The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is an international, non sectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict.

In partnership with several international donors, the IRC has been active in Nigeria since 2012 providing essential services for refuges and host communities; the IRC is continuing its operations in North East Nigeria and is soliciting competitive, sealed, bids to establish a contract for the supply of Medical/Hospital Equipment.

shortgun:
Hello house, We submitted tender for a contract in UBEB since December last year, paid for the tender fees and submitted every required documents .... They did the technical bid opening in January this year.
They were supposed to do the financial bid opening the same month but they sent us text message that they will do the financial bid opening on a later date that they will communicate to us.

It has been months now without any communication from the Board.
I don't know what to do next cos they have not awarded the contracts to any company to the best of my knowledge.
My advice to you is to wait. And in case of next time, try to parley someone in the office just for the sake of getting inside information (legal ones oh).

BusinessDigital Marketing, Website Audit And Landing Deals. by databoy247(op): 1:53pm On Aug 22, 2015
For a while, i have been pondering on an issue i can term "emerging". I run the business of website designing and digital marketing. A lot of us advertise "come let me build a business website for you', you pay, we set it up. On your own, you also seek for professionals to help build a website for your business.

Now that you have a business website. Are the following true?

- Your website has not given you any new business prospects which you are doing a follow up in the past 1 month.

- You do not receive a phone call from someone who visited your website in two straight weeks.

- You own an ecommerce website and you do not make sales in straight 1 week.

Please if these questions are applicable to you, let us know here and if possible drop your website link so i can take a look. I like getting new website design jobs. But a situation whereby clients dont get value from their websites after spending that 50k or 100k, it spreads a negative light on owning a business website. But if your website is giving you good returns then business will be good for me (us).

Also, i am thinking of starting a new business/project on this. Helping people find value in their business websites. It is a win win situation.

What is your opinion?

hello is there a way I can move my subscriber from aweber to mailchimp .. am paying 6500 monthly and I have less than 1000 subscribers.. I think am being overcharged
Yes you can. Aweber is one of the most expensive, so many people like it but i dislike it. All you have to do is export your contacts, then in mailchimp, import them. But you will have to do a double opt-in. That is, sending them a re-confirmation link. I believe you can also import them directly from aweber in your mailchimp account. Mailchimp has good documentation so if you have any issues, just Google for a solution. You will not get support from them because you are on a free plan.
BusinessRe: 5 Star Global - My Company Start-up Diary by databoy247(op): 1:16pm On Aug 22, 2015
hello folks...

It has been a while. I am glad to announce that it has been one year now since this journey started and i thank God for his Grace, strength and provisions. I also want to thank you all for your support and follow up.

The year will officially end next month (September) and i will surely mark it. I may not organize an end of year party, but i will sure do something.

Over the course of the year, i experienced a lot of things, being in the low and in the high. Got financially stranded, made some money, made lots of mistakes, had quarrels, ended professional relationships, made new friends, etc.

Over the year, my company was able to complete some minor jobs; supply this and that, install this and that, provide this and that service from other organizations. Overly, the projects put together was a net worth of almost 2 million naira.

This was not my target, but i see it as a beautiful start. And am grateful to God for it. Truthfully, i made some mistakes.

LOW POINTS (MISTAKES)
First, one of my mistakes was mismanagement of funds. This is not one of my strong attributes and i really have to do something about it. I have no idea how to go about this but i believe i will learn with time. Though i really want to employ an accountant but i think the company has not grown up to that level yet.

I was also distracted by some other things. Initially, i emphasized that if you are starting up, it is good to get your company busy with other things to keep income flowing so in case the contract award letter hasn't come, you wont liquidate. Well, i got involved in other things that were supposed to generate income for my organization, but i went in too deep and ended up distracted from my initial focus. I got my fingers burnt, I learnt my lessons and thank God am back on track.

I guess my low turnout was as a result of this distraction.

We also did some jobs to which payment has not come till this day, more recently, was the job we did for one of the Local Government Office here in Delta State.

HIGH POINTS
Currently, my company have 2 permanent staff (secretary, administrative/business development officer), I also have one part time consultant working with my organization. he is an expert in contract procedures and he is based in Port Harcourt.

We have also sealed a partnership agreement with an ICT company in New York, United States and i hope the partnership brings good tidings.

