It is not known for sure as at the time of writing what prompted the barring, but it may be connected to an inquiry by the UK Charitable Commission, which, according to Daily Mail and Guardian, accused Oyedepo’s Winners Chapel UK branch of ‘cynically exploiting supporters’. The Daily Mail report revealed that Oyedepo’s Church ‘received £16.7 million in donations from followers who were told that God would give them riches in return’ and that ‘Followers are ferried in double-decker shuttle buses to the church, handed slips inviting them to make debit card payments, and are even told obeying the ministry’s teachings will make them immune from illness’. Other updates: I have been doing some small work on my office the past few days. A carpenter started working there yesterday (all these guys dey expensive oh kai), by tomorrow he will start building a visitors/ waiting chairs. I would have gone for something imported but i couldnt find the concept i had in my mind so i guess i just have to build it. And also i am looking for some kind of wall papers (i cant seem to find it around here).....The type that has brown bricks designs. I need it so badly! They say packaging is everything. I might not have much to spend but the little i have, i will try to make the place look presentable. Even if Onyibo man enter inside, he go gladly give me the contract ![]() Next week budget: Buying a generator. (pheeeeeew). Biko, i need like 50k loan oh!!! Kind hearted Nigerians make una come to my aid. If you can donate it (or some of it) as a sign of encouragement, me i will appreciate it oh. But if you can lend it to me, i will re-pay you back (the whole office thing has drained me badly). I really need money now cos whether the devil (or my haters) likes it or not, the office must become fully operational next month! Will update with photos soon. ![]() |
Infomizer: Keep up the good work bro...Don't fail to network. It is friggin important. Always have something to offer. That way, no one will look down on you, and that, my friend is very important in this hustle. Thanks my friend, i wont forget that. I have been invited to join Rotary club of Warri and am thinking of taking up that offer if not for anything, but for the purpose of networking. etcme: Sincerely speaking you have revived my spirit of enterprenuership. You have a good website.Website design is something you can learn forever. And that's the truth. BUT just like the ocean, it's very vast and wide hence you can as well pick an aspect of it and learn it properly in no distant time. While you build a professional skill around one area, you can as well learn other areas on your free time. It's an added advantage to know a bit of so many of them. Personally, i am not an expert in everything pertaining to web development but i can beat my chest that i am an authority in a few areas especially wordpress. With this program called Wordpress, you can build any kind of website that comes to your imagination. All you have to do is master it properly, then learn some html, php, and css. If not everything, at least the basics. The reason is because designing a good website with Wordpress needs alot of tweaking and you need the other knowledge highlighted earlier to be able to tweak very well. In all, its a good handwork just like any handwork out there. The only difference about it (which is cool) is that you can work and at the same time watch good movies and still earn some good money. Unlike some other handwork that requires you to work under the sun. If you have some interest in it, i will advise you to go for it cos you never can tell how it's gonna be like after graduation. But at least you are going to be confident that you can earn an income after graduation. And the truth is that if you can operate the computer and browse the internet, you can start designing cool websites with wordpress in less than two months. It's not as hard as people think. Some months ago, i wrote an ebook on how to build websites using wordpress technology. Its a step by step guide with pics, instructions, etc. there are also steps on how to get constant website design jobs. The whole book is a compendium of every thing i know about website design and how i do my marketing to get steady jobs. It's listed on sale at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/The-Webex-professional-wordpress-technology-ebook/dp/B00J6TLQDQ/ref=sr_1_wsc1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1408019327&sr=1-1-wordsplitter&keywords=Nwaka+Osakwuni And it's also being sold locally here. You can get a copy of it anytime (just make a request). Cheers. |
Hehehe, i got a call from one of them 2 days back, he said; fraudstar: "Hello?? Nwaka how far na?? its me Engineer." Me: "I dont understand...who are you? Which Engineer?" fraudstar: "Dont you remember me again? It's Engr Emmanuel that works in NNPC. Remember we talked about website design job then but i was transferred to Port harcourt so i have been trying to reach you but the network has been bad". Me don talk to many people about website design, so i just feel say na one of my old proposed clients. Me: "Ok, so whats up na" fraudstar: "the thing is there is a job for you now, that is what i have been trying to reach you, i will give you a number so you can call me back on that number and get a pen and paper so i will explain the job details for you". Me: "Okay, i dont have recharge card now oh, let me go and buy so i can call you back" ========================================================================================== I ended the call and continued watching my movie "Half of a Yellow Sun". After 30mins, i sent the guy a text and warned him never to call my line again. Case closed. The truth is that 1. I dont know any Engineers that works in NNPC, let alone PH someone who was transferred to PH. 2. You work in NNPC (the highest paying oil company in 9ja) and you cant even afford to buy recharge card, asking me to call you back. 3. I have been in the streets for so long that i can smell scam a mile away ![]() From the beginning i knew it was them so i just played along till i ended the call. But i really dont know how they do so much research about you which may really convince you they really know you. Scam has taken a more rugged form...na wah oh! |
