Been a while in here. Glad to see more PPRs, I pray many more comes ASAP.

Sooo.. please, guys I need help here:

What/where is the best (safest & cheapest) way to book flights for Canada. (also without any need for transit visas)
I need to book, but I don't even know if it's an agent or something that's best to use, gone through the thread but couldn't find any standard info on this.

Please any idea will help.

Update on this
Finally got the passport after little drama..lol.

So here's confirming that 2-WAY COURIER TO ABUJA seems way better than Lagos.
So @insanity's experience was likely unique to him.

Would drop an end-to-end detailing of my experience asap.

Thank you so so so so so much to the awesome guys helping everyone out on this platform, I really appreciate you, and I pray you meet helpers all along.
Can't wait to see the next set of approvals, and I pray it comes quicker than expected, everyone here go move las las.

davo99:
Yes, got the status update and a "Correspondence letter" that I think is the LOI.
But, hmm, are you sure VFS is responsible? 'cos one their mails said we should "buy services" for the return courier on their site.
Was thinking I should stay calling them to return it, cos I just chatted with @Insanity and he mentioned he paid for 2-way, but had to repay VFS for a fresh return courier. Hopefully, his experience is unique to him.

TheShaman:
Same four (4) mails from VFS then two (2) mails from DoNotReply about changes in my application (LOI and a status update). I believe DHL should receive the Passports today (COB) and back in Lagos tomorrow. VFS Abuja is definitely the best place to send passports to - everything has been less than a week (7 days) so far.

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by davo99: 11:24am On Jan 12, 2021
I've gotten 4 mails this morning from VFS, the mails are so vague and sound similar (last mail below), I tracked the return courier on DHL and saw that the package is yet to get to DHL, but it's clear that is it VFS right now.
I guess this is the time we call VFS to send it.
Summe:
I got the same update this morning, but I submitted to Lagos VAC, I hope it gets to Lagos on time.

Hello boss,
No I did not receive the NSE request. For how I went about it, the two links are below: mail I sent and the way it was sent.

https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/631#96682487

https://www.nairaland.com/6321900/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/89#97882672

I kept sending mails & webforms to Nairobi and Lagos, I'd advice you use the "mail scheduling" function on your email service. It helped me scheduled the mails to be sent in future dates. I did this because sometimes, one might be having a bad/busy day, so you'd probably not always be in the mood to write mails, so scheduling them for future dates cuts that stress out.

Weirdly, from all my plenty submissions via mail & webforms, they never acknowledged or updated my profile with any of the NSE docs I sent.

Celoexpress:
Hello Mr. Davo

Please did you receive the NSE request before sending these documents

If no, please how did you send the IELTS and Mybank certificate statement...was it uploaded via webforms to different countries or via emails to different country emails or you uploaded it on your gc key account. If any of these, please how did you go about it?

Nice, hopefully today. Tracking it on DHL's site like @Mcobex advised, I noticed it said "...the shipment has not yet been handed over to DHL" so I am wondering what that means, hopefully, it gets to DHL and then Lagos from today sha.

So counterfoil was updated on my profile today. Also got the mail below from VFS. So next thing is go get LOI.
Eligibility was updated as completed with today's date.
Hopefully, the passport comes tomorrow & LOI alongside.
Dear xyz,erere
The decision envelope for your application, tracking ID No. wrwxcvcrwwrw has been dispatched from the IRCC Office, to the Canada Visa Application Centre in Abuja CVO.

mcobex:
It actually depends on how busy they are. Lagos centre has more work load/applications compared to Abuja.
It usually takes between 3 to 5 working days to get your passport stamped, but it might take longer based on the number of applications being processed at the time.

Oh wooow.. This is my exact program @Carleton Uni (CU), feels great to finally see someone going there, 'cos I haven't seen anyone here going since.
Your GPA definitely qualifies you, and I think your certifications are sort of aligned too, because the TIM program @CU has some PM (Project mgt) elements. I really hope you get the admission to Carleton asap wink
Did you message the course administrator before applying?

Meanwhile, to your question, I don't think anything is guaranteed in terms of admission or visa approval, as sometimes a departmental course simply being filled-up might just be the reason for a rejection, that's why I asked if you mailed the course admin @CU before applying. while for the visa, I think it is up to you to craft a very clear vision of why you want to take the path you're taking and how it aligns to your career goals, dreams and aspirations. So yea, your SOP will really give you the best chances. Same thing applies to the Study-permit application, tell your story on why you really want to do the course, do research about past students & career options on graduation on the program's website & align it to your vision to score cheap points with the VO.

Success with both of them, though I hope to see you @CU more smiley.

Hello Fam,

I have applied for Masters in two universities in Canada: UniOttawa and Carleton University. The courses are Digital Transformation/Innovation and Technology Innovation Mgt respectively.

I graduated with 2.1 (GPA 3.9) in Marketing, and has worked for over 5 years as Executive Assistant, with a certification in Project Mgt; combined with training in Digital Marketing.

Please do you think my intended courses align fully well with my academic and professional background, to guarantee me admission and visa?

Thanks.

Please oh, somebody help your boy, or anyone got the typical timeline for Abj response? Everyone just said it's faster, didn't see any estimated timelines, asides someone that mentioned it's possible in 3 days.
I'm asking 'cos I just want to know when to start applying pressure or download that "Redial" app if need be or if it's IRCC I should be mailing. lol.