We are on the verge of getting an award letter signed by Delta State Government on a job that will last the next four years (and hopefully extended in the next tenure). We've scaled through the first stage, and we are now in the second stage which is the crucial one. The third stage is not rocket science.

NEXT YEAR PROJECTIONS
- Hopefully, it is my dream and target for the firm to get registered with a variety of multinationals including SPDC, NDDC, Agip, Sterling Global and Federal University of Petroleum Resources.

- Get an accountant to handle our finances.

- Get an official vehicle for the firm.

And by his Grace, i hope our annual turnover next year will be in the excess of 10 million naira. I am not in a hurry, I want to grow gradually, understanding the system and also try not to be greedy chasing money i know i can never get (for the now). Let us be realistic, My firm is just starting, so I am not expected to start chasing contracts worth 50 million or 100 million naira. If i do this, i am just deceiving myself.

If what i can get from a deal is 200k, good. If what i can get is 800k, good, i will go for it. Gradually, i will grow.

I will be back to drop more updates. cool

Lets move to whatsapp nah! What's d ban ban ban abt?

Free services are always limited. For example there may be a limit on the number of subscribers you might have (like saying you cannot have more than 500 subscribers in your list), then some features will not be there like follow up email automation. That is, you will not be able to prepare follow up emails and program them to deliver on scheduled dates and time. Then some free services will put adverts in your emails.

The limitations are much. But it is advisable to make use of free a free service, then when you have grown you can then migrate to a paid service. The best free service provider i can recommend is mailchimp. With mailchimp, you can send 12,000 emails to 2,000 subscribers for free. And billing starts from $10 monthly (about N2,300).

With this, you can be sure your business has started earning so you will be comfortable paying the monthly subscription.

How can you setup an effective email subscription system?

First, you choose a good bulk email service provider. Everybody's got the one they are most comfortable with. It might be that their pricing is cheap and fair, or that they have a cool free plan, or their tools are easy to use and meet your needs. Examples of globally recognized providers are;

Aweber
Mailchimp
iContact
Instant Contact
InfusionSoft
GetResponse
Madmimi
MailiGen
Etc

As for me, I use mailchimp. It is easy to work with and has a lot of other reasons appealing to me.

The best way to get new subscribers (with permission) is by setting up an opt-in system from inside the provider website. After this is done you will have a small form which you can embed in your website or share a link.

So, when people fill the form (usually just name and email address), they receive a confirmation link in their email box. That is the permission. Clicking on that confirmation link means to say "Please send me emails, I am looking forward to your mails".

But the question is WHY DO I SIGN UP AS A SUBSCRIBER WITH YOU? In order words what do you have to offer that i am eager to get? Why do I allow you start bombing my mail box with useless adverts?

All these are questions your potential subscribers will ask. And if you can answer them you have yourself some new subscribers.

NOTE: If you want people to sign up and opt-in to your email list willingly, you have to give them a reason to. First, offer something for free that is worth some money (and everyone should know that it is really worth some money).

Secondly, You dont say, "sign up on my mailing list so i can give you promotions in my business" and then start bombarding them with adverts OR asking people to sign up because you want to send out hundreds of emails concerning some boring eBooks you are selling.

GIVE VALUE.

If they are signing up, you better make them believe you are giving some sound information that cant be seen else where.

E.g.

You can ask them to sign up so they can start receiving job vacancies that are rarely published - insider vacancies. This is hot.

You can also ask them to sign up because you will be sending them unbelievable deals you can find around. Etc

The key is to let them know that you are ready to do the research, gather the facts, go the extra mile to obtain data, and deliver it to them while they sit, relax and expect mails from you everyday.

Let them know you are ready to do the hard work so they can get the results of your hard work for FREE.

This is VALUE.

People pay for value, but when you let them know you are willing to give them value for free, they will sign up.

I dey come make i go chop. tongue

Besides it is too cheap. So i doubt its authenticity
BusinessRe: Learn Email Marketing (for Businesses) - A Free Nairaland Training. by databoy247(op): 9:27am On Aug 19, 2015
Back in the day when email was invented, it immediately solved the problem of communication via writing of letters. Back then if you wanted to communicate with someone in Lagos, you would have to send a letter from Benin to Lagos, since landline was more of a communication tool for the well-to-do.

