Ur girl is not with u at home. So discard her food and eat ur mum's food. After d meal, go and tell ur mum how wonderful d meal was. She will be very pleased.

After that, call ur girl and LIE to her. Tell her d yam and whatever was too good and dt u'll want more of it. Ur girl will be very happy.

This way, u get to please two important women in ur life.

Don't let ur long throat for yam and egg make u hurt ur mum. A man has to lie his way true for peace to reign atimes.

Ignore her! The only face u need to look at is ur fiancee's. I pray d elder sis doesn't influence her negatively.

Do quick! Marry your wife and take her to your own home out of her elder sis's sight.

This is a federal road we're talking about here!

Religion / Till You Shut Up, ... by davno: 11:03pm On Sep 09, 2014
We talk too much, even in prayers.
Too much talking is part of selfishness.
We come to pray armed with our praises, armed with our songs, armed with our petitions.
We come mainly to make ourselves heard without regard for whatever the Almighty might have to say.

Prayer is about Him. It is communication with Him, and till we stop talking, we might never hear Him.

Godmystrength: Maybe you should go and change your name then (you can adopt your middle name) so that you will stop reminding her of her ex.......Each time she calls your name, it is a reminder of what she wished for but never had......... what nonsense cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy How can she marry you when she knew that you have the same name with her ex?? Not acceptable because she should have known that any man bearing the same name as her ex or even share any semblance with him is a no go area for ever and ever.

Imagine having sex with her and she remembers her ex and calls his name, you will think she is calling your name. That's cheating

But how did the husband find out about all these yeye coincidence?? undecided

Na waa oh!

Why did you have to include "(True story)" in the topic?

I hope you would understand then if I find this coincidence a little too much of a coincidence to just be a coincidence...

I've read a lot of fabricated stories on NL. That's why I included "true story".
Still trying to wrap my head round this coincidence.

Capableben:
hmmm nice points, looking at Nigeria as a point of view, One hardly find doctors amongst the greatest men we have. Globally I only know of Carson...

You sound biased about doctors. Your knowledge of the medical field cannot be said to be universal knowledge.

You know Ben carson as a renowned neurosurgeon. That's just a minute part of medicine. Ben Carson is also not the richest doctor but he is a great man who by his nature and experience has impacted his field and motivated numerous people around the world.

Ben Carson himself has some other great doctors who motivated him. I guess you have read his works.

There are numerous great doctors. That you don't know them does not change the fact that they are great. I have have seen rich and wonderful Nigerian doctors. I know one that makes at least 10 million naira monthly from his practise here in Nigeria and he is not the richest Nigerian doctor. The richest man in my LGA is a medical doctor. I can go on and on.

We have too many unsung heroes in almost every profession in the world. People who are truly great but not famous. Being great does not necessarily mean being a celebrity.
Education / Re: Do Doctors Really Make It To Greatness? by davno: 4:21am On Aug 27, 2014
Being a doctor, an engineer, an actor, a politician, musician, etc is not what makes a person great.

Greatness is something that you bring into your profession. Can also be developed along the way.

It's about the person and not the profession.

Meanwhile, medicine remains a very noble profession that has both great and "non-great" people in it's fold.

Nairaland / General / Good Nigerian Policemen (A True Story) by davno: 1:00pm On Aug 21, 2014
Sometime last year I journeyed from Lagos state to Kwara state. I set out very early to go take care of an important family business in one of the towns of Kwara state. I arrived Ilorin the capital of kwara at about 9am and to my utmost frustration there were no movements in Ilorin. It was governorship election day and there were policemen all over the place.

I didn't know what to do but I needed to attend to the family business before 1pm and movement was restricted till 4pm. I came along with only enough money for the trip. I begged different drivers to help me and I promised to pay them handsomely. They were all afraid of the police. I just needed a driver dt will agree to take me to the town and back to Lagos for any fee. Mind you I didn't carry my ATM card. I hate carrying it because I can be a very wasteful spender. Taking d exact amount of money I need helps me to control my spending.

I lost hope and called my wife to let her know that my trip will be unsuccesful. I told her there were policemen everywhere and no vehicular movements. She encouraged me not to lose hope and adviced me to approach the policemen for help. WHAAAT I outrightly rejected the advice. But she insisted and reminded me that I had nothing to lose. The trip was as good as over.

I reluctantly agreed. At that moment I had only about N6000 with me. I approached a group of policemen, introduced myself and explained my predicament. The leader of the group directed a younger officer to take me to their oga at d station.