Thanks for helping out.

davo99:
Application update here.

So I sent my passport to Abj via DHL 2-way courier on the 6th of January (12:52pm), and nice enough, it was received at Abj by a "Kalu" on 7th January 10:43AM.

Now hours later, between 1:14pm to 1:16pm, I received 3 mails from VFS saying it was received and the last mail saying

"Your application, tracking ID No. Bleep has been received at the Canada Visa Application Centre, Abuja OC on 1/7/2021 12:16:10 PM and is in transit to the IRCC Office in Abuja OC for processing"

Now my question, it has been radio silence from the 7th, I was thinking there would be a mail from IRCC acknowledging that they received the passport, so I wanted to ask if this is the time to mail & call VFS or to mail IRCC.

Please what is the next expected sequence?
Thanks a lot in advance guys.

Wow.. thanks a lot, never thought of this. I will try it. Hopefully it works, $4k at a]CBN rate is huge savings
lasignor:
You and your spouse can get up to $8k (max of 4k per person) at official rates from the bank as PTA (nigeria factor go dey, be ready tp bribe somebody, lol). You need to show your visas and passports plus confirmation of accommodation bookings. It's hard but like I said, if you know your way, you will get it lol. $8k should keep you going for a while.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by davo99: 3:56pm On Jan 10, 2021
True, I think I remember seeing something like that on the old threads.
Frankrobbn1:

What you're saying on your CIC account is completely "Normal". When an application has been approved by IRCC, the profile of the applicant will still be reading "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements".

Nonetheless, upon the receipt of the counterfoil with the duration of your visa on your profile, the eligibility review and background check will be updated as completed with it's respective processing dates.

Watch out for the above changes soon!

It will end in praise

Same here oh, infact when PPR came, it didn't show as final decision did not show as "approved"
and as this minute it is still showing "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.", but the final decision has changed to as "approved", Also, I noticed that they didn't include the NSE docs I sent via mails.
awys:

Wait wait bro you mean they didn't update on your portal that " we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements" if this is so then what God cannot do doesn't exist does that mean they only review the NSE documents only infact this can only be God!!!

Rather than looking for the cheapest/easiest way, look for the safest way. There are a lot of scammers out there with very cheap rates. Some people just got scammed in recent times. BEWARE!!!.

Wow..crazy, just sad that people always find a way to scam people even when they can make a legit profit from it.

I was just considering the high black market rate.

Lol..I was hoping that there would be some mobile app that I can fund via my Naira account and get dollar in an account for cheap.

Anyways, Aboki dollar it is. smiley

Thanks a lot guys

yeankux:
can i attached my fixed deposit certificate to replace my savings bank statement , ?

Honestly, I don't know.

But note that the key reason for using MBS is that it cuts short the communication time that the embassy uses to verify that your account statement is valid from the bank. Cos the MBS is valid on sight, they don't have to do any back and forth with banks to confirm it's validity. They just login with the MBS pass-code you provide and they see your statement.

So if it's for NSE, using a fixed deposit, might just negate that advantage of speed.

P.S: Nothing is sure with this guys, so if you absolutely CAN NOT get the MBS, then you could as well just try the fixed deposit.

Good day everyone,
Please I wanted to ask, what's the cheapest/easiest way to source for USD or CAD while one is still in Nigeria? Especially if the person has a Nigerian dorm account.

Thanks for helping out

Do you know how long eligibility review takes?
There's typically no fixed time for eligibility review I believe, but I think it's good advice to order your GCSM online asap, in case you feel the eligibility is taking too much time.

I saw online somewhere where they said ordering a gcms can affect your application positively, as the person that's getting it would "bring your file to the surface" and it's likely to get actioned on based on that.

So sometimes before people get their GCSM notes, they'd have already gotten a reply or application update.
Not sure tho, as no two applications are the same. But it never hurts to try the gcms thingy for peace of mind.

In case anyone wants to send additional documents for the NSE, below is my sample mail I used sent to both the webforms & emails addresses.

Respected Sir/Ma,

I hope this mail meets you well.

My name is xyzz, I am contacting you with respect to a submitted Study-Permit application. My Application Number is xzy and Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number is abc.

I submitted the normal application documents, however on researching, I discovered the Nigerian Student Express (NSE) route and that it presented a faster route for processing applications.
Hence, I will be extremely grateful to have my application processed via the NSE route, as my school resumes January 2021.

To this effect, I have attached the two main documents (listed below) required for the NSE application route, alongside other supporting documents listed below:

1. MyBankStatement Certificate for my Sponsor (containing Ticket-number and password)
2. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Certificate (Overall Score of xyz)
3. School fees deposit evidence, Salary Account and professional certifications (files merged together).
4. Addendum to explain source of funds.

Thank you very much for taking your time to review my application. Have a wonderful day ahead.

Best Regards
Xyz

Please guys I need an answer

So it's actually a 1 year MBS statement I sent to them, not 6 months.
And also, the limits of the account balance in the account at the time of submission should be 30k CAD. Though it's just always safer to have in excess of 30K CAD, about 10m Naira or so.
As it's never a bad idea to have more than needed, just make sure you don't have less than 30k CAD.
