All infrastructure is vulnerable to vandalism.

There is nothing on ground to suggest that these power infrastructure would be insulated from attacks by any aggrieved/criminal group or from external aggression - absolutely nothing.

Boko Haram attacked the network providers' masts and other equipment savagely; the whole of North East was cut-off from civilization at a point.

The solution is to begin the process of restructuring Nigeria.

All attempts at taking the easy route by sidestepping and running away from the real issues would be postponing the evil day.
Yes nothing, but hydro station have been existing in Niger state from time immemorial yet you've not heard of one single one been Attacked/bombed.

Nigeria needs to strengthen the ties among the multicultural groups in Nigeria, not with Russia.
Puttin is a vile power monger son of bitch looking for vulnerable countries like Nigeria to defile.
What does this mean for Nijahuh

Russia to systematically loom over Nigeria...

Puttin indirectly seeking to make Nigeria become the likes of Syria & Ukraine...

Nigeria heading for the doom...

Let Puttin stay in his country & strengthen his rotten ties there, not Nigeria.
If you say nigeria is been vulnerable, do you then mean Iran too had been vulnerable? Becos russians helped them build their nuclear plant
And as it stand iran is presenrly more developed than nigeria.

Russian are good in what they do. Very good. Their SOYUZ rocket (spacecraft) is the most reliable in the World. Quote me any where. US just get mouth for propaganda.

You are talking of public tap water as a yardstick to development! Water supply as a problem was long solved in SS and SE and it has been remove from government priorities....The greatest development is human capital that's why the SS and SE is leading other regions on the millennium development goals. We want GEJ cos he was doing sustainable reforms and development. He was building institutions and for your info free and fare elections left with GEJ undecided
Public tap water not a priority?

Just because peopl hav decide not to wait for gov't and are sinking borehole here and there weakening the earth layers you thought its ok for gov't not to provide portable water?

I unearth his previous comment because the OP wanted to exonerate Buhari and his government. In his comment as I quoted, he complained about Akpkabio (then state governor) for not providing employment for the Akwa ibomites. If he could blame state government for unemployment, nothing stops him from blaming the government. BTW, the youths I see everyday are not lazy. We always say the youths to hide from providing facts. Look at your friends and tell me that none of them is not striving to survive. I have seen many young people, both girls and boys, going extra mile to earn a living. Government should provide a level playing ground by making power a bit stable so you will see the magical youths.
I think i understand the op differently. He is not exonorating the present gov't he is just saying if you have to wait for gov't you'll wait for a long time.
Also frm what you posted on his write-up on akpabio, its a different thing entirely.

We all know that its a fathers responsibility to educate his child.there are fathers that have not done it and yet the children found their way through sch. Gov't is supposed to provide portable water, since they did not are peopl not drilling borehole?
If everybody had to wait for gov't to provide them with what to do such pple would end up sad bitter and frustrated.

If you need to plant tomato, potato, cucumber(sack farming) or maize for a season borrow a friends land, a neighbours or a relatives. Used same people uncompleted building to do poultry. Nope. Thats not the cash under probe.

The Dasuki-gate cash for example was approved for purchase of military equipment for the war on BH on PAPER but when the money was released it was not used to buy any weapon but shared to metuh, ffk, bafarawa, and many other pdp leader to help secure votes.

The NIMASA funds on the other hand was money generated by th agency and spend the way they like without remitting it to federation acc.

NNPC funds on the other hand was reciept of crude oil lifted and sold and money not paid to the federation account

Probably total supported cameroun cos it would be easier to deal with the communities their than those in nigeeia? Or probably because they wouldnt need to settle militants in that country when they start laying pipes and drillin oil.

Thinking out loud.
What if pipelines are bombed?
What if the crude is still allowed to flow freely for like 2-3wks after the bombing?
What if 'oyel' is allowed to cover areas as large as , say 2 or 3 Lga?

What if someone in one of the communities jst drop the butt of his cigarrate?
Would that ignite the crude that was spilled from vandalised pipeline and start an inferno that might consume even the communities?
Wont crude oyel burn even when its floating on water?

Thinking out loud

We find solution only in places we are looking for it

Following the closure of Nigerian borders in the North East, businesses in Chad have lost 50% of their revenue, the Honourary Consul in Chadian Consulate in Kano, Abubakar Assair has said.

Interviewed by Daily Trust in Yola, the ‎Consul, who visited Adamawa State governor as well as internally displaced persons camps in the state, appealed to Nigerian authorities to ease the restriction on border with Cameroon in Adamawa to allow free flow of trade between Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon.

Nigeria had sealed it's borders at the height of Boko Haram cross border attacks to check possible movement of insurgents and weapons.‎

The consul said between 40 to 60 truck of supplies from Borno State alone used to cross the borders to Chad before Boko Haram crisis while Chadian business men supplied cows and other commodities to Nigerian markets.

According to him, scarcity of construction materials in Chad had stagnated infrastructure development in the country while the volume of export to Nigeria slumped.

