I usually don't like commenting on things like this, but from what i have seen so far, i have no option than to comment. ![]() A lot of you out there are either graduates or undergrads looking or should i say desperately searching for jobs. You don't even have to wits to start something, all you do is announce your "idea" which unfortunately lacks funding. Someone posts a job offer, if you are not interested in the job, what stops you from moving on to other threads or better still move on to jobberman website in search for Chevron vacancy? Must you always trash someone else's efforts?? And what if it is GNLD? Are there no people working with the same gnld and making money? Feeding themselves? The ones that rant here are those that cannot even afford to buy garri but depend on their parents, uncles and aunties for things as small as recharge cards. You spend you energy talking people down and yet those people you talk down are busy making money, becoming employers of labor. What on earth is wrong with 20k salary?? If you are looking for a job that will pay you 500k per month, then good luck with your search. But believe me when you hear some people have been waiting for 10 years after graduation without a job, it is really true. And if you are not careful, you might end up like one (am not praying this for you though). If you don't have the patience and courage to start from scratch, then you are on a long thing. The OP has explained that it is an IT company, what else do you want him to tell you? Do you want him to "beg" you to do the job? I did a few research and it turned out that they are all about mobile apps distribution. And for your information these guys build wordpress themes to sell. And whether you like it or not, they are making their money while you are there ranting and saying trash. Below is a screenshot of one of their wordpress theme on sale in themeforest. It is being sold for $48 and over 300 copies have been sold! From raw estimates, that should translate to over N2,800,000 (over 2 million naira). And that is for just ONE theme. Because i believe they have close to 10 on sales. You are looking at a small tech business with over 10 million naira in sales offering you a job and you are ranting "gnld". The fact that they don't crave cheap publicity here in nairaland does not mean you know them enough to rate and judge them. So, if you are interested in working, do the needful. If you are not, please move on to other threads. The OP has the right to say or post whatever he wants. PS: I am in no way affiliated to the OP or his company, i am just a pissed off nairalander angry with the so-called job seekers criticizing other people's efforts. Adieu.

A neighbour of mine just arrived from the market and showed me what a market woman used in packing the items she purchased. Very inspiring, even market women now understand that package cannot be over emphasized ![]()

I am currently hosting most of my websites on whogohost, and to be frank, they have the best customer service in the country in terms of webhosting (my perspective). Am not trying to deface them, but i am trying to seek public opinion. Because perhaps, i can be wrong in my thoughts. Recentlly, i got an automated email from them that one of my websites is have a disc space overload. So, I checked and it is true. But i also noticed that it is happening to some other hosting accounts. So, i contacted them as usual to ascertain how that came about and i was told i should delete some files which are filling up my disc space. But the problems are: - None of the website files are up to 100MB. I sincerely don't think any website is up to that size (the files) except probably a hosted software application. - What i see in one account is 935MB disc space used, another says 657MB disc space used, etc I have even deleted ALL messages in my webmail and still the problem persists. Now, they kept insisting that i delete some files to free up the disc space OR I upgrade my account to get more disc space. Which files do i delete? Because what i can see there are just my website files which are not up to 100MB. Secondly, is there something about disc space usage i don't understand? Do website visitors consume disc space? Cos the last time i checked, it is supposed to be the bandwidth that gets eaten up if there is high traffic. Is this an automated system put in place by the webhost to automatically fill up my disc space and prompt me (and other customers) to updage and pay more money?? Please someone should enlighten me because i am somewhat confused. I am still a learner.

Getting contracts even when there are no tender requests. Lets talk about how to get projects even when there are no tender requests. My focus here is on the government. It is very possible to get government projects without following the rigorous process ot packaging bid documents and meeting all sorts of criteria. But there is a price you have to pay. And that is what we know as PR or Lobbying. In a simple form, you have to "get the ground wet" for as long as possible. And whom are you connecting? government aids, personal assistants, special advisers to specific office holders that you know can get things done for you. This method means you have to make use of OTN (Other Peoples Network), and if you have been following from the first thread you will understand what this means. This is the method you have to use if you have no direct connections to people in the government. Like the story of my friend who got a contract which ran for four years, this story will be the base of this writeup. There are lessons to be learnt here. He got a contract to evacuate scrap, burnt, accidented vehicles (including heavy duty vehicles) from all the highways in Delta State. This contract has been running for the past four years now. He has made a lot of money and he is expanding his horizon to Edo state. How did this happen? How did the government award him a contract when there was no official tender request published? How did he achieve this without packaging a bid document? We have partnered up (me and my friend) to pursue a new contract in the domain of the Ministry of Transport. We are using same principles, same method and same approach. And guess what? In no distant time, we will be awarded a new contract. This is even taking place when a new government is in place, and remember when a new government is in place it is very difficult to get a new contract because there are lots to settle (from the old government) and they just have to get settled in the new office before they start talking about the nitty-gritty of contract awards. But this has not limited us. Stay tuned for the next post for more details and explore our new methods. ======================================================================================== I think you might be interested in this https://www.nairaland.com/2496519/national-corporate-makeover-webinar-contractors |