With email, it became easier to communicate with anybody anywhere in the world....and it is way cheaper too.

Then comes the advent of Blackberry and Android phones, email users increased because without an email address, you wont be able to make use of these devices. Virtually 70% (over 72 million Nigerians) of Nigerians make use of an email address...what better way to do business communications?

Email marketing is an art of promoting your business, increasing your sales via an efficient email system. But it is way easy to gather as many email addresses as you can online, and start sending messages to people. WRONG!

They are called un-solicited emails and in developed country, you can be sued for that. You dont force a message down the throat of someone. This is because it is very very effective to call someone on phone and say; 'Hi, i will be coming to your office later by 12 noon to discuss something with you", and when you get there you will be listened to. Rather than show up unannounced...someone will just call security for you.

To start an email marketing campaign, always start with permission.
People open email from people they know, and they delete or mark as spam email from people they don’t recognize. This is why it’s critical that you always ask for permission before adding a new contact to your email list. Permission-based email marketing is the best route to developing long-lasting customer relationships that drive repeat sales and valuable word-of-mouth for your business. And this will keep you from going to court.....trust me. (There are some people here in this NL who are really guilty of this...e.g the guy that calls himself tectono ventures.....please stop sending me unsolicited emails...I have the right to sue you for privacy infringement) angry angry

Back to business, grin. When someone joins your email list, they are opting-in to learn more about your business. Some of these people will be completely new to your business and want to learn more about what you have to offer. For new customers, you could send emails with additional information about your business and the different products and services you have to offer.

But do you know it is possible to have an email list of 1000 subscribers and when you send out a message, less than 10 will actually read what you have sent out?

In email marketing, it is assumed that a 20% open rate (200 out of 1000 reading your email) is a success. As for me, sometimes i enjoy a 41% open rate. How did i manage to achieve this?

How do you get people to join your email list? How can you get new subscribers? There is nothing as cool as someone saying "hey, i want to join your list because i want to get emails from you".

Watch out for my next post. I am a very busy person, so you will have to develop some form of patience with me. cool

You have an existing business, or are about to start a business and you really have some passion for what you do with a serious intent of expanding, then there are a whole lot involved, which you can do to become successful. Every new or small business must do promotions do get new customers, make more sales, and of course get more future leads.

One sure way to promote and grow your business is with email marketing. I can bet my GTBank account that 92% of business owners here on Nairaland DO NOT use email marketing, and i also know that they do not also believe in it.

Over time, so many Akin Alabi wanna-bes have successfully spread the concept and ideology that email marketing is tied to information marketing business (the business of selling eBooks).

In this thread, I am going to teach you everything i Know about email marketing and how it can be used to run a small business, grow your business and make more money. I am not acclaiming to being a guru, but i sure know a thing or two.

It is a marketing tool (one of the cheapest you will ever find) and if you do not know, it can be used in every aspect or category of business. Be it real estate, sales, ICT, information marketing, beauty and make up business, etc.

What this course will teach you;

Everything you need to know about email marketing and why it is very important.

Recommended Email Clients (or emailing system)

How to get new and fresh opt-in email subscribers everyday.

How to send the right type of emails to your subscribers.

How not to spam people in the name of email marketing

How to "increase your sales, and earn more money" using email marketing.

Etc...

Everyone here wishes to get some spare 10k or 20k to do some NL adverts but after one week and your ads stops running, what next?

When i pay for NL ads, it runs for one week and stops. I might not make a dime during the advert duration, but i WILL surely get some new email subscribers which to me are way more valuable.

If you know how to do it right, you will surely make money and increase your business and let me re-emphasize, it is not meant for just information marketing business (selling of eBooks), it is used for virtually ANY kind of business.

Have you ever heard of the term "The money is in the list?". This is true, and i will prove it.

If you are interested in learning this unique and simple marketing tool to increase your sales, build your business and expand your network, then sit tight because i will be revealing alot here....for FREE. cool

Those who know me here, knows I don't joke around. Your interests will motivate me to continue.

