coogar: consider what?
another one of those silly myths with no iota of truth in them. di matteo lost to newcastle at the bridge last season with a strong team - what's the excuse? di matteo crashed chelsea in the group stage of the champs league this season - what did he concentrate on then? supercup? di matteo got destroyed by athletico madrid in the supercup, what distracted him then? the community shield? continue to make silly excuses for a stüpid manager!
The Chelsea squad that faced Liverpool on May 8 compare that to the Chelsea team that played the FA cup final vs the same Liverpool.

Ok you mean Di Matteo should win EVERY competition he plays in Like which manager? He won FA cup, Won CL, lost Super cup

You failed to tell us what improvement Rafa has been to the team
PoliticsRe: PDP vs APC - 2015 Projection Model by dayokanu(m): 12:06am On Feb 08, 2013
Paentera: @OP, here is my analysis:

APC will present a Northern candidate to sweep the Northern votes. If that candidate is Buhari, a candidate from the SE in the mould of Sen. Ngige (ACN) who has clout in Anambra and is widely respected in the SE, would give the APC wider recognition in the SE and set up the PDP votes in that region to be split.

Now the deal APC needs to make to show how serious about capturing power is to make a very sincere offer to the SE by assuring them of the Presidential candidacy come 2019. This timetable would mean a Buhari candidacy would guarantee 12m+ votes in the N.W, NC and possibly NW while sweeping most votes of the SW leaving a splintered SE but solid SS bloc for the PDP.

On the other hand, the PDP will need to play musical chairs with their candidates esp their VP pick (I have no doubt that GEJ will contest in 2015) and to strike a blow to APC, will need to find a very popular Northerner who can deliver votes, if only to halve the support of Buhari. This person must be widely respected with a strong followership base who needs to pay for his supporters, but has immense respect. I am tempted to say Dangote, but I am certain Mr Aliko will for nothing in this world, soil his hands by going into politics.

This is my analysis and is open to further discussion. Please avoid insults but stick to explanation of how your analysis would play out in 2015.
This is faulty because Ngige can net deliver the SE for the APC.

Also where do you think the SW would go in this situation? Why should anyone deliver their 6 states to you when they have no stake in the alliance?

Tinubu/ACN might deliver 6 states if included in the ticket, ngige can not even guarantee his own state or anywhere else if included in the ticket.
PoliticsRe: PDP vs APC - 2015 Projection Model by dayokanu(m): 11:28pm On Feb 07, 2013
danjohn: Dayokanu, please play with the model. If Jonathan gets 97& or 98% of the votes in the SS and SE as he did in 2011, and if voter turnout in those two regions are the same as they were in 2011, it will be impossible for him to lose the election. That being said, Jonathan won the SS and SE by astronomical margins because the opposition did not campaign there. In Nigeria, it is easier to rig an election when your opponent has no supporters on ground to cry foul.

GEJ has been a disappointing president and I am sure that 15% - 20% of SS and SE voters will vote for another candidate if that candidate states his or her case. Please remember that in an election where the popular vote determines the winner you do not ignore any voter.
Also assume the turnout in the SW numbers for APC is anywhere close to that of 1999 for Falae or 2003 for OBJ and tell me how the total numbers would look
PoliticsRe: PDP vs APC - 2015 Projection Model by dayokanu(m): 10:10pm On Feb 07, 2013
Afam4eva: Buhari has learned his lessons from previous elections where he had a huge following in the North but an abysmal showing in the south. Though things got better in every election and he came closer in the last one. He may also come closer but not nick it if he doesn't spread his hands across the Niger and the SS states. The SW and the North where he got bulk of his votes cannot win him an election. he has to go to Jonathan's base which is the SS and SE because if Jonathan can retain the votes he stole from Buhari in the North and his SS and SE votes which he's most likely to do in 2015, then it will just be back to square for Buhari. I guess he's gonna pick a SW candidate as his vice and most likely it will be Fashola. Fashola may be a good administrator but does not have a large following. Though the ACN magic will come into play but the figures that will result from that will not even be up to 10% of what Buhari got from the North the last time.

