EID-EL-FITRI: OSUN SSG, IGBALAYE FELICITATES MUSLIMS, URGES FAITHFUL TO UPHOLD LESSONS OF THE HOLY MONTH.

Secretary to the Osun State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye has felicitated the Nigeria Muslim faithful in Osun State on the occasion of Eid-El-Fitri celebration, which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan fasting and prayers.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Kehinde Adeoye, Igbalaye prayed for the State and her residents especially muslims on the occasion of Eid-El-Fitri, wishing them more of Ramadan festivities in good health and prosperity.

The Osun state SSG urges Muslims in Osun State and in Nigeria to continue on the path of spirituality and peaceful co-existence, adding that they should not depart from the lessons learned during the holy month, especially on perseverance, tolerance and being of good behaviour towards one another.

He said "Today, I join millions of people around the world, to join all muslims in Osun State and Nigeria happy Eid-El-Fitri. Today's celebration is indeed unique. It is a feast to mark the end of a month-long spiritual renewal after 29 days of fasting, prayers, and other religious acts.

"I want to admonish all of us not to allow all the prayers and fasting during the Holy Month to go to waste. Let us all continue to imbibe and show that something important has passed through us and let it reflect in our words, our lives and relationship with fellow human beings.

"We should not limit the goodness of our deeds to Ramadan period alone, we must make the lessons and acts our way of life", he concluded.

Secretary to the Osun State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye today joined others to commiserate with the Osun State Commissioner for special duties, Dr. BT Salam over his mother's deaths.

In his condolence, Igbalaye said the contributions of the deceased in the lives of so many remains indelible.

As fasting kicks-off today, the Secretary to the Osun state Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye has admonished muslims across board to expend this period solely for the cause in which it is created.

The Secretary to the Osun State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye has expressed shock over the death of Alhaji Aderemi Sanni, husband of Yeyeluwa Modupe Sanni Adeleke.


In a statement signed by his media assistant, Kehinde Adeoye, the Osun SSG described late Alhaji Sanni's as a "muslim devotee" who lived an "exemplary life".

His statement:

"My deepest sympathy goes out to Yeyeluwa Modupe Sanni Adeleke and the entire family over the demise of Alhaji Aderemi Sanni. The news of his passing came as a rude shock. Indeed, we can't quantify the amount of pain this sad event has brought us."


"His demise has no doubt left a huge vacuum, but we take solace in the fact that baba lived an exemplary life. He was a muslim devotee who served Allah selflessly."

Secretary to the State Government and former Chairman of ALGON in Osun state, Hon Teslim Igbalaye has denied a statement credited to an Ondo born civil society activist, Ayo Ologun in which he  claimed Council Chairmen who served under former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola went away with their official vehicles.

Responding on behalf of former Council bosses which also include the current Chief of Staff to the state Governor, Hon Kazeem Akinleye, the Secretary to the State Government described the assertion as “a lie from the pit of hell”, declaring that no council Chief took away any official car.

He corrected the civil society activist by noting that the official vehicles for which the then council bosses pay part payment were taken from them immediately the court ruled against former Governor Oyinlola.

Wondering why Ologun decided to assert what he knew nothing about , Igbalaye stated further that similar treatment was meted out to the wives of former council bosses whose official cars were also taken away.

He narrated that under Aregbesola, caretaker council bosses of the ACN were allowed to take the official vehicles away after serving five years in office, a privilege not accorded the Oyinlola appointees.

“I affirm here that none of the local government  chairmen and their wives took away their official cars during Oyinlola's administration. We were eased out of the government through the Supreme Court Judgment.

“The official cars bought by local government chairmen during the Oyinlola regime were given as take home to all ACN caretaker  local government chairmen that took over from us under Aregbesola administration.

“The only car that I took home as an official car was the one bought by ALGON as ALGON State chairman. This has been the practice from National Headquarters in Abuja by paying  the necessary fees which I did with my receipt intact.

“And I was not the only beneficiary of the practice. During Chief Bisi Akande’s administration, the ALGON chairman, Dotun Adebiyi (of blessed memory) went away with his own ALGON official car as ALGON Chairman then”, the SSG asserted.

While cautioning commentators against spreading fake news, the SSG reaffirmed the decision of the state government to enforce the recommendation of the Committee on Recovery of Government Assets.

“ No fake news will stop recovery of vehicles and other assets belonging to the state. The Taskforce will soon commence operation. My advice to those who took away government vehicles is to return it as quickly as possible’, the SSG concluded in the statement.

The Secretary to the Osun State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye today took part in the ongoing Rave fm/sholly party 2023 Christmas grotto at the Osun Mall, Osogbo.


The grotto which had since kicked off saw the SSG sponsor over 200 kids while he equally presented gifts to them.


Hon. Igbalaye while having a chat with the kids encouraged them to be "good ambassadors" and of "good behaviour" wherever they find themselves.


