A cable available to Southwark Crown Court, UK has revealed how a former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, was code-named “Fortunato” by Italian accomplices in the $1.1 million Malabu deal.
Italian authorities investigating the mega deal had provided evidence to the court indicating the involvement of the former president.
The court, presided by Justice Edis, said based on the evidence presented before it, “Fortunato”, meaning “the lucky one” in Italian, was implicated in the deal.
“The suggestion from the wiretaps is that “Fortunato” was implicated and I am told that this was a reference in code (not subtle) to the former President of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan,” the judge said.
By this revelation, “Fortunato”, is added to the long list of names Nigerians call the former president.
The court however refused to release the remaining balance of $85 million (N17 billion) to Malabu for the sell of Africa’s richest oil bloc, OPL 245 to oil giants Shell and ENi.

The Nigeria Police said it had deployed 3,000 officers as “holding force” to restore civil authority to the liberated areas in the North-East.
The Inspector -General of Police (I-G), Mr Solomon Arase, disclosed this at the End of Year Commissioners of Police Conference held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
“The Force has deployed 3,000 officers as holding forces to the liberated areas in the North-East with the task of restoring civil authority.
“It is pertinent to note that the Force has been fighting side by side the Military in the counter-insurgency operation in the North-East,” he said.
He stressed that the Police was making efforts to expand the deployment to cover all other theatres of insurgency in the region.
“In this critical national assignment, some gallant officers have paid the supreme sacrifice,” he said.
He added that the force has dismissed 51 officers for corrupt practices, while 56 others had been made to face diverse punishments.
“Between May and November, the anti-corruption enforcement architecture emplaced by the Force leadership has led to the dismissal of 51 personnel for proven corrupt practices while another 56 have been awarded various punishments,” he said.
He said that Monitoring Unit; X-Squad and the Provost Marshal have been charged to sustain the enforcement drive in the upcoming year.
The I-G assured that the policy of holding Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, liable for professional misconduct would be re-enforced.
He absolved the Force from acts of violence during the Bayelsa State governorship election.
Arase explained that Police did what was expected of them and should not be blamed for problems created by politicians. “In fact, I have written letters of appreciation and recommendation for the Police on duty during the election,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Police high command has launched scholarship awards to 301 children of personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
“They shall not walk alone. We, as their commanders and colleagues, will do everything within our professional powers to keep their invaluable dreams alive and support the family they left behind.
He said that the force would reward the families of serving police officers that kept faith with the vision of the force.
Arase urged individuals and corporate organisations to support the gesture, adding that it would add value to the future of the children and serve as a source of encouragement for officers to perform better.

I repeat the U.SA is a christian country but it isn't stated in their constitution, and they allow freedom of worship, which is not so in ANY Islamic country whose system of government is the sharia law. Tell me,why is there death sentence for apostates? why is it forbidden to be seen with a bible in public in Islamic countries? why is there no church in Saudi Arabia?

A counsel to the State Security Service, SSS, Mosses Idakwo, on Monday told a Federal High Court in Abuja that the director of a pirate radio station, Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was sponsoring terrorism against Nigeria.
Mr. Idakwo asked the court to disregard a bail application by Mr. Kanu’s counsel, Vincent Obeta, as the matter involving his client was terrorism-related.
He said the SSS had evidence of bank accounts owned by the accused person where monies (both in dollars and pound sterling) were allegedly used for financing acts of terrorism against the country.
Mr. Idakwo told the court that Mr. Kanu had dual citizenship of Britain and Nigeria and therefore could flee and escape justice if granted bail.
He also said the bail conditions issued by the magistrate court were yet to be perfected by Mr. Kanu, who is also the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB).
But counsel to Mr. Kanu dismissed the SSS claims on the grounds that they were speculative.
He told the court that his client had long offered to meet the financial requirement by the Abuja Geographical Information System, AGIS, for ascertaining the authenticity of the properties belonging to the surety, but that his offer was rejected by the SSS.
Mr. Obeta told the court that the SSS had on four occasions flouted the order of the magistrate court, adding that an order had since been given for his client’s release on bail.
He said the request by the SSS to further detain Mr. Kanu for another 90 days, as provided by Section 27 of the Terrorism Prevention Act, was a negation of his client’s right.

Mr. Obeta also said his client had been in detention for 90 days.
After hearing the arguments of the two counsel regarding the bail application, the judge said he would look into the matter, setting aside Thursday, December 17, to deliver ruling on Mr. Kanu’s bail.
Mr. Kanu had been in detention at the SSS cell since his arrest in October by the secret service operatives.

The Nigerian Army on Saturday stated its reason for attacking members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.
The Army had on Saturday said the group blocked the road and attempted to kill the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, in Kaduna State.
In a statement on Sunday by its spokesperson, Sani Usman, the Army described the incident as ‘most unfortunate’ but blamed the sect for blocking roads meant for the public.
“Yesterday’s incident involving clashes between detachments of the Nigerian Army, accompanying the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General TY Buratai and followers of Sheikh Ibrahim El Zak-Zaky, suspected to be members of the Shiite Sect in Zaria, leading to loss of lives as a result of the Shiite group members’ blocking roads and not allowing other passers-by to go about their lawful businesses and activities, was most unfortunate,” Mr. Usman, a Colonel, said.
“The Nigerian Constitution guarantees the rights of any group of persons and Sheikh El Zak Zaky’s followers to hold a peaceful march or procession unhindered, but it also guarantees other people’s rights of way on public highways. It is important to note that over the years this group has subjected ordinary citizens using public roads to untold hardship, delays, threats and disruption simply because they insist on using public space irrespective of inconvenience and hardship on other law abiding citizens and motorists.
This cannot be tolerated and must stop!
“As soon as order is restored to the situation in Zaria city and its environs, the police will conduct an enquiry and the public will be informed.
“In the meantime, the public is advised to go about their lawful business and report any suspicious persons or incidents to the police,” the Nigerian Army said.
Mr. Usman did not give details of the various attacks or whether Mr. Zakzaky had been arrested or not.
The Islamic Movement has said its members were unarmed and that soldiers attacked its members in three different parts of Kaduna including Mr. Zakzaky’s home.
The Shiite group said the son and wife of Mr. Zakzaky were among ‘hundreds’ of its members killed by the soldiers.

The 'German Juice' singer who listed among the nominees for the 2015 Headies prize for the Next Rated award category along with Lil' Kesh and others, is not happy with Davido for making his preference known.`

It will be recalled that on Sunday, October 18, Davido, in a show of solidarity endorsed Lil' Kesh when he tweeted at the YBNL singer and told him to pull a Kanye West at the upcoming Headies if he doesn’t win the ‘Next Rated’ award.

Davido was referring to the 2009 MTV VMAs when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s speech.
However, Davido’s choice has upset Cynthia Morgan.

While other artistes who were nominated in that category ignored the tweet, the Morgan who stumbled upon it will not take it lying down with Davido.