I will most likely be voting Buhari in 2015, not because he's the best candidate or most educated but because he's a maverick. he presents something different. I see him taking a different course of action should he get there. Though i don't know where this course of action will lead to. It only remains to be seen.
The difference is that Buhari didnt win ANY single state in the SW

If Buhari can bring the Tinubu and ACN machinery into it, and they deliver Now tell me what permutation would make him not win (Assuming ACN delivers all their state majority votes to Buhari-APC)
PoliticsRe: PDP vs APC - 2015 Projection Model by dayokanu(m): 10:03pm On Feb 07, 2013
danjohn: You can do that when you have an electoral college that is winner take all. However, in Nigeria you need to win the popular vote. APC needs votes from everywhere including the SS and SE if not they will lose.
No way they would lose the popular votes

APC gets NW,NE and SW by good margins theres no way Jonathan can upturn that from SS and SE alone

From your numbers you are discounting that Jonathans number in the SW would reduce while the APC number would increase significantly.

Give APC the standard 60-70% votes from the SW and lets see what the model would look like now

Also consider borderline states like Kwara, Kogi, Taraba, Nasarawa and imagine what would happen if ACN side of it joins to rally voters there.

the only sure states are SS and SE

In the 2011 numbers if SW supported Buhari en masse and delivered votes for him. Remove that number from Jonathan and add it to Buhari and see what would happen
PoliticsRe: PDP vs APC - 2015 Projection Model by dayokanu(m): 9:42pm On Feb 07, 2013
danjohn: The new party needs to campaign in the SE and SS like their life depended on it. They wouldnt be campaigning to win 51%. They would be campaigning to win at least 20%. At the moment Jonathan has a firewall in the SE and the South South. We must remember that even in states Jonathan lost in 2011, he was a very respectable 2nd place finisher. In the NE and WE combined Buhari won 10,078,356 votes while Jonathan won 5,228,346 votes. That was a respectable second place finish. On the other hand in the the SS and SE, Jonathaan won 11,103,854 votes while Buhari won only 31,383 votes. What this means is that Jonathan wiped out all of Buhari's NW and NE advantage by winning the SS and SE.

I would be the first to say that the SS and SE in 2011 were probably rigged. However, the only way you can blatantly rig is when the opposition has NO presence in your area.

I am not saying that the new party needs to win the SE and the SS; all I am saying is that it needs to be a respectable second place finisher.
In 2011 the SW voters didnt really care and Tinubu tacitly supported Jonathan.

If the SW were to go out and deliver votes like they did for the governorship election then all those numbers would change drastically.

Most would be similar to what obtained in Osun where Aregbesola wanted to make a point.

The most populated regions in Nigeria are NW followed by SW.

Theres no campaign Buhari can do in Delta, Bayelsa and rivers that would change anything just like Jonathan cant muster any campaign in Katsina, Kano etc without the presidential paparazzi and protection

tundetoday: I think we the youth should be smarter now. We know that identifying or analysing the unsuitability of these strange bedfellows won't get us anywhere. They simply don't represent us. We know that already. But before we can talk about cleaning the polity,we gat to wrestle to get power first. And APC represents the shortest cut. Like it or not the analysis by the poster seems real. Should APC field a "credible" combination at the centre, the battle ground will be in the southeast and southsouth.

Provided PDP still fields the obviously incompetent GEJ,there's a chance. A chance we must sieze with both hands and at all costs.
To win an election you dont need to win in all 36 states

The SS and SE are Jonathans territory e.g in the US Democrats know they can never win some states even if they present An angel and republicans present a goat So they dont bother, they just concentrate their campaigns in the battleground states.

E.g Democrats would never win in Alabama, Missisipi, Texas, etc

Meanwhile with Buhari as your front runner y'all bond to fail.
Kano Kaduna, Katsina were won by Buhari the last time, So why do you think he wont win it again?

In lagos Yoruba make the majority of the voting population thats why a Yoruba has always been governor and Deputy ever since

9ja_I_hail: @Bolded, what are you feeling like while making the above bolded comment. Are you feeling like south westerners control the largest population in these states you listed? My friend wake me up when you are done with this your Joseph dream, properly that would be in 2016.

