coogar: he has already acclimatised? 8 starts in 17 league games? €40m??
chygrnsky added more value to barcelona than martinez is doing for bayern
Martinez joined after the Bundesliga has started

He has played 15 games started 8 already in a new league, new team only a tool would be expecting him to jump into an established team.

He also started 5 CL games So whats expected of a new player?

At the moment Martinez is doing well so far and growing into his new role

Roland17: \

I would spare u, the record for other seasons but the last time i checked

Dante (acclaimed defender in the league)

Mandzukic

Neuer

Pizarro (did bayern really need a pizarro back, except to weaken opponents)

Gustavo( who has become irrelevant)

Its what Bayern do, they wrestle the best players from other teams in a financially weak league, thus weaken competition even when they do not need those players.

Would u claim these players are not random starters?
Man Utd bought Smalling Jones Carrick, Valencia, Young, Rooney RVP

All from within the league did they do it to weaken the opposition? I wont even mention about Chelsea and Citeh. Maybe they are taking advantage of a financially weak league too

boateng knew his chances of playing week in week out was slim so he went to an inferior league. every one of us here would get signed in a german club as a defender........javi martinez is a different case entirely though! he's the only €40m player who has only 8 league starts with half of the season gone and he's not injured. the excuses have been rolling out - he's tired, he's not acclimatised, he cannot learn the language, he misses spanish dishes, etc.
Javi Martinez has already acclimatized and he isnt giving Spanish excuses like your favourite dud.

City rocked by Boateng injury

Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng is to undergo knee surgery and may only be fit for the final two Premier League games of the season.

City manager Roberto Mancini has revealed the full extent of Boateng's injury, which was sustained while on international duty with the Germany team last week.

Mancini said: "He will have surgery in the next two or three days. Maybe he will be fit for the last two games."

The last time i checked Kroos is a liability defensively ( i hope dayo and co can courageously admit to this) add that with A SLOW MARTINEZ and a Mediocre DANTE...
Slow Martinez, Mediocre Dante etc How many goals have they conceded this season compared to the Steve Bould Arsenal.

Its a sure thing that Dante is better than ALL Arsenal defenders bar none.

no arsenal player would make bayern xi? you mean cazorla will not start ahead of kroos? vermaelen and koscielny will not bench the zombies you have in your central defence? please, stop making me laugh!

Ibime: I don't know who told the guy above that Javi Martinez is slow. That's what you get reading all your football on google. Javi Martinez is quicker than 80% of the Arsenal team.
What do you expect from Arsenal fans if not daily goofs. wait till Pataki and Debo add theirs to it and to think that these are the most knowledgeable Arsenal fans on Nairaland. Can you imagine someone saying Martinez is slow when one of his major strenght is his pace.

Martinez is a midfielder also, but the 23-year-old featured heavily in defence for Athletic last term and offers Barcelona something different in midfield, too. His box-to-box style is unlike any player currently on the books at Camp Nou and his pace and power would bring incoming coach Tito Vilanova a useful tactical variant. Above all, however, he is seen as a long-term replacement for Puyol, still sidelined with a knee problem and reaching the twilight of a brilliant career at the age of 34.

He reminds me of Carrick with better pace and mobility.
http://www.redcafe.net/f7/javi-martinez-332312/

in january i suggest Javier Martinez....but this week, for the first time. I know who this player is....for me, he is def a CM we need, he is totally complete midfield, box to box, really good ballwinner, lovely first touch and touch of the ball, create chances and is capable to scoring goals + his pace with the ball forward is really quick..

coogar: badstuber, boateng and gustavo are peripheral players.....they are akin to djourou, coquelin and metresacker......robben would be a massive miss but then you have shaqiri as a competent deputy.

@ arsenal, they would need koscielny/vermaelen axis in the defence....they must also have a fit diaby to combat bayern! arshavin, santos, chamakh, coquelin and ramsey won't be missed! so compare like for like for once and don't just mention deadbeat players who wouldn't make arsenal reserve team! who is badstuber in the comity of brilliant defenders?
Boateng Badstuber are super regulars at Bayern when fit and they havent missed a min. Before Gustavos injury he was playing as well

Players who wont make Arsenals bench? I tell you categorically NO Arsenal player would make Bayern first 11.

Roland17: Dayo plsss save us and yourself from articles from SB nation!!!!! do u seriously believe a slow Javi Martinez can keep up with Carzola or Jack if they bring their A game, am predicting Martinez would get Carded chasing Carzola or Jack and that would alter the dimension of the game, he loves to tackle and can be hot headed sometimes, his aerial threat is the only problem i see he possess.
Let the whole Arsenal team bring the A++ games they cant match Bayerns midfield of Martinez Schweini and Kroos even when the latter are sleep walking.

Who needs to chase Cazorla? Do you think this is Reading? If we even need to man mark him its Gustavo that would do that. I am not worried by Cazorla at all if anyone worries me in Arsenal it would be Walcott's pace if he is still around cos if in the middle and we play the sloth Van Buyten due to injuries and suspension that it would be a hell of a ride.

Cazorla? cant harm anyone in Bayern. He has as much chance to hurt Bayern as Gervinho

And the injury excuse wouldnt cut it cos Bayern would be without 2 key defenders for the game Badstuber and Boateng probably a midfielder would pair Dante in Central defence.

Robben and Gustavo are also long term injury doubts

With or without injuries I see a Bayern aggregate win with 2 goals and above
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by dayokanu(m): 6:16pm On Dec 22, 2012
Key player

Toni Kroos - The German playmaker has been at the heart of Jupp Hencykes side this season in the central attacking role of a standard 4-2-3-1. He's a highly intelligent player with the ability to vary his role according to a match, boasting fine tactical awareness that proved crucial in Bayern's semi-final victory over Real Madrid last season. He'll be called upon to play a similar shuttling midfield role in a game that will be heavily based around possession and the midfield battle.

Matchup to watch

Javi Martinez v Santi Cazorla - The Bayern midfield trio of Kroos-Schweinsteiger-Martinez is tantalising, and the latter will be charged with closing down the Gunners' pivotal attacking threat, Santi Cazorla. The two compatriots actually last faced each other when both were playing for different teams, but there'll be no love lost when the silky playmaker will go directly head-to-head with the physicality of Martinez.

Prediction

Bayern to win by two goals. There's nothing to really suggest that Arsenal can beat Bayern Munich over two legs. There's just too much quality across the pitch for Arsene Wenger's side to handle, and although they wouldn't need to go to the same extremes, it's hard to see the Gunners coach endorsing similar tactics to ones Roberto Di Matteo favoured the last time Bayern Munich fell to an English side. Instead, this should be an open, exciting tie, settled by the depth in the Munich roster.
