Teachers that fell victim in ube when it was their turn have not been paid for four months now.The latest is that they were asked to borrow money and pay to their board for them to get their remaining two months. Thanks for the information. Majority of those I know in UBE who were affected received their salaries in July and some in August. I'm not aware if they were asked to pay some money. Anyone asked to pay some money might be doing a racket to be paid the salaries of the months that were withheld. No matter what they do, they can't stop our lights from shining.

The truth of the whole implementation of promotion salary saga of UBE is that the Accounts staff really did their job haphazardly. Ministry of Finance staff keep saying that it was what was given to them that they used in paying August salaries. This is a great slight on the Quality Assurance Unit of UBE as what transpired was simply GIGO (Garbage In.... Garbage Out). I know that the implementation of promotion salary of SSSB will be with minimal errors due to the pragmatic process involved in the collection and documentation of staff data for the promotion exercise. In summary, SSSB observed all bureaucratic processes involved in promotion exercises.

You are correct, I've confirmed from records. The promotion is from level 8 to 10. Considering the range pasted so far on this forum. Highest salary collected is #123k.
For level 12 it should be 140k and above.

I don't agree totally with you. My Vice-Principal was on GL 12/11 before promotion and what she used to receive as salary after deductions (including pension) was approximately #143k.

I just spoke with a friend of mine in UBE (Primary Section) that's on GL 8/3 with HND and he said that he received #131k in his FCMB salary account. I spoke with a senior colleague of mine in RSSSSB and he said that when our Board submitted the new salary voucher to Ministry of Finance, submission of salary vouchers for August had already closed. He said that RSSSSB will receive the new salary when September salary is paid. He said that the constitution of the new Board is strictly for the signing of the new promotion letters and will not affect the new salary reflecting when September salary is paid. As we can already see, UBE received the new salary today without being issued promotion letters. I must commend the efforts of Comrade Adonye and his team as their actions spurred the government of the day to do the needful in order to avoid scandals. They're all true heroes and patriots.

That's a very noble suggestion. But, the truth is that NUT elections from LGA to State and National levels are done by delegates who are nominated by heads of schools. Last year December, I contested as Secretary General in my LGA but couldn't make it. I've still got my eyes on the ball. Even some of my fellow teachers who we were all employed during Amaechi's tenure preferred to vote for my opponent (an old teacher) who gave them financial gratification. Most times, I laugh when some of us keep complaining about NUT.

I contested as Branch Secretary in my LGA (Gokana) last year. Even though, I didn't win, I gained a lot of experience.

I don't blame the government for treating teachers with utmost disdain, what is our union doing to ameliorate our working conditions? Absolutely nothing. We should endeavor to vote out all those old hags that are afraid to go on strike to achieve their aim, the union only cares about their dues that's why the government can't take us serious.

How many new teachers have contested for any elective position in NUT either at the LGA or State level? How many new teachers have supported and voted for any new teachers for any elective position in NUT either at LGA or State level? We have the majority to decide a new leadership in NUT at both LGA and State level but still end up subscribing to the leadership of the old teachers who are looking for means to amass wealth for their retirement from service.

Abeg, make somebody wey sabi somebody wey get level for Senior Secondary Schools Board put call, so that we go know the exact position of the promotion interview according to the released schedule. This kind memo wey them release today, na which time wey them go use attend to everyone. As for me, I believe say them don already forward promotion salary vouchers to Ministry of Finance. Make nobody worry nobody for this promotion exercise wey God dey fast forward like this.

Is it compulsory to buy a 50kg bag of rice? When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Human Capital Development is the key to unlocking one's potential. Teaching in this clime is a low-income job, so once you become a teacher, the smart thing to do is have multiple streams of income to augment the meagre salary. Petty trading can be done in your spare time, after all, we don't go to school everyday unfailingly. As for me, I took loan and set up foodstuff business. As long as my kids are not starving, financial pressure is reduced. When you keep complaining without any proactive steps to better your situation, it makes no sense at all.
