The spaces are filling up quickly! One more slot to go. Those of you who have applied, please check your email for further instructions and information. |
winexviv:The reason why its this way is cos you are not under any pressure or deadlines hence, your lazy approach in setting up one. And like you rightly said, most jobs comes from referrals and before that is done, the would-be client must have seen one of your works so there is virtually no need to show him/her a portfolio. Referred clients rarely request for it. Me am guilty too.. ![]() |

***updates*** It's been a tough period for me, alot of movements and activities. Sometimes it's really difficult to carve out some time for myself, for those of you am disappointing and not having time for, am sorry but you will understand soon. But i still thank God for all he has done. The Wiko job is moving forward and i really cant wait to begin the major operations. We were told what we are currently doing is kinda like a preamble of the major job. That's that. We have also been working HARD on our new product; "Office Manager". And by the Grace of God, the product will be converted to a desktop software soonest which will be available in DVD packs and officially launched. The software will have some nice features including; 1. Containing over 200 office/business documents and templates which can be opened and the contents can be copied or printed. 2. Have a menu for unlimited file conversion (from word to pdf, from pdf to jpeg, etc). 3. It will also contain an automated scheduler. Like a simple calender, you input your schedules and when it is time, you will get a notification on your computer.....when people sit on their laptops, they tend to forget the next scheduled event or program. etc.... We have gotten a new hand in the office, a graduate working for us . Special thanks to one of our corporate clients, recruiting a graduate wouldn't have been possible without having a retainer contract with the client. If he is seeing this; thumbs up to you and i hope we are delivering ![]() If the progress continues at this rate, i think we will mover to a bigger office next year (God help us). My next point of call, is to hit corporate organizations HARD seeking contracts. If you are running a start-up, three things will make you get established; 1. Hustle contracts and jobs. 2. Have your own product(s) that you will flood into the market. 3. Render minor day to day services. Reasons: If the contracts you are hustling isn't coming you will still be busy pushing your products into the market, and you need income from rendering day to day services to keep you afloat and take care of overhead. Plus you also need the cash to aid your search for major contracts otherwise you will close shop. |
sherrif222:You dont register as a contractor with nipex, your registration with them means obtaining a permit to do business with oil companies. It's one of federal government's criteria to obtain contracts with oil companies. Nipex has a database where these companies put their available contracts for you to bid and apply for. |

chioma134:One of the bitter lessons i have learnt in life is this: When you ask people about a particular business, they ALWAYS discourage you and tell you why you wont make it in the business. But the sad truth is, if a business is killing you, the unconscious step people take is to quit the business before it buries you. Now these same peeps who keep discouraging you have NOT quit the business if its that bad. A man who sells phone accessories has told me he is not making money and the business is surviving by the Grace of God, but this same man just finished building his house and has moved in. He even has a car. So, dont follow discouragements, if your heart is in it, do it. If you are persistent and committed, you will make it. Focus on asking how the fix prices, and how they attend to customers....that's what you should learn and not if they make money from it. |

