they got torres to replace drogba but they have failed to build the team around torres. true or false?

torres and drogba are not the same kind of strikers. drogba is a bully - whether the pass arrives early or late, his physicality enables him to sodomize the senderoses or the vermaelens of this world - torres isn't built like that - the passes must be early enough to quickly isolate him with the last man so that he's often put through one v one with goalkeepers. dayokanu, how many times has torres got a one v one situation since he joined chelsea.

let's compare him to hernandez in the same period. hernandez thrives in united because he receives those passes early enough to put him one v one.
had chicharito joined chelsea, do you think he would have earned a name in the english league with the slow-paced chelsea team?
think about this - would inzaghi, ruud, chicharito and most strikers who often sit on the shoulder of the last defender work @ chelsea?
This is because Inzaghi, Chicharito, Ruud are smart enough to anticipate runs that put them in the situation you described

Do you think aside Adebayor, These are the strikers mostly caught offside?, thats because they always anticipate moves

But Torres wont even be in positions to receive passes because he is somewhere else keeping shape.

When midfielders play into the box, you would expect the strikers to be in the box to pounce.

Let me use this Lampard goal as an example, The Ruud, Inzaghi, Chicharito would be in the box even if they are not the scorer, But our Torres is somewhere else.

How many times Torres got one on one situation? How would he get them when he doesnt even anticipate these moves? and the few ones he got what did he do with them?

No the coach does not have a choice. That however says more about us than it does about Drogba.
Which serious club in contention for 4 titles every season relies on a 33 year-old has-been striker?

However, some of us turn around and blame the manager for not getting the best out of the players even though they themselves confirm that DD "was once" one of the most feared strikers in Europe.
Its not the fault of the coach cos he has a game to win else he loses his job,

Its not the fault of Drogba cos he is old and naturally cant perform like he used to

Its not the fault of the Management too because they splashed on a supposed in-age striker. What else do you want Management to do regarding the striker situation?

They realised Drogba was getting old, got Torres to replace him and Sturidge to replace Anelka. DS replaced Anelka and that gave them the confidence to sell Anelka but Torres failed to replace Drogba effectively thereby boxing the coach and the whole team into a box of having to revert to the Old and rickety Drogba

Its the fault of the new striker Torres who failed to perform.

list those games and i would tell you who was operating in the middle.
the beauty of this is. . . .when lampard does not play, whoever plays in the middle can swap positions with mata. . . .lampard is useless anywhere else on the pitch apart from a central midfield role.
Chelsea 1 Villa 3 Mata played 90 mins Lamps was a 60th min sub

Chelsea 1 Tottenham 1 Lampard didnt play a single minute Mata played 90 min

Chelsea 2 man City 1 Mata Played 84 mins, Lampard came in 75min

I diss Arsenal for their lack of trophies because they are a rival club but you all know where they are going.
Where are we going? So bloody what if we win trophies?

Chelsea cannot afford to buy Josh McEachran on the market from their own purse.
Is that your idea of sustainability? Win trophies now, stability later.
You really see where Arsenal is going? Can you enlighten us where Arsenal is going.

In one statement you say "DD was once" and in another you are asking if we should let him go.
Shevchenko "was once" one of the most feared strikers in Europe, why don't we sign him again?
Not knowing when to say goodbye is the foundation of destruction.
How come the technically lacking Drogba was the one who struck fear into the heart of many opponents in his hey days?

Did he suddenly become technically limited?

Drogba is old, but when the supposed in-age striker plays worse than the old one, What option does the coach have?

I ask again, How come the technical players in Spain have benefitted every striker except FERNANDO TORRES?

So who was playing in the middle when Lampard was benched in those games Chelsea drew?

Or was lampard disturbing Mata from the bench?

which contradictions? chelsea is unbalanced when they play mata and lampard in the same game.
it exposes their defence - ashley cole is beginning to cop the clichy syndrome(which also began since arsenal signed arshavin).

mata starts from the left hand side of the attack and he quickly vacates his position to join lampard in the middle.
the same kind of problem redknapp had with van der vaart at spurs last season. lampard should rest when mata is playing.

mata must play behind torres.
In the last 5-7 games how many of these games did Lampard start? yet they have had a terrible run

So how was lampard responsible for the inbalance?

Or was lampard who sits on the bench to blame again?

Who played the pass before the assist for Ramires goal?
Or better still who played the goalkick that was flicked by player X, to player Y who feeds player Z to score off the deflection

they did not. . . .torres was flanked by mata and ramirez.
lampard played directly behind torres.

do you need binoculars to read tactical formation?
matter of fact, playing mata on the left is the reason ashley cole is looking vulnerable this season. he gets no protection at all from mata who vacates his position often and join the action in the middle - thus leaving ashley cole exposed to attacks.
Did you notice the contradiction in those 2 statements?

I was happy with the 3pts. At some point in the game, I said all I want is a win.
However, I will never support that over a season even if we win the PL.
I, unlike you, do not believe in momentary success. I believe in a sustainable philosophy and logic.
You will never attract the best players in the world if you continue to support ugly football.
Mario Goetze will raher join Arsenal than us, you think because he thinks he will win the PL?
Are you serious? Arsenal plays better football than Man Utd, So you think any player would join Arsenal over Man Utd?

In Italy Roma play the best football, How many players would join Roma over Inter, AC or Juve?

In Germany Bremen play the best football, How many players would join Bremen over others?

