Roland17: Compared to Cole, Abidal is a one dimensional player, renowned for his physical attributes as a LB and sometimes Central defender, but when it comes to attacking which has become a core function of any LB in modern day football, Abidal was an out right liability, his tackling is erratic thus he ended up suspended more than his time on the pitch when he's not injured..his pace and crossings are nothing to write home about either, thus Abidal is out.

Food for thought: if Cole transferred to Barca when abidal when both were in their prime, save for proneness to injury o the latter, would Cole bench Abidal?

Germany is renowned for goalkeepers and they are not short of those now when you mention young Robert Zieler and Marc-Andre ter Stegen but compared to Joe Hart, i bet that is no match-up.
