zendi: Thank you v much. Good to have people like you around, able to cut thro the maze of oando legal manoeuvrings.
Now, straight to the bone of my concern :
Is the bolded, Oando E&P Holdings Limited (still) owned by the Oando Plc we're trading on? The below should help Lagos, Nigeria – Oando Plc (referred to as “Oando” or the “Group”), Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy group listed on both the Nigerian and Johannesburg Stock Exchange, today announced audited results for the twelve months period ended 31 December, 2015... Oando (Group) is listed as "Oando Plc", but in itself, there is a downstream subsidiary called Oando Plc. Lol. Me sef don tire. |

zendi: The Oando boss explained that the company has completed 100 per cent divestment from Oando Energy Resources, OER, which was a loss making business, saying that it would allow the company to focus on its core business of retail downstream trading and gas production.
Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/07/debt-ridden-oando-begs-investors/
Ref the above statement, taken from the last paragraph of the story in this link, has oando plc actually sold oando energy resources, and if so, to whom? Is it not OER that handles the upstream business of oando, including the acquired COP assets ? Pls I need somebody who understands to explain the bolded, or is it a case of bad journalism ? Oando had entered into a definitive agreement with OER to sell the outstanding minority shareholdings in the OER to another wholly-owned foreign-based subsidiary, Oando E&P Holdings Limited. Oando E&P Holdings Limited will also subsequently take over shares held by Oando Plc and other institutional shareholders in OER, making OER a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Oando E&P Holdings Limited, a private company incorporated under the Laws of the Province of British Columbia. So technically, Oando Plc do not have any holdings again in OER. |

Chukzyfcb: It seems u r monitoring thesituation like me too, lol those 4 banks only are in the safest position for now after 2015 financial report then maybe Fidelity following slightly Lol. Yes o. Information is key, and true for Fidelity, their topline was a bit impressive. |

Chukzyfcb: I agree with you bro. UBA risk management is TOP NOTCH. Their non performing loan after the release of 2015 financial result stood at 1.4% against the benchmark of 5% set by CBN. Whereother banks were recording decline in profit & sacking workers, UBA made a WHOPPING 25% Profit AFTER TAX & a 10% increase in its Gross earnings. UBA is one of the tightest banks now brov True bruv. UBA, ACCESS, ZENITH & GTB.. They kinging!.. |

OlujobaSamuel: oga, I bank with uba and skye, closed my Skye account more than a year ago when I saw some indices not so friendly. checkout the report on banks on Google or here on NL, the reports were by SR and Cable. Different reports, just add them all together, you get your answer. It's not about destroying them, but for us(depositors and shareholders) to be careful. Bros, I am trying to get your views, but comparing a UBA to a SKYE is absolute preposterous. UBA has one of the lowest exposure to the oil sector in terms of loans which made them one of the few banks to declare a profit last year (Mind you, 90% of the issues all the banks are facing are non-performing loans) To check if a bank is stable and unlikely to fold, you check their Financial Year results, do a year on year comparison and all that... Not looking at SR reports. Cheers. |

OlujobaSamuel: it's true, first bank is having issues, uba is also having. uba is not as much as that of first bank. let's hope they all won't go down. to cbn, how was Skye alloed to acquire afribank despite having all these issues? Oga, UBA is not having any issues. One of the safest banks right now. |

iyatrustee: .
I heard first bank is having issues too? Can anyone corroborate? Their results was not too good. Non Performing Loan ratio of about 18%, Revenue Decline of c.84%, impairment losses. They still paid small dividend sha based on historical trends and with their "too big to fail" status, their liquidity ratio and CAR was above the minimum requirements. |

I wonder why people are panicking. Banks cannot just fail again as the likes of what happened during Sanusi era. Now we have AMCON! and a functional CBN. In other news, if you work in a firm (banks or what-not) and the Chairman of the firm associate with some political undertones, please start looking for an EXIT! Fast.. ..and I pity those who bought Skye bank shares though.. (-9.5% in one day!) |

The bank is very OK, corporate governance issues, insider loan ish Oh I see.. CBN was now giving us gibberish, they should go and check FBNH NPLs (c.18% or so). Anyways, how body? osabuohein: I'm planning on even buying shares but honestly I don't know how this stock market thing works. I want to invest like #1,000,000 on shares but I don't know to go about it and how much returns it would fetch me. I've always heard about the stock market but I really don't know how it works. Is there a stockbroker in the house pls? The stock market is an highly risky venture where you can lose a portion of your capital and for investments with high risks, it also has high returns if you invest wisely. To start, you need to understand the companies listed on the market, their performance in terms of quartely and yearly results, do they pay dividends, how good is their corporate governance, are they making profit? et al.. Then open an account with a Brokerage firm and buy. |