@ OP, nice move. People start businesses and fail for alot of reasons. But your interests to get back on and try something different sets you on an entrepreneurial pathway. Sometimes we lose focus and stop giving our business the right attention which eventually leads to the business's demise. Your decision to document your progress here will not only help you get some focus but ensure you dont fail. The reason is because alot of peeps here will be keeping tabs on your new business so failing isn't an option. If you do, you will not only disappoint yourself but hundreds of others watching. Do not think your consistent failures in your past endeavors does not not make you a business woman, you are one. All you need is the right push and like i always say, no better person to push you than yourself. And one of the fist ways to push your self is what you intend to do. I was once like you but i gave myself that powerful push, i decided it's either i get it right this time or .............. there was no second option. Now i work like i always do for people, i go the extra mile to get things done, i get tired but still push on, i dont feel like waking up in the morning but i fight to wake up cos i got stuff to do, i see the weather dark but i still move ahead and end up getting soaked in the rain, i get to the office and use up the last N400 i have to buy fuel because i have faith money is gonna come in before the close of business, i push myself so hard that i no longer watch movies, football, or ping. I am beginning to see the success and the doors are beginning to open. Things are starting to fall into the right places. The point of all these? Push yourself so hard that you wont even have the time to eat, do the right thing, ask the right questions, dont be greedy, don't let any day go to waste, always be on the move (come rain or sun), and you WILL excel in your next start-up. Good Luck. You can draw up some motivation from my start-up thread https://www.nairaland.com/1824660/5-star-global-company-start-up |
You became a web designer to create great web sites and applications. The plan didn’t include dealing with slow paying clients or spending countless hours trying to find work. It also didn’t include having to write proposals after you find prospective clients. Unfortunately, this is what you face every day. This is the reality of the situation. What can you do about it? If you plan on paying the bills, you can’t avoid these painful activities. What you’ll want to do is become more efficient at them. Outsource what you can and hack the rest. Here we’re going to take a look at hacking the proposal writing process. We want to invoke the 80/20 rule towards proposal writing. We want to expend 20% effort to get 80% of the results. Anatomy of a Proposal Before you can quickly and efficiently write amazing proposals, you’ll need some basic background on what a persuasive proposal is made of. I say a persuasive proposal because that’s exactly what your proposal has to be. It must convince the reader that you’re the absolutely best person for the job. A persuasive proposal has three parts: Problem statement Proposed solution Pricing information You’ll have everything you need as long as you include these essential elements. Problem statement An effective proposal describes a client’s needs and their drivers. To persuade someone, they must believe you understand their needs; describing the underlying reason, shows exactly that. The best way to show what this means is by example. Let’s use a website redesign project for this example. Say a client wants to have their website redesigned. You might see something like this on a mediocre proposal: ABC Company is looking to have their website redesigned to give them a fresh new look. The redesign should include a way for customers to contact the company and a way to find locations. … Why is this mediocre? There’s no problem statement here. Redesigning a website to obtain a “fresh new look” isn’t a problem statement. A persuasive proposal would sound something like this: ABC Company has lately seen a drastic increase in competition. These new competitors have modern looking websites that are starting to attract some of ABC Company’s long time customers. ABC Company needs to redesign their website with a fresh new look to ensure existing customers are kept, and new ones are converted. The redesign should include a way for customers to contact the company and a way to find locations. … See the difference? Keep in mind that most clients will not tell you this information; you’re going to have to dig. Keep asking why until you get to the business driver. Something is driving the project, and it sure as hell isn’t wanting a “fresh new look”. Proposed Solution Now that you’ve been armed with the knowledge of their motivation for the project, you’re ready to offer a solution. Yes, you’ll want to ensure you directly address their needs, but make sure your solution is business-centric. Mediocre solution: We recommend a complete redesign of the existing website. This would include a new updated logo, location search, contact form page, etc. So a good solution for the previous example might be: To effectively recapture the market from new competitors, the website design must implement a marketing strategy focused on this goal. This will start with a needs analysis session that will indentify the key elements of the website, different customer types, and all necessary calls to action. Needs analysis will be followed with a content plan focused on specific goals, and will move into the design phase which will include the following… Which one sounds more promising? This second one includes more work so it’s probably going to be more expensive, but it’ll still win the job. Pricing Information The last piece of a persuasive proposal is the pricing information. You want to make this information easy to digest, so keep it high level. From a typography point of view, it’s best to place it in a grid. This is usually known as the Fee Summary section. Depending on the length of the project you might want to tie payments to specific milestones. This would be included in a section called Fee Schedule. Basic Outline Below you’ll find a list of the three elements, followed by some common titles used for each section. Problem Statement — Client Needs, Client Goals, Client Objectives, Goals and Objectives Recommended Solution — Recommended Solution, Recommended Strategy Pricing information — Fee Summary, Fee Schedule, Project Pricing Repeatable Proposals Now that you have basic knowledge about the elements of a persuasive proposal, you can start to work on a process to put together proposals in no time. The best way, is to use proposal software because it takes care of a lot of the manual steps, but we’ll look at templates so you get a low-level understanding of how they should be put together. To get started you’ll want to create two templates in Microsoft Word. You’ll classify these templates by proposal size: large and small. This makes it easy to know when to use which proposal. A small project like a three page website will get a small proposal. That’s because you can get away with a simple estimate on these jobs. Pricing information isn’t enough, you want to include an element of persuasion. Small Proposal Outline Client Needs Recommended Solution Fee Summary Next Steps This would probably come out to a two page proposal. Notice that I included a section called Next Steps. It’s a smart idea to include a call to action here. This way, they know exactly what needs to be done to get the ball rolling on the project. Large Proposal Outline Goals and Objectives Recommended Solution Fee Summary Fee Schedule Estimated Project Schedule Next Steps Terms and Conditions The large one isn’t much bigger than the small one but it includes timeframe information which helps the client envision how your process is going to work. Finishing Touches Now that you have your two templates and their outline in place, it’s time to look at adding a little style to your proposal. Create an elegant design (easier said than done) and use it as a header and footer in your Word template. This should be kept to a minimum, you don’t want to overpower the content. It should be tasteful and only hint at your creative ability. Last, add some help text to your proposal outline. This text will remind you what to write in each of these sections. You can copy and paste some of the instructions in this article if you need to, just remember it’s a placeholder for the real content. What about paragraphs of text that can be included in every proposal? Don’t do it. Every project is different, any content that you can reuse like that is garbage in the eyes of of the client. Remember, they’re only concerned with their own project and how you might be able to help them. If you want to include a Company Information page or a Clients section, feel free to do so as long as it comes after the pricing information. We want to structure the information in the most persuasive manner possible, so keep things about yourself (or company) towards the bottom. Alternatively you can get a complete and colorful ready made template @ www.officemanager.com.ng |
A good sales proposal is not just your product or service, but how you convince your audience that your company is the one that can come up with a better solution. Additionally, the charts and graphs, you are going to include in your proposal, are of utmost importance to convey your message through the sales proposal. Moreover, they need to be properly colorful and properly indicated the suggestions, you are giving to your client. I am offering a complete well arranged business/sales proposal template for you to download for free. This offer will last for 24 hours only. So, if you need this, then click on the link below to download; http://officemanager.com.ng/free-templates/ Please do not drop your emails here, nobody will attend to them. |