He further charged parents against gender discrimination, maintaining that both boys and girls with adequate spiritual and educational training can make impacts in our society.


"Parents, let us endeavour to love our kids equally, regardless of their sex, with adequate spiritual and educational training, they all can grow to become good ambassadors in the future."

The Secetary to the Osun State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye has expressed shock over the sudden demise of the Chief Iman of Afonta Central Mosque, Osogbo, Sheik Afonta, who passed on in the early hours of today, 16th Dec, 2023 at the age of 70.


In a statement signed by his media Aide, Kehinde Adeoye, the SSG described the late Afonta as a selfless man who until his death touched lives through his teachings.


"I received with great shock, the news of the passing of a revered islamic scholar, the Chief Iman of Afonta Central Mosque, Osogbo, Fadilat Sheik Abdul Wahab Banni.


Baba Afonta was a devoted humanist, who selflessly lived to serve the people expecially through his various islamic teachings and admonitions."


Speaking further, Hon. Igbalaye extolled the qualities that Baba Afonta exhibited while he was alive, one of which was his flare to lead exemplarily

It is with a heart full of joy and gratitude to the Almighty God who has made us witness this monumental event, that i welcome you all to this August occasion- the commissioning of the renovated block of classrooms in our great Alma matta.


This is another eloquent testimony of our well known tradition of legacy projects, and a realization of our resolve to put education at the centre stage of our plan as alumni of this great academe.


As we celebrate the 30th anniversary, we must not relent in our drive to remodel and replace obsolescence so as to achieve the quality structures and aesthetic environment for the training of our young children as leaders of tomorrow.

I am particularly pleased that despite the observed growing decay of infrastructure and discipline amongst students in many schools in yester years, we as alumni of this great citadel of learning have resolved to uphold the standard.


What we are doing here today is a clear indication that we are champions for the rebranding of quality education. I urge us all to remain resilient while we seek to advance this cause.


As we move forward, Osogbo Grammar School will continue to be a strong beacon of light that shows the way and lead the pack of educators in the attainment of quality education, and the training of sound minds- men and women.


It is with this nostalgic feeling and expectations that I'm proud to commission this renovated block of classrooms here at Osogbo Grammar School.


I commend the effort of everyone that has contributed their quota to this historic development.


Let us continue to put Osogbo Grammar School at the centre of educational excellence in our state and even beyond.

The Secretary to Osun State Government, Honourable Teslim Igbalaye, has congratulated the newly sworn-in   Commissioners in the State, describing their appointment as "a response to the call to institute best practices and the right people in governance"

In a press statement signed by Hon.Igbalaye and made available to the media, the State Scribe enumerated the track record achievements of the Commissioners in their capacities, urging them to make choices that will enhance the promotion of people's aspirations.

While noting that their selection  was based on their tract records, and that congratulating them was beyond party politics, the SSG urged them to eschew  politics of prejudice in their respective duty posts.


His words, "I write to congratulate you on your emergence as  commissioners in the Osun State Executive Council. This elevation eloquently testifies to the Governor’s response to the need to institute best practice by the recruitment of the right people into the right places to enhance the derivatives of democratic empowerment in the State.

“In congratulating you, I have enthroned in good conscience and fairness on account of your industry, innovativeness and reform mindedness.

”By the privilege of your appointment, destiny has counted you worthy to be  part of the history of an emerging Osun State, that State of our collective dreams. Regardless of our peculiar challenges, your appointment to the State Executive Council has impacted the threshold of our inalienable socio-economic guarantees."

He stressed further, “I implore you to make choices that shall enhance the promotion of our collective  aspirations and break the narrow prejudices of the locust of our politics.

”I plead that you bring to bear in this appointment your acclaimed selfless commitment, focus, and capacity which has over time been the hallmark of the success recorded  in your private enterprise, to your new appointment", the SSG concluded.

The ascension of Hon. Teslim Igbalaye to the post of Secretary to the State Government of Osun did not come by chance, rather it was consequent of his long-standing achievement as a grassroot politician. Igbalaye needs no further introduction, he's a career politician whose sphere of influence extends beyond the pole of Osun politics.

Bibire, as fondly called by close relatives, friends, supporters and his colleagues in his party, has paid his dues and his hard work, commitment and resilience over the years has ultimately been rewarded.

This writer does not look to wallow in vain glory, but rather seeks to reveal the inept mischief propagated by noise makers and political jobbers who are apparently bereft of the reality. Public perception, they say, often masks reality and therefore misses the mark. Hence, it's imperative we set the record straight and dismiss any form of campaign that may misrepresent the man many of us have known as a fine gentle man given his exploits in Osun politics.