We got to the station and the officer took me to their oga, an elderly Hausa man with a very warm disposition. I again introduced myself and narrated my woes. I told him that I needed to conclude my mission in Kwara state before 1pm. He graciously agreed to help me but asked me to fuel one of their police cars for the journey. The town I was headed to was quite far from the capital. I happily agreed and he gave me a police car with one policeman as driver and another policeman as escort.

That was how I left Ilorin for my destination. I used N5000 from my 6k to fuel the car. On our way there were lots of police barricade but we had no problems at all. We passed through safely and the policemen waited for me till I concluded my business. Their presence even made the business easier. People treated me with so much respect meanwhile I had only 1k on me. I used up my remaining 1k in no time.

In the end, the policemen took me back to Ilorin with no money in my pocket. On our way I knew I needed to appreciate those guys but I had no money at all. I didn't even have transport fare to go back to Lagos. My plan was to charter a car from Ilorin to my house in Lagos and then pay the driver when we get to Lagos. I didn't know anywhere in Ilorin so I knew I still had to depend on these guys. Chaii!!! I felt it was very shameful after all the effiizy.

I was communicating with my wife all these while through bbm. She again encouraged me to be open with them. This time it was easy to agree with her. I opened up to the policemen and to my surprise they understood with me. I explained my plans to them but one of them insisted that my plan was expensive, that I could get back to Lagos cheaper. He suggested that I use regular transport. This guy drove me to one of his friends and borrowed 2k from him to give me. Mind you, this guy didn't know me from anywhere. It was weekend and he just begged me to pay back the money into his account on Monday. I was surprised. I took his account number and he drove me to the park where I boarded a bus to Ibadan and from Ibadan to Lagos.

The next Monday I payed the money into his account. I also paid in extra money for him in deep appreciation.

This is a true story. I felt a strong need to share this on NL in appreciation of any good policeman out there.

Seeking the Lord... Smh.. undecided how do you seek one that is omnipresent..?

Abi, is he playing hide and seek.. Help me understand please...

Omnipresent? Yes. But He is a spirit and makes Himself known only to those dt seek after Him.

Hide and seek? I think so too. I consider Him a game master.
Religion / Re: Paul: The False Apostle by davno: 11:08pm On Aug 19, 2014
I have no philosophical argument to make. What I do know is that in my journey of seeking the Lord, I have come to points where I disagreed with Paul, Peter, James and lots of contemporary pastors.

Jesus our savior is bigger than written accounts of men. In seeking him, a time will come when he becomes the sole focus. At that time, u will neither need Paul, James nor Peter.

Good evening!

I read through all ur PNNs and I agree that our God is highly to be praised.

We love to share wonderful testimonies but I believe that there are lots of lessons to be learnt from our desert and stormy experiences. Most of us fail to share from those times when the only thing we had to do was wait on d Lord. That said, this is one of my testimonies in honor of our Lord Jesus.

Years ago while studying abroad I ran out of cash. My academic schedule could not allow me to work and study. It was a bitter experience. All I wanted was to seek d face of d Lord but I had two room mates who were oblivious of my suffering. Both of them were noisy and carefree and I couldn't have a moment alone with d Lord. All I asked for was that Godwould give me an enabling condition for intimacy with him.

Cutting d long story short, I met a woman in church who out of nowhere asked me what I wanted. I innocently replied dt I needed to live alone away from d students' hostel. Miraculously she told me dt she would talk with her husband. The next day, she took me to a fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment that belonged to their family which nobody was using. Who said dt God doesn't have houses for His people?

God didn't stop there. With her husband's consent, this elderly woman would make food that would last for a week and keep it in my fridge. She would carry my clothes dt were heavier for d wahsing machine in my apartment and wash them with her own machine. It was amazing. This elderly couple had no child in their marriage. They treated me like their own child.

God didn't stop there either. Every week the woman's husband gave me a naira equivalent of 24,000 to be spent on whatever I chose. This went on for more than a year till I could support myself. Our God is really wonderful and still does miracles. I graduated with distinction from this foreign university. This is a true story!

USA, Canada, Japan, etc. These are countries without ebola yet they have experimental drugs for it.

Liberia, DRC and in fact the whole of Africa - ebola was discovered here but we have nothing for it. No vaccines, no research, no facilities and no conscience.

Life is tough on its own but life as a black man is really really pathetic.
