Hello guys, Merry Christmas!

I see a lot of information that can scare applicants here. Nevertheless, don't give up.

Turkey is such a nice place to live and study. I will be honest with you, no assurances on jobs especially if you want to do office work. But what most people do here is teaching and you must have some level of certification and a good CV to back it up.

On the sideline, if you are into buying and selling, Turkey is the best place to be. Things are very cheap here....food, clothes, transportation (to an extent) and life generally.

Housing cost- It is best for you to rent a shared apartment (staying with others in an apartment). In Istanbul, you can get apartments from around 10-40k Naira per month. Depending on if it's furnished or not!

Students benefit a lot from the cheap transportation if you have the student bus card...once you do a month subscription on it for around 2.5/3k, you will have the opportunity of having 200rides (bus, ferry, train, team)

Food is very cheap here especially if you do not mind eating their local food and also if you can cook your food yourself. Cooking in your house saves a lot of money!

School fees- Depends on the school you apply for. Public schools charge as low as $300 per session but a bit difficult to gain admission. Private universities can charge between $1.5k - $4k per session. It's easier to gain admission to any of the private universities....when searching, look for schools that do not require application fee (if you like free things like me).

Istanbul is big so when applying you have to consider nearness to where you want to stay. It doesn't make much sense if your school is 2hrs from your place, though it doesn't matter much these days that lectures are online.

Business side- if you are into merchandising, this is a good place to visit. There are so many markets in Istanbul- depending on what you want to buy and where you will get it cheaply. Electronics such as phones and TV can be a bit expensive, but other stuffs can be relatively cheap. You can get busy with sales of clothes, shoes, household accessories etc, if you are looking for a side hustle....it pays very well if you have buyers and people you can send to in Nigeria!

I wish you well in all your endeavours guys! For those in Istanbul and anyone wishing to come to Turkey, feel free to hit me up, I stay around Pendik. Would be nice to have friends around!
Wow thanks alot for this motivation I have some questions:

1. I have just C's in my waec gce and I intend studying Economics , what are my chances of getting admitted in a public school

2. I researched on METU and found out it's main campus is in Ankara and kinda like the school based on the tuition for my proposed course which I saw on their site to be 1300tl (+70k), so is this really their fees or will I pay for other things and what other cheaper options do I have.
3. I'm hoping to study at Ankara or Istanbul, so pls refer me to other cheap options that doesn't require application fees
4. Please is language test compulsory, if no hope I won't be asked to pay for it or mandated to write other exams at my cost when I arrive Turkey...
5. I'm currently learning programming, how's the ecosystem for techs in Turkey?
6. my budget is 1m, do you think it'll be enough to process it? And if No what's the minimum amount I should target in my account?

I'm currently at ikoyi office for collection, I captured on 30th of December, and when I arrived I was asked to provide my application ID and NIN slip, after I showed them, they asked me to write my name on the paper and drop it in a bowl, which I did and I'm waiting for the next step... Will be updating the thread.

79733139:
If they ask you for "bribe" or any of such, please do mention me when you are updating. I want to do mine and as it is right now, I can't afford to bribe or pay above the official amount. A woman reported one of the officials for such behaviour and I am willing to do the same.
No problem I will..

I just collected my passport now, after submitting my enrollment number with my name when I arrived, it took about 45mins before I was given my passport and activating it took less than 10mins.. I did it completely DIY and didn't pay anyone for anything and I got it exactly after two weeks.

Cost:
Application fee 25k
Extra charges for payment 1k
Money for guarantor 2k
Printing 500
Photocopying 500
T. Fare 2k

Total cost for me: 31k

Or when he'll sing for constructing mega health centers and low tuition schools in his community, instead of this useless showmanship of our stolen commonwealth......

Nigeria has produced more bad leaders than the universe has produced oxygen.... Nonsense.

I'm not so sure. Acceptance letter is more important for graduates students. Recently some schools have made it necessary to get one before applying for any graduate program. Never heard such regards to undergraduate programs.

So, just apply with or without acceptance letter.
Okay sir

IELTS, HSK, Publications, and maybe recommendation letters

How did she know the names of all the people she was supposed to be meeting for the first time?
TravelRe: Cost Of A Nigeria International Passport by Dave0116(m):
I got to the passport office by 8am, as I got there, they were calling those who came for capturing to go in, I joined them and I went straight to the long room, and to the capturing room after which I was told I haven't done done anything, that I'll have to enroll... She asked me to go to servicom.
As I reach servicom I met C. Agba, he said my interview was supposed to be after new year that I should go back, I told him I applied for scholarship, and needed it as soon as possible and I told him i asked some officers on nairaland and they asked me to explain to any officer i meet, he asked if I came with evidence to prove I applied for scholarship, I told him I forgot it since I was in a hurry... I kept apologizing until he gave me some 4 papers to photocopy 2pcs each. I did the photocopy and he gave me one of it to fill, after I was done filling he helped me changed the file and gave me the brown file and asked me to go to the office in the middle for stamp... I went and I was stamped, he asked me to go to the long room and pass it to all attendants there... Omo grin grin
As I got there the first person I met was one tall and huge woman who after collecting my file yelled I should go and sit down, Lol. After few minutes she called me to collect and move to the next counter, at all counters I noticed they placed my file under and their staffs will occasionally drop random files to be signed first before the ones already there, I tried to be patient and courteous as possible as I no know anybody... after the last stamp on the long room I was asked to go and enroll in the capturing room... As I enter I met officer Nyako (God bless him) he handed my file to be enrolled (he made sure everyone was treated equal, he didn't condone putting people in front of people) and he asked me to join the queue from Inside.... When it was my turn I went and captured and was given a number. I was instructed to return the file to servicom, which I did but this time I didn't see Officer Agba to thank him, so the officer I met asked me to drop the file and come back in two weeks time....

I saw officer Adamu countless times, he's quite popular and works tirelessly sha.

Thank you very much Nairaland, your advice and tips was really helpful

Thank you very much Chief... You really help me.

You have to convince him. Tell him why you can't wait. I was there today and he, officer Agba asked me to come on my scheduled date but I explained and was captured eventually. I got to the passport office around 12pm, by 2:15pm I was done. Going through servicom and not paying a bribe gave me a vip treatment.
I got service earlier than those who paid 40k. Passport to be ready by Friday. I paid yesterday. I'm shocked.
You probably saw me because I was there at tgat same time nonetheless I'll go again tomorrow.

But pls can you list out the procedures, like after the notarization what's next?

Hello,

Please which of the centres is best suited for DIY in Lagos. Though I stay closest to festac but Ikoyi seems to appeal to me.

I have my NIN, but not the NIN slip would this be a problem? what's the solution? cos someone mentioned that the NIN slip is a required document for passport renewal @ Ikoyi.

I plan on hitting Ikoyi on Tuesday for capturing, hu is in?
Can we share your guarantor? I'm capturing at ikoyi tomorrow and I also don't have NIN slip but have the number.
