventional war with Nigeria army and winning. They have tanks, rocket propelled grenades and name it - they are like a rebel forces trying to overtake the gov.