Romance10 Things Women Really Want. by databoy247(op): 5:11pm On Aug 16, 2015
There is the general conception that lots of woman now indulge in the "hard-to-get" game and even now, they do it excessively. When you approach a woman and she is not even interested in sharing her contact phone number or perhaps she is a friend or colleague but you keep wondering why she bluffs your advances? Maybe you don't really understand women. Below are some 10 things women want (among the numerous list) which can improve your chances of getting hooked up;

Economic dependence.
This isn't a good feeling for either party in a relationship. But it's usually even harder when it's the guy who's lacking in that area. This doesn't mean you need to have all the money in the world but it does mean you need to be able to contribute equally. Every woman wants a guy who is economically independent.....and not a mummy's boy.

Self groomed men
Most women appreciate a little bit of grooming and personal care. That said, women may be more forgiving when it comes to keeping in shape, but they definitely don't like men who refuse to pay attention to his personal hygiene. Shave that bushy pubic hair, trim your beards, wear clean inner wears & boxers, keep your nails clean. Whether you like it or not, women gets attracted to clean guys.

Men with a positive attitude
People – not just women – are immediately attracted to those with a positive outlook on life. Subconsciously we are all looking to be inspired and uplifted by a partner. When 'How's your day going?' they reply 'Fantastic!' Sounds simple but it works wonders.

Attentiveness
Relationship satisfaction has a lot to do with the way partners are able to read and empathize with each other's emotions. Knowing when to talk and when to listen is crucial. Recognizing when she wants you to solve a problem and when she wants you to agree with her about her problem and allow her to wallow is very important. Look at her when she is complaining to you, don't focus on Channels tv news otherwise she will feel you are not giving her listening ears.

Sociability
You might be really good at hanging out with your own friends. Most of us are. Who else is going to laugh at our worst jokes? It's the comfort zone. But a woman will always appreciate a man who steps out of that zone and into different social arenas. There is a general saying that that it's not just social flexibility but social dominance and courageousness in social situations that turns the ladies on.

Intelligence
Women naturally gravitate towards people on similar wavelength, IQ wise. A woman will look for intellectual engagement that will parallel her own but also give light to areas of knowledge she might not otherwise have known about. Simply put, learning from your partner is a wonderful way to keep the flame alive in the long term.

Passionate
This doesn't mean just bedroom, it means passion infused into every aspect of life. Women likes men who are passionate in what they do. A man who gets excited by every new task or work he finds himself. Sharing a ride with someone who really takes the bull by the horns and makes the most out of every experience. There is nothing sexier than a man who is excited about life.

Sense of humor.
Laughing improves mood and health in general. So it makes sense when a woman gets attached to you just because you make her laugh. In short, the more you make her smile and laugh, the more she looks forward to your messages on whatsapp, BBM or facebook. And when if it keeps on like this, you are likely to get hooked.

Ambition
Women are attracted to men who strive to be the best they can be. Men who set themselves clear goals and actively pursue them possess an appealing strength of character. This is the type of man a woman will feel safe depending on – someone who knows what he wants and can make it happen.

Confidence
A man who is not confident in himself cannot sell himself. Just like a marketer, what makes him sell is his self confidence. There is nothing more enticing than a man who walks up to you with full confidence. Natural curiosity will take place, the woman will want to know him more....what gives him such confidence? And with the snap of a finger, you have agreed to a date.
http://lovelineng.com/index.php/2015/08/16/552/

Ladies, feel free to add yours...what are those things you like and wish men knew about?

I have just bought a domain name from DomainKing. And i hope they are here to stay. There is nothing as annoying as a domain seller "dying" off with your domain stuck with them. Everyone takes risks and i believe doing business with you guys is definitely worth it. Definitely, i have my doubts but am juts giving a try.

My advice to you guys;
Get a dedicated phone line for Nigerians. You are operating in Nigeria, then get a phone line for us here to call when we ant to reach you by phone. Email support only does not really tickle our fancy. Get a line and route it so it can function properly in your location. Or better still, rent an office space (attaching your company to an existing company in Nigeria) and make use of their address, etc. It will improve your credibility.

I like Hargurnaz Singh, yes he is the owner of DomainKing. He is an entrepreneur to the core, just 29 years old and already running his business in South Africa, Nigeria, India, Philippines, and Uganda. Becoming successful is all about determination. Sorry Mr Hargurnaz, i like to know who am dealing with. Am impressed by your business prowess. cool

But i hope you have come to stay.