Hon. Teslim Igbalaye kicked off his political career from the grassroot. A terrain where basic political knowledge is mostly acquired. Like many politicians today, he's not an accidental politician who was merely gifted the various roles he has occupied till date, he's a career and intentional politician whose ideas and exploits have advanced the cause and welfare of his people. There is also no gain saying that he has long been involved in the development of his people, his immediate environment and the state at large.

Igbalaye stands on a tripod; experience, competence and character. He has been a major player in the politics of Osun for many years, making him one of the few veteran politicians left in the state who knows his onions.

To those who are oblivious of this man. Igbalaye has once served as the Osogbo Local Government Chairman under the former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. He governed as Chair between 2007 to 2010 where he undertook various progressive projects and clearly exemplified sterling leadership qualities.

Igbalaye was also the chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Osun and also took the position of the ALGON National treasurer. The epic victory of Govenor Ademola Adeleke at the 2022 gubernatorial polls ushered in a fresh challenge for Bibire. It was equally a breath of fresh air not only in the PDP fold, but also among Osun indigenes who had long ago yearned for a new government under the stewardship of Governor Adeleke.

Senator Adeleke was sworn in on sunday, the 27th of November, 2022 in a ceremony that threw the whole state into wild ecstasy. Subsequent to Adeleke's swearing-in, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye was appointed the Secretary to the State Government of the state. His appointment was received with joy and elation by many who believed it was a well deserved appointment for a man with an enviable track record. Ever since then, he has carried out his duties as SSG with an undiluted commitment and resilience.

Politics played in this part of the world is amoral and dirty. And Osun state politics is no exception. It is also safe to assume that some people are not comfortable with the growing reputation of Igbalaye hence the barrage of attacks launched at his person, his office and his principal.

The latest is the shocking claim of 'marginalization' of his office by the current captain of Osun state, Governor Adeleke. It came as a rude shock to hear in some quarters that Governor Adeleke is overriding the office of the SSG to the detriment of governance. Not only that there are untrue claims made against Igbalaye's principal about an impeding attempt to marginalize the Osogbo people in terms of developmental projects in the state. This is far from reality and it is politics taken too far. A rather disturbing report that misrepresented the reality. Govenor Adeleke has continually shown his love for the residents of Osogbo and the entire Osun people ever since he assumed office.

Hon. Teslim, on the 25th of June, 2023, had dismissed the report in a press statement released to the media by calling the report a "baseless attack". He maintained that Governor Adeleke has always treated Osogbo as his second home.

"I want to strongly reject the allegation as lacking any basis in truth or reality. Governor Ademola Adeleke has since assuming office treated Osogbo as his second home by attending to the infrastructural upgrade of the capital city from roads to water and light among others. Osogbo is receiving full gubernatorial attention for which our people are openly appreciative.", he responded.

Continuing, he said, "It is equally false to posit that my office has been relegated by a cabal. There is no cabal in the state government and I wonder where Mr Raji got his false narration from. I remain an ever busy SSG who is handling many high profile state tasks and whose office is functioning fully in line with best practices."

Despite this obvious evil machinations and attacks, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye remains committed to his primary duties. He refuses to be distracted by noise makers who only seek to deter him from functioning adequately and serving the Omolaubi people of Osun state. Bibire is above reproach.

Since inception, the goals of the Osun Health Insurance Scheme, (OHIS) has been unflinching, making sure that Osun residents have access to quality and affordable health care services. It is, therefore, no surprise that this agenda has been constantly preached with so much evangelistic commitment over the years.

Just recently, the Osun State government under the leadership of Gov. Adeleke reinstated Dr. Niyi Oginni, the executive secretary of the scheme following the review of the contract and MOU committee report. This move largely exemplifies the readiness of the Adeleke administration to remain committed in serving the people and making sure that the health concerns of everyone is treated as priority.

In addition, in a bid to continue to provide quality and accessible health services to the Osun masses, Governor Ademola Adeleke, two months ago, approved the payment of all debts to service providers under the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).

This was contained in a press release made available to newsmen by the executive secretary of the Agency, Dr Adeniyi Oginni.

Oginni in the statement clarified that the present administration was determined to ensure that residents have access to quality health care delivery.

The executive secretary, then urged all service providers under the scheme to continue to provide quality services to the teeming enrollees.

He  asked the service providers to adhere strictly to the rules of engagement as contained in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Agency.

Recall that Osun Health Insurance Bill was passed into law on the 30th October, 2018 under the leadership of Rt. Hon Najeem Salaam and signed in November 2018 by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola who equaly appointed Dr. Niyi Oginni as Executive Secretary.

OHIS is currently in partnership with up to 432 health facilities across Osun State. The list comprises of 332 local primary healthcare facilities, 17 public healthcare facilites inclusive of University of Osun Teaching Hospital, and 82 accredited private healthcare facilities.

Futhermore, OHIS, which was primarily conceived and designed as part of strategies for attaining Universal Health Coverage in the state, will continue to improve the health status of the residents of the state by creating access to health care management and insurance.