cynim: I run a fashion outfit CYNIM which designs, and produce male and female custom shirts.Just keep being determined and you will become established. I am also in the same journey. I dont know about Lagos, but i believe it will be difficult renting a place and paying monthly. My advice is thus; Since its difficult keeping tailors for now, and if you cant sew, then why not take the jobs to them. There should be some good ones who will likely reason with you and not charge you exorbitantly. Secondly, you can locate an existing shop that sells something else (and the shop is kinda scanty), and the shop should be spacious. Discuss with the owner so you can share with him/her. Put one or two sewing machines there and maybe your workers wont complain of distance anymore. This is the only option which you can pay monthly, at least till you get enough money to rent your own. |
I just saw some perfect examples with some bulk sms websites and laugh wan kill me... ![]() |
There are no enough jobs in the country to cater for new graduates and even the unfortunate ones who cant even justify attending the four walls of school (calling themselves graduates searching for jobs). Because of this situation, almost everyone is wanting to become an entrepreneur. It's a good thing as it's advised to always try to create opportunities for yourself when there are non. WHY YOU CANT EVEN SUCCEED AS AN ENTREPRENEUR! ![]() I see ALOT of people who have this attitude of wanting to become a CEO overnight! Nobody wants to answer the title of "freelancer" anymore. You are running a small business? Fine! But must you ALWAYS address yourself as CEO?? You see a young man from his bedroom in his father's house answering CEO!! Some of them talk to you or post their unattractive ads saying "We" can do this, "We" can do that....Or they will say; "Send a mail to us". For heaven's sake, it's just you in your bedroom...there is no "US". And do you keep wondering why you are not making it especially online?? Because the more you try to claim what you are not, the more you sound foolish, uneducated, inexperienced and fraudulent. Most of them use the words "Our Office", when they cant even pay for a caravan space. They can't even afford a decent domain name (N1,700)!! They keep using and still claim to be a CEO. You DONT jump from a job seeker 2 weeks ago, to becoming a CEO tomorrow. In the corporate world there is something called "Due Process". Everything in life is in stages. Do you even know what it means to be a CEO?? This is so ridiculous and funny! MY ADVICE If you are good in something, place adverts stating it's you...the freelance professional that is offering the service, not some ghost company CEO that is not even registered with CAC. People are ready to pay you for a service than pay an invisible "US". If you think claiming all sorts of title will make people patronize you, then you have a long way to go. NOBODY will patronize you until you start being original. When the time comes to become a CEO, it will surely come. Don't jump into it when you are not ready. I will leave you with an example; I culled this from the website of a freelance website developer in Canada. See how he used words that announces his "person", words like "i" and "my".....and he has gotten some good contracts. He didn't claim to be a CEO. Now tell me, if you were looking for a developer, would you give him the job? or will you give it to a wannabe CEO who does not even know what the term means? ........My background and strength is in programming. This allows me to create sites with a high level of functionality. And thanks to JavaScript libraries such as jQuery and faster JavaScript rendering engines, browsers are now becoming viable development platforms capable of replacing traditional desktop applications. This allows you to provide for your users a more rich and compelling user experience. So whether you need a simple 5 page website or an online store with a backend content management system, I can provide you with a solution to reach your goals. The website is http://www.fullfrontalmedia.ca/ You can go through it and learn how to be yourself as an upcoming entrepreneur and STOP claiming what you are not. Do this and see the changes that will follow. Cheers. ![]() |
Beautifulme4me: alright. thank u. actually i was in cac office yesterday to make inquires. from the little information i got, it's like it's going to be difficult for me to do it on my own. there were so many things i don't understand. such as common seal, how to write a good constitution,a well prepare minutes and all that. a lawyer i met advice me to give it to a lawyer to handle everything that's cumbersome.Go back to the office, take one of them outside and tell him or her you want to register a company. If he says its gonna cost you 50k, give him 55k. If it will cost 60k, give him 60k. After the name search, go back there sign the relevant documents and leave. You will be called to come pick up your certificate and other documents after some weeks. Shikina Stop acting as if you are not a Nigerian. I did one for a friend last month and what he paid was 60k. He does not know jack about writing a constitution. But its your choice sha.... |
Jarus: My apologies for not formally closing out the transaction, even when I got disinterested.Apologies accepted. Actually, competition is allowed and am not scared of it. Let me buttress my point as to why i was pissed. Example; A poor farmer discovers that dried pawpaw seeds after blending with salt is a perfect cure for malaria. But he does not have money to buy plenty of pawpaw nor does he have money for the processing, not to talk about distribution. So he announces that he wants partnership or financial aid. But after going to a particular city screaming so loudly, no one came up. One week later, in the very city he went to seek for partnership, he saw new billboards and adverts of someone selling the same formula he literally begged for funding. What do you expect the poor farmer to do? Now that isn't competition!! Its an act of pilferage! |
Brandnew2: Don't mean to spoil your business but hand sanitizers sell for less then 100 bucks in Ghana. You aren't spoiling anything bro..just that the level of panic in Nigeria is way worse than Ghana. And i think that alone drives up the price. udemzyudex: LOL....Gbam!! ![]() |
Simpsonrocket: upload the ads here i will assist you. Thanks sir, its attached.