Tired of dating someone who thinks fine dining means no more than getting a cloth napkin instead of a paper one and whose efforts to impress your parents culminate in wearing a clean shirt while speaking in full sentences? Maybe you should start looking to date an older man, because… 1. They’re Secure Unlike guys in their 20s, men in their 30s and above have an established sense of who they are in this world and what they’re doing with their lives. This makes them much more relaxed and less eager to impress (which is never an impressive quality) than their younger counterparts. 2. Money They tend to have more of it than the guys your own age. Go figure. 3. Chivalry As annoying as it can be to have some man hold the door open for you every time you enter a building, it’s a gesture of feminine appreciation that has more or less evaporated amongst the younger generation due to progressive ideologies (which, don’t get me wrong, are a good thing overall). 4. No Roommates It’s unlikely that your older man will share his home with a couple of unruly slobs he calls his best friends. 5. Hanging Out With Their Friends Is More Pleasant You have to do it a lot less frequently, as the older one gets, the less one spends on friend time. Also, it will take place in much more pleasant venues, like a nice restaurant instead of a filthy dive bar (but don’t completely forsake the filthy dive bars). 6. They’ve Had More Relationships To Learn From These guys know how to behave in a relationship because they’ve done it before with a variety of women, learning all the ups and downs through a variety of dating obstacles. 7. They Won’t Take You For Granted You’re young and beautiful, and he’s technically out of your league. 8. They’re Better At S.ex With more time to perfect their technique (and less sheer relief at the fact that they’re getting laid at all), these men know where to touch, and for how long. 9. They Get It Girls age at a rate much faster than their male counterparts. Things that men in their 20s can never understand, older men can articulate in one, wisdom-filled sentence. 10. Patience Understanding the meaning of delayed gratification comes with years of hard work to attain the position in life you’ve been after. Guys just coming out of academia or at their very first grown-up job may not get this (unless they’ve had a tough life, in which case they’re basically an “older man”). 11. Your Dates Younger men will take you to a low quality, over priced restaurant if they want to impress you. Older men will take you somewhere where food’s the main focus. Or maybe even to Europe. 12. They Know What They Like An admirable quality in anybody, this assures that when you’re with your older man, you will settle for nothing other than the best. 13. They’re Assertive And they’re not afraid to ask for the best if they don’t get it the first time. 14. They Command Respect They do this in a way that a fresh-faced 20-something cannot, since he’s too busy trying to look like an adult (in an ill-fitting suit) to properly act like one. 15. They Can Engage With Your Parents As long as such a man is not too old, parents will appreciate his ability to converse knowledgably on subject matter on which younger men lack understanding. They also may appreciate his stability. 16. Their Apartments Are Nicer Than Yours If you’re in someplace like NYC, you understand how big of a draw this is coming from your cramped, Bushwick abode. Also, this probably makes the guy more conveniently located to wherever you go for work/play. 17. They Can Provide Perspective When you think you’ve got serious problems with pulling your life together, the older man is there to tell you not to worry, it takes lots of time and effort to succeed. You’re young and doing what you can for the time being. What a relief. |

HighwayTech:First things first, it's not just getting contacts, it's about keeping contacts. Most of the contacts i get are a result of my journey as a web developer. I meet alot of people from everywhere, the ones i like i keep close to me, the ones i dislike i discard. I always go along with the saying that "anything worth doing is worth doing well", so no matter how small and "cheap" the job is, i always do it to near perfection and because of that the clients always call me for more jobs. The person that helped me land the Wiko contract was someone i actually met here on nairaland who requested for a web developer to help do a small job. Now, the job was for 5k and i did it perfectly and he paid me 8k. I treated him like one of my high paying clients....Now, i have been working for him now for over a year and we haven't even set eyes on each other not even once! I have lots of clients like that. He is based in Lagos and when he got access to the Wiko thing, and they told him they needed someone in Delta State, he was quick to recommend me because of our past relationship. So as an entrepreneur you are on a journey, and on that journey you will meet people. Learn to see the ones with future potential and stay close to them. Even if they give you a job and they wont pay the big bucks, still hold on to them because if you cant eat from them you will definitely eat from someone close to them. You have to be able to discern good businessmen from the lot. That's how you build contacts: recommendation and references. If you are good to me, i will definitely recommend your service. Simple strategy. As for the Canadian thing, i was able to achieve that because i am a quick thinker. As an entrepreneur, what makes you climb high is your ability to think outside the box. I applied for the program, i was granted admission, BUT i didn't have money to travel. Now because of the back and forth conversation with the school i already have a rapport which i quickly utilized. Most times your clients may not know it all, but if you think quickly you can recommend solutions that will "wow" them and that might just be your pivot to excellence. |
hahahahaha...........that's the idea....meaningless... ![]() |
