PoliticsHow Tinubu And Akande Boycotted APC NEC Meeting by dayo23(op): 3:14am On Jul 04, 2015
There are strong indications that the crisis in the All Progressives Congress is far from over as two influential leaders of the party, boycotted the National Executive Committee meeting attended by President Muhammadu Buhari today, July 3.

A former governor of Lagos state, Ahmed Tinubu, and the party’s former interim chairman, Bisi Akande, shunned the party’s meeting on Friday, raising fears that the party may be nowhere near resolving a leadership crisis.

However, in the absence of both leaders (Tinubu and Akande), President Buhari appealed to APC members to respect the supremacy of the party and allow the“system to work”.

Addressing journalists on the absence of Tinubu and Akande, the APC national publicity secretary, Lai Mohammed, said invitation to the meeting was at the discretion of the national working committee of the APC, or its executive committee.

He said the leaders were not members of the party’s exco, as such, it was the discretion of the APC working committee to decide who to invite.

Mohammed will, however, dodge a question by a reporter who reminded him that identification tags for Tinubu had been seen at the venue of the meeting, Premium Times reports.

The media outfit confirmed that Tinubu was in the country as of Friday.

At the end of the meeting, Mohammed said all sides had agreed that the party was supreme, and must be respected.

“Also, it is important to let you know that everybody in the party is united on two issues which are party supremacy and the need to ensure that this government deliver its campaign promises,” Mohammed said.

But when asked if recognising the supremacy of the party implied that the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives would adopt the nominees of the party as principal officers, Mohammed said talks were still ongoing.

“The president said he believes in party supremacy, we have a problem on our hands and we must find the best means to resolve it. One thing I can assure you is that, this house (the APC) shall not fall.

“It is for the interest of everyone who voted for change. I would not want to go into the nitty-gritty of what the resolution will be because as I speak for now I don’t know. When you talk about party’s supremacy, it is derived from the constitution,” he said.

PoliticsAnother Boko Haram Attack Leaves 97 Dead In Kukawa by dayo23(op): 2:50am On Jul 04, 2015
No less than 97 people were killed and several others injured when Boko Haram terrorists attacked Kukawa town of Kukawa local government area of Borno State.

A resident of Kukawa, Alhaji Abor Babagana, who fled to Maiduguri, said over 50 suspected members of Boko Haram stormed Kukawa town at about 6.30pm on Tuesday and open fire on people killing 97, while several others were injured.

He said “The terrorists first descended on Muslim worshippers in various mosques, who were observing the Magrib prayers shortly after breaking their fast. The insurgents rounded up about four different community mosques and opened fire on the worshippers who are mostly men and children.

“They spared nobody; in fact, while some of the terrorists waited and set most of the corpses on fire, others proceeded to houses and shot indiscriminately at women who were preparing food,” he added.

Another bereaved resident who lost his uncle, Garba Kolomi said “They wiped out the immediate family of my uncle. They killed his children, about five of them and set his entire house ablaze”.

A fisherman from the area, Alhaji Saleh Idi, who corroborated that 97 people had been killed, alleged that the attackers spent over four hours without any attempt by security forces to intervene.
“There was no single soldier in Kukawa when the terrorists came around 6.30pm. The soldiers were in Kuros-Kawwa which is just 11 kilometers away. The terrorists stole assorted food from houses and homes and then set everything ablaze. They left around 11 pm,” he said.

Kukawa which is about 178 kilometres away from Maiduguri was severely attacked in 2014, a situation which forced most residents to flee to Maiduguri and other villages across the Lake Chad.

Most of the locals, especially the fishermen and farmers among them returned to the ancient town early this year.

Another resident of Kukawa Alhaji Audu Kukawa told our correspondent that the insurgents came in Hilux vehicles.
He said “I personally counted 97 corpses and as I am speaking to you, we have not buried the dead ones”.

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have gruesomely murdered an Igbo businessman identified as Chijoke Ngwu Ogbodo alongside his wife in Katsina.

The couple who hail from Nkanu Local Government Area of Enugu State went the wrong hands of the suspected Fulani herdsmen in the presence of their children on Monday.

It was gathered that the assailants clubbed and butchered the couple with a machete before shooting them at close range.

