Pls what is the cost implication

80k should cover it (ECA and courier to you) excluding cost of transcript from your school and courier to Canada.

After about 20 weeks, my ICES Application status just change to "Application Complete". Please what is the next step?

Congratulations on that. I guess the next step would be to send you your ECA by courier. You should also prepare for your ielts too.

Hi guys, thanks for opening this thread.

I have a question please.

I'm in my early 30s
I have only high school certificate and about 6years experience as a sales associate, does my education status qualify for this PROGRAM, If YES, how do I go about ECA?

You can apply for your credential evaluation by WES, ICES etc just go on their website and follow directions.

Someone already in Canada advised I package my CV. According to him, to compete favourably, your CV must be top notch, it should be of international relevance.
I recently contacted resume clinic services to help with the CV packaging. Am yet to get a reply to know if their charges are fair.
If you're like me who is not good at packaging CV. I advise you contact a professional.
Let's get this going.

We paid cash at the Abuja embassy, as at May it was around 35k BT that price might have doubled now due to Exch. Rate.

My sis gave us letter of invite, I dnt know abt ur church member. Some1 else can help u answer that question.

U can go any day on weekdays apart from public holiday. I used Abuja, just walk in submit, pay & do ur biometrics no appointment is needed. I applied in May this year and in less than a month they posted my passport with Visa granted.

Thanks @Jinnyz for your response.

Please further questions to all the gurus in the house:

1. Do I pay cash at the embassy there?

2. I don't have blood relatives in Canada but know a family from church who relocated there less than 2 years ago. Do you think I should ask them for a letter of invite to show ties to Canada or I should book hotel reservation?

If you are doing paper application you will have to submit your passport immediately. I know VFS Lagos acceptsapplication everyday of the week. Not sure of Abuja.

Thank you @shadeebee78 for your clear answers.

Hello forumites,

Please I need further explanation about paper application. Can I just fill downloaded forms and walk into the embassy any day to submit? Or is there a particular day for submission please. Because I don't live in Abuja or Lagos and will have to plan the trip.

Also, after submission I wait indefinitely to be asked to submit passport?

Thanks for your help.

Hello All and congratulations to those who just got their visas. Wish you the best and tap into your blessings.

Please can anyone help me with exchange rate for Canadian dollars and where I can check (probably online) on my own to always get the current rate? I'm drawing up my budget and counting the cost before embarking on the project.

Thanks a million as I await your response(s).

Hello hotstepper and everyone on this forum. Great job sharing relevant information y'all. I came across this page through Google while searching for Canadian birth and I've spent about a week going through pages 1-31 grin

God bless you @Hotstepper.

Now to my immediate question: Can I apply for a Canadian visa from the UK on a visit visa?

I'm asking this because I intend to go spend a month or two there and feel that by the time I return there would not be enough time for Canadian visa process. I'm 18 weeks already (4 months). Look forward to your replies.