"Before the sealing of the borders, cows from Chad arrived Nigerian markets in four days, now it takes 40 days. I met the governor to discuss ways of improving business relation with Chadians and the response was impressive. I also met with the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Police over the need to open the border where they promised to forward the matter to the federal government", he said.

Assair denied allegations that goods looted by Boko Haram were sold freely in Chadian markets, saying Chadian authorities had always worked with Interpol to prevent stolen goods from entering the country, and that stolen goods from other countries were severally intercepted and returned to their owners even before the advent of Boko Haram insurgency.

He called on Nigerian authorities to always contact their Chadian counterparts to ascertain the nationality of suspected foreigners, saying no single Chadian had ever been confirmed to be a Boko Haram fighter.

"Nigeria is our second home. Peace in Nigeria ‎guarantees peace in Chad and other neighboring countries. So, we are ready to work with Nigeria to ensure peace and stability", he stated.

This govt is too flippant to be taken serious. What do they do with the billions they recovered so far?

With the economy flagging red, they still discover uncover and probe without investing.

Where are these monies kept and why must they be kept idle (if at all)?
Recovered money can be channeled into other priority areas,

The one that are discovered would no longer be budgeted for nxt yr. Some money too cant be touched but kept as Exhibit during prosecution. Others they have to wait till after the case is successfully prosecuted

Politics › FG Discovers 43,000 Ghost Workers, Saves 50bn Through Audit Of Security Agencies by DaudaAbu(op): 10:25pm On May 24, 2016
The Head of the Continuous Audit team of the Federal Government, Mr Mohammed Dikwa, on Tuesday said N50 billion was saved so far through the audit of security agencies payroll.

Dikwa said this in Abuja at a meeting between the Continuous Audit team, Minister of Finance and Heads of Para-Military agencies to discuss ways to clean up the payroll of the security agencies.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that President Mohammadu Buhari had set up the Continuous Audit team to look into the payroll of all Federal Government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The team had already embarked on the audit of the Military payroll and enrolling them on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

“Since we started the continuous audit programme, we have saved about N50 billion and over 43,000 ghost workers have been removed from the payroll of the federal government.

“And as we go on, we are very sure that we will continue to reduce the cost of federal government payroll.

“Please note the cost is not related to ghost workers alone but with allowances which we believe have to be trimmed down so that we can manage the cost of governance,’’ he said.

Dikwa said that the officers from the account departments of all the para-militray agencies were currently undergoing training on IPPIS and the Government Management Information System (GIFMIS)

He said the plan was to have all the agencies enrolled on the IPPIS and GIFMIS at the end of the month once the training was completed.

similarly, the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, said the audit of the para-military payroll would focus mainly on non-regular allowances of security officers.

She said initial investigations had revealed that these allowances had created avenues for unscrupulous persons within the system to steal money.

“The president has given the directive that all ministries and agencies of the Federal Government be enrolled on the IPPIS latest December, 2016.

“This meeting is to discuss the modalities of how this will be achieved; specifically, there are number of allowances described as the non-regular allowances.

''We have to make sure that these non-regular allowances are paid directly to those who are serving. And the best way to do that is through an automated system.

“This system will be linked to BVN so the money is going to specific individuals rather than being diverted elsewhere.

“Whoever is paid irregular allowances for hazard, risk or other extraneous factors, it is important that the money gets to them.

“The people taking the risk should be paid, otherwise the service they are expected to render will be in jeopardy,’’ she said.

Adeosun said that one of the advantages of the IPPIS was that delays in payment of salaries and allowances of security personnel would be a thing of the past.

She reassured members that the details gathered through the IPPIS would be kept safe so that identities of security operatives would not be compromised.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mr Bassey Akpanyung, pledged the ministry’s support to ensure that all the security agencies under its control complied for the success of the process.

NAN report that the head of customs, immigration, prisons, police, fire service and civil defence were present at the meeting (NAN)

We become dependent on gas by choice for some reasons 1. It is cheap 2. It is clean 3. It is surplus and readily available 4. It is capable of providing our energy requirement 5. It doesn't leave as much environment impact as most other energy sources

As much as I agree with us diversifying our energy requirements, the question we need to ask ourselves is first, what is our total energy requirement? Do we have enough water sources that will give us water throughout the year and will give us enough water volume for the energy we need? Can solar and hydro provide all our energy need? What are the comparative advantages of these energy sources?
Saying we choose gas out of choice and we thus can opt out of choice like that is not something I will readily subscribe to. Maybe coal and nuclear sources will meet what we need but they are not clean like the gas plants and pose great environmental risk.
All those countries that are calling for us to cut carbon emission are the same people polluting the earth with their massive unclean coal plants (china, USA)
We might have gas in abundance and despite all its advantages some groups are telling us all not to depend on it.
Moreso, the report didnt say hydro and solar can provide our need but that we should have a healthy mix from the various sources
