Romance › Re: Her Pastor Said She Should Not Marry Me by daroz(m): 1:28pm On Jun 30, 2012

olalekan1: Even though we met some months ago through fb, I loved her and want her to be my wife. But as at that time, her heart was broken by her ex when they were about to wed, so I agree it was a difficult moment for her but she accept to date but she kept saying she could'nt wait for about 4 years after which I know by Gods grace I will be working. All of a sudden she started misbehaving like shouting when I call her, shunning my calls and raising lots of insult on me. I suspected she wants to leave me so pressurize her to talk until she told me her pastor said that we can not get married to each other. This is a girl that said she may kill me if I betray her. Please I need advice.
How can u be thinking of marriage now when you know you wont be working untill 4years time. poster, i think you are being delusional, take a nap.
Strange request from a mother. It ought to be the other way round - i.e the mother preaching chastity to her daughter pre-marriage. Have you asked her mother why she insists you must get her daughter pregnant first?

Secondly how old is your fiancée? I'm thinking the only reason she might be going along with her mother's request might be because her biological clock is ticking. . .

My advice to you is to sit down with your fiancée and discuss this matter properly. Get to the bottom of this and at the end of the day, you both should do what you both feel comfortable with.

Good luck.
She is still very young, infact she just clocked 25, and not desperate. Her mum reasons for that condition is that she actually wasted about 5years of her life in her 1st marriage without getting pregnant for the man. She suspected the man was incapable. So something led to another and they divorced. She remarried someone else and started having kids immediately and have been happily married ever since. So she says she just want to be sure her daughter do not suffer the same fate she suffered in 1st marriage. Whoever must marry her daughter must prove to be very potent among other things. She has very high preference to kids in marriages.

If i choose to marry outside church, it doesnt mean I am really giving up church, its just I am marrying without a pastoral blessing, which I think is very important
Romance › pls by daroz(op):
I have been dating my fiancee for over a year now. I recently proposed to her and she agreed to my proposal. Her mum agrees too but insist I must put her daughter in the family way before I can proceed with the marriage plans. We are closely intimate and the ideal wont ordinarily would been too bad, but my church is strongly against such act, and they wont even dare wed us if they finds out she is pregnant. Though well educated and civilized(lawyer) and also presently a (unserious) member of my church, she seems to be very comfortable with her mum decision. She even suggest if I really need to marry her, I should change church or all the same blank the church wedding and head straight for traditional and court only, or otherwise follow the church rules and forget marrying her. I have been a member of the church from my childhood, under the close tutorship of my pastor. I am confused right now. Should I skip church and marry my girl without my pastors blessing or stick to my faith and church practice and lose her. I need reasonable and responsible advice pls, this is a serious matter.

Politics › Re: Lagos State To Contribute ₦1 Billion To Fund Tinubu's Birthday Celebration? by daroz(m): 4:28pm On Mar 30, 2012
remmyz: SaharaReporters has learnt that former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos has demanded that the Lagos State government and various local government councils in the state contribute huge sums of cash to fund his 69th birthday celebration.

Reliable sources told SaharaReporters that Mr. Tinubu, a professed opposition figure and leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), made it compulsory that the chairmen of all local governments under the party contribute cash to give him a birthday that one of his critics has described as “obscene and immoral.” In all, the ACN chieftain has asked the state and local governments to cough up N1 billion.

“The birthday party is being planned as a month-long affair and will be celebrated in phases,” said one source.

In addition to the funds from his state, Mr. Tinubu has also asked that the governors of Oyo, Ekiti, Edo and Ekiti make significant cash donations to the planned events. Our sources revealed that tension may be brewing between Mr. Tinubu and Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State over the latter’s refusal to contribute towards the lavish birthday party.

Mr. Ajimobi recently hosted President Goodluck Jonathan's wife, Patience, during her visit to Oyo State. A source close to the governor told SaharaReporters that Mrs. Jonathan told Mr. Ajimobi not to create enmity with PDP elements in his state. She reportedly described former Governor Tinubu as a closet member of the PDP.

Our source said Mrs. Jonathan, who was piqued by Tinubu’s recent criticisms of her husband’s policies, also revealed that Mr. Tinubu has met secretly with her husband on several occasions. She said that, at one such private meeting last year in France, President Jonathan and Tinubu struck a deal to quash a case against the former governor for violations of Code of Conduct provisions.

After portraying Mr. Tinubu as a selfish politician out for his personal financial interests, Mrs. Jonathan told Ajimobi to contact her directly if he needed anything from Mr. Jonathan.

A source in Oyo stated that Governor Ajimobi’s decision not to bankroll Tinubu’s birthday extravaganza may signal the governor’s determination to escape from under Mr. Tinubu’s tyrannical style of leadership within the ACN political orbit and Ajimobi's move to start a gradual migration back to the PDP. Ajimobi is generally described as a non-performing governor by Oyo indigenes.

Although Mr. Tinubu claims to be 60 years old, a source told us that he is at least 67 years old.
Ask them what ? Are they not nigerians ? I can as well incite fashola to send non-yorubas out of lagos !
They are nigerians, and of cos Fulani have been leaving in the in C river, but 4000 being smuggled to the state with no provision for them is highly unacceptable. If there are crises in taraba, why were they not taken to other part of the north, instead of dumping them in south south. Secondly, we know the presently security situation in the country, not to talk of the violent nature of the fulanies. If they had come individually, it would have been a different thing.

You have consumed all the monkeys and grass cutters , you have turned on the donkeys. Once the Fulnis stop rearing cattle you will go back to your cannibal practices because you cannot live without meat and you cannot rear even goats.

Literature › Re: Would You Buy A Novel Written In Pidgin? by daroz(m): 1:14pm On Mar 17, 2012
And for those trying to compare it with pigin English radio programmes like the ones done on Wazobia FM and co, dont forget that reading a novel is quite different from listening to radio. Even the stark illitrate aboki men are always listening to radio. But its takes more to pick a novel and read. A novel is not even like the complete sport magazine that an average bike man can even read on daily basis.
Literature › Re: Would You Buy A Novel Written In Pidgin? by daroz(m): 1:08pm On Mar 17, 2012
Poster, I will advice you not to waste ur time written such novel, it will be a failed project. The category of pple that really speaks the pigin english dont even read novel. Those are the likes of bus drivers/conductors, market men/women, brick layers, caperters and all other artisans. Whereas, those that read our local novel(such as secondary school students, undergraduates, unemployed graduates etc, very few employed) prefer to comunicate in good english rather than pigin. So they would find ur novel unappealing. For someone like me I read a new novel at least once a month(despite my tight schedule at times), but the last time I read a Nigerian or Afican indigenous novel was so many years ago, when I took English and literature as my elective course in my 100 & 200level. So do you now think if I should now decide to read an indeginous novel, I will now start considering the one written in pigin English, after tasting the high standard foreign ones written by the likes of John Gresham and Robert Ludlum, for instance?
