Its a very simple problem. Your strut mounts were not tied properly. Most mechanics don't tighten it properly after strut replacement.
If you have the tools check them yourself.. you dont need a mechanic for this.
Ps: check the center nut especially. In some cars, it will need to be keyed into that hole. It must very very very tight. You may even have to use a washer for added advantage.

Nairaland1stson: Hello 👋
Recently i noticed that my 2008 Toyota Rav4 with a V6 Engine 2GR The coolant in my radiator is mixed with transmission fluid likewise the transmission oil in the gearbox is mixed with coolant from the radiator. My mechanic said radiator is bad which was replaced and transmission oil drained and refilled and same thing still occurred what could be the culprit here ?? How many liters of ATF did you use for the refill after draining? |
Car Talk › Realtime MPG Reading On Honda Civic 2009 by David50(op): 2:51pm On Nov 27, 2023*. Modified: 4:04pm On Nov 27, 2023 |
Hi all, Was on a drive today and I thought to make a review of how my car was doing on gas - and boy was I impressed. Sure, I was always aware that my car was a crazy mizer on gas - but I didn't know she was this good.
I mean, just check out the readings for yourself.
Mind you (for those who have used the Torque app), you'll have to properly set the car configurations to ensure you get accurate readings of the various indexes.
With fuel being so expensive these days, it's important to ensure your car is on the same page with your pocket. I also own a 2013 Honda CRV, but she is not this considerate 🤣.
To achieve better MPG, you have to ensure you take note of the smaller details of the car. For those interested, you can equally share pictures of your best mpg readings and the name/brand of car in question - so we can all be amazed.
**ps - trying to update with a clearer video** |

Obidikejr: Hello bossos
I'm about to buy a car. Noticed a few things.
1. The steering isnt smooth enough. Has a stiff turn. I won't enjoy driving it this way atall. I'm used to light steering and easy turning of the wheel.
2. The AC really pulls at the engine especially when moving from a stop.
This is a Honda Accord 2009.
I understand I'm buying a Nigerian used car and it won't be nearly 100% perfect. But are this things fixable and not cause regret if I proceed further to purchase the car
Also noticed the vehicle paper has expired way back in 2016 (same time the custom duty was done). According to the dealer, the person has been using the car in the core north (where all this uniform people don't trouble them) so didn't see need to renew the vehicle papers. What do you think ?
Appreciate your thought on this too Actually, like you mentioned, there are hardly any perfect Nigerian vehicles. So the trick is to get one that isnt too abused. I'd start with a simple scan of the vehicle..it may reveal more potentially serious issues with vehicle. But strictly going by the symtoms you mentioned, they aren't very critical problems. The steering issue could be linked to steering pump or steering rack or other related components which are totally fixable. For the AC, it might be using a manual compressor which is the preferred option for most AC kazeems nowadays.. so it shouldnt surprise you being a Nigerian used car... you can budget to switch to automatic after purchase - if you feel the need to do so. Start with a scan. Bid the car as low as possible so you can budget for the smaller fixes. |

Car Talk › Re: How Do I Solve This Honda Code by David50: 7:54pm On Oct 02, 2023 |
I had this same issue.
I remember following all the steps you outlined, but none worked.
I later realised its linked to this part in the engine (from the image below).. you'll see it when you remove the valve cover..
I'm not sure the image is 100% correct.. but its very similar.
I however decided to just leave it since it isn't affecting anything.

Take heart. Sometimes, these are the learning curves we have to go through as car owners.
Theres a better way to slightly raise the car though without excessive intrusion. But usually it is best to leave it the way it is. |

buygala: Toyota V8s will still be on the road when it's time for him to shell out bucks for a new hybrid battery
If he doesn't spend money on fuel, he will spend it replacing hybrid batteries.
Nothing free even in freetown Actually those batteries can go more than 10 years.. and the car still relatively new. So hes in good hands man. |

You may or may not have a dodged a bullet there. Good practice dictates you should check your oil at least once a week. Some even check it every morning which is better.
What's your car model and year? How long have you owned it and what type of oil have you been using? |

Thank Since it isn't causing any issues, manage it like that. Don't open that engine except the issue is critical. The sound may even end up going away on its own. |

dadabashua1: it's simple na, he grew up all his life hearing how people that has NEVER used Honda in their lives talks about how bad the brand is,yet year in year out makes the list of some of the best car brand on earth, same reason Nigeria remain underdeveloped,we work with the crowd mentality, every one is too lazy in investing time and energy in research to find out the truth and lies about every topic, trust me if you probe am further it will be the CRV leg de commot...lol na today? That CRV is one of the BEST 4 cylinders SUV on the roads, the ONLY thing the Pontiac can have over the CRV is fuel economy, but na insult self comparing it with the vibe,it will be an even comparison with RAV4... but what do I know, Nigerians will NEVER change sad reality. P.S a bad Honda according to Nigerians has hit 1M 34k miles on original engine and transmission...Honda na yeye brand truly e no de gree pack up. I was one of those stereotypes who felt Toyota was all in all untill just recently when I began to understand the scam. Sold my Toyota recently and bought a 2013 CR V. Not a single regret. Best car I've ever owned so far. Don't misunderstand me, Toyota's make very good cars, but Honda's are equally magnificent.... maybe even more |

Nemesisobaara: Omo! This is the reason I have not changed my Rx350 gear oil. After buying the WS gear oil, I have kept it in my car boot for a month now. A lot of our mechanic don't know anything and I don't want somebody to put holes in my pocket by messing up my transmission...🙄🙄🙄 Don't be afraid Delay in maintenance could be dangerous. Provided it is NOT leaking, drain the fluid and refill with the exact volume that was drained. Shikenan. |
Car Talk › Re: Tell Us Your Car Faults. Let's Assess And Fix Them by David50: 6:44pm On Mar 19, 2023 |
theadeola: Hello house.
my 2003 matrix auto tranny started acting up recently. When changing from gear 1 to 2, it revs up to almost 3000 rpms before changing and going to around 800 rpm. There's also this funny metallic sound when it does this. If I press the accelerator, the car jumps forward and the engine revs up a lot. I've changed the tranny fluid, changed valve body, still same thing.
Scanned the car today and error code for knock sensor was shown. No tranny codes. I'm a bit confused here. The car drove fine up till about 4 days ago when this started.
Any ideas on the issue pls? Sometimes, a faulty knock sensor gives the feeling of a defective transmission. Get an original brand new knock sensor for your vehicle.. Google the part number and double check before you buy. Take note.. it MUST be brand new as it easy for your mechanic to install a defective one (in the name Belgium used). You will definitely notice improvement in the gear shift and general drivability. |