Beautifulme4me: i know. that's why am pleading for a free lawyer. thank u sirYou dont understand, the original fees collected by CAC is more than 50k before you now talk of lawyers fees. Walk to any CAC office near you and do it yourself. You dont need a lawyer, Nigerians have been deceived for too long. What you will pay in CAC is around 55k or 60k for everything. Like i said, you dont need a lawyer. If you were in Delta State, i would have directed you to my relative that works there to help you. But its a simple and straight forward process which you can do yourself. Cheers.n |
Nairalandi: ok naaYes oh |
Beautifulme4me: i have 50k for this registration. pls helpIf you are thinking of CAC registration, that 50k wont do it. Lawyer or not. |
ghettodreamz: Bro, with all your responses to each comments so far, I can easily deduce that you are the type that talk too much, and by so doing inadvertently divulge unnecessary information to strangers to your disadvantage. Responding to every comments here with details is doing more harm to your already stolen idea or concept like you had alleged. Thanks and lips sealed!! ![]() |
A carton is N8,400 (you are buying at N350 per bottle). - 24 bottles per carton. Resale is N9,600 (which means you are selling at N400 per bottle). of course you can sell for N450 or N500 per bottle....depends on how you want to go about it. |
When ever there is darkness, there is light somewhere. Most of the richest men today made more money from troubled periods. Am not saying this to mock the evil situation that has befallen our great West Africa, am just a businessman trying to see opportunities where there are none. When the stock market crashed alot of people wept BUT alot of people were able to purchase shares worth hundreds of thousands cos the prices crashed and they gave glory to God that they can now afford to become shareholders. I dont know of other places, but here in Delta State, when the government banned okada, some people lay curses on the governor while some few rushed to buy keke and were blessing the governor. That period, i met one who told me he makes over 14k a day and he kept saying "May God bless the governor". What am i saying? When a bad and terrible situation arise, do you see defeat everywhere? Or you try to figure out the opportunity God has hidden in the difficulty and try to harness it. Now back to base; The Ebola virus is real and it's deadly like we all know and for now there is no cure (at least for Africans). And the advice we have been getting from governments and WHO is "PREVENTION". How do we prevent it? 1. Avoid Bush Meat/ fruit bats 2. Avoid contact with someone that is affected (critically ill) 3. Always wash your hands. My emphasis here is no 3. But when you are on the move going about your business do you keep washing your hands every 5 minutes? Will you carry a bucket of water and soap to do that every now and then? The answer is no! You can wash your hand when you have the opportunity to do so, BUT how else can you keep your hands clean?? By carrying hand sanitizer where ever you go! It's the next best thing to keeping germs away from your skin so when you cant wash your hands, you can easily apply hand sanitizer every five minutes just to be safe. Some of you in Lagos already know that by now its scarce to buy, everyone is looking for where to buy hand sanitizers everywhere. And this is where you can make money. One of my Uncles in Lagos is the direct country rep of one nice looking hand sanitizer company abroad, which means he is the Major distributor and resides in Lagos. All sales the company makes in Nigeria goes through him. And i remembered 2 months ago, he told me it was hard making sales. Now, as a result of ebola virus, he sells more than 300 cartons every 3 days. In fact the last time we spoke he said someone ordered for 500 cartons there in Lagos.....he told me, "you are there watching ebola news on TV while am here making millions".....instantly i woke up!!! Imagine making N1,200 from each carton and selling 200 cartons weekly!!!....Families buy a whole carton for personal use, secondary schools permits the sales to their students (imagine a school of over 3000 students), companies allow you sell to their workers....the demand is huge, the income potential is great! Each carton has 24 bottles. Yesterday, i spoke to a friend in Bayelsa about selling there and she said she will go and make the announcement on radio directing everyone to get hand sanitizer at a local health center (where she wanna use as a base) and her target is to sell 100 cartons daily....wow! There are so many strategies you can use and i bet you, you will make money this period...but dont go to church and shout "Thank God for ebola virus ohhh!!! I nor send you that one oh. You can even print a banner and tie in one or two popular chemist shops. Drop the cartons there and watch how people will buy your hand sanitizer like mad!!...The fear of death is the beginning of money Like the sample banner i attached below. If you need some imported and cheap sanitizers (not the expensive ones FLP sells), and need more strategies on how to make money this period, hola at me. This information is for anyone who wishes to make money this period. No more complains about how the country is hard cos this is an opportunity you should grab oh!

