The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday arrested top officials of the Adamawa State University for selling a N13 million government-owned Toyota Land Cruiser as scrap.
The commission’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest in a telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr. Uwujaren said the vice chancellor of the university, Shall David Joshua, and the bursar, K.E. Anjili, were among those arrested.
“Our operatives in Yola, Adamawa State today arrested top officials of the Adamawa State University for questioning over the sale of a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser jeep as scrap to the former FRSC boss, Haladu
PREMIUM TIMES had on August 6 reported how a former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Haladu Hananiya, paid N150,000 for a new Toyota Land Cruiser SUV worth N13 million.
Mr. Hananiya is alleged to have used his position as former Chairman, Governing Council of the Adamawa State University, ADSU, to convert the vehicle to his personal property.
The university bought the vehicle on January 28, 2015, several months after the former FRSC boss ceased to be chairman of the institution’s board.
Seven days later, the car was passed to Mr. Hananiya who bought it off as scrap, paying a only N150, 000.
Mr. Hananiya was appointed chairman of ADSU governing council on August 16, 2014.
About two months into his four-year tenure; the state government sacked the board on October 8, 2014.
Investigation showed that the vehicle was purchased from AS Galadima Motors, located at Dawaki Junction, opposite Charley Boy Bus Stop, Kubwa Express Way, Abuja, with receipt number 0006 and sales invoice no: 0106.
A petition sent to the EFCC said that prior to Mr. Hananiya’s appointment, the university’s management passed a resolution empowering principal officers to retain official vehicles after paying the scrap value of N150, 000.
“Principal officers are entitled to retain their official vehicles once during their tenures after paying the scrap value of N150, 000; and if for any reason an officer leaves office after spending two years or half of the tenure, he shall pay the scrap value of N150, 000,” part of the resolution reads.

This argument would have been Valid if PMB was cut with the same cloth as JONA, but we all know that isn't so!!!

We are a multi ethnic,& diverse & mutually distrusful lots, so appintments should follow that pattern so everyone will be able to identify with the govt & have confidence of equal representation, that's all!!

My grouse with PMB's appts (no complaint about the CVs of the appointee) so far is that the tag of blind tribalism that he was given that was so hard to surmount in 3 failed bids is what we (unapologetic stan) are still being asked to explain everyday!!!

Anyway, I decided long ago to be on the side of Nigeria & not any politician (at the end of the day 99.9% of them are not worth it) so ...
I feel your pain bro, I understand you well. Technically all the few appointment PMB has make so far, u will realised beside the Custom boss that the juicy position was given to the SS and SW, NNPC and FIRS! Now I have said to my self, over 100 appointment are still coming so why the worries? Ministerial, Ambassadors, DGs, Permanent Secretary, Etc... a lot of them, why can't wailers be patient? The thing is Buhari doesn't give a fu*k about noise makers

If the argument is sacrosanct, why did our founding fathers put the clause of federal character in our statute books. The failure of Jonathan does not justify the neglect of a whole geo pol zone in 31 appointments of a president that belongs to everybody and belongs to nobody. Who is fooling who please? These things are human, giving all a sense of belonging; does not prevent focused development.

palymarsha:
This appointment confirms why I was undecided in the last election.
It is true the JEG was corrupt, a reason Nigeria needed a change.

But the question is WHO should be the change?
Certainly not BUHARI. A man who said that the North should rise and take back their country.

He is more northern than being more Nigerian. History confirms that.

What we the Yorubas fail to understand is that the Igbos knows much of these Hausas than us.
An Hausa/Fulani man has a born to rule mentality. Winner takes it all mentality. Domination mentality.

How come Buhari is angry at Saraki but not at Dogara? Simply because the former has a core Hausa man as an alternative.
The plan is to consolidate every strong positions in case of any eventuality.
I bet you, If anything happen to Buhari today, they will rise and impeach Osibanjo tomorrow.

Strong positions are now finshed. He will now nominate the southerners for ministerial positions. What a Bleep?

We Yourubas would have clamoured for true Federalism than support these cows.
Tinubu this is a mistakeeeooooh!!!

I wish one day, Igbos and Yorubas will come to have a common ground in politics. It will surely stop this Hausa
oligarchy mentality.Even the Obasanjo presidency was highjacked by the Hausas and they made sure that he
paid more attention to them than his kinsmen. We need a popular president for progress not just the uncorupt. We must clamour for someone
with both qualities.

To me, this BUHARI will divide us more than we have been united. My kinsmen wouldnt have gone into this alliance.

Anyway let us pray for a properous country but if we cant be together let us quickly divide.
I am very sure that we Yorubas a base Nigerian economy will survive most.

TIME TO LISTEN TO THE Biafra CAMPAIGNERS JAREEEEE!

President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in the new Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, who was appointed last week.
The president also inaugurated the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, and the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina.
The event took place at the council chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Mr. Buhari has come under fire for appointing mostly people from Nigeria’s northern region, to top positions.
Criticisms grew last week after the appointment of Mr. Lawal and five others, with only one of the nominees from the south.
The appointments followed a pattern that has seen at least 75 per cent of top government officials, from the north.
The presidency has denied any sectional agenda, and has assured that no part of the country will be marginalised in subsequent appointments.
Mr. Buhari did not comment on the controversy on Monday after swearing in the new officials. He did not give any remarks.
But speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the SGF, Mr. Lawal, said they were not appointed because of their places of origin.
“We did not have to pass examination to get appointed into these positions,” he said. “(It was) not because of our tribes, or our faiths, or our political groups that we were considered worthy for these positions.
“If it is such, I am sure none of us would have been considered worthy of these appointments. We appreciate the president and we appreciate God that he has blessed us with these privileged appointments,” Mr. Lawal said.

PoliticsAmaechi Reveals Why Jonathan, Patience, Wike Failed To Remove Him As Rivers Gov by dayo23(op): 2:23pm On Aug 31, 2015
The immediate past governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, has noted that but for the prayers said on his behalf by priests and other Christians, he would have become a former governor long ago. This was as he claimed that former President, Goodluck Jonathan, his wife: Patience and the present Governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, wanted him removed before the expiration of his tenure at all costs.

The embattled former Governor made this known yesterday while speaking at the dedication service of Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Elechi Beach, Port Harcourt, which was attended by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, former commissioner for Information, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, former Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon Tony Okocha, among others.

According to Amaechi, “I want to thank the priests, almost all of you were praying for me. If not for your prayers, I would probably have been a former governor a long time ago. The president wanted me out at all cost; the present governor wanted me out at all cost and the wife of the president wanted me out at all cost. They did everything they did. Let me say one thing; they had everything except God.

“When I landed at the airport, I saw soldiers but I said I did not need them. When they were in power, they were using soldiers to chase us about. In the present government, that will not continue. You don’t solve impunity; if they had impunity before, we will have rule of law now. I thank all of you publicly for the support and prayers,” he stated.
