The passport posted on the Internet indicated that Nigerian’s name is Ibrahim Adeola; his date of birth is May 24, 1979; he was born in Imo state. The Punch reports that the Nigerian was abducted by ISIS along with a Ghanaian, Kofi Sekyere and an Egyptian, Bekhit Ebeid. President Muhammadu Buhari has said that despite the heavy security cordon around him, he is not protected. Buhari who made this known while granting audience to the Muslim community in the Federal Capital Territory that paid him the traditional Sallah homage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday said only God can protect him. Buhari was narrating his experience earlier in the day when youths who were desperate to see him at the prayer ground located on the Airport Road during the Eid-el-Fitri prayers, almost overwhelmed security operatives. He said, “I thank you most sincerely for fulfilling the tradition of greetings whoever occupies this place. I thank you very much for your loyalty to the country, as represented by our institutions and to the system. “Today, during and immediately after the prayers, I think I was bombarded by the youths, who almost overwhelmed the security, and I had to hold tight to my gown to get to my car. “I was advised to enter the car from the ADC side and I refused. I went across trying to wave my hand to the wild youths, who wanted to see me. “On an occasion like this, it shows that after what happened to (former) President Ronald Reagan of the USA, it is only God Almighty that protects leaders because in a mob like this, anybody with a sharp knife can get access and do a lot of damage. “So, all the policemen that were deployed and soldiers since 6 o’clock in the morning, before I came out two hours later in the rains, cannot protect you; only God protects. I hope God will continue to protect us.” Read full story here: http://www.today.ng/news/security-operatives-are-not-capable-of-protecting-me-buhari/

A strategy and innovation expert, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, has advised former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, to make his memo on security, especially regarding Boko Haram insurgency, confidential to President Muhammadu Buhari Ibrahim, who said Buhari had not contradicted any strategic rule of engagement, explained that the president’s brief to Nigerians, creating hope to end the intractable Boko Haram crisis, was perfectly within acceptable global strategic standard. He added that the strategic drivers in the security challenge were not revealed by the president to the public, stressing that “the military orchestrated conductors in the Boko Haram insurgency; the military architects and the military chess masters were not put in the open by President Buhari.” Consequently, Ibrahim urged the former president to channel his security strategy memo to the Presidency in a confidential manner in the future. “This becomes important as a result of the subject matter of the memo,” he stressed. He cited the American strategy on Vietnam war, which the United States of America lost, saying it was because American Generals were making open their strategic engagement rules. According to him, “as the war became intensified in Vietnam, many Generals were exchanging memos on their war strategies on the pages of newspapers, without addressing the solutions to the war, which was eventually lost, leading to unquantifiable loss in American society.” Ibrahim said for every nation which plans to make success of its security challenges, its war Generals must communicate their strategic engagement memos in confidential manner. The business icon told the former military president that merely advising President Buhari on the strategic contents on Boko Haram crisis on the pages of newspapers had rendered such advice “useless, intimidating and capable of misinterpreting government policy.” He advised leaders to always make a priority in channelling their concerns about security in a confidential manner if the desired results were to be achieved. The business mogul stressed that the take-off strategy adopted by President Buhari in the war against Boko Haram was in the best interest of Nigerians, adding that the government required time to consolidate and settle down. He said the President owed Nigerians a duty to inform the country on how best he intended to tackle the Boko Haram crisis, which had become a major security challenge in the country. According to him, the expectation of Nigerians from a president who was retired as a General in the army and a former head of state, and who has commanded various battalions and army formations, is to fix the security challenge in no time.