Happy Sunday folks |
Multinational companies, National agencies, State Governments, Federal Government Establishments, Construction companies, private parastatals have been publishing both major and minor contracts daily for some time now. Now you can view these publications and send in your application where necessary. BUT a lot of contractors don't get awarded a single contract (major or minor) and let me disappoint you here, it is not because you do not have connections. It is because you do not meet the prerequisite requirements, you cannot put together a professional bid document, and you cannot prepare complex budgets and BoQs. We are organizing a live webinar for Nigerian contractors on how to prepare a winning bid document on the 4th of September 2015. It is a national event that will feature astute professionals leading the trend, people who have worked with the federal government and have left profound track record in the private sector. Are you are a contractor and you have not been awarded the smallest contracts in the past 2 years? Have you just registered your company but don't know how to proceed? Are you in the game but don't know how to prepare bid documents (and the other complex stuff)? Then why not participate in this event and learn those things you do not know? We need beta testers, KINDLY CLICK HERE TO REGISTER AND EXPLORE THE NEW PLATFORM Hello folks, Late last year, i started a journey and decided to go corporate. Next month will make it 12 months into this journey and i can say it has been a thrill ride so far. I started with the main focus of becoming a contractor, chasing what i can and leaving out what i cannot get. Yeah, i know it's a short time frame, but i can guaranty you, it's fun And before you begin to ask how come i have all these knowledge when i am not up to one year in the industry, well, all i can say is.....na GodWin.So, I created a thread here on NL for contractors where we share ideas, knowledge and information. So far, the thread was so helpful. Along the way of my own personal journey down this path, i encountered alot of scenarios, challenges, good fortunes, mishaps, and of course successes. From all these, i have been able to garner some new experiences and lessons which i believe some of you might find resourceful in this second thread. Special thanks to all those who made the previous thread entertaining, enlightening, and helpful (scantee, phemmy26, emmadejust, etc), you guys are wonderful. You are most welcome in this new thread. Thanks for taking out time from your busy schedules to help out with information. The first thread was all about introduction to concepts, basic explanations, and information every new contractor needs. So, i think this new thread should be more practical. I will do my best to post contract opportunities (when necessary), and talk about more complex issues surrounding the world of a contracting firm. If you have information on any opportunity you come across, please help us by posting it here also, let us all grow together. My first write-up will be on how to chase and get a contract even when there are no tender requests. I will do my best to throw some light on this issue (to the best of my knowledge). Another issue i feel is worth talking about is lobbying/PR. If you have been in the game for long, please come in and teach us a thing or two here. Please no thread derailers, and i hope you gain more and increase your hustle as you be a part of this. In case you missed out on the first thread, you can find it here: https://www.nairaland.com/2063427/nairaland-contractors-lounge So, let the games begin ![]()

Please help me check if you browser can open www.fredydeals.com.ng This is not a ploy to get traffic as the website is still in the making. I just need to confirm if your browser can open the website. Thanks. |
Yeah this makes sense. Just like i said earlier, what is business without risk? So if i risk justmy time (and not my money), it aint too bad. |
thewebcraft:I think i might look into this option. Purchase your domain name/hosting yourself and i do the design and setup. I can afford to risk my time but i dont think i would love to continue risking my money. |
I and my team have been working super hard to create lasting impression while making clients happy has been our number one priority. Alot of people have been defrauded online by scrupulous fellows claiming to be able to deliver a service or sell a product. This has obviously stamped a boldly spelled caution on the minds of potential clients and customers. I feel for them. So, we came up with a model of payment on delivery. This means i spend my money to setup your website for you (and other services), then you pay when it is ready and you can see it live. I came up with this because clients are scared to make payments because of the fear of being defrauded. Some people told me i am taking risks....but what is business without risk? To a large extent, i am credible here on nairaland and it takes hard work and legit business to attain such credibility. But just to make some doubting Thomases happy, i say "let me build the website at my own expenses without collecting a dime and when am done you pay up". Now, the issue is that these clients who are afraid of being defrauded have successfully turned the table around and now defraud us legit businessmen. The average domain name costs close to N3,000 (with the spike in exchange rates) not including web hosting which attracts its own fees. I spend my own money and push my team hard to get these websites up and ready, but after its ready, the so-called clients start generating a thousand excuses why they cant pay up. From am busy, to i don't have chance to go over to the bank, until they eventually stop picking your calls. After trying for days and weeks to get paid (unfruitful), the next option is to pull down the website. But even if that is done, you still lose money (the initial cost incurred setting it up). The questions are; Why order for a website when you know you don't have the money to pay? Why do you keep making excuses not to pay up when you know the developer is running a business? For heaven's sake i have people that work with me whom i must pay at the end of the month. I have an office that must be operational everyday. Real businessmen should know what it costs running an office on a daily basis. No matter how hard you try to please Nigerians, they always look for a way to disappoint you. They enjoy doing that. This wont deter me from working for the serious clients, but a stricter approach is needed. My payment on deliver model is good for serious people who want to do serious business BUT for those that keep wasting my time, resources and money, how do i detect them? What measures do i employ to ensure i get paid when i deliver a work? My brain is about to explode from thoughts. So, if you have any ideas, am all ears. Because am truly fed up. ![]() |
