Yildiz: Are there clues to suggest the visa has been approved? Unfortunately for Schengen visa no clue. For UK, if Yiu get such a mail only from VFS without another mail from UKVI, then without collecting your passport you would have known that the visa is granted. For Schengen, they always attach refusal letter inside the envelope and you can't know until courier delivers your passport |

sanyaolurilwan: You should go when your visa is valid and all your first-degree family can also get 1yr tourist visa on arrival with your UK visa, but the UK visa must be valid. So August isn't an option, except you get another UK visa and use it again. My family would be coming in December, 2025 for holiday here, so I cant travel this December. Unfortunately, I have to jettison KSA. I don't have any intentions to visit the UK until 2026. Hence, I am not reapplying until then. I will just do my second UK trip in April and leave travels till 2026, by resting |

Africankel: I don't think the e-visa still works. About a year ago I needed to travel for business, so I went to the embassy in Abuja to enquire. The gentleman who attended to me said they no longer issued business visas (not sure if this includes tourism). He however advised that I reached out to my business partners in KSA to speak with the MFA who'd in turn reach out to the embassy in Nigeria to issue me a visa. Alternatively, if I had a visa for the UK, US, Canada or Schengen, I could get visa on arrival. So I had to travel using my Canadian visa. I was in KSA in 2022 to participate in this conference https://www.ivc-forum.org/Those of us there were nonmuslims couldn't use Umrah Visa. Hence the MFA and the organizers wrote letters to the KSA embassy in Abuja and we sent our passport to Abuja, then got a sticker visa. Business Visa then was about N2million valid for 1 year. We were told that E visa is not allowed for Nigerian passport holders. With this situation in view, I would jettison the idea of KSA for now, as I already booked ticket for Easter to spend 7 days in London. If it was about using the visa once, already used it in December, 2024 having entered and exited the UK this January, 2025 |

sanyaolurilwan: Apply for Saudi online, you would wait forever to be approved, but you can get visa on arrival, I applied online, it wasn't approved, then I got visa on arrival at the port of entry. I was told to cancel the online application and request for refund.
Qatar: I heard they have cancelled that for Nigerians, you can only apply through accredited agents, not sure how true it is. Ive been to Saudi Arabia before, but just want to get for my family. My UK visa expires in June and I want to visit Riyadh around August. How feasible is the visa on arrival, considering that my UK visa would have expired at the time of entry? What's your experience with this? |

Stick with your visit visa and when you get in, do whatever you like. Me that travelled to NI didn't have to tell anyone during application. If you have Nigerian visa, you can come in via Lagos and travel to Anambra to enquire about schools then return back to your country |

Secondly, do you advice we upload my documents myself or use the services of the visa office. What are the likely challenges or requirements if I opt to upload them myself.
Thanks At least 2 of us did that last year November and both families were granted. Same documents were uploaded for husband, wife and kids. There's a part in the online application form that you'll be asked details of your spouse and if she's traveling with you. You'll see where to include her Passport number. In the part of additional information, you'll state it there as well |

racerve: Gurus in the house, I’m hoping someone can help me clarify an odd situation with my wife’s visa application.
I'm an EU citizen currently based in Nigeria, and we're applying for a short-stay visa for my wife.
She submitted the application a couple days ago, and we just received an email from the french consulate asking her to contact the "embassy lawyer" to authenticate our Nigerian marriage certificate (see the attached pics below).
After reaching out to the provided contact, the supposed lawyer has sent an invoice of 350k for authentication.
I'm pretty sure this is a scam, but the original email came from a legit address. Her application status on the TLS website still shows In Progress.
Has anyone received a similar request before? Have you contacted the embassy if this is from them? That's the first step |