DAILY POST gathered that the corpses of the couple have been removed from their residence along the Katsina Bypass and have been deposited at the State mortuary.

Some leaders of the Igbo community in the State have however expressed fear over the ability of the police to bring the perpetrators to justice.

PoliticsRise Against Boko Haram, Buhari Urges Muslims by dayo23(op): 1:36am On Jul 04, 2015
Against the backdrop of the incessant terrorism attacks in Nigeria and the world over, President Mohammadu Buhari yesterday urged the Muslim community to make a strong statement that would condemn the activities of insurgents.
According to the president, speaking with one voice was a sure way of rejecting the attackers claim of acting in the name of Islam, stressing that it would also stop the abasement of their religion.
This is even as Buahri called on the international community to unite and forge a stronger worldwide consensus for more effective action against global terrorism.
The president’s injunctions came on the heels of the killing of about 150 men, women and children in Kukawa, Borno state on Thursday and also the recent murder of Egyptian Attorney General, Hesham Barakat, and the killing of about 70 Egyptian soldiers in the Sinai Peninsula by terrorists.
While strongly condemning the act, Buhari in separate statements issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in Abuja further stated that it was “a very heinous atrocity which must be unreservedly condemned by all people of conscience.”
He conveyed  his heart-felt condolences to families of the victims of Boko Haram’s dreadful killings in Kukawa just as he also condoled the government of Egypt and the families of the victims, reaffirming “Nigeria’s commitment to working with other countries facing terrorists’ threats to overcome the scourge of violent extremism.”
The President added that “no country can afford to be indifferent to the threats of terrorism because of its pervasive and destructive nature.”
Buhari had made tackling insurgency a campaign issue and since he assumed office as President, he has focused on the menace more than any problem facing the country.  But the terrorists have continued their attacks on Nigerians and their North-East region, killing and destroying people and properties.

FamilySHOCKER !!! Mother And Daughter Gives Birth Same Week For The Same Man (Photo) by dayo23(op): 1:13am On Jul 04, 2015
A South African woman, Mildred Mashego, and her daughter Patricia, have entered the record books as the first mother and daughter to give birth to their babies in the same week and for the same man.
Times Live reports that 38-year-old Mashego of Casteel, South Africa, was pregnant when she learned that her 19-year-old daughter was also pregnant, and the two were due just days apart.
But her anger turned to shock when she found out that the man responsible for her daughter’s condition was the same man who was going to be the father of her child,Vincent Malumane.
Patricia was the first to put to bed a bouncing baby boy, with her mother following suit four days after, wait for it, another boy, making them brothers, a nephew, an uncle and grandson.

The sharp shooter Vincent Malumane, admitted that he secretly had s*x with the mother and daughter.
“I cannot go back now and explain what happened. All we have to do is focus on making sure that the children are properly cared for.”
Mother Mildred admits that during her pregnancy, she was bitter that her daughter had slept with her boyfriend and had even considered having an abortion over the fact that her daughter was carrying a child from the same man.
However, after their babies were born, Mildred decided to forgive her daughter for the sake of her grandson. They are raising their children together.
The mother and daughter are concerned about what they will tell their children when they grow up.

The new head of the State Security Service, Lawal Daura, appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari, will act in that capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Director General, the Head of Service has said.

Mr. Daura was appointed Thursday by the president after he fired the former DG, Ita Ekpenyong, who is accused partisanship.

The first announcement from the Head of Service, Danladi Kifasi, said President Buhari appointed “Lawal Musa Daura as the new Director General Department of State Security Service”.

The statement, signed by Haruna Imrana, for the head of service, said the appointment was with “immediate effect”.

However, the Head of Service issued a second statement late Thursday amid controversy over the appointment, after it became clear the president recalled Mr. Daura, his kinsman, from retirement, ahead of other qualified personnel still in the service.

“President Muhamadu Buhari has appointed Lawal Musa Daura as the new acting Director General Department of State Security Service,” the statement said.

Neither statements acknowledged Mr. Daura had left the service before his appointment.
PREMIUM TIMES reported Thursday that he retired from the SSS in 2013.

Mr. Daura was born in Daura, Katsina state, and was at one time the Deputy Director Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre at the Presidential Villa Abuja between 2003 and 2007.

He also served as the State Director of Security Service at various times in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun and Imo States.