OmerianConsult: Hmm! Your idea is still 100% viable. We conducted a research that shows that less than 25% of admission seekers get lucky every year. This is not just about making money but making impact. Nigeria needs you, Africa needs you. Please try angelstartups.com for funds. Get the needed funds and execute the idea excellently such that immitators can only play catchup. Have you considered internet bandwidth before making the lectures 100% video? We wish you all the best. Thanks, i considered bandwidth consumption which makes the whole project expensive. What i was able to work around was Diskspace. No matter the contents, it will consume less space. The technology is very simple. I was already in talks with a US company that has the app i needed on their website (live video and presentation, with a digital room which can contain more than 100 people at a time) - this will be for a fee ofcourse. All they needed to do was to give me a custom script, more like an API which i will in turn give to my developers in India to build a custom plugin which will wrap this API script. This is the plugin i will integrate in the website. So instead of users to be re-directed to a third part application, everything can be done inside the website via the API string of the third part app. The plan was that as time goes on, when there is enough money, then i can then build my own multimedia app cos it's super expensive. Anyway, thanks for your comments...i guess we should all get back to work. ![]() |
oladayo042: I don't know if the owner of LearnSmart stole your idea or not but I know that NO IDEA IS UNIQUE TO ANYBODY. If you don't execute your ideas, others will and it will be a surprise to you.Trust me, my idea was unique. There are alot of Online Open Course Systems out there but not even the almighty Coursera or even ALISON have what i intended to do. In my case, training will be done as video presentation via LIVE feeds. It's not just you signing up and "reading" the course materials. Here, you sign up and WATCH a live video of a facilitator doing the training live. You can ask questions and get responses. You can also hear questions asked by other class members. I evaluated Cousera, ALISON, etc and decided to do something different. I also gave the contract of developing the special app which is to be integrated into the website to some Indian developers BUT i could not afford their fees. |
I have created my proposed ad to be displayed here on NL but the problem is that though it is the recommended size (318 x 106) but its really heavy. Instead of 30kb or less, its over 400kb. Abeg how i go do am?? |
MarvellousGod: How could you share your 'whole' business idea with a person who never paid you a dime??In life, we learn everyday. There are some persons who are just too nice and responsible that you wouldn't mind sharing with them. When it comes to business i dont have friends, only clients! I am not trying to accuse Mr Jarus of anything but i just have to be sure since he was the only person i really explained to. And definitely he must have transferred the "explanation" to someone else in his bid to seek advice/counsel like he said earlier. I dont know who else he must have shared it with but i believe the leak must have come from there. Mr Jarus, my anger with you is that after seeking counsel, you should have notified me that you were no longer interested. It wont take anything from you. The reason is if you had done that, i wont even think or consider that you are behind LearnSmart. Why? Because of your notification that you weren't interested. I believe you are a man of your words and so i will believe that a man who says he is not interested will not go behind my back to implement. Also, since you explained about it to Seun, so another random question is "did Seun discuss it with someone else jokingly?" ......there are alot of questions on my mind. And if Seun pointed out flaws, you should have called my attention to them and given me some advise like people know you to give. You revoked your interest and also did not advise me on the flaws identified. Everyone on NL see you as a career adviser but you did not prove to me that you are one. Instead you avoided my calls like ebola virus. #JustSaying# The bitter lesson i have learnt here is to trust no one. No matter how legitimate or responsible the person might appear...TRUST NO ONE! And to anyone out there that has a viable project he wants to share or seek funding, always ask the person to sign a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) before sharing so if anything happens, you can properly seek legal action. That was the mistake i made and such wont happen again. As for the owner of LearnSmart, i will see how far you will go. Thieves always get caught one day. And as they say, "The more you keep trying to be like someone else, the more you end up being no 2." Mr Jarus, i hope you are not provoked. I mean no harm, i am just pissed. I respect you and i ALWAYS read your blog. My advise to you is that when you are dealing with someone, always communicate with the person to the end even if you end up changing your mind about what you were discussing with the person, at least courtesy demands you inform the person so the person wont start having thoughts. Am sure you wont like being left to hanging dry just like that also....its frustrating and annoying. Nice job on what you have been doing so far here on Nairaland. Cheers. ![]() |