AVB has not met my expectations but unlike you, I understand why. So I don't complain unnecessarily.
You want to blame him for not providing the sexy football yet at the same time you buy home and away shirts and print Drogba and Ramires at the back. Go look at teams around the world who play good football, do they have technically inferior players like Ramires and Drogba? So what do you expect from the poor dude?
Does Man Utd play good football? if they do how come they have Valencia, Young, Fletcher etc in their squad

No I am not satisfied with his performance so far. However, and again, I understand why he has not performed.
So I wait until I see a change of personnel. If he doesn't score then I'll give up.

What I will not do though is complain about every kick, every pass every throw as though he priced himself for £50m.
The reason for lack of success in Chelsea is lack of technical players abi? But he has the best midfielders behind him in Spain, What has he done there?

Did you watch the first half at all?
Did you see Torres' two passes. One to set Lamps in front of goal and he scuffs it and the other to Mata in front of goal and he hits it at the goalie?

Why then should Torres be criticised for a mistake that others have made? That's where I do not get the premise of your criticism.
Which mistake of others have I blamed Torres for Mr Nateevs?

I blamed him for wasting a perfectly good ball Lampard laid to him, blamed him for wasting a good chance laid for him by Mata in the 82 min

that's the way a lame man with half-a-brain would see it. . . . .
but an astute observer would know torres' pass got the goal. ashley cole just needed to cross(without pressure), lampard must score cos he was all alone to tap into an empty net.

it was torres pass that took 4 defenders out of the game.
How did lampard get all alone when a few seconds earlier he was outside the box? I guess it musta have been some spirited running from him and basic instincts which isolated him to score that tap in

what about the killer-pass torres fed lampard and lampard was too slow to get there and wolves goalie just scooped the ball up.
If you are feeding someone with a pass, common sense demands to make it at the weight proportionate to the speed of the intended recipent

Torres overhit the "pass".

i
have to say this is one of the best performances of nando torres in a chelsea shirt. he did not hide throughout. he was coming deep to effect the play and he held the ball well for the runners to get a bite. . . .

dayokanu, you cannot fault torres today.
Yet lampard served him a pass which he took 4 touches on and lost inside the freaking box 18? Did you see AVB's reaction to that move?

Did you see the "pass of the match" from Mata to Torres on the 82 min just before Mata was removed ? That isolated Torres with the defender like you suggested they should yet the shape keeper failed to control the ball?

lampard scored a tap-in in a move initiated by torres.
Lampard scored a tap in from a move initiated by LAMPARD which Cole provided the assist.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 6:15pm On Jan 02, 2012
Easiest of tap in? For Lampard to pass to Torres and still get into position all within a few seconds

Meanwhile what was the shape keeper doing missing all the chances being served?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 6:13pm On Jan 02, 2012
Its Wolves you should be beating them?

Considering that you havent won in how many games now vs various opposition

Lampard made a lot of contribution in the game and did a lot of running

The pass to Torres which he touched 5 times before he lost it was from Lampard hope you know?

Petrol price in Lagos is now N141/litre (its N150 in Eastern Nigeria, but lets ignore that) and Ngozi says the increase (of N76) will save us N16billion in subsidy payments. That works out to N4.75/Litre increase per N1billion subsidy removal. So, if GEJ and his deputy pay for their meals out of their salaries (like the rest of us), we can have petrol at N136.25/litre; if in addition to this Sambo's VP lounge is not extended and his DOP's quarters are not renovated, we can have fuel at N131.50/Litre, to cut this story short: If the N18billion budgetted for the running of the State House (and this is exclusive of the numbers I've already mentioned) is reduced to N2billion, we could maintain fuel prices at N65/Litre. We haven't even talked about the emoluments of Senators, Members of the House, Governors, State House of Assembly members, Special Advisers, Ministers (of regular and "special" duties), Ministers of State (regular and "special" duties), Ambassadors, etc.

Thor, Did you see the below? or what are you suggestions

dayokanu:
Thor,

Those too poor to buy a car also use buses right? In case you dont know, transportation costs have also gone up 150%

Those poor too have generators to provide light, The cost of fueling the gen has also gone up

The farm produce also need fuel to get to the market, The fuel for those has also gone up

Unfortunately they dont have Govt provided rails and buses like you have in UK

So they still have to suffer for it
Someone in the UK uses how many liters of fuel in a day? Lets say 10 liters his counterpart in Nigeria uses 50liters

Why The one in UK takes govt provided buses, in Nigeria there are no govt provided busses

In UK, There is light and you dont have to worry about Generators at home

In UK you dont use generator to run your business for 13hours like in Nigeria

Lampard with a 90min game and Chelsea wins with him providing the winner.

Can you guys now tell what your problem isnt? I bet your problem isnt Lampard like you paint it

The goals comes from a Pass from Lampard to Torres, who released Cole down the channel who squares for Lampard who sprinted into position to score

The goal is 70-80% Lampard cos he could have stayed where he passed the ball

Torres gets some credit for the pass to Cole and Cole gets credit for the pass as well

What were the benefits of SAP we endured in 1987?

What was the benefit of the several pump price increase between 1999-2007? The same story they told us then was what we are hearing now.

What was the benefit of the Excess crude money we got from 2004-2011?

Shebi OBJ and Okonjo cleared Debt in 2005, we made loads of money from selling crude this time also. How come we have mounting debt at this point?