Mind you i am not a PDP member before you call me names, i never voted in Nigeria and has no intention to vote soon as long as people like Buhari, tinumbu, and co still parade them self's as the maradonas in Nigeria leadership.
Which states are you talking about?

Are you asking whether its SW who control the largest population in Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun etc states?

If thats your question then the answer is YES

When you take into consideration the last few games of last season which Di Matteo fielded his 2nd team to concentrate on the CL it gets much better.

And what improvement has Rafa been over Di Matteo.

Di Matteo took over Chelsea in contention for 2 titles delivered the two. CL and FA cup
PoliticsRe: PDP vs APC - 2015 Projection Model by dayokanu(m): 9:07pm On Feb 07, 2013
The new Party shouldnt waste much resources in the South South and SE cos they would return Jonathan regardless

If Buhari can deliver what he did in 2011 and ACN can deliver the SW 6 states

iirc in 2011 Buhari won 13 states Jonathan won 23 states

If The SW delivers all 6 states to the new Party It would read APC 19 states Jonathan 18 states. Buhari edges it

Thats assuming ONLY the SW change. Thats why I say the SW holds the key to this election

Given the Population of Nigeria most of the most populous states like Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Lagos, Oyo would be with the APC and they can win the states and the simple majority

States like Taraba, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa that was won by Jonathan might be winable for Buhari with more work done

This is a sketchy analysis

I think Di Matteo win Percentages is like 57% which includes the deadbeat games at the end of last season when Chelsea focused all their efforts on the CL and they were playing their 2nd squad

Rafa currently has a win percentage of about 50% and only 3 home wins in Chelsea

I think initially in a relationship is when people experience fiery love of I would kill myself for you, I would stab myself if you leave me, after fight We would fucckk every 3 hours in the sink, on the TV laugh hysterically etc

As they grow, it turns more into calm friendship and companionship where they both work together for a common good, then arguments reduces everyone tolerates the other. The fights are less frequent and the make up sexx too less frequent

Its not like Love is diminishing its just that Love is getting more matured.
SportsRe: Your First Nations Cup by dayokanu(m): 9:01pm On Feb 04, 2013
My first nations cup I followed was Maroc 88.

Even though I remember watching the Golden Eaglets win in 1985 Just highlight of the final game on NTA) I didnt watch 1986 Nations cup cos Nigeria didnt qualify but I remembered watching the World cup in 1986 and Maradona Hand of God, Canada 87, Chile 87 etc

In Maroc 88 I remembered our first game 3-0 vs kenya. I remembered players like Folorunsho Okenla my fave Sam Okwaraji Yekini, Demola Adeshina , Peter Rufai Stephen keshi, Sunday Eboigbe etc

The second match vs Cameroun We were the underdog earlier in the game Okwaraji fired a rocket into the camerounian net I thought at that time that the Camerounian keeper flew out of the post to dodge the shot but Cameroun equalised later.

Third game vs Egypt I didnt watch cos there was no Light.

Semi final vs Algeria Okwaraji scored for us via a wicked deflection, Ademola Adeshina was sent off for 2 yellow card offence and Omokaro levelled the man advantage by his wicked tackle.

In the final Nigeria vs Cameroun henry Nwosu scored a nice header but was flagged for offside, Later Eboigbe brought down Milla in our box and Emmanuel Kunde dispatched the penalty.

Ndubuisi Okosieme had a chance to level but ran with the ball for over 30yrs and shot wide.

After the match I was very sad, I felt we were cheated cos I thought the foul of Milla was on the edge of the box

Thank you for this example, thanks thanks thanks. There are these two Nigerians that migrated here from Botswana in 2008. Both of them are medical doctors, the husband got the license to practice but his wife had to sit for exams. She was working as a carer in aged care while preparing for her exam. She did not have to work cos the government was paying their rent and bills for them. They also gave them a car. She was practicing in Botswana and has always been a busy person. A typical naija like me would question her decision to work in the aged care when all she had to do was sit back and prepare for her exam.how much did they even pay her compared to what her husband earned? She did not have to contribute a dime but she worked as a carer.