It's already a know issue of Nigerians inability to become creative. The rise of poverty and lazy "entrepreneurs" is a result of their attitude of sitting down looking for contents to steal, copy or pirate. The question is, how long do you think you can make money that way? Sometime ago, i setup a project called "Lake Academy". It's an online training portal where people can register and and select a course where they will undergo training from any location as long as they are connected to the internet. It's a huge project, i recruited experts from different countries to prepare the course contents and they agreed to deliver the lectures via special multimedia tools and app which is to be integrated into the website. But there are alot of things involved with running a massive project like this. One of such is obtaining the proper accreditation, there are alot out there that is supposed to give the project some level of credibility like the DETC (Distance Education and Training Council) in the US, plus other bodies here in Nigeria. The primary vision of this project is to in some years time, transform into an online university which Nigerian and Africans will be proud of and benefit from. Also, there is a huge running cost involved with the project and all these i cannot afford. Because i didnt want the project to die, i decided to sell it off. I placed a sale ad here on Nairaland requesting serious buyers to contact me. I was careful not to include so many details because i know what Nigerians can do. The next day precisely 7am, i received a phone call from someone we all know here as Jarus. he called me and said he his very interested in acquiring the project and we started negotiating an agreeable fee. We couldnt arrive at a good conclusion so he promised to call me again in the evening so we discussed more. I agreed. True to his word, he called me later in the evening around 5pm and we discussed for over 42minutes on the phone! He asked me ALOT of questions which i happily explained to him. He asked me how the site can be operated, how do i intend to integrate a multimedia app for the training purpose, how will the exams be conducted, etc Before i started explaining, we had an agreed fee which he is going to buy the website. He gave me an additional offer to come to Lagos after he has paid for the website BUT i should continue running the website cos it seems kinda complex and it's something i understand very well since i originated the idea. After spilling my guts, he promised to call me the next day so we can transact. Alas since that day till today, he refused to pick my calls! If he had called me to say "Something came up so am no longer interested" i would have relaxed. But he just avoided my calls for weeks, that i began doubting his professionalism. Professionals dont do that, if you are so busy you cant pick calls, at least you can send text messages. I am not pointing fingers at anyone but the truth is, Mr jarus was the only person i really spoke to at length and explained A-Z of the project. I held nothing back because of his reputation here on NL and i see him as somebody whom i can trust. Lo and behold some weeks after my "discussion" with him, www.learnsmart.com.ng was born. The so-called website is totally my concept and idea. And the owner even went as far as copying my statements from the original Lakeacademy.com.ng Please look closely at the screenshots below, you will notice some content and idea thief at work. The first is from LearnSmart while the second is from my website, LakeAcademy.

Hi folks....been a while. I have been working on my company website. Your website tells alot about you, it's your digital representation of your business on the World Wide Web and so it should look good. I did a complete redesign of my website, letterhead papers, and logo. Please go through it and give your own assessment. As for copy-cats, i have disabled the "right click" and "text select" feature so don't bother copying my contents ![]() You can download the company profile and the company's price list from the website. 5 Star Global Nature of business; - I.C.T Consultations (Website development, social media marketing, I.T equipments supply, installations and maintenance) - Business Solutions (Organizational Branding, Administrative Consulting, CAC registrations, Corporate & Industrial supplies). tpia1: Sounds realistic.Thanks.. |
singlefade25: I hope it is not marketing, because I don't want to waste my money. Op, please give more details. And what is wrong if it's a marketing job? People look at marketing jobs like someone with ebola virus. Try and establish your own business and lets see if you wont do marketing. If you are tired of sitting at home, go online, take a course on marketing and get busy. With the right marketing jobs, the more you work, the more you earn. You are not tied to a fixed salary no matter the input you make. If the company does not have good incentives, move on. but if their compensation is cool....then why not?? Cheers. |
@OP, I went though your website and it's a nice concept. But don't you think you should have a price list of your services? Or are the fees so massive and outrageous that you wouldn't dare list it on your website for fear it will scare people away? You put a package and attach a price tag on it (i believe the prices are fixed and non-negotiable) so we know what we are looking for. Cos for now you receive calls asking for prices, but when the price is listed the calls you receive will be for closing a sale. When your phone rings, you know it's a done deal cos you dont need to start explaining how much an office space cost. |