Cashmadam: 4. I don't mean to put down some banks but personally, I stick to well known and reputable banks - especially when applying for any kind of visa. Many of the visa people know banks that are reputable and most times don't bother to cross check your account statement from such banks as they know the banks will not be involved in any shady transactions. However, they are wary of most "tier 2 banks" and will most likely check out your statement - especially for a first time applicant. Not common with frequent travellers. Next time, use a tier one bank - a bank with foreign affliation if possible. I will refrain from mentioning names so it doesn't look like I'm promoting certain banks Providus is one of the best banks in Nigeria as of today. Top 7, you'll find Providus I guess, just as you said, overkill and bulky documents may have been a factor |

xeexee7: What should I have done differently? What should I do in my next application? Everything discussed here several times and people are warned about is what just played out here. It's better for you not to apply at all, than applying on a faulty foundation. 1. You work and earn ₦300,000. You want to leave this job for a while 28 days to another person's country, without having enough, as you're being sponsored. This means your own income cannot sustain you for the 28 days but that of your sponsor 2. This same issue of large deposits came up. Can you all not always clean your accounts? If an account is tagged salary account, let only your salary drop and if anything else must drop, you have to explain. 3. Officer mentioned immigration history. Have you travelled out of Nigeria before? Have you also been refused entry to UK before? |

Nysckits: Dear All, please everyone, all of you with a proposed solution.
I am completely at a loss and don’t know what to do anymore.
After thorough investigation, I have discovered that the error was from the UK embassy. I was shown the exact statement sent to Providus Bank for verification, and here is what happened:
I submitted two business accounts (both with Providus Bank) and clearly explained the details of both in my Letter of Explanation (LOE). My main account has over 1,500 pages, while the sub-account has about 38 pages. Due to the large volume of pages, the UK embassy extracted only the first two pages of my main account statement (which included the correct heading, date range, available balance, and all relevant details). However, they mistakenly combined it with the last two pages of my sub-account, which has a significantly lower balance.
The embassy then sent this mismatched document to Providus Bank for verification along with other inquiries. Providus Bank responded accurately based on the information they received. However, the last two pages (from the sub-account) did not contain an account number or balance at the top—it was simply merged with the first two pages from the main account.
One of the key questions from the UK embassy was for Providus Bank to confirm the opening and closing balance of my account. Providus confirmed the opening balance but couldn’t verify the closing balance since it wasn’t from the same account, and they responded accordingly.
I HAVE ALL MY EVIDENCE, INCLUDING THE BANK STATEMENT THE UK EMBASSY SENT TO PROVIDUS BANK FOR CONFIRMATION. I am now stuck in a devastating situation due to an error I did not commit, and the worst part is that I have no way to reach out to the UK embassy for further clarification.
P.S.: I have reconfirmed the exact document I uploaded on the VFS portal, and I am 100% certain about its accuracy.
Please, I need urgent help. Except you did not PDF each document and saved with different file names, they will never do what you just alleged that they take one document and add to another I submitted 3 different accounts 1 company (separate file) 1 company (separate file) 1 savings personal (separate file) All labelled separately in separate file names in 3 attachments in PDF, that they cant mix up If you merged two accounts together in a single file, then you are to blame or the VFS/TLS that scanned for you. It is your duty to package yourself very well |

Nysckits giselle237 Cashmadam
Just to share this again on UKVI reaching out and the style they use, that can make people speak erroneously
I remember when putting out our application in November last year, I stated that we were not paying for accommodation, as I would be staying with my elder bro for some days and others with my uncle.
When were gisting on 24th December, 2024 in Essex he said he received a call with private number and the conversation goes thus
Caller with Private number: Hi, Are you expecting anyone in your house? Response: No, I am not expecting any visitor. May I know who I am speaking with? (the person still did not talk) Caller with Private number: Are you sure no one is coming? Response: Coming from where and to do what? Caller with Private number: Did you invite anyone to the UK? Response: Yes, of course I did, my younger brother and his family. May I now know who I am speaking with? Caller with Private number: This is a call from UKVI calling to confirm if you actually invited anyone and you are ready to host them, be the guarantor, to assure us they would not remain in the UK illegally after visa expiration Response: He responded and told them many stories including what I do, my company profile and involvement with so top British Oil Companies, that with what I do, it would be silly of him to even attempt to remain illegal
Call ends and few days later, we got a mail from TLS to come pick up
The way they ask questions can make respondents loose guard. My brother, he wanted to hang up, since the called ID was hidden
In this case of Nysckits, they may have told Providus a wrong name due to pronunciation and Providus may have said that the name is different and the balance in that person's account is not same as what they have given.
The issue should not be entirely on the Bank.
However, when applying, make sure any information you are stating is the fact and that anyone you drop their contacts, have communication with them, as UKVI may choose to call for confirmation. |
